AT&T has a rating of 1.2 stars from 2,434 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about AT&T most frequently mention customer service, new phone, and next day problems. AT&T ranks 245th among Internet Service Provider sites.
Very disappointing when finding that all rewards offered when activating Internet 300 service online are automatically switched to a bundled product that after 7 weeks has not yet arrived. They sent an email 2-3 days after service activation showing that you qualify for an "extra" reward but what they don't disclose is that if accept this "extra" reward, it automatically disqualifies you from the other rewards, close to $250. Just cheating to get you in because most probably you won't even receive the bundle. After 7 weeks waiting period, they just said that an extra 4 weeks are needed. Would it arrive? I think this is just an AT&T SCAM!
I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T recently. Terrible experience from the beginning! Customer service is non-existent! Wait time to speak to a rep was greater than an hour multiple times! Additionally, my bill contained duplicate charges.
They added an extra line a promotion when they set up my account. It cost 95 a month and then some. This company is garbage. Just dont.

Every time AT&T has changed or upgraded our service, we end up with a problem. Last week they upgraded us to Fiber. I was puzzled why our old U-verse modem and password still showed up on our devices. Today our internet went out. We have to wait 3 days for them to come fix THEIR error. We are so glad that our landline phone and TV aren't connected to the internet or we wouldn't have them either. If AT&T can't upgrade without errors, maybe their people need more training. Their automated answering is also annoying, but so are their customers service people. They speak too quickly with a heavy accent. Their yes, sir is annoying. You only say yes IF asked a question, not to have a conversation. They do NOT listen. I had to explain the issue AND give our phone 3 times to the person.

Well to start of a tech guy came to fix the wifi so a new box would put on, so he turned off the one we had so the other can be put in. So he willingly left knowing that new box that he was supposed to connect wasn't fully functioning and told the people from ATT that contracted him, that he left it fully functioning. So we set an appointment for may 10 between 4-8 so another technical person come a fixed it and nobody showed up and they put that we cancel the appointment. When we called we spoke to the technical manager Jose Garcia Burjos, he wasn't helpful at all, he didn't want to give the technician name that came nor the number of the ticket of the guy that came. Or send anybody to come still to fix it. We have to now wait until Friday for another technician to come and fix it and see if they do a good job. Another problem we have to use our data cause there's no wifi to do certain stuff. I hope they consider the fact that I have been a customer for years and the way they treated me was not fair to a person that pays the bills monthly I hope ATT can do something different about it

Horrible customer service and even worse cell phone service. Data is almost NEVER working and if I am inside a building, my phone goes straight to voicemail. It is IMPOSSIBLE to effectively conduct business with AT&T "service" in the greater Austin, Tx area.
I did not think it was possible to have worse service than T-Mobile. I was WRONG.
I stopped in to the AT&T store in Lakeway, Tx about such a poor signal and the store atten dant told me it was due to the war in Ukraine. Poor signal quality in Texas because of a war between Russia and Ukraine. It doesn't get much stupider than that.
AT&T should be ashamed of themselves.

We got snaked into a 2 year contract. They wouldn't let us out of it. So we set our calendar for exactly 2 years later. In the meantime we purchased a home. When we moved they came out to set up service and brought us new dvrs NEVER DID THEY TELL US THEY WERE INADVERTENTLY SIGNING US UP FOR ANOTHER 2 YEAR CONTRACT. We called to get out of it, and we had to pay $240 to get out of the stupid contract we never agreed to. I despise this company DO NOT USE THEM.

I haven't been a customer for over two years Now. I wanted to unlock my phone I was denied for an alleged balance.(confirmed with customer service prior that everything was good no balances and 2 years without receiving a bill) Was on the phone with customer service today trying to find out why there was a Ballance they told me that I needed a passcode to asceses my account. Not knowing what the code was regardless of me using the same codes for all my other phones since forever I now have to travel 15 miles out of my way to my nearest store for verification.
Also, I was able to log into my account and view everything and when I told Att Customer service that I lost all access. And I wasn't allowed to update my passcode because there wasn't a number associated with the account to send a pin too.
The other reviews clear it up nicely as to the reason why I left. Don't be fooled by the alleged 4 star that google or At&t claims those can easily be manipulated. I don't have a proof of purchase because it was over 2 years ago!
Tip for consumers:
Don't go off of Google, or Att own reviews! They are manipulated!!

I have been with AT&T for years and everything is fine until you need anything. This time I was just trying to trade in a phone for a new one. I was very clear that I did not want any extra features or add ons. I even referenced my last experience with the AT&T in New city where I was just getting my partner a new phone and was very clear that I wanted the price to stay the same, yet they put me on the most expensive plan.
When I asked why my bill was so high, they said it would go down on the next bill. It wasn't until the 3rd bill that they finally told me that I was on the most expensive plan and that it was my fault for not reading the contract. I had spent an hour with this rep and my only request was that my bill stay the same and they just disregard me, lie about what they are doing for 3 billing cycles, then I can't get a refund because I still 'used the 3 billing cycles of service' and of course all of this is 'policy' so they can't do anything about it.
Back to my most recent experience, this guy seemed very nice and I thought he explained everything clearly, so either he was not trained properly and did not know about these additional fees, or I was lied to again. I understood that my phone needed to be mailed off to do a trade in and that once they had it, it would pay for my phone. Instead, they sign me up for Protect advantage, which I did not ask for, and my phone did not cover the cost of my new phone, like I was told it would, and I am only getting an additional $10 off my bill every month until the credit is gone, which is not the full phones amount.
I am done hearing about policy and technicalities. I will not be purchasing phones from AT&T anymore. If it wasn't for the fact that this issue only happens when I need a new phone I would leave AT&T all together. I hope this is just a case of poorly trained employees, because the alternative is that they make setting up your phone a long and exhausting process just so they can slip as much in as they can and then blame the customer and hie behind 'policy'

ATT is advertising free phones. NOT WITHOUT READING FINE PRINT. I WAS OFFERED AN S22 free and 800 dollars for my s20. Nothing said when I asked Will this cover my payoff on my s20? Answer yes it will. I went through process paid 76.00 taxes and 100 up front on service. Agent said you will get phone faster picking it up at a store. I went to store where they informed me I was responsible for paying off s20 the 800 was covering my s22. Woa I said s22 is free s20 was to be paid for by att no she said. After another hour canceling everything I will not deal again w I th att. Beware also of I14 pro being free I said in store ok I want my free I 14. Lol it ain't free folks it's FALSE ADVERTISING
Tip for consumers:

I've had to buy a new phone 6 times in two years and in this two years I have had my phone stop working, stop charging, get stolen, get lost, get broken (not from miss treatment) and dial 911 in my pocket. And In this time frame to get any help from "customer support" they want a 4-digit pin number that I don't have (I've had this number for over 10+ yrs I think I'd be the first to know that my PREPAID PHONE did not come with one therefore I had no 4-digit number) today some "supervisor" named Mary insisted telling the only way i can get access to my account number was to go to my nearest store then call customer support again with a associates help. I walked in told them what I wanted took them 5 seconds to help me and get out. I have waisted hours of my time trying to get help 3 months ago just to be told then prepaid's don't have 4digit pins! I literally had to school "Mary the supervisor" how customer service actually works the service is slow and glitches all the time, customer support are unprofessional and poorly trained, the phones break and stop working in 6 months or less where then you have to fight with it till you can replace it. This company worked better and had better customer service 9-10+ years ago and every year it gets worse I do not recommend this company nor the product I'm changing carriers asap

The way they conduct the customer service line should be illegal. Everytime i call, the call is directed to a crowded call center in some foreign country and they can't speak English well and don't have the same authority, knowledge, or resources to fix issues. I called to get my Internet speed boosted to 100mbps (currently have 50mbps which is slow enough and already overpaying as it is) and the foreign representative somehow changed my plan to a 3 MBPS DOWNLOAD PLAN. I did not ask for that and they now say they can't change it back to my Internet 50 plan and completely ruined my service in which my only option will likely be to cancel and switch carriers now.

In February 2022 during an online chat with a representative of AT&T I was approached with an offer for an iphone 12 with the total price being $180 paid at $5 a month. During this conversation I specifically asked if I decided to leave AT&T I would only have to pay the 180$ minus the $5 monthly payments I had already made. I was told yes that is correct. I went a step further and said if the Iphone 12 is only $180 total and I only have to pay the remainder of that total if I leave AT&T before the phone is paid in full, I will take one. Again, I was told yes that is correct. I went online today to pay off the device and it shows I owe $547.47. After speaking to numerous employees, I was told by a manager named Aaron that they do not have to honor what was told to me on the chat because the employee made a mistake. I however before agreeing to the upgrade proceeded with due diligence and relied on what I was told by the AT&T employee, and I agreed to the upgrade based completely on what I was told by the employee. I am more than happy to pay the amount for the device that I was quoted, however I should not have to pay for a mistake or even worse deceptive sales practices by an AT&T employee. I have a copy of the chat transcript from AT&T showing exactly what I was told to get me to purchase the device.
Tip for consumers:
Do not trust AT&T, even when their employee offers you a deal in writing, they later say they do not have to honor it.

I recently canceled my account with AT&T. I canceled it the day after the billing cycle started. I knew if I called them they would tell me I have to pay for the extra day so I paid it that same day. Now they tell me they are keeping the whole month's worth of my payment because the billing cycle had already started. So they kept 82.50 for one day of service and then they tell me I should have read the contract. I was with them for five years and technically there was no contract. I never renewed and they kept it month to month. But they refused to give this single income, single mother her money back.
The initial reason I cancelled is that every other time I tried to log in to pay a bill i would be asked to verify the account with the code they sent to my phone. Only it was not my phone, my son had the phone and I could never get it in time because he is away at college. I told them that over and over with emails and chats, but nothing was ever done. Now they get a bonus by keeping my money.
I get nothing can be done because they are a huge company, but anyone reading this can avoid what happened to me, by canceling service in time where they aren't stealing your money, just because they can get away with it.

Never before have I dealt with a phone service that has had such terrible CSR's. A few things have led me to this conclusion. First, I have ordered the same product from at&t twice and was told it would be here in a certain amount of time. The first time after waiting about a week and a half for it to ship, they rescheduled it to ship another week later. I called to verify it would be here as that shipping date passed with no email or confirmation that it had been shipped. I was told it was being processed which would take 48 hours and I would have it 48hours after that. They then canceled my order that night. Again, I tried to purchase the item and was told it would be there the next day, then a week and a half later, then another week. I called to ask about it and they wanted me to call another department. No thank you, I'll cancel and get it cheaper through Samsung directly. Also, I have changed my phone number during this time and asked at&t how I could make this private. The woman on the phone was so unefficient with her speaking because she was telling me how to do things by using her phone as the example. When explained what my options were to pick from in settings, I was told I was wrong. I cannot make this up, I'm reading to you what options I have and you are telling me something completely opposite. I then asked to speak with technical support. Another woman came on took my information and then proceeded to not come back to the phone for an hour and a half until I decided she wasn't probably ever coming back and hung up. Looking into new services now.

I hate this service with a PASSION! I had T-Mobile and switched to AT&T 3 months ago. Service sucks! I can show 5g+ and 3 bars and still not work. It is constantly in 5ge and will just spin and spin and spin. If youre in Las Vegas and our looking for a new service provider- STAY AWAY FROM AT&T

I unlocked my phone 1/12/22 and it 1/16/22 and they are refusing to unlock my phone. Att services is horrible they didn't send my email to confirm I paid it off. Had to go to. Store show where I paid it off and had to get the receipt they refuse to send that as well to my email. They told me 24 hr and from 12 th-16th is way more then 24 hr. They took my money and didn't fulfill there end. They was supposed to send a confirmation email on the 12 th stating my unlocked was pending That process didn't get done until I went in store sat and the ice rep. Told me and we did it then. Att is not treating customers relight but prices are sky high. Had to work and when I get off they was close. But if you pat them online they should have finished my process and still shouldn't be having problems getting this phone unlocked. I DO. NOT RECOMMEND NO ONE TO JSE ATT. SERVICES IS HORRIBLE. Since I moved into a new apartment this summer, I've had the absolute worst experience with AT&T. The first time I spoke with someone, I was told someone was going to come install my equipment, so I took off an afternoon from work. I later found out that this has been misordered, and it was instead placed as a self-installation; however, I never received the first set of equipment. When it was reordered, it was missing pieces. Next, I was told the missing piece could get delivered then it turned out only a full new set could be delivered then it turned out a person did need to come out to misplace the missing piece (mind you this should have happened the first time). This was all on a single call. I was beyond frustrated, so I called my apartment to determine what other service I could use. This is when and where I am currently at. I have spoken with AT&T multiple times with multiple different people to have my account deactivated and to receive a full refund for any charges, as I did not use their services at any point in my new apartment. Four plus months later I am still receiving emails that my account is active. Even worse, auto-pay is set up, but the website shows my account as no longer existing, so I cannot remove my payment. In 2022, internet service should not be this difficult, and billionaire-dollar, international company should not be this incompetent. Save your money and stress and use another service.

I called to AA&T one of the last days of October to cancel my business account because I have sold my restaurant. The AA&T representative suggested me to transfer my account to the new owner instead of cancel it and told me that I was going to receive a check as a credit because I had automatic payments and they have been charged my payment in advance, it sounded good to me and I agreed with it.
I didn't receive any check, so I called to verify if my account was closed and this time I was told that I had to go to an AA&T store to check it out because my four digits security PIN number was not accepted and they needed verify my identity. I went to the store and and they told me my account was closed.
Today I got a AT&T charge on my account of $160.25. I called them again and the lady told me my account was not closed, they couldn't reimburse any money to my account and I could be charged for the AA&T modem if it was not returned. I told her that the AA&T Technician took the modem with him when he made the installation for the new owner.
I just can't believe the horrible service of this company. It is the worst for me! I had to paid for their own employees mistakes. Don't go with AT&T.

Dont use them. Told a fourth line addition to my plan would reduce my bill. I told the respresentative that i dont need one we area 3 person family. He told me get it, get the reduction in your bill and dont use it. To find out when i reviewed my bill i was being charged $100 more a month. Then to find out that i was put into a contract for a new phone number and a new phone! What? To cancel this will cost now $435.00 termination fee! OUT RIGHT LIARS, THIEVES, MANIPULATORS! RUN DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY AHVE FALLEN TO A LEVEL OF DISCGRACE! I would not give any stars but i need to give at least one to post this.
