AT&T has a rating of 1.2 stars from 2,434 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about AT&T most frequently mention customer service, new phone, and next day problems. AT&T ranks 245th among Internet Service Provider sites.
Very disappointing when finding that all rewards offered when activating Internet 300 service online are automatically switched to a bundled product that after 7 weeks has not yet arrived. They sent an email 2-3 days after service activation showing that you qualify for an "extra" reward but what they don't disclose is that if accept this "extra" reward, it automatically disqualifies you from the other rewards, close to $250. Just cheating to get you in because most probably you won't even receive the bundle. After 7 weeks waiting period, they just said that an extra 4 weeks are needed. Would it arrive? I think this is just an AT&T SCAM!
I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T recently. Terrible experience from the beginning! Customer service is non-existent! Wait time to speak to a rep was greater than an hour multiple times! Additionally, my bill contained duplicate charges.
Avoid this fleecing company at all costs. Cut off about 100 families of internet coverage with no warning! Continued to bill without conscience. There will be a special place in hell for the president and executives of this worthless company. There really should be criminal proceedings and swift imprisonment! My question to the above mentioned- how in the world do you sleep at night? You destroy people's lives...
Update: One day the AT&T CEO arrives in hell. The devil is there to greet him. The devil smiles and say's, you probably the crookedest SOB I've ever had the pleasure of watching. You are low as they come! I'm proud as hell of the way you have treated the masses. A tip of the horn to you, you dirty rotten snake! I've been waiting for you, the devil continues, as a reward for being so greedy and thoughtless, you are going to get to watch beautiful women pornography for eternity! That's right, for eternity! The CEO smiled his smirky a** smile as the devil handed him a lap top and dashed out of the room to attend to some AT&T executives arriving on the down elevator. Shortly thereafter was a loud shriek! The AT&T CEO is screaming at the top of his lungs, there is nothing but a spinning circle on this piece of sh*t! What's the da*n deal?! The devil pokes his head back in and says, why I signed you up for AT&T internet, I knew you'd be pleased. The devil said, in addition, all complaints must go through the foreign call center. Current hold time is half an eternity. Finally with a smile, the devil says welcome to hell As*h*le!

When you call AT&T you're sent overseas in the customer service does not know what's happening in the states. They scheduled a maintenance on my internet from 8:00 to 12:00, no one showed up and no explanation. Call ATT customer service and they had no idea what I was talking about and didn't care they're response was they'll get to it when they get to it. By sure luck looking around for a United States customer service for AT&T, I found out that our street and several streets around us had outages, so scheduling a service call was the wrong thing to do and no one informed anyone that it was an outage that affected everyone. We we need to get back the way it used to be your call customer service they're in the states and they know what the problem is, outsourcing it to overseas is the wrong way to do it because they don't have the right information to help the customers. We need to get back to customer service and not the almighty dollar that AT&T saves by doing this. AT&T should have one customer number not a half a dozen because you don't even know what number you're calling and it's very confusing.

Normally I trust people but when you go to the on at ******* Westheimer Rd they will tell you anything just to get you to buy My salesperson told me my bill would not be more than $175 but yet I recived a bill for $412. So than I call customer service all they said that I need to go to the store to cancel. So I go get there at 6pm I talk to sale lady Maryam and she says she dont know what happen so she talks to Manager who say will I help after this lady he was helping now after that instead of helping me waiting an hour helps next person who walks in. And ignore us because we have a problem not a purchase. 7pm comes around and he tells Maryam to leave. Why would he tell her to leave if she is the one who knows what's going on. So I got upset told the manager here are the phones I purchase and to cancel my contract. Buy law I was within my timeframe to cancel the worst customer service every received. At that store. When you purchase everyone is quick to help; you but once there is an issue everyone act like they don't know anything.

I had a terrible experience with AT&T today. I called to inquire about international plans and was sold a $10 a day plan that was to cover calls, text & data. I told them where I was traveling, Israel & Jordan. I got home to a bill that should have been $130 over my normal but it was $353 over! Naturally I called to ask them to adjust it but they only offered a $50 credit. They deceived me to the tune of $220 and refused to fix it! I've been a loyal customer for over 20 years with 5 lines, I have purchased countless phones & ipads chargers, cases etc. over the years always paying on time and get treated like this. Goodbye AT&T! Apparently they couldn't care less. I payed off all of my phones and the inflated bill (0ver $1,500) and am switching carriers. Worst thing about it is that they don't care. I gave them every opportunity to save the account but there was no effort to do so. According to Google, they have 153 million customers so why should my business matter to them? Clearly it does not. Congratulations AT&T you cheated me out of $220 but lost a customer for life!
I expect your competitors will appreciate my business~

ATT buys up good companies that have great customer service, where it is easy to reach a human, that are easy to work with, that offer reliable and dependable and quality service, and have a website that is a DREAM to do what you need to do - and then ATT buys it and absolutely ruins every single thing that made that company succeed, and they do it every time so its intentional.
They likely think they will make us think its the company they are deliberately ruining's fault so that we will think better of ATT as a service.
Well here's a newsflash ATT - you aren't ruining my opinion of your competition - you are reaffirming ALL the reasons why I literally DESPISE your company for all times.
LET US HAVE CHOICES. I will NEVER EVER EVER CHOOSE YOU. And every time you go out of your way to buy up and dismantle and ruin a company that I prefer over you - you just cement my hatred of anything ATT.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid anything and everything ATT touches and owns. I know I sure will.

I cancelled my service with att to move to T-Mobile or so I thought. Turns out, the cancel did not happen because I still had 2 devices (watch and tablet) still showing on the account. I thought the bill that auto-paid at the end of the month on 8/20 (switched companies on 8/10) was the final bill. Nope. Okay the next bill that was auto-paid at the end of the next month (9/20) was surely the last bill. I figured maybe the first one just wasn't caught in time. The second bill was $50 cheaper, so it must be the last bill, right?!. When the third bill came, I freaked out, called them and was told that yes, when phone numbers are ported to a different company, the account will then cancel and it is not uncommon for customers to forget about devices that were assigned a number but no longer use to remain (showing no use) but that they could get it taken care of for me. Great. Well I couldn't remember my PIN at the time, was told I would have to go to a store to change it then call back. I remembered the PIN, called back, got a different person, one that was much more inclined to be less than helpful. She then cancelled account and told me that there was nothing they could do about the billing oversight. I pushed, she put me on hold a few minutes (I'm sure to check her nails instead of the lie of checking with the back office) to come back and say, yep, nothing we could do. I had an account with att for 15+ years and that is how loyalty is treated with att. I look forward to them no longer being a monopoly which will happen sooner or later. Probably when they have shafted the right number of people.

Went to 2 corporate offices, no one would help. Called 6x and once on hold, when a representative would pick up, they would say "they couldn't hear me" (after listening to my complaint) and hang up! AT&T has been sending our account to two separate collection agencies. When we called AT&t to tell them that we have the proof they received the phone on time and who they received it from, they said "they were unable to help us'. AT&T is collecting for a phone they received and we have proof they did, STILL they choose to collect $2165. 00! No one in any branch can help (we tried). No one on the phone wants to work and I will pursue to FILE A CLAIM LEGALLY FOR FDCPA Violations if no one clears this up! REGRET ever even trying to be a customer.

To start, I am a Senior. And, I have two cellphones on a 3GB Plan with ATT.
5/8/2023 began a new Cellular Billing Cycle for me, so I normally check to verify the usage that ends a cycle, and begins a new cycle. Lo and behold, on ATT's app, they had one of my two phones registered with.27GB of data at 6:26am on 5/9/2023. I have very good internet through a different provider, and am always on wifi at home, or a business internet source while I attend to my errands. So, this could never be the case, especially when I am just rising out of bed.
I have contacted them twice to no avail. Matter of fact, the records at their website initially did not reflect the spurious.27GB. It only did so when I began to inquire and complain.
They are always trying to up-sell on internet, Unlimited Plans, Direct TV. This seems to be a ruse to muscle me onto their Unlimited Plan, which I do not need. I have seen where my late mother was billed for movies she had not rented, so I know if the core is crooked, the fruit is also crooked. I am blessed that I still am able to handle my affairs, so as to deter all the fraudsters that permeate life at this stage. It (likely) will not inflate my incoming bill as I am onto them. But, that does not change the fact that these practices of ATT are grossly dishonest.
It is to be noted that they will never admit their crimes against the Consumer. The recourse is to leave them and increase their Churn Rate!

Beltline Rd Dallas TX: I am a 30 year plus customer of AT&T (going back to SWBell Telephone). Horrible dealing with this location from salesman, to day manager, to branch manager and AT&T customer service. Bought new phone on trade in on week 1 only to be told on week 2 that the original deal was not going to be honored because salesperson misrepresented the ability to take my old phone in trade. DO NOT BUY AT THIS LOCATION IF YOU HAVE TO BUY FROM AT&T AT ALL! No honor or customer loyalty!

Been a Loyal AT&T mobile customer for 7+ years & now I've encountered a so called non-return device problem. Sent the damaged phone back to shipping label given & followed shipping instructions. It's now going on 3 months since device was returned at local post office(stated in instructions) & now they're charging me the fee as if I've never returned the device. I've spoken to several agents including their so called LOYALTY dept & still NOTHING! Called again tonight & now they're saying the case that the last manager filed has been closed & not approved due to them not receiving it. I've given all agents tracking #s including date & time device was dropped off. (Thank god I took a picture of both label & receipt) When manager-agent tracked device & searched for any usage, it indicated that there was no usage on the device since that day. They've been telling me that the charge will be removed within a certain time which kept expiring & still no removal of non return fee. I'm here to advise everyone that no matter how long you've been a loyal customer to them, they are not concerned about their customers WHATSOEVER! If I would've known it was going to encounter a problem like this I would've kept the device & canceled services before I upgraded with these people. Once again, I've never had an issue with them until now & I'm very disappointed! I will be canceling in a few days if there has not been any adjustments made. I'll take my services elsewhere where loyalty comes first.

You'd think a company this big would have the means and wherewithal to streamline their customer service, but it is literally like trying to coordinate with toddlers. I have never had to deal with such a slow, dense, and painful customer service process. All i was trying to do was transfer my cell phone line to another AT&T plan, and it took weeks of running in circles, sitting in the physical store (for 3 hours) and still no resolution, all because their off-shore systems wouldn't update to reflect original account notations that confirm validity of line transfer. I was told in-store that they couldn't do anything and to try calling back in a day or so. I called back every day for a week, only to be connected each time to the wrong department, where i would tell them my whole story, ask if i was in the right place to be helped (to which they always said they could help) only to be on the line with them for another 15 minutes and be told they would have to transfer me to the "line transfer department". The line transfer department would then tell me i would have to go in the store, i would go in the store and wait, only to be told i need to call. You see my problem? How could you have such HORRIBLE customer service. Still no resolution after 2 weeks, and the plan i was transferring to is paying a higher per line amount that they won't credit back to us.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH ATT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD WITH WITH BUSINESS IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. THE CALL THEMSELVES A PHONE COMPANY BUT THE PHONE SERVICE IS SPORATIC AT BEST. WE HAVE BEEN WITH AT&T FOR YEARS AND RECENTLY PURCHASED NEW PHONES, SIGNED A CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN AMOUNT AND WE WERE TOLD THAT OUR BILL WOULD NOT CHANGE. AFTER A LONG PROCESS GETTING CREDIT FROM OUR OLD PHONES WE FINALLY GOT OUR BILL LEVELED OUT WITH THE CORRECT CONTRACT AMOUNT. AFTER 1 MONTH THE BILL WAS RAISED $50.00 MORE WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. CALLING THIS CUSTOMER SERVICE
WAS NO HELP AT ALL. THEY HAVE PEOPLE WHO DON'T SPEAK VERY GOOD ENGLISH SO EVENTUALLY WE GIVE UP TALKING WITH THEM BECAUSE THEY JUST REPEAT THEMSELVES OVER & OVER. FURTHERMORE, WHEN WE PURCHASED OUR PHONES WE GOT A PRINTOUT SUMMARY OF WHAT WE WERE PURCHASING BUT WHEN IT CAME TO THE BILLING WE HAD 2 MONTHS WHERE THE MONTHLY CHARGE WAS EXTREMELY HIGH- MUCH HIGHER THAN THE ASSOCIATES AT THE STORE INDICATED IT WOULD BE. THEN WE GOT ALL THESE ADDITIONAL FEES THAT WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE FOR. BOTTOM LINE, THE WAY ATT DEFINES THE BILLING SHOULD BE CALLED FRAUDULENT BECAUSE THE CUSTOMER CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE DETAILS OF THE CONVOLUTED BILLING. WE FEEL LIKE WE ARE BEING SWINDELED BY AT&T AND SOMEBODY SHOULD BRING A LAWSUIT TO AT&T FOR THEIR BILLING PRACTICES.
THIS IS A VERY BAD PROBLEM WITH AT&T AND WE ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT ANOTHER PHONE SERVICE.

We have been with AT&T for years and they have been pretty good in the past but when it comes to upgrading IPHONES the charges are not straight forward. Don't trade your phone in because AT&T local sales and AT&T customer service is very unclear. They have charged us for service we have had for many years including activation fees which make no sense at all. Also, if you trade your old phone in and the new phone does not arrive until a month or so AT&T still charges you at a higher rate even if you're not using the new phone.

I purchased a mobile hotspot device, from Walmart but through AT&T's service. It cost me 100$ for the devise and 55$ for the 100gb on a prepaid card. You know the ones. I thought this was an amazing deal. I had been so clever to create a solution to my pesky no internet or Wi-Fi problem. The hotspot worked like a dream. For 6 days. I had not anticipated running through 100 gb of data in less than a week. Between two ppl. But according to the message I received on the device, prompting me to log in to AT&T prepaid.com and add more data. I've tried that route. Because my phone number is not associated with AT&T it runs me into a wall. I returned to where I purchased the device and card originally and they had no cards and couldn't answer me If I added 55$ to my prepaid account would it count for the 100gb I have called several AT&T stores. I've visited another two Walmarts. I've looked online for cards off eBay and Amazon. I can't find anything that will work. Oh and I spent an hour and a half today on the phone with the AT&T customer service number for prepaid accounts only to have my call dropped, disconnected and my personal favorite, TRANSFERRED TO DIRECT TV ( his specialists) after he gave me attitude for "calling him when he doesn't even work prepaid". I gave up after having to call back a fourth time, only to be given a completely different number to call by one of the ppl who answered after a very long hold. This device is awesome, while it lasts. I can't really see what other options I have except to get a Straight Talk device and buy their monthly top-up cards. They're always in stock.

This service doesn't even deserve one star. We have been with AT&T for 30 years, and we decided back in 2017 that we were going to try out U-Verse. It went well for the first three months, until our system went out. We had 5 different technicians come to our home, until finally one told us that the problem wasn't with us it was with the surrounding area. U-Verse wouldn't be in our area for a while, and so we decided to cancel our service so that we could have TV and Internet. Moving forward to present day, I checked my credit score and it went down 30 POINTS because a bill from October of 2017 that I just found out today July 2020 was charged for my first month payment. I have been on the phone for a total of 10 hours with collection and probably every department at AT&T and no one can take this random, bogus charge off of my account. I thought that I had solved this problem a year ago after being on the phone for a total of 34 hours trying to fix this issue, but as of yesterday it seems like no one did anything. Even after being in service with them for 30 years, no one would give us the decency to help and fix this issue. This is unacceptable, and if you are thinking of moving to AT&T service, don't. We plan on canceling everything through them and moving somewhere else, even after being apart of their company for, once again, 30 YEARS. Terrible. I have never missed a bill in all of that time, and they are destroying my credit without blinking an eye. It's sad that this happens to people who try to do the right thing.
