AT&T has a rating of 1.2 stars from 2,434 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about AT&T most frequently mention customer service, new phone, and next day problems. AT&T ranks 245th among Internet Service Provider sites.
Very disappointing when finding that all rewards offered when activating Internet 300 service online are automatically switched to a bundled product that after 7 weeks has not yet arrived. They sent an email 2-3 days after service activation showing that you qualify for an "extra" reward but what they don't disclose is that if accept this "extra" reward, it automatically disqualifies you from the other rewards, close to $250. Just cheating to get you in because most probably you won't even receive the bundle. After 7 weeks waiting period, they just said that an extra 4 weeks are needed. Would it arrive? I think this is just an AT&T SCAM!
I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T recently. Terrible experience from the beginning! Customer service is non-existent! Wait time to speak to a rep was greater than an hour multiple times! Additionally, my bill contained duplicate charges.
I purchased a cell phone at the AT&T store in Santee. I was told the cell phone would be delivered to my home. I informed the sale rep that I was still going to be at work at the time of delivery. I asked her if that would be a problem. She told me it would not and that they would just drop it off.
The next day the delivery did come and was asking for me with a valid identification. I was pretty upset at that moment because its exactly what I had asked the sales rep the day before. I contact the store and spoke to the manager.
I quickly learned he was going to be of no help. I explained my situation and he informed he would speak to the associate. Which was fine. Training your employees to be more clear is fine but how is that helping my current situation. He informed me I could just add my boyfriend to the account and the delivery could give it to him. I explained to him I was currently at work and did not know how to add him. Already frustrated with the entire situation the manager became very unprofessional. His words "We have been on the phone 8 minutes we could have finished this 2 minutes ago". So that is how we speak to customers. I asked for his name we he provided and told me he did not have to give me his last name. Which was fine I already knew I was no longer going to continue by business nor recommend anyone to his store.
The delivery driver was able to get me the phone the same day. I appreciate her service. The next day I went to AT&T in person. Absolutely was pleased with customer service. He was so quick I didn't even realize he was finished with my request. Great customer service. The Santee manager could learn a lot from this gentlemen. If I didn't need my phone I would have returned it and purchased at the 5658 Mission Center Road Suite 301.

An acquaintance had paid me cash to pay his phone bill with my card a few times. We had a routine that ensured safety and trustworthiness for both of us. I would not save my card info in the account and left a message with AT&T notes that it should only be used when manually inputted by the customer. Let me just emphasize that we were thorough and we both know for fact that neither of us did anything wrong.
One time after payment I saw on my bank statement that AT&T had double-charged me. I know it was a double charge because it was the exact same amount with change and happened at the same time, 1AM.
I called them only 2 days after the transaction when I had noticed this and explained the situation. They said it should not take more than 48 hours to refund me. I look back a week later and the charge had not returned, so I called again.
This time they said there was nothing to refund because they used the money. I asked them why they would use my money instead of giving it back to me, and they just said "I don't know, it was just used." I insisted to speak to a manager and file a fraud complaint that their company had stole from me, but they kept saying they weren't allowed to speak to a manager. I was passed around to a few low level employees where nobody had any power so they could bull$#*! with me as if they were actually getting me to someone in power.
I could not even have them leave a complaint that I would never shop with them and would recommend everyone against AT&T. I have an amazing phone company with the cheapest most innovative technology and service around called Republic Wireless. I worked at Best Buy for a year. I told AT&T that they would potentially lose HUNDREDS of customers because of me. I routinely told this story in warning to others again and again and it made a real impact.
AT&T stole from me. I could have sued them in small claims court (it was under $250 thankfully). Let that sink into your head real good. A company committed FRAUD and none of their employees cared to have the courage to actually help me. I say courage because I worked in customer service 3 years and I damn well have the courage to do the right thing.
Tip for consumers:
Boycott AT&T. They STOLE FROM A CUSTOMER.

My wife has had a Ma Bell/AT&T landline service account for 60 years and she has always paid by check. She has never had occasion to set up an online account for logging in and monitoring the account until this August 2022 when storm rain damaged the buried landline. Service was finally reconnected after 2.5 months and during our conversation with AT&T about closing the work order we were informed that AT&T was going to stop landline service and we had to cancel the service or switch to fiber optic. The back history is that her AT&T service had always been active during power outages so she decided to keep the service and she assumed that would not change. We were assured by AT&T that we would not be charged for the 2.5 months of no service. But the bills were sent to us for September and October.
A technician came a week later and changed the landline to fiber optic. I asked him if the service would be affected by a power outage and he said that it would go dead. That reply triggered a whole day of talking with several customer service associates and being transferred several times. They had signed us up for Internet which we did not request nor want plus home phone which we wanted. By day's end the account and service was cancelled and the hardware will be removed the next day. When the technician completed the fiber optic installation he gave me a slip of paper with the account login which I used to set up the account management but there was a glaring defect in the site software. The site responded properly to the new user ID and password but all account navigation buttons did not respond. Tech assistance was not able to help to correct the problem.

This is a disgusting company like literally no other words can describe it. I placed an online order for internet and they said it was take about 2 days woo! Wrong. It has been almost 2 weeks and I still do not have internet. But what I did get is an at&t technician to come out to my house to try and SELL ME AT&T PHONE SERVICE AFTER WASTING 2 WEEKS OF MY TIME. NOOO I DON'T WANT A HORRIBLE PHONE COMPANY TOO! I digress… however this man literally came and did nothing but try and sell me at&t phone service in my OWN HOME. Very uncomfortable. And they shipped me multiple Internet Modems (internet box) and then told me i had to ship them back before I could get the right one (wasting my TIME & GAS) but then I couldn't even return the box because I didn't know the account number associated which I WOULDN'T KNOW BECAUSE I DIDN'T PLACE THAT ORDER…… I really wish I was lying about even 1 part of this but i'm really not. And now I finally got my box and it will not set up properly. I know about this stuff and know it's not my fault and now they say they are only going to give me a credit for the first 7 days of the month…WHAT! But now are sending out a technician to "fix" it aka probably try and sell me phone service and realize he's not an advanced enough technician and I didn't just plug it in wrong and have to send a real person here and then I'll have to call back again and wait an hour on the phone to talk to the supervisor to get the measly 3 more days added onto my 7 days of free credit …. Absolutely ridiculous dude I am self employed and if I treated people like this I would be in jail.

Do not use this please get anything else. They are the very bottom.

When I was trying to set up service the man asked me some questions for confirmation and they were in 2016 who did I take an auto loan through? Well I cosigned for 3 kids and have a car of my own and did not know! Next question was in 1993 who did I take out a Student loan through... well that has changed numerous times and didn't have any idea. I failed and he said I had to download a bunch of stuff and I said no thanks, I will just go to Spectrum, I said it nicely, as I was in the middle of a move and did not have a time. He said: " You are so lazy" Are you kidding me? To be talked about that way?! By the way I am 58 years old and in tip top shape and work out 6 days a week while working full time and just picked up a part time job! Do I deserve to be called lazy! I was given a time for the installer to come out on 3 different occasions between 11:30 and 2 time slot. The installer called at 8am and said he would be there in 25 min. I could not get a hold of the person I had set up to be there for him. So I secretly called from my office in a high school that I share with 5 other people. I did not want anyone to know I was doing personal business. The person I was talking too kept beating around the bush, so I asked for a manager... he said quit shouting at me. I was making a secret phone call from work and he said I was shouting? He also said I should call the original person I talked too! 1st, does anyone really know who they originally talked too? Secondly if by some rare chance I did... could I really contact him/her again? I use to think At & T was good, it has been 4 years since I was with them, but WOW oh WOW have they gone down hill! So disappointed, thank goodness we are not in contract! Nobody deserves to get talked to the way I did! I am a professional, kind and deserve to be treated that way!

I'm not even sure where to begin…my fiancé has terminal stage 4 breast cancer, she's unable to work. She had a cancer organization pay for her phone plan for a couple of months. *Note, it takes about 6 months in my experience for an organization to reach out to you considering the other cancer patients they are helping out. We visited an AT&T store to add $180 to her account to keep the account current that we didn't have (waiting on the cancer organization) come to find out she has $200+ credits. The store associate was confused of why we were even paying $180. I guess AT&T is against using store credit to put towards a bill…idk. Her phone was cut back on because the $440 the cancer organization added to her AT&T account plus the $180 that came out our pocket in store. We don't understand why the $180 was needed due to the $200+ credits on her account already. We called customer service to have the $180 reversed because it wasn't really needed the first place, by the way…customer service is absolutely rude and completely useless. The customer service rep reversed the $440 instead of the $180 and it canceled her service completely. On top of that they aren't able to reverse the $180 that we paid in store with a card to but able to reverse the $440 that was processed back in November from the cancer organization… the rep canceled and reversed the wrong transaction and it completely screwed her account. *Note we have no idea which organization it came from, it will also take another 6 months for them to even reach back out to her. The negligence and ignorance of the customer service rep costed my fiancé her entire phone plan and account and there's nothing AT&T can do about it. I'm not sure why we have to suffer because the rep canceled and reversed the wrong transaction. She should be credited $440 due to the wrong doing of the rep, that was not our fault the customer service rep is dumb and incompetent of doing his job correctly. I'm out $440 plus $180 almost $600 now and there's apparently nothing y'all can do about it. I'm going to contact BBB. I'm beside myself.
Tip for consumers:
I have proof of payments, your system has all the proof needed to make this reversal.
