I recently ordered a men's dress shirt from Belk for my husband for an upcoming wedding. I paid expedited shipping to ensure it'd arrive in time. It came when expected; however, I couldn't believe what I saw when I opened the package. The shirt was crammed in a shipping envelope, extremely wrinkled, outfitted with a handwritten tag, and missing the tie it was supposed to come with. Honestly, it looked like something from a thrift store, rather than a department store. I immediately contacted Belk and asked that a replacement be sent overnight; however, they refused, stating "it's against their policy to ship a replacement overnight." That excuse is ridiculous, as it wouldn't need to be sent overnight had Belk not sent me a used, damaged item! Don't waste your time shopping at Belk; you'd be better off going to Goodwill.

Ordered a staff member a suit online. Coat was fine. Slacks ordered 11-11-22 and received 11-16-22 and staff member reported slacks were too small and please order larger. Their return page was not clear on exchanges, in exasperation I went back to their site to order the slacks, the price had went up from $61.25 per pair on 11-11 to $175 per pair on 11-16. Belk would not give any consideration to the order on cost, I called their horrible customer service department who told me if I needed the slacks they were now $175. Nice markup there Belk. Poor business practice. Buyer beware.

Total waste of time!

I saw a real nice pair of gladiator shoes on their website that were stated to be leather and black. They were not leather, neither were they black. They were material black and tiny dots of white. Very pretty shoes, but not what was advertised. I called them to find out how to return them and they said it would take up to 4 to 5 weeks to get my money back. Up to 5 days to get a return label in the email, and up to 3 weeks to get it in the mail. So by the time you send the shoes back and they register the item has come back it could be 5 weeks for a return of money. This is a very poor way of doing business. Wrong color, not leather, up to five weeks for return to post. And you have to bring it to the ups store to mail it. Extremely inconvenient. Only nice thing about the experience is the phone reps are very nice.

Disappointed
June 1, 2021

I went to the store on Memorial day to get good bargains. There was only one dressing room open and the woman attendant was extremely rude. I went to pay for my items, there was only one cashier. She asked me if I had a coupon, I told her that I didn't think to download one, I then asked her if she had one, she said she did and I asked if she could use that one. When I got home, I saw that she didn't use it. I pulled up the coupon on my phone and it was a 50% addition off. I won't be going back there anytime soon. So disappointing.

Trying to place order

Trying to place order. Says there is a problem and to see highlighted area. There is not a highlighted area and my credit card info is correct. Aggravating. I'm not calling... no order from me. Looks like others have the same experience with this site.

I bought a robot vacuum for my daughter in law for Christmas. She was able to use it twice and it stopped working. She had already threw the box away (because whenever you purchase something you don't expect to have to take it back). They wouldn't give me credit because she didn't have the box.

Spent 82 dollars on a 60 dollar item after spending two hours at checkout because they for some reason don't expect any visa even though It say they do, after all of that I waited three weeks for the item and got it way past the event I bought the item for, terrible website

I closed my account today! I use to pay $29.00 Monthly payments! Once I closed the account today I received my next month payment due $72.00 dollars! Are they mad I closed the account? No company should treat a cardholder like this! I will NEVER shop there AGAIN!

I wish I would have looked at the reviews here before I ordered from Belks. I've never heard of a company that charges the whole amount of your order, then charges again when the order is shipped, claiming that one charge will be dropped.

Shame on you, Belks! The banks don't recognize your questionable accounting practices as the entire amount (2x!) is charged before merchandise even arrives. In the meantime, I hope I actually receive my merchandise.

Disappointed

I ordered two pair of boots on Black Friday, my order was submitted. I received an email stating that my order had been received and processed. A few days later I received one box of boots and they were not the ones I had ordered. The mailing address was correct but the invoice was not. They were the wrong boots and the wrong size. I called customer service to see what could be done, all they could do was credit my account. I asked if they could contact the lady who ordered the boots that I have and to see if she had the ones I ordered. As of today I have not heard from customer service regarding this matter. I am sure this lady would like to get her boots just like I would like to get mine. They are sending me a return label to send the boots back. I am sending them back to Belk and I hope they can send them to her.

Order mixup

Ordered two items from belk.com for different persons. They sent the wrong item to the wrong person and then made me pay for it. All they did was agree to let me order a new item for the right person at a discount

Got a coupon for 20% off at Belk last week, and this week they were having a sale, so my friend & I stopped in. Coupon said "includes all beauty" (which they have to add because they usually exclude it). The sign in cosmetics said "15% off" -- so great! The mailing for the sale had said "Extra 15% off beauty" so I'm thinking doubles, right? Nope. This is Belk. So not only did they NOT stack the 15% off sale and the 20% off coupon, they wouldn't even honor the 20% off coupon "because it's already on sale!" The employees are nice, and I like what they sell, but they are absolute weasels with the coupons. We left without buying anything and my friend is now boycotting them.

Price Scam
April 7, 2021

It was a scam on the part of Belk Department Store. The item online was more than the price on the item. On the item it was $100 online it was $150. Belk & Co. Aquamarine Cross Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver UPC: **************. I purchased a second Cross Pendant with Emeralds. The price was torn off the box and cut off the label. I am sure it was done because it was not the same price as advertised. So, they marked the item up to mark on sale! I will be returning the item, because it was of poor quality.

They've changed
May 16, 2023

I must admit that over the past 5-6 years Belks has changed from one of the finer Southern department stores to, um, lesser quality merchandise and poor packing. One of the many business that has not quite come back from all the covid-badness...lack of help and perhaps less caring personnel. However, last winter they shipped a package in a plastic bag (if you will) to the frozen North. The bag was beat up and torn in several spots and the merchandise (a couple dresses and blouses) were wet, some were part dry - wrinkled, dirty and smelly. They backed the entire shipment and sent me replacements. I cannot say a bad thing about Belks, expect they should send merchandise in a box, when going to the North and the snow.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. The items I got are CHEAP stuff from China. Not even useable. Can not get them on the phone, and maybe would get an answer via email, but they don't address the complete issue, and then they don't answer next email.

Bad Customer Service

Never can find anyone at cash registers. Had a exchange, just wanted to do even exchange. After finally found someone to help me, they told me to go get a item at the same price and it would be an even exchange. I found another item same price, however once again no one at the register. Finally found someone else ( that didn't have a clue) would not do an even exchange. Waste of my time! Ask for manager no manger to be found ( of course). The second clerk that would not do the exchange had No Idea what she was doing. I want go back to the Murfreesboro Tennessee store!

A TERRIBLE WEBSITE

They are advertising the sales on their website. So I have placed several orders on their website for my business. They confirmed the orders. Then in few days they canceled them all. I called the customer service. Their answer was they are all cosmetics, so their vendor does not allow me to purchase so many. So many? Four different items! If your company can't afford a sale. Then don't even run one! That's so pitiful!

I have never been so frustrated with a company before! I have been a loyal customer for many years and that ends today. I bought three suitcases for and upcoming trip in February. I have been charged for four suitcases at four different prices. I have been trying to work this out for months. Each time it gets more tangled. I have spoken to eighteen customer service reps. Each one reassures me that the problem is fixed. I spent 1.5 hours on hold today waiting for a representative. After a brief conversation we were disconnected. Please reconsider before you order from Belk online

I was a seasonal employees at belk here in McDonough GA. They told me that they would keep me until the 12th of January which I did agree to. But they did not put me on the schedule, other people that was hired the same time has me they give them hours, it's not fair because they hired you with all assurance that they will let you work until the 12th. I am dissatisfied with the way they do business the Manager said you have to sell at least 1 credit card a week, if you don't they will let you go or drop your wages. I don't think that belk should force they're costumers to take out a credit card they don't need. It's unfair. All I can say belk is not a nice place to work, some of the employees at this same store are not friendly. I would never work for them again... un satisfied employees...

I had a lady called Delores help me she was very kind and thoughtful despite her busy day and lack of time to even eat lunch. She was kind enough to offer me a 20% discount for the extra long wait due to the long line of customers. Thanks Delores I will definitely return to belk.
