Booked a US flight in December 2021(on Alaska airlines). Had to cancel due to COVID. Contacted Trip.com and they said I would retain my flight cost when I wanted to rebook.
I called today to rebook-trip.com told me I needed to speak with the airline. Alaska was more then happy to help, however couldnt as when my trip was booked, it shows it was paid for in cash as in AUS dollars. (I paid by credit card in US dollars). Alaska told me they will put a note in my account that says they will allow a waiver so I can rebook... but trip.com wont contact Alaska as I have requested to issue the rebook. Alaska said they (trip.com) likely dont want to deal with the hassle. So now I am out almost $900 USD-trip.com is a complete and utter waste of time, not to mention money and I will NEVER ever use their 'services' again... in fact their services seem criminal as they have taken my money and are not allowing me to re-use it to rebook (I am NOT asking for a refund) even though the airline policy allows me to rebook. Very difficult and sneaky. Poor business practices and they should be shut down.

Worst refund process
February 19, 2022

UPDATE: It is now August 2022 (one year later) and STILL NO REFUND. They comment on our posts here telling us to send them an email for it to be escalated, but all they do is repeatedly tell you that its "in progress". They don't give you a time frame and won't give contact information to take this higher up. This is absolutely unacceptable and very poor business practice.

In August 2021, I received an email from trip.com informing me my flights have been canceled. They gave me the option to refund or change my flight so I opted to refund. I was notified that due to COVID, processing times are very long. I was informed to wait until Feb 2022 (6 months). I waited. In Feb 2022, I contacted the airline directly regarding my refund as the status on my refund says they are awaiting for the airline to process it. To my surprise, the airline informed me that they cannot see it and I needed to contact trip.com.

I contacted trip.com and they said "it was still in progress" and they would expedite my refund. I asked them whose end my refund was processing with and they ignored my question.

I asked how long it would take and I was just told I'd receive an email within 24 hours with all the details. It's now been 3 days and no email.

I have probably written 2 bad reviews in my 32 years of living and trust me I would never write a bad review unless I felt it might help others. But trip.com seriously have some work to do to improve.

From reading previous reviews, it sounds like they need to put in a lot more effort into finding more effective ways in running things behind the scenes.

Does not matter what currency you choose they will convert to USD on skyscanner search engine. Put in AUD and was charhed USD. Customer service did not want to know me. Hope I can get on flight as have paid nearly double what the air.ine has got airfares advertised them for.DO NOT USE WEBSITE THIS IS A SCAM.

BOOKING NUMBER *******7629 My husband and I were due to fly from Kolkata to Bangkok, Bangkok to the Philippines last 18 July 2022 at 2230H, however, I contracted COVID, on the 17th of July. We have emailed TRIP.COM and have been in correspondence with several people and explained our current circumstances and were requesting a refund or rebooking due to MEDICAL reasons which will put EVERY CO PASSENGERS on the Airplane into possible COVID POSITIVE patients if we had hidden my status and continued with the flights. However being a healthcare worker, it is my duty to keep myself isolated and make sure no one is infected because of me. But, the way TRIP.COM dealt with it was very disrespectful. They refuse to refund or give us a chance for ticket rebooking. Despite us emailing them and sendingbthem.our medical reports. Is this an insinuation from your side that we should have just boarded the plane regardless if I will everyone else at risk? You failed us big time TRIP.COM

If I could I would put ZERO STARS.
I have been TRUFFLED by this agency I would ALWAYS recommend avoiding it.
I have been trying for months to get reimbursed.
So I booked a flight from Rome to Honolulu,the first flight( among which in the reservation there is no number that identifies the flight) is delayed and we miss 4 planes, we go to the kiosk where they are supposed to help us they ask us 800€ to 'change the first flight' (each) 1600€ for a problem created by the company. So paid uber and air bnb in paris (300€) we took a high plane with another company.
We try to get reimbursed, impossible to find the flight number, (airwizz malta) not there in the reservation in the e mail anywhere. The plane was blatantly delayed, where we tried to change tickets we stood in line for hours before talking to anyone because at least 50 people had had the same problem!
AND WHAT TRIP.COM TELLS ME! SORRY LAEREO WAS NOT LATE, I ASK FOR FLIGHT NUMBER NO 600€ REFUND NO

Yesterday evening I made a flight booking through your website (Trip.com) for a round trip from COK (Cochin International Airport, India) to KUL (Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia).
Payment was successful and I got an email with receipt and Itinerary with booking confirmation along with airline booking reference(or) ticket number (PNR).
When i checked the booking details on both airasia.com and airasia.co.in, the PNR status shows invalid. Pls find attached screenshot images.
When contacted Trip.com customer care call they said its valid as per our records. Also add, pls wait for 24 hours will contact the airline and give you an update. Why they need 24 hours to validate a PNR provided by an airline company. There is no proper email for customer support and I have submitted a compliant the same day night through their mobile app. But no response yet. But they mentioned 24x7 customer support available. Also the contact number on their website for my country is not available or not working.
I'm left nowhere and still bouncing between Trip.com and Airasia to know whether my ticket is valid or NOT?
It seems Trip.com cheating by debit money from my card and gave a fake e-ticket.

THEY ARE SCUM! DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!

I bought a ticket from Dublin to Istanbul on the 3rd of December, there were two flights one from Dublin to London, second from London to Istanbul on the same day, the time between the arrival of the first flight and departure of the second was 50 minutes when I went to the registration of second flight in London airport, registration had been closed and I could not fly as I understood registration closes 1 hour before the flight, it means they sold me an unflyable ticket. I missed return flights as well. I wrote to them numerous emails explaining the situation, provided proof of everything, however they try to blame everyone except them and they keep saying lies without hesitation. To tell a long story short I've lost over 1,000 euros due to them and they refused to compensate. So I am going to sue them. I have serious intentions to bring them to justice and make them liable for their actions, please those who have suffered from their services, share your story to help others understand what monsters are they. They have no service, their aim is to steal from you. SUCH Company should not be on the market! Let's join the effort to bring them to justice!

I used Trip.com to book a hotel room. I put in the dates, booked the room. Immediately I noticed the dates were incorrect, how this could happen I was unsure as I have booked hundreds of hotel rooms online (I travel a lot) and this has never happened with any other travel site I have used. This was my first time using this company. I contacted them immediately, literally no more than seconds after seeing the dates were incorrect. They said they would contact the hotel and see if I could cancel and rebook for the correct dates and they would call me. Thirty minutes later I get an email saying, "they attempted to call me, but no one answered the phone", LIARS! Considering my phone was in my hand the whole time... the email continued on, "the hotel would not cancel and reschedule". I called the hotel directly, as I am a regular customer with them, they said they were never contacted by Trip.com. Unfortunately since I had booked through that company, I would have to go through that company to change everything, but they would be happy to allow a cancellation and a rescheduling of the correct dates. Trip.com will lie to you and keep your money. AVOID THEM AT ALL COST... LITERALLY!

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM, I HAVE BOOKED A FLIGHT TICKET FROM DUBAI TO BANGKOK WHERE THEY HAVE RESERVE THE FAMILY NAME WITH THE FIRST NAME AND CHANGE THE GENDER.
THEY TOOK OUT THE MONEY AND I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT THEM FOR MORE THAN 4 DAYS WHERE THEY ARE LYING BUT MENTIONING NAME CHANGES SHOULD BE DONE BY EMIRATES WHERE EMIRATES CLEARLY CONTACTED THEM AND MENTIONED NAME CHANGES ARE DONE BY THEM WITHOUT ANY APPROVAL FROM THE EMIRATES.
I DON'T RECOMMEND AT ALL TO BOOK THROUGH THIS COMPANY, IT IS MONEY WASTE AND YOU WILL BE SICK BECAUSE OF THEM.
I LOST 8000 AED AND 1000 AED TELEPHONE CALL AND ENTERED THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE I AM UNDER STRESS BECAUSE OF THEM

I dont know what's your company vision or mission ask your client to trust Trip.com & take care of our trip. This is my first booking on Trip.com & this happened to me. I'm very dissatisfied & displeasure.

I'm very disappointed on my first booking on Trip.com. Ruined my whole trip, doesn't even have any mood to keep going on my trip the next day.

I've booked & confirmed my hotel reservation & received the offical receipt from Trip.com on 2nd of June 17:03 (MYT)

Actual check in date, 3rd of June 19:36 (MYT) received a email from Trip.com informing me that the hotel has fully book & refund the full amount to me. What the hell?!?!

How can be a travel agency simply cancel a confirmed booking hotel on the actual check in date?

Imagine you're on a vacation or trip, and u arrived on the destination & be told your pre-booked hotel has been cancelled, what do u feel? Where we going to find a hotel last min? What if there's no other any option? What if peak season all hotel are fully booked?

I've had several horrible experiences with this company.

Leaving China due to COVID-2019, the airline cancelled a segment of my flight. I phoned Trip.com to find out what was going on and they told me to contact the airline, to which I told them there was no way that it had anything to do with the airline. They were having none of it so caved in and I contacted the airline. I was told that it was the travel agent's that needed to change the flight! I phoned Trip back and asked for a supervisor four/five times and was told that there were none available each time. I told them I was willing to wait. Eventually, a supervisor was available and they defended the advisor's actions. Anyway, I ended up having to book a much more expensive flight due to their incompetence. Stupidly, I re-booked with them. I am an idiot for doing so.

Now, the airline I booked with have cancelled another portion of my flight back to China. I re-booked it for later (for free) but the airline have cancelled the later flight (as advertised in the Trip.com app). I asked the agent specifically if it was my preferred airline for all of the portions of the journey and they said yes. I found out later some of my journey was with a lower-standard airline. I had been lied to.

Now they are saying that if I wish to change my cancelled flight, I need to pay more!

It beggars belief! DO NOT USE TRIP.COM

They always have misinformation about the connecting flights. I had to do self transfer at connecting airport cuz of these guys. Never rely on the Trip.com for connecting flights.

Credit card scammers use TRIP.COM which allows use of credit card without OTP. Total frauds. Don't go to TRIP.CoM. You will lose money and peace. China is a scam

Great quick response

I booked a European vacation used TRIP for 2 flights and 3 hotel reservations -received 2 refunds in 2 days was told to hold off on the other until airlines updated there policy w/ regards to COVID-19, the telephone contact was quick and very responsive, ie. I wasn't directed to a website, wasn't put on hold for 30 min I am very appreciative of there customer service during these trying times
Agoda for 1 hotel no refund as of this time

Orbitz for for 1hotel; refund has been approved very quick response on the website
Travelocity for my flight San Jose CA - Barcelona, Paris-San Jose CA; are offering a voucher
I Booked directly w its Swiss air for 2 flights; applied for a refund have not heard back
So in the future I will book all my hotel and flight w/ TRIP

I reserved through trip.com and I was a loyal customer with them having booked many hotels and flights and I'm a platinum member. I reserved a hotel in Dubai via the app. However, the app had previously had dates already in the search engine. Due to this, the booking I made was on the wrong dates. My mistake had already purchased the hotel. I called the hotel and they told me to contact Trip.com to amend my dates, then called Trip.com who made me wait for days telling me that they wouldn't modify the dates even though I was prepared to pay extra to stay on the original dates I wanted. After a long and painful conversation back-and-forth I was told my money would be taken. Even though the hotel had told me it was fine to amend the dates while trip.com told me that the hotel did not agree so I had to send proof by email from the hotel which I reserved from.
People do make mistakes and it's very shameful that they've been using the excuse of the hotel hotel when the hotel was willing gladly to change and modify the dates. I think Trip.com should learn a lot from Booking.com and Tripadvisor. Customer satisfaction is above all.!

They booked the reservation under their company name and credit card so you cannot cancel booked for the 4th of January it was automatically sent to the 11th our fault we didn't check get to the hotel and it's for the following week called immediately within 24 hours couldn't get anyone didn't realize the bottom of the line that says absolutely no refund it is a scam company no hotel has ever even heard of them so we were stranded in Amelia island but no hotel the company is a scam trust me stay away I called another hotel which were booked and they said do not use them they have problems with them because they give people rooms and then non-existenthow these people are still in business is beyond me they're probably not even from the United States

I have been waiting for a refund for a year and a half since the flight was cancelled due to a pandemic. During that time I have been misled, given contradictory information and generic answers that were not in accordance with the questions asked. The most unprofessional service provider, all the other companies refunded the tickets promptly, but Trip and Malindo believe that honest business practices do not apply to them. I was issued a voucher on 11Feb and informed about it in Mid June because I complained that I cannot accept voucher since I am no longer in Asia and there is a ban on non-essential travelling. But for Trip and Malindo pandemic appears to a blessing, unlike to the rest of us. So when the voucher expires on 11Feb 2022, they will keep the money for the service they have not provided. CHOOSE OTHER COMPANIES. DECENT ONES. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE BOT POSITIVE COMMENTS AND GENERIC COMMENTS THEY ARE GOING TO LEAVE TO JUSTIFY THEIR CORRUPTIVE WAYS.

According to the Word of Policy document from the AXA Travel Insurance I bought from Trip.com, I had the right for a refund as per what was written in there:

"You may cancel this policy within 14 days of receipt of the policy documents (new business) by writing to or calling us at the address or number shown on your travel insurance certificate during the Cancellation period. Any premium already paid will be refunded to you providing you have not travelled and no claim has been made or is intended to be made and no incident likely to give rise to a claim has occurred. Any Cancellations after this 14 day period will not be refunded."

I requested more than 4 times for a refund before my flight happened on the 6th July, within the 14 days of receipt of the policy documents on the 2nd of July, and was always denied a refund.

It is unfortunate that I had to come to Sitejabber to leave a review to get a refund, but thanks to Sophia, the manager of the customer success team, I was able to get it.

Unfortunately again, they have also processed a refund for the Airhelp add-on, which I was already using, so I am just hoping my claim with them is not going to be voided because of this.
