Jeff Crass the owner was extremely resonsive, personable and professional. He and 2 other movers were phenomenal in their work ethic, they moved the entire time with no breaks during the 5 hour move. I highly recommend them!
I requested some movers in the southern Indiana area through Thumbtack and very quickly got a response from Tim Taylor with SaveMoneyMoving.com. His prices were better than anyone else's in the area and he was willing to be flexible in working with us since the closing date on our home kept changing. He never charged us any fees for having to reschedule. This team of movers is located in Louisville, Kentucky and services the surrounding areas. Tim and 2 other movers arrived on time and within 3 hours had completely unloaded our 2 full PODS, put together all furniture, and even set it all up for us where we wanted it. The only thing we had left to do was unpack our boxes! They only took one short 5 minute break in between unloading the first and second POD. Their work and manner was extremely professional. They were kind, considerate and very careful with our items. Hands down they were the best movers we've ever worked with and we've moved a lot!
Darin Monfre refurbished an old trunk I have held on to for 40 years. It looks amazing with attention to detail restoring it but keeping the authentic look. I would definitely recommend his work. After vs before pics.
So thumbtack go me again. After feeling like they had fake requests for an entire year unfortunately I signed up for Pro. This was actually worse in this case every time a client responded it was with the same generated question what's included in your price? I must have paid for at least 10 responses to the same question from different clients what's included in your price? The pro platform allows clients to choose services that are pre priced by the pro. So the question doesn't event make sense... it includes the options you selected! I have requested my account be canceled so no ongoing charges may occur. They immediately agreed to close it but have not offered a refund. Someone will get them... i am sure of it!
As a pro in my field of housekeeping for 18 years I can tell you Thumbtack is a hack company! They are filled with excuse after excuse as to why my quotes were never opened. They don't vete the customer well enough or guide them through the process of how to fill out the request form. They are up against Care.com, Angie's List and Craigslist. They need to bone up on what would make their company work! I shut down my profile because I do feel they throw out fake leads! That's not against the law but it should be. Shame on these Mormons!
Despicable customer service!
Run by little children who like to get revenge on you and shut your account down if you criticize them.
Frauds. They take your $$$$ and provide illigit leads.
Steer clear of this scam company!
I have been using them for over a year and became one of their top pros. I have been keeping a 5 star rating and top pro for quite some time. But to tell you the truth I'm so tired of throwing money at it. I have been paying more and more for leads and when it comes time to get refunds is trash. They don't care if is a real lead or not. They will tell you on their website that refunds will happen if the person never really replies or cancel the job. When you try to do it there is no refund they just ignore you. Also don't even try to contact customer service, they will take all your money and not even give you that. They will not answer messages or text and really only have an automated system that doesn't do anything really. At this point really considering spending my money somewhere else, this people don't care about their pros at all and it sucks because we are the ones that pay
T Sheehan,
Creative Home Designs 1
Jim did a complete inspection while walking us around to point out the many things that were never done prior to his superb exterior work. The important areas on the house like corners post, siding corners/joints, window seams, door seams. He also explained why our paint did not last more than four years. As we had seen Jim's crew work there magic bringing our house back from embarrassment to being proud to show all our friends!
We had wished we hired Creative Home Designs the first time!
Super excellent professional work!
We recommend Jim's company

MY wife and I selected K. N. E. Solutions, LLC from a list of contractors on Thumbtack site for the Jacksonville area. It was the first time that we have utilized an on-line referral service and we were pleasantly surprised with the results. Ed Capps, his wife and crew did a great job on the window-washing, inside and out and tracks; cleaning of the tile floors in kitchen and bathrooms as well as the hardwood floors, floors look like brand new. They then cleaned the carpet in our sun-room which had several deep stains that were created by our pets and moved all of the furniture to be sure all of the carpet was cleaned properly. We will definitely have them back again and highly recommend their services to anyone in our area. John & Nancy
I have been using Thumbtack as a professional (licensed nutritionist) and this morning they raised the price AGAIN to bid on a lead. This is very frustrating when it costs $6+ dollars to be one of 4 other bids, thus making Thumbtack $30 for every potential job. I would recommend only use Thumbtack if you are serious about getting a job done, because if you view any or all quotes, that professional is out of money, even if you never end up getting the job done. I am unsure at this time if I will continue to use Thumbtack.
They have recently switched their system - if you contact the pro they get charged highway robbery rates. I had one person contact me about one job (that they then flaked on) and I was charged $57+... $57 to waste my time with a poor customer and a refusal on Thumbtacks part to even consider a partial refund is garnering them a negative review everywhere I can put one. I've been screwed over by this company too many times to ever use it again.
Their new system... charge the customers crazy amount to leads that someone responds to. This is not confirmed business just someone that responds to your lead... I see a photographer got charged $45. I got charges almost ten dollars and almost 18 dollars for two pet sitting leads... one asked me if I charged $25 for a week or pet sitting or per time... obviously not a serious lead...$25 a week of pet sitting... that one cost me almost $18. I don't know who thought up this system, but I am going to my credit card to fight the charges and quitting working with Thumbtack. This is bizarre practices... good way to lose customers...
I don't like sites where you send off your personal info and blast it out to unknown people. But, Yelp was useless and I stopped using Angies list years ago because they hassle contractors. I've seen thumbtack for years and finally gave them a small, relatively-safe shot.
I didn't blast and just sent a msg to one no response "thing". It's a waste and ultimately wonder if it's a data mining site. It's not worth it. It reminded me of Home Advisor and I've never ever used that. Back to the drawing board.
I'm a talented Low Voltage Integrator with a good customer base. I started using thumbtack to get more leads. I believe Thumbtack is generating false leads to charge more automatic payments to vendors.
Thumbtack is completely unethical. I paid $150 in leads that led me to 1 $50 job. My work is flawless and all my reviews are 5 stars on other sites.
Jaime Santana at J & Son Exterminators is your guy! He takes house calls very seriously, he arrives very fast, hes an expert. And as a bonus, he has a good sense of humor. I'll definitely request him again if I need it.
If I could have given them a lower score I would have. This web based company is the biggest joke ever. After signing up and going though all the motions I began receiving "leads" Turns out not one of them bothered to respond, actually only 2 out of the 8 leads opened my bid. I then started researching things. Before I knew it I was reading over hundreds of negative reviews/complaints about this company. They have over 150 complaints at the BBB, all over their Facebook page etc. I would strongly suggest to anyone interested in doing business with them to do your homework.
One of the first things Joe said to me "I don't require any money until the project is finished". That sold me on hiring him for our living room renovation. His workers are so trustworthy and nice. We actually had some fun while they renovated our living room. They sheetrocked, painted, and put in my new hardwood floor and the price was very reasonable. They came on time every day and will stay until the project is completed. In fact, I won't hire anyone else I just need to call Joe for future handyman jobs around my home.
As a Photographer & Thumbtack Top Pro there was a time you could pull some leads, be competitive and get business. It looks like those days are gone. I really wish that weren't the case because I used to like it. Now they are blasting unlimited bids at a time. One lead just had 19 bids on the insights. I have a 20 reviews all verified 5 stars. What a disappointment. I did used to make money here. Right now I am down a couple hundred dollars without a good job from it.
Thumbtack is 100 times better than Angie's list. We through Thumbtack found a lot of good handyman and contractors. We use them frequently. We're Angie's list member too. We have to search handyman by ourselves in Angie's website. Ton of names and companies come out and we have to send questions or make phone call. Almost of them on the list they're so rude to respond me message or total ignore my inquire message. But Thumbtack always let us fill out an form to detail what we're looking for. Then in 24 hours will have some handyman or contractors contact us. They're very nice and polite. I'm going to cancel the membership at angies's list even thought they only cost me $9.99
I was an independent contractor on the site. The site charges workers/contractors for leads. Even though you get 'direct leads' and/or respond very quickly almost instantly to a few minutes, the leads get sent to several people. Each contractor is charged a fee by the company, hence, a failed attempt to multiple contractors thus incurring a cost or fee that the company gets and you don't get hired. Its NOT recommended to use this site from a contractors standpoint,
Answer: Thumbtack does not generate fake requests. When our professionals come to Thumbtack to meet new customers, we know how important it is to receive requests that can help them expand their clientele. We have a lot of customers that come to Thumbtack and hire professionals to help them complete their personal projects. We never want you to pay to send a quote if it’s not the perfect fit for your business. This is why you can view the details of each request before you send a quote and introduce yourself to the customer. James - I’m so sorry that the concerns you’ve brought to our attention haven’t been responded to in an appropriate amount of time, this is never our intention. It's important to us to obsess about answering our customers and professionals questions and concerns within a timely manner. We are a real company that can always be improving. You can read more about our company in reputable sources such as Forbes and the New York Times. If anyone has specific concerns about certain requests you’re receiving, we’d be happy to review them and see how we can help. Feel free to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we have an amazing support team that is just waiting to talk to you.
Answer: Hi Kay, I’d be happy to answer your questions. When we initially started Thumbtack in 2009, we tried multiple business models. This included a commission based model, but there were some concerns. When professionals didn’t pay for each quote they sent out, there was nothing to stop pros from quoting as much as possible, regardless of if they were the right fit for the job. Paying for each quote encourages better quality quotes and creates a much better experience for customers. Like you mentioned, it’s important for us to get customers to try our site and continue to hire professionals. In the end, pros are paying to promote and advertise themselves to customers that are already actively looking for that particular service. S. G has an amazing point, and Thumbtack is a great introduction site. There’s a lot of potential to expand your clientele, but sometimes it takes some tweaking to your profile and quotes to increase your response rate. The goal is to create a connection through your profile and quote message, and we’re here to help you do this. It’s kind of like sending the customer a virtual portfolio of your experience, achievements, and reviews. I do want to clarify that Thumbtack does not create fake requests, and it goes against everything we value as a company. While Thumbtack may not be the perfect fit for every business, we strongly believe that we can help connect businesses with new customers and foster growth. If you’d like to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we’d love to give you more personalized help or answer any other concerns you may have.
Answer: We love to see that you’re interested in joining Thumbtack, Grace! Your party planning business sounds like it will be a blast. When it comes to having a license, it's up to each professional to determine what licenses are necessary and follow their local, state and federal laws. I recommend checking with your state to see if a business license is needed for your service. Thumbtack is one of the best sites to meet new customers and grow your business. Robert S. Gave a really good explanation of how we work. You can sign up and receive requests for free, and you only pay us when you send the customer a quote. Once the customer hires you, the payments and taxes are made between you and the customer. This is a great way to connect with the customer and build an extensive referral network. We wish you the best of luck with growing your business. Have an amazing day!
Answer: The reason you had a lull in leads we because thumbtack had a manual action penalty levied against them. If you are not sure what that is you should google search it. The letter you received from Thumbtack regarding this was (as usual) not fully truthful. The letter does not detail the slimy tactics thumbtack used ti enhance google rankings in organic search returns. Do yourself a favor and search this phrase "thumbtack manual action penalty"
Answer: With our recent changes, you're only charged when a customer responds to your quote with interest in working with you. If you have questions about a specific quote, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Just send us a message on Facebook with your email address and the customer's name.
Answer: We want to make sure you get the most out of our site and see a return on the investment you've made with us. Please give us a call at (800) 948-2034 when you have time so we can go over your concerns with us.
