AT&T has a rating of 1.2 stars from 2,434 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about AT&T most frequently mention customer service, new phone, and next day problems. AT&T ranks 245th among Internet Service Provider sites.
Very disappointing when finding that all rewards offered when activating Internet 300 service online are automatically switched to a bundled product that after 7 weeks has not yet arrived. They sent an email 2-3 days after service activation showing that you qualify for an "extra" reward but what they don't disclose is that if accept this "extra" reward, it automatically disqualifies you from the other rewards, close to $250. Just cheating to get you in because most probably you won't even receive the bundle. After 7 weeks waiting period, they just said that an extra 4 weeks are needed. Would it arrive? I think this is just an AT&T SCAM!
I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T recently. Terrible experience from the beginning! Customer service is non-existent! Wait time to speak to a rep was greater than an hour multiple times! Additionally, my bill contained duplicate charges.
I made the mistake of going to an authorized dealer. I have the up next program where you can turn your phone in for a different one after you pay 50% of it off. I had one remaining payment of $23.42. When I got to the store and picked out the new phone, I asked if I only needed to pay the last installment and she said yes. Later that night as I was looking through emails, I realized that she charged me for the pay off amount of the phone. Since then, customer service number has told me something different every time I talk to them. Some of them are extremely hard to understand. Asked for a manager and they said that she will call me. She never called. I never had these problems at Verizon. I only left because the pushy people that were set up at Target said they could reduce my phone bill in half.

For two weeks I have been attempting to get an internet issue resolved. This has gone on and I'm told by PT&T (Pilipino Telephone and Telegraph) that I have "good service". Well, it ain't a working. Then some twit calls me the following day to sell me an upgrade that is not offered in my area. Then tells me I just have to deal with the problems. Just listen, it only started a few weeks ago and is occurs randomly. "I don't know what to tell you." I absolutely hate having to deal with them or get through their maze to get to someone lightyears away and does NOT understand the problem. HATE THEM. If ever a company should be in bankruptcy, it is AT&T.

AT&T has this promotion for anyone to turn in any phone in any condition to get a new S22. What they don't state or advertise clearly is that it is only for new customers. Very disappointing. Had they stated it clearly I would have e saved myself the disappointment and embarrassment. Apparently we don't count. Very frustrating to deal with and a too good to be true at. I am going to have another company buy out my contract and deal with a more upfront and honest company

Just called to verify cancellation on my partners account due to death and the representative advised me to go to an att store to handle and then started on with a sales pitch and promotions and deals occurring for me to purchase. Incredible insensitive and ignorant. No help received. Only ignorance.

Customer service representatives are the worst. ATT&T really needs to train their people better. Very unprofessional "manager" I was speaking to yesterday. Was passed around to 4 people and they were unable to assist me. They just waisted my time on the phone promising to assist and they did not. I have been with this company for 50 years. Very unsatisfied.Beware! They provide you with false information to scam you!

Terrible customer service. The overseas rep who sold me my new phone assured me that I would keep the same features with the upgraded new phone. Now I am told that to add back the hotspot, which was on my previous plans for many years, now will cost an additional $10. So I am starting to shop for new companies and open to new cell phone company suggestions.

Purchased what I thought was new iPhone 14 and received refurbished iPhone 14 that will not charge past 65% and doesn't charge for long. I called only to be told if I pay additional $250 I could have insurance and do my own claim. I will absolutely switch carrier services.

Basically, we are at a stalemate with AT&T. AT&T refuses to do anything, and the manager at the "Authorized Retailer" won't get involved until the sales associate admits what they have done or tries to explain/resolve the issue. Of course, the sales associate is avoiding us. Word of advice, please be sure to research ANY of these mobile companies' physical stores. They may appear to be official but, in fact, are just "Authorized Dealers". These "Authorized Dealers" lure unsuspecting customers with a sale/promotion that appears to be legit; however, when the customer receives the bill and the discount/sale/promotion doesn't reflect, calling customer care won't remedy the issue, at least that's our experience with AT&T.

Sidenote: all of which I've posted has happened this week in a matter of 2 days.
Today, visited the ATT store. The owner of the store was very sincere about resolving this issue. However, we still needed to speak with associate (who was out due to illness), otherwise, there's nothing they nor ATT can do. Said associate is supposed to call today. The owner informed us that they consistently tell their agents about being careful as to the information they give out to customers. To give the owner the benefit of the doubt, we can understand their plight. However, that doesn't negate how many ATT customers are being misled into believing that they're getting a good deal, only to see an exorbitant bill and for ATT and their stores to avoid all responsibility.
Looks like I'll need to post a part 3 because our issue hasn't been resolved.

Just a word of caution to anyone who has an AT&T easement in their yard. I had multiple AT&T contractors who damaged my sprinkler systems and now AT&T have not settled a claim made in June. It was referred to their front bully boy Sedgewick who has ceased to respond to any of my communications. The claim amount is $ 173.52, if AT&T are not even willing communicate, it may be symptomatic of something rotten beneath the grandeur of glamourous advertising.
Please beware of AT&T.

I used Tobe a customer of At&t before but I switched to Tmobile since I had issue with my billing with AT&T. After 5 years I got an offer from AT&T that I liked and decided to switch to AT&T. I bought this service from Costco so I was feeling peace and thinking it was all set. And the bad part was Autopay. After 6 months I realized that AT&T was charging me $100 extra every month. When I called them they explain all charges that was not mentioned when I purchase the service. And the way they resolve my issue is dropping me from my current plan to lower plan. I recommend every one to be careful before purchasing the AT&T service.

Never send me a phone I ordered. I tried calling customer service they have the worst service! Every one says something different. Requested to talk to a supervisor he was worst than the reps. Do not change over to this carrier. You will regret every second of it!

Charged me for a month in Advance and wasn't explained, they said $0 start up cost! Charged me for one day! $85 dollars for internet, lied to me about when I was going to receive my cell phone, said one week and ended up being 3 weeks later! I will never use this company again! Setting the wrong expectations is just like lying to a customer just for business!

Sketchy business practices, horrible customer service they hire from India for a cheap price. Did you know if you are in a family plan you pay less for having more lines, however what they don't tell you is that when you add a new line in the middle of a billing cycle they will charge you those extra days the line is open at full price. That means if you pay $30 for their lowest unlimited plan while in a family plan, you will instead be paying the full $75 unless you know to add a line the very same day your billing cycle starts.

We had two phones that needed replacing when they upgraded their system last year. They sent horrible phones compared to the phones we had (not even close to comparable features) AND the new phones they sent do not work (connection issues, delays, they crash all the time). We have called numerous times but they will do nothing about it except sell us new phones (at their profit of course). This is enough to switch providers. They are awful compared to what we are paying (we have a family of 5 on one account and the other 2 of us on another account). Good riddance AT&T!

Unnecessary charges and poor customer service
I went overseas, text stating international data, called AT&T who assured no charges are being processed. Got changed $356. Filed a dispute, denied dispute because worker failed to document why the dispute was submitted. Asked for supervisor who states his supervisor is the one who can process refunds who is in a meeting and will call back. But supervisor agreed and acknowledged AT&T error. NO call back so I called back in. Informed I need to contact international department. International filed another dispute and offered 1/2 $178 refund. I refused 1/2 and ask for a supervisor. Supervisor wouldn't hear me out before yelling and hanging up on me. After many years of business I am DONE WITH AT&T

I switched to AT&T prepaid from virgin mobile prepaid because I bought an iPhone online that was not unlocked. I thought the service would be comparable but I went from paying the same amount and getting 10 GB of data - to AT&T's garbage, insulting deal of 1 GB of data. When I called customer service to unlock my phone so I could go back to virgin mobile, They insulted my intelligence by saying I was stuck with them for six months. When I asked to get transferred to a supervisor they said there was no supervisor available. When I insisted on speaking with the supervisor she put me on hold and pretended to be someone else but it was the exact same voice. She then told me to go online to do an unlock request, which resulted in the same answer. This is the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of doing business with. I can't wait until I never have to deal with at&t ever again!

You know how they say one u happy customer tells on average 10 people about bad service? I've told 229 this year, and I will bad mouth it for my entire life. You guys are the biggest piece of $#*! organization I've ever dealt with. As long as I live, I will bad mouth this dog $#*! company. Putrid customer services, braindamaged "technicians", lies on lies. Despicable embarrassing dog $#*! losers

A company where the customer pays the consequences for the customer representatives mistakes. My wife and I set up our phones to have iPhone forever when we went to upgrade our phones we were told only one of our phones was set up for that upgrade plan and not the other which makes absolutely no sense why on earth would I only set that plan up being only 5 dollars more a month for just one of the phone on the contract…? When asked if they can make right on their mistake we were told there is nothing we can do that we have to pay off the phone and then I'm able to upgrade. All about what they can gain off their customers all scams.
Tip for consumers:
Make sure you read over your contract before signing it and agreeing to their service and also get a copy of your contract after initial service so that if any changes are made to your account with out your knowledge you have a copy to back you up. Very shady company.

They suspended my lines I paid my bill, they claim they never received my payment when I have my statement and confirmation email showing my payment was made. This is the second month in a row that I had issues with att. I will never refer anyone to att. They will take your money and say they never received it!

We bought a cable to charge the cell phone. After a few months the connector that goes in the phone fell out. We took it to AT&T on Foothill in Hayward thinking we could exchange for another one and found out there is only a 2 week period given for returns on accessories. This is outrageous to the customers who spend a lot of money on AT&T phones.
Just wanted to alert the public to be aware of the lack of customer service if a lemon is sold.
Tip for consumers:
See above….no customer service on returns after 2 weeks.

Nothing. AT&T is extremely cheap with their return policy! Everyone has a phone so they could be more open to keep customers happy.
If I would have know of their cheapness I would have gone to Target!

A rep from att had me switch over to att my bill never stayed the same. They told me it was cheaper than my service first week I was informed I had no hotspot multiple things that I had originally with my other service. Customer service was very bad from what I was used to. I was told they would buy out my old bill that was a task. So i decided to go back to my original service so they charged me more than original service cost me to leave. It was suprise with them every two months at least none in my favor. Im gone now and will never return to phone service again learn how to treat the people that keeps the business around a lot better

I canceled my internet service with them 2 years ago. The statement said that I had $50 credit. It took a whole year and dozens of lengthily phone calls to finally get my money back. I still had Direct TV with them, the price went constantly up so I decided to cancel last month. I was told by the representative that everything was paid up, that I didn't owe them any money. Guess what? They took another payment from me this month. I called and was told that I still had to pay $167.20. Nonchalantly was informed that I just was given the wrong info the day I canceled. No apology, nothing. Been with Direct TV for almost 20 years. I think this company is crooked and I do not recommend doing business with them.

I went to one their stores looking to get a prepaid SIM card with hotspot unlimited. They gave me a sim card that did not work and refused to refund or give a new sim card and asked me to go to another store.
Went to another store the next day, and got the sim card fixed only to find out that their plan did not include hotspot AND they charged $10 for 5gb of hotspot as an add-on.
I managed to get the hotspot refunded but the store manager refused to make a refund even though the aim card is completely useless to me and I specifically asked for something with hotspot.
Never buying anything from this company ever again. I wish I could give 0/5.
