Tutors are accessible and respond fast. The site is user friendly. I am impressed that my phone calls are always answered promptly. I highly recommend WyzAnt to everyone who needs professional academical help. It's been a wonderful experience. Thank you, WyzAnt.
I spent quite a bit of time preparing my profile for applying at Wyzant. They said it needed some work and I updated it. They still wanted changes so I tried again. They dumped me. I have vast experience with teaching and tutoring but they apparently want generic profiles that match their algorithms. So, much time was wasted and I moved on to friendlier tutoring sites.
Wyzant provided an easy way to select and contact a tutor. We have been very happy with the tutor we selected. He does a great job with our 7th grader and the convenience of having him tutor her in our home is great.
They do not care about their tutors and will delete your profile whenever they see fit, without reason or cause. I had a 5 star rating that I acquired after 3 years of tutoring on their site- and one day they just decided to delete it. It is an unreliable source of income, and when you receive income- they take a huge percentage of it- more than any other tutoring site (heytutor, tutors.com). Their customer representatives, Nichole and Darrien, were useless and unhelpful. There are many other better tutoring sites that are more respectful for their tutors and way more reliable!
I was a tutor with Wyzant for 4 years (American History/World History/Hebrew/SAT/GRE/Microsoft Excel/Word/Publisher/Powerpoint/Access/Outlook/General Computer). Worked with over 40 students, got the highest reviews. And with their commissions, Wyzant made plenty of money off my services, believe me. I taught in both the D. C./Metro and San Diego regions.
Last week, I was abruptly dumped from Wyzant because "I no longer figured in their core marketing metrics." HUH?! This, while I was in the midst of tutoring two clients FOR WYZANT. When I contacted Wyzant inquiring as to what was to be done about the students I was working with, they never responded. I know where their bottom line is.
The first one had (1) good experience then she cancelled minutes before the following session!
The 2nd tutor we tried ended the first session after 15 min and said there was no charge. Horrible experience!
I worked for wyzants for a year as something to do while job searching for a job after getting my masters. I had some tutoring and teaching experience at the college level but more from volunteering. I found it really easy, I started off slow picking up a couple jobs in different places but by the time I found a full time job I had 10 regular clients and was getting more people daily. It was a really good experience, I tried to post ads on a couple other places cause they didn't take a cut but never had any legit clients from the site. So I would rather have the site take a cut then not have clients. I was working with one client that had to get paid a different way because he was being paid by a nonprofit and the company really worked to get that all set up. The better I did the more ratings I got and the more people who wanted to tutor with me. I never had any problems with the site and I only had positive interactions with them.
The site works well, it's a very nice interface. I have have a profile for many years and have tutored 5 people in that time (so they don't give me much business). I tutor because I enjoy it. I don't want to do it full time and the extra cash is a nice bonus. I do not like that Wyzant takes 40%. I don't think they have done anything to be entitled to 40% past one lesson. The payout structure is absolutely criminal. Wyzant gets 40%? Why? If they weren't so busy digging through emails and charged 15-20% people wouldn't have to go around them and reduce their man hours sifting through emails!
I've been tutoring through wyzant for over a year now. You have to put the effort in to get students: email open job listings, make a good profile, answer emails, be flexible, and do a good job. I've done those things and been very successful. Yes, they take a huge chunk for commission but I wouldn't have any students otherwise and I love not having to worry about getting paid. Some students and families are great and some aren't but that isn't wyzants fault. Same with tutors. Wyzant at least puts some effort into maintaining credentials but its more like a craigslist for tutors and students, you're not paying them to screen everyone first, you have to put the work in. They also have a guarantee if the first session with a tutor doesn't go well. They are also transparent about all of these things up front. I'd prefer to keep all my money but I really have no complaints.
I'm a tutor and have been for a number of years. From my perspective, Wyzant does a great job. I charge what I want per hour; Wyzant takes their percentage for running this service, and I get the rest.
After many tutorings and many good reviews from students of my work, I sometimes get direct requests for my tutoring service.
The best thing is that Wrzant removes me from having to bill the students directly.
My 13 yr old preAP math (prealgebra/algebra) student was struggling and loosing confidence in her ability when i started looking for a tutor on-line and found WyzAnt. I was hesitant at first but emailed a tutor. Within an hour I was corresponding back and forth with a potential tutor for my daughter. I deceided to take a chance. She had been to labs at her school only to find 25 other students there all needing individual attention and limited time to get it. Mariana has worked with my daughter a couple of times now and my daughter now has the confidence back that she needs to continue. Mariana is very patient and seems to truely want my daughter to understand what she is doing. I would recommend her and WyzAnt to anyone. I only wish i would have done this sooner. It was well worth the money!
And then never did the work. He scammed me by saying that he could not give me an estimate on the work until I paid him $80 and then he just did not do the work. Thanks Joe H. Remember you may not pay what you owe but you will reap what you sow.
I have always needed a little push in the right direction and I have found that typee of help here at WyzAnt! Whenever I get stuck with a project I come here to figure out what it isd that I need to do to give me more insight to the project at hand and always find someone to help me get in the right direction when I get stuck! Best service!
I like working with WizAnt. I am an experienced educator. I like teaching one on one lessons and providing students with the right tools to become successful in class and beyond.
WizAnt is a good plataform that establishes the right connections in between students and tutors.
Payments are made on time.
WyzAnt has an accesible website, very easy to navigate.
I have been working with this company for a few month, so far I have had a rewarding experience.
Mark C. Is the best coach for AutoCad around, he was patient and informative of anything I asked regarding to CAD/ AutoCad. In my opinion he is the goto man for tutoring. Hats off to MARK C.! He helped me with every layer question and tool, Mark told me so much that I I will always be so thankful to him. Thank You Mark C.
In the beginning I also i had connection issues because I was mining crypto at the time, Mark hung in there for me, he kept reaching out to me. Thank You Mark Dustin D.
My first experience with WyzAnrt was generally good. My tutor from that session was busy so I reached out to a new tutor. I asked that the person "walk through" each operation on a take home excel test and see if i was doing them right. The site accused me of asking the tutor to take my test for me. I explained that I was never told that review the test content was against policy and that my intent was not to have the tutor take ity for me. I received no warning or second chance. WyzAnt would not reconsider.

tutor service
I tutored on Wyzant for a few weeks years ago. I got several in-person tutoring jobs, so I stopped tutoring through them since they take a portion of your profits. Then COVID hit and I decided why not go back to Wyzant? It's simple. My account had been deactivated from lack of use—I expected that. So I decided to make a new account. Somehow, i could no longer tutor because my profile wouldn't be approved. I tried asking why each time I changed it, and they said they couldn't tell me. I needed to highlight the irony here—people running a tutoring website with a basic profile example refusing to explain how to apply the basic profile so your profile could fit their unknown standard. Imagine tutoring and refusing to explain how the example can be applied to other areas/ more complicated problems.
So long story short, I wanted to be a tutor on their platform so I submitted all of the information they asked for and I finished a few tests they had, and after a few weeks they told me that my bio is not completed enough so I completed that and after about 10 days, they said I don't have a vetting experience, which essentially means I didn't provide them high scores And different tests but the problem here is that I was offering to do math for elementary school, middle school and high school and similar courses. So overall terrible terrible experience and I do not recommend.
I asked a tutor a question, got banned for the question I asked! Didn't know that some questions were considered as questions you shouldn't ask! I wasn't rude or inappropriate. If I could give them zero stars I would! My advice look some where else for a tutor because you never know what question will get you banned
I used WyzAnt to search for a tutor and within a week I had set up my
First session with a tutor. The profiles of tutors are so easy to read
And the web site is very user friendly. Even when I wasn't emailing
Tutors, tutors were emailing me giving their credentials and why they
Would be a good fit to tutor me. There is such a wide variety of
Tutors for so many different subjects that I am sure to use WyzAnt for
Any of my other tutoring needs. I loved the package deal that came
With pre-ordering credit from the website, as tutoring can get
Expensive it is nice to get a break anywhere you can, and WyzAnt
Definitely gives you the opportunity to save money and get extra
Credit for tutoring every which way you turn. The site also gives you
Tutors that are in your area, so finding a tutor that can meet at your
Home, or your college is as easy as 1 2 3. I loved using this website
To search for a tutor and definitely suggest this site to anyone else
Who is looking for a tutor.
Why would Wyzant suspend my tutor account after I pass their Maths, Excel, French and Algebra?t
Did nothing wrong, maybe because an African sounding name, I shouldn't apply to tutor at Wyzant?
This needs to be investigated to see if some other people have not been treated same way, we will see if there is a case for a class action lawsuit.
So if you are a tutor or student and was discriminated by Wy\zant, you should jioin to take a group legal case.
Technical issues take weeks to get solved. Support is mostly automated. It is disappointing for tutors and students who rely on the website for income or tutoring help.
I was worried and didn't know how to hire a good tutor. WyzAnt made it easy with the reviews and hours of experience that each tutor's profile included.
While WYZANT is convenient for parents, it offers much more than it delivers at the cost of 40% of a tutor's rate. Also, most potential clients NEVER put their credit card on file, indicating they are mainly "fishing," so one spends a lot of time sharing information without ever meeting the student.
2 of my professional friends and I have had profiles on Wyzant for about a year and ONLY 15% of students actually met with us and we spent a lot of time preparing lessons for little pay.
Finally, the company clearly does NOT care about EITHER the students OR the Tutors, but especially the latter, as it is mainly concerned about dominating The WEB. Quite frankly, I have had several parents recommend I NOT use WYZANT unless I "don't value my work and time." This has led me to share our experience with WYZANT. Remember: a good tutor values his/her work so you get what you pay for!
I am a Wyzant tutor and the experience has been great. So many whiners on here. If you feel 40% initially is too high, why not build your own site, manage it, market it, collect your fees, deal with charge backs and customer complaints, reply all the thousands of clients you will get, collect on bad checks... you get the message. We live in a society of whiners who will complain if they won a million dollars in the lottery.
Why would any parent be concerned about how much a tutor is getting paid? The client has already committed to paying that amount so who cares. I hope no whiners on here completed college because that would be so sad. With your degree you should be competent and resourceful enough to build your own tutoring company and pay tutors 100% while paying for marketing, payroll etc. Go ahead and try it.
I prepare for my lessons, tutor students in my local area through Wyzant, receive my earned income and love what I do. If I could build my own site I would have. Obviously I can't that's why I signed up with Wyzant and they're great.
Tried to find an Econ Tutor in the San Diego area. I contacted 10 on the list and 4 got back to me. The company BOMBARDED me with emails they "intercepted" between me and a couple of the tutors. Never got effective responses and was thankful I found Universitytutor.com! I found someone to help me out before my test!
I did send a follow up email telling Wyzant I would review them and let everyone know. They continued to insinuate, email after email, that I was defrauding them. I have NO INTENTION of putting money up front prior to at least talking with someone on the phone. Thank you for wasting a day I will NEVER get back!
STAY AWAY!
I love working with Wyzant! I signed on as a tutor a month ago and I have 3 active clients and will be adding 2 more next week. I've moved up a pay level, and should be up to 70% within a month. I'm planning on raising my rates in January when my client base is more secure to make up for the student discount. They increase my business by providing qualified leads, eliminating lost income from charge backs, non-payment, bounced check fees, etc. Their billing and payment system reduces the amount of record keeping I have to do for taxes. They have terrific SEO and other marketing. I can charge whatever I want, and I have compete freedom to tutor outside the company. The 'billing info on file' rule can be inconvenient and I understand they're working on improving the system. It provides some security so that I don't go to a fake address and get jumped. Their strict guidelines for tutors are important for maintaining their reputation for quality, which brings me quality clients. All they ask in return is a small fee and that I play by the rules. If you read the negative reviews by clients it's obvious that non-responsive tutors create an issue that costs all of us business. If you are committed to delivering quality services as a professional educator and business person, Wyzant is a great company to be associated with.
