Never again

Wouldn't even give one star... I made an order last Saturday, got a confirmation email that same day. On Monday, I get an email saying they've CANCELLED my order- no explanation given. I sent an email to ask why, and as of today (Thursday) absolutely no response. NOT GOOD! Especially going into the holiday season when people will be buying gifts for family and friends. To just have your order cancelled a couple of days after you make the order seems pretty unacceptable. And then to give no reason- really unacceptable. Their canned cancellation email said something like- ‘So sorry! And don't worry, your card won't be charged. Hopefully you'll give us another chance!' But NO, I certainly won't. And yeah, mentioning that they won't charge me for the order I won't be getting? How very gracious of them. There are many other retailers who actually value their customers, so I'll make it a point to buy from them instead. If you're looking to get gifts for the holidays, I'd think twice about ordering from belk.com. Who knows- if they cancelled my order, then your orders could be cancelled with no explanation also.

Good quality merch

So I purchased 25 items online from belk as a first time shopper. The sales were just too good to pass up and I really needed work/winter clothes. After purchasing I realized that I didnt look up reviews beforehand to make sure this was a reputable company as I had never heard of them (bad on my part). All I saw was bad reviews especially about purchasing online which made me extremely nervous, but decided that whatever it's too late and ill just find out for myself whether purchasing was a good idea or not. It took me about 2-3 weeks to get everything I ordered and every single item I got was perfect (I live in oregon for reference). Quality was exactly what was described and shown in the photos and the sale prices were such a bargain. Way cheaper than buying online from kohl's or target but the same type of quality. I think the only people that take the time to sit down and write a review are the angry ones which makes sense but thats what encouraged me to write this about pleasant experience that I personally had. I will definitely be online shopping here again

I ordered several things from Belk in March, I received all items except one. I am still disputing this charge with Belk. I am so frustrated with the customer service and, after being a Belk customer and cardholder for years, I doubt I will shop at the store or online EVER again.

Ordered cosmetics and needed to return 2 of them. Their policy on their store receipts and online order receipts states that items can be returned within 180 days with receipts. I attempted to return 2 cosmetic items (within 180 days with receipts) and was told that I could not return cosmetics due to Covid. THAT WAS NEWS TO ME! WHY DIDN'T THEY LET THEIR CUSTOMERS KNOW THEY HAD CHANGED THEIR POLICY? (EVEN WALMART LETS YOU RETURN COSMETICS!). Their "NEW" policy (A small sign at the register) states that cosmetics (along with other items) can not be returned due to Covid if the seal is broken. High end cosmetics do not seal their products... therefore, no seal is present and therefore, no return! I do not think that Lancome and/or Estee Lauder would prohibit a refund or exchange to keep their customers happy and coming back! DO NOT BUY FROM BELK UNLESS YOU KNOW FOR SURE THAT YOU WILL KEEP THE ITEM! OTHERWISE GO TO TARGET, KOHLS OR WALMART TO MAKE YOUR PURCHASE. IF YOU WANT TO PURCHASE HIGH END COSMETICS, GO TO DILLARDS!

Buyer Beware

Bought a necklace for $200 roughly, top designer, and it came knotted together & loose, moving around during shipping, in a box bigger box. I don't believe it's authentic either. I contacted them & had to open a case. Nobody has called me back. I absolutely will either return this item or dispute it with the bank. Terrible service. Beware...

Worst Store Ever

WORST STORE EVER, They refuse to cancel order immediately after it was placed, they ship item and make it VERY HARD for you to return and complicate the process so you forcibly keep the item beside very rude customer service who ended the chat during the middle of the conversation.

They are refusing to send FedEx pickup for the package and want me to go to FedEx store which is not near me to drop package in the middle of pandemic and risk my health to get refund, they are trying to make it hard to return items in hope you change your mind and keep the item.

NEVER EVER buying anything from this company again, absolutely HORRIBLE customer service.

Heartbreaking
October 24, 2020

I can hardly even walk into a Belk anymore. What's happened to these stores is Literally heartbreaking. There's no pride in how the stores look. There are "this register closed" signs everywhere, very few employees seen anywhere. Once a proud, family-friendly chain... so many amazing memories... is now just a shell of itself. Such a shame. Guess that's what buyouts and greed do to old time values and heritage

I ordered some make up. Received part of my order but not the EsteemLauder night cream. According to tracking, it never got shipped. I sent 2 emails, never heard one word. Called customer service and was told the info could be wrong, so I have to wait another 14 days and if not received to call back. He said they would refund or resend product. Horrible service. Thinking of doing a charge back from credit card and contacting BBB. Horrible customer service.

The rewards card

My son went in to get a dressy outfit for a wedding he was asked if he wanted a rewards card and he specifically asked them if it was a credit card and they told him no it was a rewards card then a few months later he gets an email saying he has unpaid late fees and he didn't know it was a credit card that is not very transparency and for young kid to be scammed is beyond me. I will never shop at belks again

My first time ordering:

1. They put a "hold" on my debit card for the entire amount of my order, $247. Then, they charged me again as the items left the warehouse in multiple shipments. I currently have DOUBLE the amount of my order ($494) pending in my bank account! This means I HAVE NO ACCESS TO THESE FUNDS.

When I called Belk, their very rude customer service manager blamed my bank for not releasing the "hold" fast enough. He didn't seem to think that this practice (of charging a customer the full amount; and then charging the customer the full amount again) was abnormal. He even argued with me about it! He said he'd email me the contact information to their corporate office but I never received an email. I called back and another customer service person said she'd email me. Still no email. It's been several days and the money, $494 is still pending in my account. I only spent $247 with Belk! This is unheard of! What kind of a company does this?

2. I received an item that was not as pictured or described on their website. I checked the sku # and it was listed correctly but the item's manufacturer tags were for a different pant with a different name. It turns out that Belk mislabeled the item in their warehouse, in the online photos, and online description!

3. I ordered a size XSmall sweater and received a size Large.

4. I entered my email in the website for a $10 coupon for a first time order and the coupon didn't work.

I will NEVER ORDER FROM BELK AGAIN. And to read so many similar reviews is disturbing! I NEVER authorized them to charge me twice! What they are doing is NOT legal.

A little known fact... You must cancel an online order within 15 minutes for Bells to honor it. They refused to cancel 2 orders I placed yesterday, even though they have not shipped. I will never shop Bells again.

This particular store has very poor customer care. I like to shop in Belk but there's rarely anyone around to help. If you do track someone down, they aren't willing to happily help. They will do their best to escape you. In fact, the employees I've encountered have been curt and unprofessional. They act as if you're bothering them. This store is grossly understaffed for some reason. I hope they get their act together. This is why people have been shopping more online than in stores. Poor work ethics among Belk staff in Tuscaloosa, AL. They could use some educational classes on how to treat customers!

This company is no longer owned by the Belk family and has become the worst possible online retailer. They ship the wrong merchandise. They ship to the wrong address. Their incompetent customer service team, Josh, Alex, Kayla and Tasha are the worst. After months of errors one after the other from the afore mentioned team, they decided they could not manage their errors and gave up on trying to solve their problems. I contacted their corporate offices, equally incompetent, without a response. The Belk family would turn over in their grave if they could see what this new company has done to their name sake. You can look up the company at the better business bureau and get a link to their corporate executives. One look and it will become clear why this company is a disaster.

I order men's pants online. Received ladies pants. I got a refund but Belk gave me the heave-ho when I tried to get a refund for the cost of return shipping per their policy. Called eight times and got a different story each time. Agents are poorly trained and say anything to get you off the phone.

Poor customer service
August 15, 2020

I went today to return jeans I had bought since we aren't allowed to try them on in the store. I waited in line for 10-15 minutes since there was only 1 clerk at the counter. When I got to the counter the clerk said I would have to go to a different counter for returns. So I went to that counter with only 1 clerk and waited another 10-15 minutes. I finally left. You need to fire upper management and hire people who know how to run a business.

Can't follow terms on their own coupons! Phone person Says "oh its not applying" & can't say anything besides that, when the words on the coupon show that it SHOULD apply to the item I was going to get based on the words on the actual coupon! It's their error and they won't fix it. This is WHY department stores are LOSING! Guess they want to lose customers!

QUESTION ON ORDER
August 8, 2020

Order CHARGED to MY ACCOUNT July 26th and not delivered. Called after waiting being the 20th caller, was told I would received a called from an customer service person. Never received that call. I am going to call bank and dispute charge on card. No more on line ordering at Belk's for me.
