Hello. If I go ahead with the Free 1-month trial but cancel it before 1 month, I am not going to be charged for the following month, right?

Hi Sevinc. You can cancel your free trial subscription's renewal at any time. You'll still receive your full 30 days, but will not be billed after that. Usually, you can do so from your Order History in your account settings page. ITunes subscribers must go through iTunes to cancel, however.
