UHC canceled part D a few months after I became a resident of Portugal
In 2018 But left in force part C. I was under the impression at that time, that all supplement plans were canceled.
Forward to 2022 after canceling Medicare A&B I realized that the $181 being deducted from my account
Monthly was not Medicare, it wasUHC
I called UHC and they first asked for a boarding pass for my flight to portugal. To prove when I left the country. I provide this. They said at that time,
No problem refunding for payments automatically deducted from my bank.
Next they wanted proof of when I canceled part A&B. I canceled this just a few months ago. Now they say they will not refund me from the time partD was canceled by UHC automatically because I live in Portugal. Only when I canceled part A&B. There were no claims since I moved to Portugal.
So I had over $8000 deducted from my bank account over 4 years for insurance I could not and did not use.
Do I have a good argument for getting a refund for the years since part D was canceled or am I stuck just receiving the few months since I canceled part a&b?
Best regards Harry Freyn
Be careful the dirty secret is that UHC pay RNs and MDs to reject your care. They have recipes for having MDs, DOs and RNs argue with your doctor and they get paid to say no!
I took out a Medicare advantage plan with United Health Care. Ever since then I've received numerous calls from other health product providers who claim to be calling on behalf of United Health Care.
United Health Care "Partners" with 3rd party companies. Those companies call continuously to 'offer' their products and services.
I contracted with UHC for Health Insurance Coverage, NOT for them to sell my contact information to their affiliates.
I called back one of their affiliates, "HouseCalls" and successfully had my name removed from their call list (they've not called since). HouseCalls representative informed me that I would have to contact UHC customer service in order to have my name removed from lists with other UHC affiliates. However, when I contacted UHC about this, I had to go through 5 representatives (yes, explain the situation to each one), each of whom "... don't handle that issue" or did not understand what I was requesting them to do, before I finally reached a representative who did understand, and took my name and number off of their (I don't recall just what they termed this list) affiliate list. This representative also though to ask if I wanted my name and address removed from their affiliate usps mailing list. Why yes, thank you! As I never would have though to ask about that!
They do not have a direct number to resolve this issue. You have to call the regular customer service number and likely go through several representatives to have your name and number (and address) removed from their affiliate lists.
On the bright side, I did not have to call each affiliate individually, as this one call took care of them all.
No words for the suffering!
Sadistic farce. Denied Rx without proper review. Weeks to deliver THEIR DRGOD judgement on my life.
I had Florida Bue / Blue care and for years, UHC was my secondary insurance and never paid a dime for my Dexcom and diabetes supplys.
Recently I lost my Florida Blue and tried to get my Dr ordered Dexcom CGM and supplys. United refuses to pay.(There all working from home, dog barking in background) So now I will probabably not be able to control my diabetes efficently and when I end up in the hospital in which case they can pay out the $#*! for that possible hospital bill. This make any sense?
I can assure you I wont pay a dime to the hospital like so many ileagles in the country do everyday... And some folks I prsonally know.
I worked my whole life paid my taxes took care of my family been a good citizen and this is how I am treated by United Dontcare.
UHC paid nothing for my Dibetes supplyy for years, Florda Blue was excellent. Again does this make sense.
Maybe if I am illeagle crossing the border (Oh no hes a conserative white guy) I can get free medical care, a cell phone, free trasportation, and a thousand dollar check and anyone who has a baby here (They all do) is an automatic citizen. Who pays that hospital bill I wonder. Its unacceptable.

Stay away from them. They never answer a single question, or when they answer, they refer to a situation which is not yours, as if they had mixed up files and cases... eg: I asked them about coverage for my son who is studying abroad for a few months; their answer (as they have written it to me) is below. Seems like a robot who doesn't know what they are doing - the only answer I needed was the last sentence. The rest is very confusing. "Enjoy" this piece if you can!
They also rejected some care coverage because they said these were part of a "routine check up" when in fact they were part of the care of spine fracture (for which they had covered the costs of a brace and MRI etc). It took me several emails and calls to correct.
They are very expensive for standard routine medications vs other insurance companies I have had in the past.
And finally they easily claim some docs are out of network, so no coverage, until you remind them and... - oops indeed they are in network, we will pay you back.
Email (out of respect for the employee I "xxx" her name) if you can laugh a bit about this:
"Thank you for contacting United Health Care. My name is RXX, I hope you are doing well. I have received your message regarding benefits for foreign coverage details.
After the careful review, I see that the Services needed as a result of a flight on a privately owned plane.

As I have gone through your concern, I would like to inform you that as per the plan benefits only emergency service (ER and Urgent care claims only) are covered under your plan."
I had standard preventative bloodwork requested by my physician, following up on an annual preventative appointment. My doctor had literally put in all the requests as 100% preventative. Every code that was submitted by Quest Diagnotics (who performed the bloodwork) was preventative Z00.00.
Of all the bloodwork preventative tests (totaling over $600), United Healthcare only paid $18. Of it. They also decided to override my doctor's instructions and stated that SOME of the bloodwork wasn't considered "preventative" (even though UHC are NOT licensed doctors). This was disputed by my physician AND Quest Diagnotics - as they all stated that it ALL was considered "preventative."
As a result, UHC REFUSTED to pay for all of my bloodwork (even though they were getting $600. A month from my in premiums) - and, according to my phone call to them, before I had the bloodwork done, they told me that ALL THE BLOODWORK would be considered "preventative" and they would pay for all of it.
I've reported them to the State Insurance Commissioner -and they did nothing, as they're more of a just a mediator. There's NO ONE really governing this entity, so they continue to deny claims that they're supposed to pay and it would require a lawyer to hold them accountable.
Having worked in the medical field for many decades, I have personally dealt with dozens of health care insurance companies and medical plans. United healthcare is the scum-of-the-earth. Poison! Literally, dealing with UHC is like dealing with organized crime. We're in South Florida, a location in which UHC has more than 20 different lines of insurance. Physicians' offices are fleeing UHC like rats from a sinking ship. The reason: UHC cheats, steals, and conducts themselves in a disgusting manner. Our office, long ago, quit/disenrolled as contracted "providers" with UHC (Reason: We got tired of all of the dishonest conduct. They were absolutely impossible to "work with"). More recently, UHC acquired a "good plan" that we do participate in. Now, in a few short months, this health plan is awful -- doctors, patients, and anyone else that I've spoken to hates it. Example: The surgical practice than I'm in knows all too well exactly how to submit any/all documentation for surgery preapproval/preauthorization -- we now have dozens of claims, for 100% fully preauthorized surgeries, in which (after the surgery) UHC "denies" the claim and does not pay-the-contracted-rate for the bill, and instead requests "documentation" (i. E. the EXACT SAME documentation that had already been submitted before the surgery, in order to get a preauthorization). It's shocking to me that this type of willful, criminal conduct is tolerated and sanctioned. UHC should not be allowed to conduct business in the State of Florida. Their pattern of abusive conduct is nothing short of willful organized crime. (Note: I certainly would have "rated" UHC as "ZERO Stars" but it was necessary to fill-in at least One Star to submit this completely honest and accurate review).
Their Medicare Advantage plan is ok. The perks like dental, vision, OTC & fitness are decent too. Customer service is terrible! Outsourced techs speaking broken english, dropped calls, long wait times are typical
Answer: They are a scam. They deny claims and cancel policies while still collecting premium installments or payments frauding customers out of millions of dollars. Read BBB complaints.

Answer: Read your materials if it's offered with your plan it will be in there don't call UHC trust me we don't want to talk to you we hate the phone calls! Read read read read ohhhh and READ your materials! Learn how to use a computer log on to your website and READ YOUR MATERIALS ONCE AGAIN DONT CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE DONT CALL UHC DONT DONT DONT!
Answer: Yup, doesn't matter the "service" through these scammers, they deny EVERYTHING! It's their SOP
