Credit card functionality doesn't work and you have to save your card to pay with one which is absurd and a pain in the $#*!
Working with our design team, we purchased a table that was delivered in March. Upon immediate inspection, the table had severe quality issues that were not highlighted In any photos or correspondence sent by the seller or on the website. This table was not in "good" condition it was in terrible condition Our design team Called immediately within immediately within your time guidelines to return it. We we told by the rep, of course, and the process would be started to do so. Then Covid hit. When 1st dibs reopened, we pursued the return again. We were told the person who assured us a returned was no longer there. We we also told we did not report a return within the proper timeframe. We were also told the table met the criteria for the condition described. All a blatant manipulation of the facts to suit the needs of 1st Dibs not the client.
We are sympathetic to the challenges businesses face in these Covid times. We offered a trade or exchange for something else on their site. All conversation was met with deaf ears with a simple $359.20 refund to make us go away. One would come to expect, especially with an online business that prides itself on being the best, to have a legitimate claim not to be dismissed in such an lowbrow manner. High end consignment shops in NYC won't even take this table because of the condition. We aren't the only set of eyes looking at it.

Tried to buy an Eames chair for 11k. Seller gave a shipping time and quote before I purchased. As the expected delivery date was nearing all of a sudden the "drivers van" broke down with a "broken axle". Said he was in Chicago. Made me wait another 2 weeks and when second delivery date neared the "truck broke down again in Colorado". Upon contacting the seller, the seller claimed the truck just had left LA. I called out the lie and contacted 1st dibs support. Upon which they engaged a "new driver" and all of a sudden they handed over the item in Portland to their driver. Upon pressing them for a date and time of delivery the "driver" called and said it would arrive in the evening. 1h later he called and claimed that he could only arrive at midnight due to road closures along the way! At this point I had severe doubts of the legitimacy of 1st dibs and their sellers. I called them out in the chat for their lies and they bascially admitted that they lied to me from the get go about the shipment. Very sketchy and I assume they never had the item in possession or they are dealing with contraband and forgeries of high value items. I asked for an immediate refund and put a fraud claim in with my bank. I think this is a scam place and unfortunately I did not check here earlier. Certainly nothing to ever recommend or repeat.
I could not explain you IT System that I live in Germany. The shipping costs are 25 £ from UK but morethan two h(neared to Nicaragua where I do not live. So I chose the self option.

Haved loved this for years. Finally decided to let my husband buy it for me at a price more reasonable. If you are willing.

Answer: It's a real company. But as I have learned by experience their policies and buyer protection are a scam. They mark up prices and sell high. You over spend and no way to get a refund. I'm highly disappointed in their ethics. Don't buy, look elsewhere.
