Well developed sales process and on-boarding process, all the rest not so good. Need to wait months for issues to be finally looked into, duplicates are not being suppressed, info is incorrect on some listings... very disappointed with Yext

It is so funny that the try to put the screws to business owners by selling companies something which you can do yourself. They even attempt to say that the business owner has enter there information in correctly! I just told the person that I spoke to that she does not know what she say! I even told her that I enter the information on my own and I entered the information the way I wanted it to be!
I also told her that I have enter everything concerning my business for FREE so how the hell can you try to sell businesses something that they can do for FREE!
The best part is that I even told her not to ever call me and that her company does nothing but scam people. When she attempted to speak again she got a disconnection by me banging the phone down as I hung up! This company is such a waste! PEOPLE DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE FOOLS!

Nothing is life is free, but should I have to pay for nothing? I literally want nothing from Yahoo and Yext, yet seemingly have to pay to achieve that goal. Yahoo has a local business listing for my company that has our products incorrectly categorized. I just need it fixed, or deleted.
It's free to submit a change through Yext, but no guarantee Yahoo will approve and implement it. I could find no way to just request my business be removed, so I submitted a change/correction. When I submitted this change, Yahoo implemented a typo I inadvertently made, but did not implement the actual changes we desired regarding the product description. Status of my account is still listed as 'submitted'. This is telling!
*******@Yext.com has conveniently avoided answering my request to just remove my listing altogether, and has defaulted to the same canned response we all get... that I can make corrections on my dashboard but that "there is no guarantee that Yahoo will accept this information and implement a change since this is a free account."
My dashboard is correct. The listing is not. Yahoo will fix it if you pay, won't if you don't. I don't want to pay for a service I don't need, so it seems like the right thing to do to allow it to be deleted as I didn't put it there in the first place, but I seemingly can't unless I pay. Is this not like being held hostage? Maybe even the textbook definition of blackmail.
I see the reviews for Yext are mostly 5's or 1's, so it's like all or nothing with them. How do I just get to nothing...

I do find it frustrating that one has to pay to correct wrong information however that is not my criticism of YEXT. I do Search Engine Optimization and a client wanted to sign up, so I signed the client up and also signed myself up. The control panel is good and the service does correct incorrect information. This is my problem: the service did not generate any additional traffic to the client's website or my website and it did not improve either sites' ranking in Google. So I paid to correct some listings and to be put on directories that I was not on but it generated no traffic to either webiste and had no impact upon my ranking in Google Local. (Most of the higher value directories in YEXT you can sign up with directly once, and not have to pay the annual fee.) I knew all these little know sites would not generate traffic but I did expect to see an improvement in Google rankings, did not happen.
I also think it is a fallacy that a business is going to constantly be changing their contact info. How often does a business change it's phone number or address? Rarely. But Yext is an annual fee.

Cancelled service, over 10 months to go on the subscription we had. We had 4 actually. Basically told we don't do refunds. Lesson learned. Don't use YEXT.

Pay monthly and not annually as otherwise if after two months you leave you don't lose hundreds of dollars.

We now have two businesses on Yext.
Speed: The listings start going live immediately after you pay, and it takes a few days for your information to populate throughout the networked directories and sites.
SEO: We were able to measure a quick SEO boost from the 20% of the links that have SEO value (not all 50 links have SEO value).
50 Extra Websites Where they Can Do Some Good: But the greatest value is having a very strong appearance in searches where you might otherwise have not been outstanding or not visible at all. Despite fairly strong websites and SEO presence for both of our first two test businesses, we're finding that the Yext network sites might see as many as 200 related searches per month for our little, local, rural test businesses. It's easy to make an argument, that if actively searching customers are in those directories, we want to have an impressive presence. Yext has lived up to all their promises and answered direct questions directly.
Not Extortion: I read a number of other reviews that accuse Yext of extortion for offering a paid service to correct incorrect data on their "Partner Sites." This is incorrect, because Yext does not own the "partner sites." It's not extortion to get paid to fix a third party's mistake. Partner sites only means that Yext has an agreement with that site to allow Yext to insert very informative directory listings and to suppress information that Yext customers declare to be wrong. Yext provides a free service to help you see if important directory listings are missing or incorrect. Then business owners have a choice. Create a profile with each of those websites, manually, one at a time (because they are all separate businesses), or pay for a Yext account to upgrade and correct all of those listings at once.
Tip for consumers:
Don't order it with the expectation of updating listings and then cancelling it. Yext works by inserting their frames over the directory's normal display. Yext serves all the new, correct, and enhanced information off their own servers. The majority of updates and all the enhanced information will be lost when / if you cancel the subscription. Think of Yext as a hosting provider that can get your website in 50+ important places to give you a competitive advantage.
As quoted by a 'Yext Rep', in a previous response in one of the reviews below here on SJ "... as the business owner is always free to go to each local search site and make updates directly."
This is Not True as with every website that is involved with Yext to correct your business listing, you are directed to a Yext signup that costs a bit of much. For those sites there is no way to update your information directly without going through a Yext fee. This is a bit disconcerting as you have to pay to update your business to correct your current information, which to me is a bit of a ransom. As well this misleads the public looking for correct information on businesses.
Update 13MAR2014: Response to Yext Rep > Yes Yext Rep made a number of points that is already in the know with the public with what and who Yext is. What is of concern is this comment (similar to same from other Yext Rep's) in the Yext Rep post, "as the business owner is always free to go to each local search site and make updates directly"... This is Entirely Not True as there are search sites that have no other option BUT to go through Yext.

It looks like you are also experiencing the same frustrations as some of the other reviewers, so I am going to share a similar response to explain how we work and why some of the publisher sites we work with direct you to Yext. Yext is a third party software that allows business owners to claim and update their listings, and manage all of them from one place while also enhancing them. Yext is a paid service, however, electing to use the Yext service is completely up to the business owner, as the business owner is always free to go to each local search site and make updates directly, as you noted that you were told by one of our representatives. This method frequently takes much longer, which is one of the many reasons why we have created our service, but is free in most cases. Some of our publishers have opted to use Yext as their sole source of data updates and new data, because we are a very large and trustworthy source of first hand data from the business owner directly. Although these sites will sometimes direct you to Yext, they also make contact information available on their website where you can submit a question or inquiry. If you would like more information about what we do, or would like a list of public contact information that we have for our publishers to see about having free updates done through the sites directly, please feel free to reach out to Yext Support by e-mail at support@yext.com. It all started because I wanted my business to appear on Alexa. To do that it has to be on Yahoo. To get on Yahoo you have to be on Yelp and use Yext because Yelp may or may not send your listing to Yahoo. Yelp is worthless anyway because nobody uses it. So, Yext will charge you at least $500 for it's lowest level listing to get you on such coveted sites as "hotfrog" and "citysearch" which again, no one uses anyway. You run a search of your business with them and they show you all the sites you are not listed in, or something is wrong with your listing, even though you know it's not true. For instance, I knew I had a strong Google, Facebook and Bing listing, but Yext said I didn't. So, I figured, what the heck, I will fork over the $500 this one time and see if it makes a difference. They show that within 24 hours nearly all of the sites are now updated with my information. About a week later I go to one of the sites and it prompts me to run a search for my business. Guess what? I am not found, so they will scan my listings for me. And wow! My business is missing from all the big sites, like Google, Bing, Facebook, Twitter, and... HOTFROG! And all I have to do is sign up for YEXT to improve my business rankings. So, this is an endless cycle they have you running around in never to return. You need Yext no matter which way you go - only Yext can save you. But guess what? Yext doesn't do squat. Alexa still can't find my business when asked for a local recommendation but she can give my address when asked for by name. Then again, who uses Alexa for directions? People use Apple or Google maps and my business has been on there for years. So, audios Yext.

Run away from Yext. You do not need it.
