Trivago completely messed up my reservation and once I arrived at the hotel (they had the wrong date thank you Trivago!) the hotel said they had nothing to do with the TRIVAGO reservation and I would have to call them. No telephone number was given, I had to do it online. It was late I was exhausted and I couldn't change the reservation. I was unable to do anything until I checked in. I will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

Dear Derald,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

We would really like you to get in touch with us directly at info@trivago.com with all relevant info so that we can assist you.

If you could answer the following questions when you email us that would be great:
Are you receiving actual emails to your inbox, or are you seeing an advertisement on the side of your screen? If it is the former, could you please tell us the email address of the sender that you have been receiving the mails from? If you could forward one of the emails that would be very helpful.

If it is the later, then the email in question is actually a sponsored advert displayed in your inbox. Unfortunately, trivago has no control over whether you can block or delete these adverts. We would recommend contacting your email provider for further information on this.

We look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Kind regards,
Trivago User support.

In November of 2016, after contact with a Trivago representative, I agreed to purchase a Trivago PRO listing for my small, three room bed and breakfast.

On November 17,2017, I received email notification that my PRO listing had been successfully renewed. This new subscription will have a new term of 12 month(s) after the current one ends".

At 2:42 AM on 11/17/17, immediately upon seeing the notice of the annual renewal, I emailed Trivago telling them I did not want to renew. At 2:44 AM I received an email from Trivago Subject: Your request has been received - please do not reply to this email stating they would send a reply as soon as possible.

My refusal of the renewal was one day prior to the expiration of the 2016 annual subscription which began on 11/18/2017.

Unbeknownst to me, automatic renewal was instituted by Trivago when the PRO account was set up a year ago. This is something that I did not and would not have agreed to. Why would anyone agree to automatic renewal with no track record of how effective the first year's service would be? They wouldn't.

Trivago is a horrible, greedy, sneaky company whose main goal seems to be to take money from small lodging owners. I received no business from my first year's listing with them and yet have been forced to pay for another year's subscription. $415.96 for two year's of NO return. Small business owners beware!. DO NOT BE TAKEN IN BY THEIR SALES PITCH.

We celebrated 50th wedding anniversary of our parents in Saffron Leaf hotel, GMS Road on 12th June, 2016. It offered a complete package of an expansive banquet, delicious food and exotic ambience.
All arrangement by the Banquet Manager, Mr. Uttam Rawat were at par with the reputation that precedes it. Apart from managing the arrangements, he took personal care of our guest as well. The food arrangement was well taken care of by Chef Kulbeer Rana under the supervision of Mr. Qureshi. The food and services provided were value for money and were simply great.
All in all an amazing price performance point.

Trivago is running a scam by showing lower rates for hotel bookings. It shows you a lower rate... you are happy & excited and make the booking.
Two methodologies:

1. Through Snaptravel.com: You will be shown a lower rate. In the fine print, they will mention that the hotel will charge you xxx amount. It will be seemingly harmless as if a part of amount shown for the booking will be collected by the hotel. THAT IS NOT RIGHT - YOU WILL PAY THE AMOUNT SHOWN ON THE WEBSITE + THE FINE PRINT AMOUNT. You will pay 200% of the amount you were supposed to pay.

2. Through Hilton Advanced Purchase: Will show you lower amount. You make the booking. If you want to make any change, there is only one way to get it done, Hilton's advance purchase team on 800 number. You can camp on this number for hours, days, months, years... no body will pick up the number because you will just hear the "hold music" and get frustrated. There is no Advance purchase team. If you call different Hilton numbers - HONORS, GUEST SERVICES, CALL BACK, poor team members can only demonstrate helplessness. HILTON: PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL YOUR REPUTATION

BEWARE DO NOT MAKE ANY BOOKINGS THROUGH TRIVAGO BECAUSE THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TO HELP, IF YOU ARE STUCK ANY WAY.

Tip for consumers:
DO NOT BOOK THROUGH TRIVAGO

Dear Ashley,

I am very sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with your hotel search. Since there is always only a certain contingent of offers, what often happens is that the best deals can be out of stock quite quickly. This may not always be updated by the booking site in real time. Please note that we only display prices as given to us by the booking sites.

We apologize for any inconveniences caused and hope that this will not deter you from using trivago in the future. What you can and should expect from trivago is that we will always strive for maximum transparency.

To help you find your ideal hotel for the best price, we are continuously updating the thousands of prices the 250+ booking sites are offering for over 900,000 hotels. As much as we would like to guarantee 100% price consistency at all times, this is unfortunately an impossible feat.

Please let us know if you require any further assistance by getting in touch with our user support team at info@trivago.com

Kind regards,
Trivago user support.

Trivago what a nightmare!. I just went to trivago to make a hotel Reservation in Charleston SC (I live in VA). I went to the website, found a hotel, booked it. Unfortunately I had to put my credit card information. I got a confirmation #, as I was reading the confirmation document, I notes it was booked for only one person. I called the hotel to ad my husband (two people instead of one) They couldn't find me with the confirmation # I had, and they couldn't find me with my name. In other words $514.00 was taken out of my account and I have no hotel reservation (be careful if you are send to Otel.com) As all this was going on... I got a text message from the card fraud alert department. Apparently they took my money out of my account from Istanbul. They offer the room for $135 a night. The hotel says that their cheaper room is $299 a night. Be careful people. In the mean time, they took $514.00, I have no hotel reservation, my card had to be canceled, and I am pissed of. No one to complain in triage. I want my money back.

I booked a hotel through Trivago in June and was referred to the Clever-hotels website (run by Nalvear GmBH in Hamburg Germany). We received an email on Friday to say that the company had gone into insolvency and the booking has been cancelled. Now, we assumed this was bad luck-bad news but these things happen... that is until we searched online for this company and discovered that people have been having problems with this company since 2012 and had been complaining to Trivago about it for months PRIOR to us booking our hotel (that will teach me for trusting Trivago and not doing my own research on the hotel-lesson learnt on my part!). It seems that clever-hotels was trading under another name which then went into insolvency, then changed to Navlear-GmBH-which has now gone into insolvency-how long until they change their name again and Trivago allows us to book a hotel with these scam-artists?

I realise that Trivago cannot be held responsible for every travel company that goes bust, but I do believe they have a responsibility to act upon information suggesting that a website they are advertising is a scam and remove that website from theirs otherwise they are as guilty in the scam-I bet their commission was still paid while all of the customers hotel rooms have not been!

I was looking for one night accommodation in Rome, clicked on the Trivago site, selected the date as 22 September 2016 (out on the 23rd). A number of hotels came up so I selected the Romanico Palace and Trivago transferred me to another site called Hoteling. I liked the price so I filled out the details quickly as there is a clock pushing you along by counting down the seconds. All this time I thought the original date of 22nd September was still in effect as this was what I entered originally. However, unknown to me, because there isn't a clear invoice detailing dates and prices I bought the booking. Then up pops another window giving me a JULY date! Where did that come from?! I cancelled quickly hopefully it hadn't gone through but to no avail. I was stung! Hoteling won't refund the money which I believe I was wrongfully taken from me due to an error in their system. I asked Hoteling to just transfer the funds the to date that I want but they also refuse to do this. I now notice that there are a large number of bad reports about the conduct of Hoteling and from my very bad experience I advise everyone to avoid using Hoteling at all cost. I can't understand why Trivago uses this company. In my opinion Hoteling isn't a reputable company. Beware Hoteling.

I had booked a flight from Madison, Wi to Seattle, Wa in September. Plan was to leave Madison on Dec. 22nd and be with my daughter and grandchildren in Seattle for Christmas. I received a confirmation email from Orbitz on Sunday Dec. 20,2015, confirming the flight. So, I showed up at the airport on Dec. 22,2015, and was told I no longer had a flight. American Airlines told me that Orbitz had switched me to United. The United flight had left sometime around 8 AM and there were no more flights. United told me that Orbitz had canceled me on the flight. Subsequently, I spent about 3.5 hours on the phone with Orbitz, crouched in a bent position because there was no where to sit, trying to find a way to get to Seattle. Orbitz just continued to blame ME for my not having a flight, saying they had emailed me in October telling me my flight had been changed. Wrong. Orbitz emailed me in October telling me my flight on American had been moved from 1:30 PM to 12; 30 PM on Dec. 22nd. Nothing else. And I have all the emails to prove this. I was devastated that I couldn't get to Seattle for this long-planned-for Christmas celebration. Ultimately, I left the airport with no resolution, just blame of me, went home, and spent the next 2 days attempting to get resolution from Orbitz. Nothing. My sister then joined in attempting to get something from Orbitz. Orbitz just continued to blame me. And, then, they blamed United. Suffice it to say, there has been no resolution. Christmas with my family was ruined. I will NEVER use Orbitz again and I highly recommend no one else use Orbitz again.

Dear Tanya,

Thank you for getting in touch.

Wea re very surprised to hear that you are having this issue with your hotel search.

Please bear in mind that trivago's American and Canadian platforms show prices per room per night before taxes and fees are included. This may be the explanation for the price difference. We have run several tests, and this proves to be the most recognized and common way for both retail and online products to be displayed within North America. Therefore, we try to remain as localized as possible for our different users.
The majority of our European platforms display prices already including taxes and fees, as this is the norm in these countries.

If you have further inquiries please get in touch with us directly at info@trivago.com

Kind regards,

One month ago I have searched a hotel in Kefalonia, Greece via Trivago. In the list of hotels Trivago offered for the requested destination, I found a suitable one, which had address confirmed ( Poros, Kefalonia, Greece).

I booked this hotel through Booking.com, as Trivago redirected me to.

Yesterday, exactly 3 days prior my journey of 1200km by car, a hotel owner gives me a phone call to agree on time of arrival, and we both realize that the hotel that has been booked is not at Kefalonia at all. It is in fact on the opposite part of Greece, on the island of Poros, 7 hours ( 400km) away from my wanted destination. I cannot cancel my booking, or I would have to pay full amount ( 1040), so I have to travel now to a NON-WANTED destination, I have additional cost of booking another sleep over room along the route, as my voyage is now 14,5 hours drive instead of 10. I have to rearrange my travel times, as I have to start the journey one day in advance. What a waste of money and time, thanks to TRIVAGO. This is a very negative first experience with Trivago.

This has lasted over a year, with promises that trivago will look into the matter. Last year ibooked 2 rooms at the Zion Lodge in Utah for 3 knight. When i arrived at the lodge with my wife and her 2 elderly parents we were told there was no reservation and no rooms available, Trivago never booked the rooms. The manager at the lodge after about 2 hours was able to find me 2 rooms at LaQuinta outside the park. Trivago took the money for the reservstion immediately upon booking. Zion Lodge manager told me this is not the first time trivago has done that. We were inconveninced because we had a lower grade rooms, no fireplace, smaller and ended up outside the park, Trivago offered me a compensation of 10%. I refused because the inconvenience was no even near what hardship it cause me and my inlaws. I was told that this would be investigated at a higher level, It has been 1year and 2 months and i havent received any communications from management. They are trying to discourage me from this claim by keeping silent, well i'm still here and here is my story. Trivago, I hope this happens to one of your elderly family members then you will see what its like. Still waiting.

Since Trivago includes scammers in its listings, you could get cheated. You may see something that is cheaper than the well know brands like Expedia and book through them. Your credit card will be charged but you will not have a hotel room at the end of it all. This is what happened to me:

I was looking for hotels in Cancun and remembered the Trivago ads and decided to give them a try. It was very easy to use, I found prices that were cheaper by ~ $50 - $100. I decided to book through them. I tried Otel.com and my card did not get through. It said international transaction refused. So I decided to go with Hoteling.com. Everything went smoothly saw the reference number screen etc. But I never got a confirmation email. I followed up with them and received this email three days later.

"I am very sorry to inform that we were unable to confirm your booking. However full refund has already been processed and should appear on your account within the next 14 days, depending on bank clearing times."

Notice they did not offer to make it right!

Since they did not deliver, I can easily dispute these charges with my credit card company.

I took a vacation day to book my vacation. My time is worth a lot. Now I have to go back and look for other hotels and meanwhile prices would have gone up (travelling during the peak season).

I have decided to invest my lunch time to post these reviews in as many websites as possible. Please help others by reposting and sharing wherever possible.

If this will save one person from going through my experience, the precious time spent writing this review (and posting it) will be well worth it!

Dear Anamika,

As a hotel search, trivago is not involved in the booking process between the user, the online travel agent and the hotel, and therefore cannot, in any way, claim financial responsibility for the transaction process between these parties.

Nevertheless, before displaying rates from a booking site on trivago, a background check on the company is always conducted to ensure that their customers have the opportunity find the deals offered on their website. This background check has been completed for the OTAs you have mentioned above.

Trivago does not display deals from any site that does not pass our initial integration check, or where there are any reports that the site is not reliable. As we endeavor to display all online hotel offers globally, we believe that we would be doing a disservice to our users if we were to ban a booking site.

We function as a portal for hotels to advertise themselves, as well as a meta-search for booking sites to display their rates and increase the traffic to their companies.

Our main goal is to help people find that particular ideal hotel to fit their needs, then they can book it however they choose.

What you can and should expect from trivago is that we will always strive for maximum transparency.

Therefore we recommend that our users take further steps to review the booking site’s rating score. All rating scores are prominently displayed next to the logo of each booking site on trivago and are continuously reviewed by fellow trivago users.

If you need any further assistance with this issue or any other then please do get in touch with us at info@trivago.com

Dear Steve,

Thank you for your message.

However, as a hotel search and not a booking site, trivago is not involved in the booking process between the user, the online travel agent and the hotel, and therefore cannot, in any way, claim financial responsibility for the transaction process between these parties.
