My husband went to the Talbots store in South Windsor CT to buy me a Christmas gift. He knew exactly the skirt I wanted but needed some help picking out a sweater to complete an outfit. Unfortunately, he was treated very rudely by the sales person. She rolled her eyes and sighed loudly when he asked for help finding a sweater, and he got the impression that she was very annoyed with him. He felt embarrassed to be there. My husband is a very kind and sweet man who never complains about people and always sees the best in others. It must have been pretty bad for him to not have any positive thing to say. When he came home and told me how embarrassed he was, I was appalled and hurt on his behalf. His actual words were, "I see what you mean about that store." There have been many times I have been treated in a condescending manner at that store, or have felt that they just didn't have time for me. My husband was actually prepared to buy several things, but left with only the skirt. The sales person did not even look at or speak to him while ringing up the sale but was talking with other sales people. She handed him the bag without looking at him or saying thank you or goodbye, and then she walked away. I have often left this store thinking that I will not go back, but because it's the closest one to me, I eventually do return. I now think it may be worth it to drive further away in the hope of being treated more respectfully. In fairness, I would like to say that there was a day when my birthday discount was honored even though it was 1 day late. I so appreciated that grace.
I ordered several items during Black Friday. One was a black/red pop tartan jacket. After waiting for a while and a call to customer service, I was told on three or four occasion via email that it was on back order & asked if I wanted to wait. Each time I said yes. When I called, the customer rep. Encouraged me to cancel my order & said they didn't have this jacket available in any of the stores; even though, I told her there's one available@ the Bellevue Sqr. Store. The reason I ordered online instead of purchase from the store was because I felt pressured by the store manager to open a Talbots credit card which I didn't want to. And I was belittled as a result. After I expressed my feelings to Talbot's customer service, I received an email saying that the manufacturer is no longer making this jacket! But when I visited the Bellevue store yesterday (12-29-2018), I saw the jacket that I wanted, but was told no longer available, in this store with different sizes, and one of those was my size! I feel that I was lied to by Talbot out of spite due to my feedback. Plus, Talbot did not want to give me the pleasure of buying this jacket at Black Friday's price! Additionally, the gloves I ordered split between two of the fingers after just wearing twice! I kept it because it'll cost me money to ship it back!
My shopping experience on Nov. 30th at the Wayzata Mn store was a lot of fun. All seemed to be in the happy holiday spirit. They were very busy while I was there, however, I received the usual individual attention that I enjoy when they are not busy.
Almost every associate greeted me at one time or another whileI was in the store. The names I rcall are Mimi, Toni, Mary and Michelle.
The jacket I wanted was not in the store but they were happy to order it on line.
I also enjoyed the treats.
Another happy shopping experience at Talbots. Thank you.

I keep trying to like Talbots but their clothing is junk!. Many shirts and shorts don 't make it past ONE wash! I can buy clothes at Old Navy or even Walmart that hold up better!
I live in Alberta, Canada. Received unaddressed coupon/flyer at my Canadian address for 25% off plus free shipping to use by oct 1. Went online and order two sweaters and a scarf. Not once did it advise it was in US currency, that it would be shipped out of the US or that I would be responsible for any customs/duty/excise taxes. Yesterday I received a bill from FedEx for $44 in customs and taxes. Called Talbot's customer line on my email receipt and that was when I learned my bill was also in USD! She went on and on that it says all this on the invoice and web site (it does not, i had my paperwork in front of me!) and then when she turned around and said I could return the items to my Canadian Talbots and they would reimburse the FedEx bill or Talbot's would send a cheque, I was shocked. She explained that is what others have done in my situation... so wait... it is clearly outlined in writing and yet you have a procedure in place for when this happens, and other Canadians have called. Deceptive! I called my local Canadian Talbots and confirmed that I'm not the only one that has been deceived. In the end, what I thought was a bill for $142 has turned into $227.67 plus my time. Will never ever order from this company again.
I use online shopping from Talbots all the time. The two last orders were sent out with over half of the items ordered missing and no longer available. Both the online and phone customer service were not helpful. I was told by both that the system is not maintained and that they are not able to tell if items are still available. I was also told this is a new issue and that the customer service team has had several "tools" taken away that help them determine what is available and what is not. Now I am off to find items for vacation because Talbots failed. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE. ONLY ORDER ON THE PHONE AND DEMAND THEY CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU WILL GET YOUR ITEMS. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DISAPPOINTMENT.
Their clothes look so cute in the catalog... but when I received them... the colors were dull and looked very little like the catalog. This used to be a great place to buy classic pieces. So sad.
I ordered clothes and shoes almost $500 on sept 3, I was hoping that I have all of what I ordered because it's says available, they even sent email that my items on the way, this afternoon I received an email from the company that only few of my orders are available, what pissed me off is that they should let me know right away, I wasted my time ordering and waiting, it's so disappointing.
A few weeks ago I purchased several items at Talbots using a $20 coupon and then within the week every single item was marked down considerably. I repurchase four of the items at a substantial discount and today went to the store to return the higher priced items. Rather than scan my original receipt, the clerk brought up my entire order history and did a credit to my Talbots charge using the lower priced items. I caught the error and had her fix the error but even when she scanned my higher priced receipt the system brought up my entire order history making it difficult to ensure that I had gotten the best priced on my items. What a headache! It would be nice if I could have simply brought in my receipt and asked for a price adjustment rather than to have to play this game to get the best price.
I also think that they should offer free shipping to their credit card holders for a minimum purchase. It's a hassle to use the red phone and it would be so much easier to shop from the comfort of my home and get free shipping and free returns. They certainly charge enough money for a little t shirt to cover the shipping!
The Talbots on the upper west side of Manhattan on 83rd and Broadway is ridiculously slow. They have no problem keeping 2 registers open when theres 10people waiting on line. The computers are slow, and they NEVER apologize for the wait or put on an extra cashier on until theyre asked several times. A woman ahead of me who was already at the register doing a return mustve been standing there at least 40mins with no end in sight. And everyone on line says the same thing, the clothing isnt as good as it used to be and stores are hurting in general so how are they allowed to treat customers this way? Again, they NEVER apologize for an obviously long wait on line.
Answer: China, where everything else is made these days. I don't think many, if any, of their products are made in the USA.
Answer: They are sneaky. Waited over a month for a jacket, returned it and a month later I asked where is my credit. They said they received and put a credit in my account (not what I wanted as I purchased jacket elsewhere) but never notified me they received and I have a credit. In other words, they just keep unsuspecting customers' money and never tell you. I will never shop there again (except to use my credit if I can't get them to credit my card hahaha)
Answer: I have never had an issue with exchanges. I have never requested a refund.
Answer: The quality of the clothes going back about 10-15 years ago was EXCELLENT. I still have shorts purchased then but they are now showing their age. Purchased similar over the last get years and while they are still $60 the quality is on par with perhaps Walmart
Answer: They are easy to reach and cooperative. They are responsive to customer's needs
Answer: They are a legitimate company and have been in business for many years
