The company has garnered significant criticism for its customer service, with many customers expressing frustration over the lack of responsive support and difficulties in obtaining refunds. Common complaints include billing issues, inadequate communication, and a perceived lack of accountability for damages caused by sitters. While some users reported positive experiences with sitters, the overall sentiment reflects a sense of disappointment and mistrust, particularly among sitters who feel exploited by the fee structure. The company appears to prioritize marketing efforts over customer satisfaction, leading to a growing perception of unprofessionalism and dissatisfaction among users.

We where thrilled to find Trusted HouseSitters. So far we have used the service twice for over 2 weeks each time. We have 4 cats, 2 dogs and a small flock of chickens who were as happy and as content on our return as they were when we left. The sitters not only took great care of our pets but our home was as we left it too.
What more could you ask for? Someone comes in and stays in your home. They take care of your animals, keep your home neat and clean, and make sure that no one knows that you are gone. I have had two sitters this year and if I had hired a pet sitter to come and feed my babies for the total of 25 days that I had been gone it would have cost me $500.00. They would not have stayed and played with my cats or done anything other than feed them and clean the box. I have pictures from my sitters of the girls playing or being petted, etc. The service cost me $120/year and I get so much more. My sitter is insured and I get to interview as many as I like before I hire. How many pet sitters do you have available in your area? And these guys LOVE animals. My girls were so well loved while I was away I think they wanted to go with the sitter when I got home! Check it out! And if you want to become a sitter, you can travel the world over, just for your airfare. I have not decided yet to do this, but am considering it.
I love housesitting in France or abroad, and TH is a great help.
Easy to use, attractive presentation, with a lot of offers
I even want to spend my soon-to-come sabbatical housesitting with them!
That said, I can't comment on their usefulness in a crisis as i've never had one (fingers crossed)
I'm so grateful to Trusted House Sitters. They answer all of your questions when needed. I've had 7 sitters and each one has been a 5 star. I'm looking forward to my next sitter which is coming soon. I have a Ragdoll cat and they have dog personality. The sitters have been very caring. I recommend THS all the time!
Trustedhousesitters is a really good idea, and seems to be working perfectly well, so I guess it's run by professional, serious people. I am really happy using it.
I have done about 5 sits through TrustedHousesitters. Met some really lovely pets and their owners.
It is easy to find new sits and for owners to find me.
A year and a half ago I accepted my first petsit through TrustedHousesitters, and I've been traveling full-time all over the country and world since. I thought I might just take one year to travel, but I've been loving it so much that I'm on my second year, and not completely sure a third isn't in my future.
Petsitting allows me to travel on a small budget, and as I travel solo, I love how I can get to experience a city or country from more of a local perspective by staying in a home, getting to know the neighbors, and having pets to keep me company and grounded in life.
I love how this platform allows people to trade, whether it's our time or our home/pets. It's a beautiful system. I honestly couldn't recommend it more.
This is such a great community. I only wish I would have joined sooner. Costumer service is great when needed. Thank you guys.
Only trouble is that some of the home/pet owners don't bother replying or decaying, I think this should be mandatory. Other than that love it!
Thank you guys!
We joined Trusted House Sitters because we "down sized" a bit too early and found that lovely as our flat is, we were missing the countryside and pets - especially dogs. So finding this site has changed our lives! We have had wonderful sits in superb places with an assortment of pets and farm animals which makes this, one time small farmer, very happy indeed.
But perhaps just as important we have met some lovely families and it has been a huge privilege to support them when they take their holidays. As a bit of a lawn and grass geek, I have had fun trying to improve some pretty distressed lawns! Last year we spent nearly a quarter of the year with a great range of lovable pets in superb country locations.
I found this site quite a while ago but it wasn't until seeing a house sit in the city center of Stockholm that made me sign up. I love to travel but in order to get reviews, did sits closer to home. Each experience has been wonderful and the home owners, even better. It really helps to have the reviews to get an idea of what you're headed in to however, I've mostly sat for new members. I'm looking forward to doing future sits in Norway, Sweden, anywhere and everywhere. I'm completely happy with this site. (Attaching photos from my fun sits.)
TrustedHousesitters has really changed our life! We lost our beloved Pedro a few years ago and started travelling a lot shortly after... We couldn't keep another pet on our own, but now we can give all of our love to hundreds of pets around the world! We have met so many wonderful pets and people so far and plan to meet more in the years to come. And besides, the webiste and the whole thing works smoothly. Thank you so much, Trustedhousitters!
Will be taking our 4th trip next year using Trusted Petsitters and couldn't be happier knowing in advance that we'll have no worries. A fabulous idea that has been utilized globally.

Just completed my first pet/housesit and I've already signed up for another. It was very successful delightful dog and owner. This is a great way to travel and hanging out with pets.
We just returned from a week long trip and used TrustedHousesitters.com to locate and hire our sitter. 100% satisfaction! Our sitter was perfect and everything worked out wonderfully. What a phenomenal concept and company!
Stress free solution to finding a pet /house sitter. Each person or couple that have looked after our pet has gone out of their way to make it a positive experience. Our cat is always content and well taken care of and our home is spotless on our return. Customer service with the company is very reliable.
I live in a semi-rural area where it's very difficult to find local pet-sitters, especially anyone willing to stay in my house while I'm away (everyone here has their own homes and pets to tend to). I have 2 people-loving, indoor kitties who need plenty of playtime, affection, and a somewhat thoughtful approach to their diets. Since bringing them home 3+ years ago, I've hardly gone away because it's been so hard to find someone. Since joining Trusted House-sitters, I've gotten away twice, once for a long weekend, and most recently for 2 weeks. Both times I received several inquiries in response to my listing, and selected people with a track-record of 5-star reviews and a nice rapport over Skype. Both times I felt completely confident that my home and kitties were in excellent hands. The house-sitters were highly responsible, conscientious and reliable people. I received daily updates and photos, and came home each time to a perfectly tidy house and very contented kitties who seemed to adore the sitters. There's a bonding experience that happens all around-- the sitters practically become part of the family.
It's actually surprising to see any negative reviews for this site. It's possible that I've been fortunate to find great sitters because I live in a somewhat desirable vacation destination, at least for certain times of the year. My sense is that the sitters are people who enjoy traveling (and pets) and are joining this site in order to explore interesting places without having to pay for accommodations. That may be something to keep in mind before paying the membership fee.
We could not have asked for a better per/house sitter. She was kind, informative, tidy, and willing to make our time away from our pet and home as stress-free as possible. And she succeeded!
Great customer care and caring staff. My first experience was terrific - the people were incredibly hospitable and made me feel right at home. The Dogs were well behaved and fun what more could you want? I highly recommend (and have often) TrustedHouseSitters a true win - win.

I've noticed that some homeowners don't seem to have a good grasp of what to say about each of the specific headings: their home, their pets, and their community. I'm a house/pet sitter, and I've had only positive interactions with homeowners. I am wary of listings that say very little about the topic (such as the pet) or provide irrelevant information. Just put yourself in the other person's shoes & you might see that much of what you want to know isn't there. Then change your listing. And include more than 2 or 3 photos, and be sure they are representative of the subject. Each sit I've applied for involved multiple e-mails in which we each asked & answered questions, so after a time we both had a real sense that this was a good match. Even after a sit, I've found homeowners want to know what should be added or changed in their Welcome Guide to make it more useful to sitters in the future.
After six different sits In England, France, Canada and USA. That we enjoyed very much.
I would say the $120 membership fee is the best money I have spent in a very long time.
So far we have we have wonderful experiences and have had a a great couple come to sit our cat.
Highly recommended.
Answer: Fees are an annual membership for both homeowner and pet sitters (approx $120). With thousands of members, I've not had any problem finding a sitter.
Answer: Hi Jim, when house sitting it is expected that you will take care of your own cooking, etc. You will have full use of the homeowners kitchen facilities. We hope this helps. TrustedTeam
Answer: Yes. It depends on where you live but this couple is beyond question the best and dependable and honest. Debbie and Wil Wilburn. debbieandwillwilburn@gmail.com Please give my name: Fluffy's mom
Answer: Your accommodations are free. You still have to get there on your own. Since accommodations are often the biggest expense of a trip, it is a great deal. Use code RAF270183 to get 25% off you annual membership fee.
Answer: Hi Caroline, Thank you for your question, forgive my delayed reply. If you haven't already contacted the Membership Services Team (https://support.trustedhousesitters.com/hc/en-gb) I would encourage you to do so and they will help you to get this resolved. Kind Regards, The TrustedHousesitters Team
Answer: Hi Sada, You'll be able to read reviews of the sitters on their profiles. If there isn't anything showing, then this indicates that the sitter doesn't have any reviews just yet. If there is something else that we can do to help, please do get in touch with Membership Services, and we'll be more than happy to speak with you further. Kind regards, The TrustedHousesitters Team
