A very useful site to find information about travel destinations as well as photos and reviews from travelers who have been there. The hotel metasearch compares prices from major online booking agencies which makes finding the cheapest rate in real-time a breeze.

Tried booking hotel in Phuket, went through procedure to pay & finally told hotel is not responding so contact hotel quickly. You try contacting them! I didnt know if credit card took payment & had no way of finding out quickly. Will not risk using Trivago again

I recently saw the trivago commercial on TV and thought I would give this site a go as I was about to start planning our annual ski vacation. I'm planning this trip every year now for years and wow it did go way faster this time! I'll definitely keep trivago in mind for next year's trip and make sure to tell my friends about it.

Went on their site, clicked on the hotel I wanted, a window opens up telling me they're getting my info... nothing happens. I couldn't book anything if I wanted to, judging by the reviews, that's a good thing. I'll remember that next time I see one of their annoying ads with an unshaven, unkempt slob with his shirt tail hanging out, lol!

When watching afternoon tv, we have Trivago shoved on us three times in a row at almost every commercial break. I wouldn't use Trivago simply because of their commercials overkill.
One commercial run at a time and possibly two during an hour-long show would be sufficient. We turn on "mute" to block out these commercials. Enough is enough!

Only after the booking is complete will you learn that there is an additional "resort fee" on "the total price" quoted. At the same time, you learn that if you cancel, you will be charged a $40 cancellation fee.
The total price quoted was $125. The actual charge on my credit was $164. Cancellation would have cost me $40.
This is definitely illegal, but I don't have the energy to fight over $39.

Beginning from our arrival we were greeted with stunning views and wonderful people. We were in paradise. But then the nightmare from hell broke loose. Our room at Aston at The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach was old and worn, the service was poor and the staff didn't seem to care. Although food and drinks on property are pricey, there are shops nearby and a market in the lobby to purchase any items you may need. Upon my wife visiting the market in the lobby area, she was approached by one of the male workers about having a drink later that night. When we complained to the management they apologized and said they would look into it. When we returned home, we also wrote a letter to the general manager about our terrible experience we had at Whalers Village
Tip for consumers:
Look elsewhere.

Booked through them, had appt. At mayo so here for health issues and so reserved on the Sunday before. We show up the Wednesday after and they don't have any reservation for us, and the last straw there is no way of getting a hold of them. The numbers they give you they hang up on you or they say can't leave a message because the box is full. And did send complaint via message at 2 pm Midwest and get a response that customers service is closed. WORST I am with an ILL child! So getting charged twice! Will fight it! Never use this site!

I was about to book a hotel via booking.com for the world cup in Brazil when I came across trivago while googling. What a great discovery! It compares so many booking sites, sometimes there is just a tiny difference but you can get very lucky and the amount you can save is quite big, especially during such an event. It's definitely worth a look before booking. I ended up booking the same hotel on a different booking site.

Firstly, I didn't like the reviews from users about this site. But lately these ads are pissing me off. Anytime you open any video online you get this ad so irritating. I hate this name trivago. I hope that company goes down so they stop the ads.

Booked a *******@hoteling.com using Trivago. They took my money and did NOT book my room! No phone # for hoteling.com and no answers to my numerous emails.
When I contacted Trivago they played Ponticus Pilate and washed their hands claiming
"There is nothing we can do"!. Lies, lies, and more damned lies! Check out their incessant TV commercials. Stay away from this thieving web site.

Dear James,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Thank you also for getting in touch with us directly through our user support center on our site. Please bear in mind that we are in the process of assisting you with Hoteling.com directly to resolve your issue as swiftly as possible.
We have informed you already that as a hotel search and not a booking site, trivago is not involved in the booking process between the user, the online travel agent and the hotel, and therefore cannot, in any way, claim financial responsibility for the transaction process between these parties. Trivago keeps no records of the transactions made through the booking sites and cannot alter or access your booking in any way. In order to make any changes, cancel, or confirm your current reservation, you will need to contact Hoteling.com which we are assisting you with. This is the honest truth and what you can and should expect from trivago is that we will always strive for maximum transparency.
On trivago, users can search and compare different hotels and prices on our site. We pull information from multiple OTAs and display the prices together. However, once a user clicks through to ‘view deal’, they are directed to the appropriate booking site which provides that price to complete reservation and payment details. Trivago doesn't actually have any involvement in the making of the booking.
We will continue to do our utmost to assist you in resolving your booking issue with Hoteling.com.
Kind regards,
Trivago User support.
Have booked all ranges on this site from my backpacker trip around Europe to my 5 star resort in Punta Cana.
Highly recommend this site. For hotels it is very good pricing from what I have researched.
Tip for consumers:
I would recommend using this to book mostly in South and Centra America maybe Caribbean if you find a good deal.
However, be careful sometimes looking on national websites or websites within the continent you are going is cheaper.
Quick Example: I was booking directly when in Berlin, my friend suggested I try a German website and it gave me a better deal by roughly €40.

I really like Trivago, it works like a meta search for hotels. You just need to enter your desired location or hotel, select dates and filter for your preference and you get a bunch of results from various booking sites. It's very intuitive to use and page loading times are really fast in my opinion, I use the page frequently to check for hotels.

Spoke with beverly very nice and understanding, the hotel is comfy and has a indoor pool, free good breakfast, pleasant place to stay for a weekend. Everything from restaurants, shopping, lounge very close by that's a Plus :) Just hope that the parking spot for costumers get renovated! To many holes, cracks;/

I also wanted to share my experiences as a lot of reviews here are negative, and I am really confused by that.
I used Trivago at least 10-20 times during the last couple years and this is the perfect hotel comparison site.
I agree that sometimes not everything goes right with the booking but the mistake is on the side of the hotel or booking agency.
Conlusion: If you are looking for an easy to use hotel comparison site: Don't go anywhere else.

I review the website for Falmouth Mass as a friend was attending a wedding. I found the Carleton Circle Motel and upon click on the pictures. I was taken back a good 20 years with their room attire. Wow just holy wow... I would not pay $50.00 a night to stay in this place. Actually I wouldn't ever stay there EVER! That is really disgusting. Trivago should be ashamed. But it is about the almighty dollar... Not about you or I the consumer.

I use Trivago.com mainly to compare prices and get a quick overview. Because all the information is at one website I can easily compare rates for different cities. Sometimes this can even affect my choice of a destination. It really is all about getting a good deal, and I like that Trivago.com can help me with this a lot.

I saw an advertisement of this site on TV and decided to give it a go. I'm about to plan a trip to europe and their claim to help you save money sounded promising... i didnt book anything with them yet but on first sight it seemed like they actually stick to their promise. I entered a bunch of hotels i already visited and i indeed found a better deal compared to what i paid before via priceline for the same hotel.

Being very stressed out from moving across country & just having heart surgery, the staff took such great care. The place was very clean & had all the extras. Manager was the best. I couldn't be more pleased. A must stay. Tell them Lauren sent you.

After doing due diligence and researching Trivago reviews, I ran the dates for an upcoming Vegas trip through their website for a particular hotel for two rooms, two nights each. I then called the hotel directly and found the same room for $50 cheaper for a total savings of $200, plus other perks like 35% off Circ Du Soleil tickets, free cancellation, and free buffet. Was so happy I booked on the spot. Trivago blows!
Tip for consumers:
Always try calling hotel directly after getting Trivago quote.

One of the most useful sites in the web. I'm a very spontanious traveler, therefore trivago is perfect for me. As short-notice booking usually goes in hand in hand with higher prices, trivago can save me some bucks, that I will gladly invest in more shopping:-) Clean design, a big range of hotels and easy handling.

Don't use Prestigia. I searched for hotel room via Trivago in Boston... was directed to Prestigia, booked one night at Boston Marriott Long Wharf. When I arrived (past midnight) at hotel I was informed by hotel clerk that 1) they had no record of reservation for me and 2) hotel was sold out, no rooms available. So at that late hour I had to scour Boston to find replacement hotel room for me. So... Prestigia via Trivago completed failed me, a disaster... warning- do not use Presitiga, I will also not be using Trivago again, can not take the risk of another failed transactional me or my family. There is something deeply flawed in the Prestigia operation.

I looked for hotels in Barcelona and only half of the suggested hotels are actually in Barcelona. Why can normal sites like booking do this but trivago can't?

We went to book a hotel and received an error message saying that the reservation could not go through. Booked again and after receiving the message a second time just booked directly through the hotel website. Go to bank account and was charged twice for the room. When we called to dispute the charges they said they could not refund the money. I'm not sure how these people can sleep at night. We have lost over $800 dollars because of their shady business practices. There are plenty other travel sites to use. DO NOT EVER USE THEIR SITE.
