Cheap hotel, smells of ethnic food, looks bad on outside, rooms ok but need detail cleaned and painted. Bathroom need help. No fresh toilet paper. Lobby dirty and messy with owners kids stuff. Pool nasty with werid algie on bottom. Ice machine not working. AdAdvertised breakfast... burnt coffee reaked in lobby with a packed honey bun on plate. Cheap enough for one night but never go again.

Dear Nati,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on Sitejabber.

We are more than happy to reach out to Happyrooms on your behalf and request that they get in contact with you as soon as possible to provide you with the necessary assistance.

However, as a hotel price comparison site and not a booking site, trivago keeps no records of the transactions made through the booking sites and cannot alter or access your booking in any way. In order to make any changes, cancel, or confirm your current reservation, you will need to do so with Happyrooms.

On trivago, users can search and compare different hotels and prices on our site. We pull information from multiple OTAs (online travel agencies such as Expedia or Booking.com) and display the prices together. However, once a user clicks through to ‘view deal’, they are directed to the appropriate booking site which provides that price to complete reservation and payment details. Trivago doesn't actually have any involvement in the making of the booking.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. I will do my utmost to assist you.

Kind regards,
James Morrison

My room at the Hampton Inn was booked at $119.00. My Daughter's was $59 through a different hotel search. Was the same night, same type of room & accomidations. Trivago is a total ripoff! Have deleted their app! Thank you very little!

Hello Denny,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We have sent you a private message to provide you with assistance and provide further information. I would also like to clarify things for those that may read your comments.

Firstly, it is important to bear in mind that we do not set the prices for the hotels, nor take part in any of the booking process. What trivago does is simply displays the deals from the booking sites all together, in one place, for users to compare and choose from.

Our main purpose is to help users find their ideal hotel at the best possible price. We function as a portal for hotels to advertise themselves, as well as a meta-search for booking sites to display their rates and increase the traffic to their companies.

Sometimes booking directly with the hotel can be cheaper if they are promoting special rates, however, for the most part, their sell rates do not fluctuate as much as those which are sold through booking sites. Our main goal is to help people find that particular ideal hotel to fit their needs, then they can book it however they choose.

We are also currently integrating Direct Connect, which is a service where hotels can directly display their own rates on trivago and promote themselves this way.

We hope that the above clarifies things from our side and explains how trivago works in more detail.

Kind regards,
James Morrison

We were phoned by there sales team to sign up for a 12mth listing which we paid by credit card. Without our authority they held our card details and charged our card to renew the listing for a further 12 months without any notification they were doing it in the middle of the lockdown. Tried calling them about it but have not replied to our emails. This is a shocking way to deal with there providers and I will have to chargeback our card as this has never been authorized and in my view is just straight fraud.

Tried booking a hotel twice on this site, convinced I had a great deal to be redirected to a booking site for a completely different hotel and a way higher price. When I complained they fixed the link, then it happened AGAIN! Sooo frustrating wasting your time researching a hotel to book only to realise it was misleading advertising. I ain't gettin that time back!

Just came back July 15 after ten days at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo with a party of 21. This is the tenth time we have stayed at either the Lindo or the Maya. Once again, our vacation was outstanding and the staff was excellent. Just to name a few - at the front desk, Julietta, Christina, and Javier took great care of us from start to finish. In the restaurants, Delfina always treats us like family, and takes care of our every need. We love her. The hostesses, Stephanie and America, always remember us and make us feel right at home in any restaurant we eat at. At the concierge desk, Maya, Carlos, and Patricia made sure that all of our rooms and restaurant reservations were exactly what we wanted. Our maid, Maria, kept our rooms cleaned and stocked, and Gilmer and May with the Star entertainment are extremely friendly with everyone and do a terrific job around the pool and beach. Great food, great staff, great hotel. Already planning for next year's visit. - Robert from Colorado

Went thru Trivago app. They transferred us to reservation.com. When we called. We were in Pendleton, Oregon and needed a room. They charged us $71.00 to book at the RodeWay Inn. She told us it was nonrefundable and we would pay an extra fee to cancel. We should of hung up right then. We went to the Rode Way Inn. It was a old motel. You walk in to the room the chair in the corner was all wore out and dirty. The light socket as you walk in had just a light bulb in it. The door jam had big hunks of wood out of it. The wall was cement and painted white and dirty, The wind whistled under the door. I had to stuff a towel underneath it. The TV was very old and outdated. At least the sheet were white and the towels were white. I put bed bug patches all around. I have never been so disgusted in my life. I will never use Trivago again for anything. I have posted on my Facebook to stay away from them.

I saw several TV ads from Trivago so I decided to book with them for a trip to Chattanooga, Tn. I selected a Hampton Inn West and it gave a good rate but came up with the name Clarion hotel. I tried two or three times selecting Hampton Inn and the booking kept showing Clarion. I thought maybe they were owned by the same company so I completed the booking. When I arrived at the Hampton Inn last night they said I did not have a reservation with them. I asked about the Clarion. They said the Clarion used to be a Hampton Inn but it declined in quality and lost the license to be a Hampton Inn. They told me it happens all the time, people think they are booking Hampton Inn but are actually booking a lower class hotel. I have issued a complaint to my credit card company and hope they will remove the charge. I did cancel and stayed at Hampton Inn.

Trivago has NO phone to reach them. You are at their mercy with no recourse to change anything without shelling out money! They take 20% if you cancel within a week and they and their subsidiary travel site, Hoteling, is truly TERRIBLE and I NEVER plan to use them again. For me, a site and customer service from Hell!

Dear Saul,

We are afraid that the claims you have made are incorrect. Trivago is not involved in the booking process between the user, the online travel agent and the hotel, and therefore cannot, in any way, claim financial responsibility for the transaction process between these parties.

Trivago is a hotel search/comparison site and not a booking site. We keep no records of the transactions made through the booking sites and cannot alter or access your booking in any way. In order to make any changes, cancel, or confirm a reservation, you need to contact the booking site which you used.

Hotels distribute discounted rates to multiple booking sites which are usually under the normal BAR or sell rate which can be booked directly at the hotel. What trivago does is simply displays them all together, in one place, for users to compare and choose from.

Our main purpose is to help users find their ideal hotel. We function as a portal for hotels to advertise themselves, as well as a meta-search for booking sites to display their rates and increase the traffic to their companies. Our main goal is to help people find that particular ideal hotel to fit their needs, then they can book it however they choose. Trivago is not involved in the actual booking process.

As you cannot book on or through trivago, we do not provide phone support. Any booking issues need to be addressed with the company you made your transaction with. If you do have any issue on trivago you can find all the info you need in our 'support center' on our website - http://company.trivago.com/support/

Kind regards,
Trivago user support.

BIG RIPOFF - will never use again. I booked last Thursday for 2 nights (the next (day)Friday and Saturday) at Holiday Inn Express in Danbury CT. I was charged $104 by priceline.com (another ripoff I will never use again). Friday as we drove to Connecticut, I picked up hotels.com book - the price was $79! When I got to hotel they would have honored coupon except that I had already paid a third party. If I had just showed up and asked for the AARP or AAA rate, it would have been $99.

I stay in Bangalore and wanted to book a hotel for Coorg. So went to Trivago site. Checked a hotel called Manu Residency in Coorg and then when I wanted to book the Hotel it guided me to Travelguru site and once I made payment I was shocked to see the hotel is in Bangalore only and there is no such hotel in Coorg and my entire paid amount is gone as Travelguru Customer support says its nonrefundable. This kind of pathetic service is never expected from these sites. Even I have the screen shot of the technical mistake as well. I uploaded it. The hotel address which shown Coorg doesn't have any branch in coorg.
I will post my review and complaint in every possible site to make people aware of these frauds.
I wanted to give 0 rating but unfortunately I have to give minimum 1 star.

Dear Sandipan,

Thank you for your message and feedback.

We are extremely sorry to hear you have been wrongly redirected from our site. Occasionally we suffer from technical issues that may result in one or two hotels with a wrong or old connection. We are continually working to minimize this risk on a daily basis. However, we do advice all our users to double check if the hotel to which they have been redirected matches their selection from trivago.

It looks as though Maria from our user support team is assisting you with your booking issue and will be providing you will a full reimbursement for the error on our site. Please provide her with all requested information in order for her to do so.

Again we know that this must have been very frustrating for you and we would like to sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. We really hope that this will not deter you from using trivago in the future. What you can and should expect from trivago is that we will always strive for maximum transparency.

Kind regards,

I also didn't realise I wasn't dealing direct with TRIVAGO booked Crown casino Melb back in April, money sent through hoteling.com. Arrived from Qld into Melb to find no booking was ever made, my money was gone, as Crown advised Hoteling, com had gone belly up in July.
Nothing from TRIVAGO to advise of this. Surely you must be liable for using this company, held my money for 3 months before going under. Seemed like a great deal at the start, thanks for the nightmare. Will be telling others to avoid

I booked Spectrum Hotel and residencies in Udaipur on 23rd Dec 2017 for 2 nights. It is written on Trivago website this hotel is 0.2 Km from City Centre. Actually this hotel is 15KM away from City Centre. It takes 45+ mins to reach city center from hotel. This is wrong information to cheat the customer. This information has spoiled my vacation because of so much distance that I had to commute both my days.
