AT&T has a rating of 1.2 stars from 2,434 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about AT&T most frequently mention customer service, new phone, and next day problems. AT&T ranks 245th among Internet Service Provider sites.
Very disappointing when finding that all rewards offered when activating Internet 300 service online are automatically switched to a bundled product that after 7 weeks has not yet arrived. They sent an email 2-3 days after service activation showing that you qualify for an "extra" reward but what they don't disclose is that if accept this "extra" reward, it automatically disqualifies you from the other rewards, close to $250. Just cheating to get you in because most probably you won't even receive the bundle. After 7 weeks waiting period, they just said that an extra 4 weeks are needed. Would it arrive? I think this is just an AT&T SCAM!
I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T recently. Terrible experience from the beginning! Customer service is non-existent! Wait time to speak to a rep was greater than an hour multiple times! Additionally, my bill contained duplicate charges.
App never works. Website hardly ever works. You have the "ability" to control certain things when it comes to your account, but getting the site or app to pull up to do it is such a pain, you rather not bother with it. I'm done with the aggravation and will be changing providers.
Tip for consumers:
Don't- find a different provider

This isn't a review about their website but about their people at their stores. During Christmas while on a trip through California, I visited the ATT store in Elk Grove, CA to buy a wifi hot spot device. For the first time ever I came out of a phone company store with a smile on my face. Not only were the ATT people knowledgeable but they were really nice and eager to help me. I was shocked. I then went into an ATT store in Torrance, CA with my boyfriend so he could buy a phone and we had the same experience there. ATT has really improved their staffing. They used to be the worst - it was always painful to deal with the company - but now they are terrific. Maybe all phone companies have improved - I hope so.

Been with this company over 30plus years! Had it with the overpriced, undervalued SERVICE! Never had full bars. At best 1! Hidden fees up the ying-Yang! Time to move on to better! You SUCK AT&T!

They told me my bill would be cut in half, instead it's more. I paid $800 to close my Verizon contract and so far $950 to AT&T, out of my 4 phones 3 were new, now I'm locked into a 3 year contract at double the quoted price and nothing I can do about it. Please make sure you have everything in writing because this company is a rip off. I'm going to the BBB to see what they can do

They automatically added damsung earphones as free. Then charged for them. Completely botched the order, fixed part of it. Then lied about fixing the part for the other line. I finally talked to one honest CSR rep after days of efforts and cancelled the whole thing before they completely screwed up our phone lines

With competitors offering great deals left and right you would think that at&t would step up their game. Nope. Just don't do it, waste of time and money and when you leave they get you with early termination fees and all sorts of extra costs.

Switched to AT&T in November last year! The worst decision ever! Mind you I'm on auto pay! Every month I get a message saying you are past doe then The Calls start! Three phone calls a day! So now this has been going on for the past seven months I have to call in every other month to make the payment and set up auto pay again! They say my last payment was on may 26th but they pulled money out on the 29th of may and have no record of this payment! So tired of the non-professional service at AT&T!

Go phone! You must add money to your account in "package amounts", and money expires after a certain duration, and then it is non refundable! It expires before your next months bill, so if you were forced to pay more than you needed for the month through the "package amount", you won't get back the rest of the money you spent, and it will not be applied to the next bill!

The employee tricked me into signing up for the phone plan, and there were many additional charges. It took two days, and I'm still being charged this month.

AT & T customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. It is hard to understand the people you are speaking with. I called to change my billing address on my account, that is all. I was on the line for over 35 minutes. I kept being switched from one person to another. You can't even call it Customer Service. It is the most incompetent service I have ever experienced.

If I could give your company a zero I would! So happy we have options these days because I will be canceling my services from your company today! Unprofessional, poor management, and just flat out nasty!

Not only are they misleading the out right lie about monthly charges. I was told that my bill would be $50 a month with unlimited data. I received a bill for $70 and change with only 2 gigs of data with ran out in days

As you search for cable providers AVOID A T &T U Verse. They also own Direct TV. They lie also. Had U Verse many years but the last few years they do nothing but lie. Have over seas phone rooms so when calling never get same agent. They will tell you anything, promise a rate or promo but it never happens. When you call back of course different agent. They will say they have no record of what was promised... they are terrible... they also will give a price but of course that is for Direct TV then transfer you... also lie and make you commit to 2 year contract.
When cancelling, they will tell you about billing cycle. So even when service is stopped they charge you remainder of billing cycle. Total cheats.
When you return equipment at UPS store make sure you keep receipt as they will try and tell you weeks later they never got it. Tried that scam on me but but never apologised for trying to extort me out of 100 bucks.
They are terrible

I have spent at least 20 hours trying to resolve billing issues with ATT and still don't have it resolved. They have never honored the promised billing rate and never provided a credit for a phone that i traded in on a new one. I have spoken to countless people and not one of them is helpful or even courteous. I am switching to T Mobile where they at least appreciate me as a customer. This is the most dishonest and difficult company i have ever dealt with. Buyer beware

Transferred 5 times in one day with a promise that a Supervisor will return my call. Day two transferred 3 times no response or results. Day three transferred twice no results still cannot help. Searching for a better service wireless and TV. Been with Att for 20 years. Time to move on!

I called Comcast; however, AT&T answered pretending to be Comcast. When I advised them of my technical issues, instead of helping me, they tried to cx my Comcast account and open me an AT&T account. They are worse than vultures. This is why I cx'd AT&T a long time ago.

We have used ATT wireless for over 20years. I have been on hold for hours and sent to multiple locations within ATT to resolve the matter. Still not fixed. We will be finding a new carrier. How can a company such as this have such terrible customer service? I've literally been dealing with this issue since June. I'm not under contract so I'm leaving this excuse of a corporation. BTW, I'm on hold again!

Found out that AT&T are running scam on their customers.
The support not allowed to help you get a refund in any kind.
Extra fees will show on your bill.
Hidden fees if you find out the scam and decided to cancel.

Watch out for hidden fees they will charge extra on everything they can.

I know a lot of people hate AT&T, but I get my Internet at home from them -- I pay $14 per month for 4 mbps DSL. No strings attached. No land-line needed. I just had to buy a $100 modem. This was in contrast to Comcast who charged me $35/mo. I have not had any egregious customer service issues yet and my internet has never gone down. I really can't complain, and I feel like I'm getting a deal (note: I do not use AT&T for mobile phone service).

A simple request of changing a home number turned into 1 1/2 hour phone call, $30 refund, $99 refund and still having a bill of $53! Please explain to me; How hard is this process?!? Not to mention being told I'm still being billed for internet that I canceled 7 months ago and was give $150 refund because I actually canceled last July 2021! They just keep screwing up my billing and my request for change of service because I'm elderly and they think I'm stupid! But this will be fixed or they will be SUED!

We were literally conned out of thousands of dollars in overcharges and fees to escape this scam. We have been paying $500 a month for three phones (one a cheap back up to save our old number) and a 2 MEG download Internet connection. When we contacted them we were told our community had Fiber. In doesn't. Turns out it is ancient DSL delivered over phone cables. Then they told us Fiber was about to be installed, and the two megs was "temporary." But of course we are being charged for Fiber.
As I write this Spectrum is at our home replacing everything. In another hour we will go from a download speed of 2 megs to one gig, for LESS money and with more features.
And our phones will go from $200+ a month to $30 a month each. Whatever it costs us, it is worth it to free ourselves from AT&T.

I've tried multiple times to have someone repair my 80-year old sister's landline service. Att checks the line and says, "no problem." I say one of her phones has no dial tone and the other no one can hear anyone speaking. I tell the agent this and am connected "to someone who can help." That's a joke; I'm connected to att business service; an agent who tells me to contact "Frontier." What's that when I want Att? I'm connected to someone with such a thick foreign accent I have to ask each word be spelled, and even then can't understand. I'm put on hold to connect to equipment service but get disconnected multiple times. At the end of each useless call I'm told about the value of Att internet service and with the promotion I can save money. In the meantime, my sister is paying for a service she can't use and can't get anyone to fix. Att is no longer interested in servicing a landline. The company wants to sell internet plans. Forget service. Just sell plans.

I have been calling ATNT for seven months, every single month about my credit for upgrading to a new phone. Two upgrades and 7 months later no credit. They keep you on the phone forever and absolutely nothing in return. I even threatened to cancel my account and they were more than happy to provide me with a payoff instead of coming up with a solution. Terrible!
