DO NOT BUY - Up until now, I was very satisfied with Best Buy. I've bought many products from them everything from smart watches to speakers, laptops, etc.
However, they have screwed me tremendously. I recently placed 2 separate pre-orders through them for The Child 11 inch plush. Now, this is a hot item because of its popularity. I was planning to give these to my baby cousins.
Where it went terribly wrong... first, I receive an email that there was a delay. Fine. This can happen. No worries. Then, they email me weeks later that the delay email was sent by error and it will be sent by the original delivery date. Good news. Then, I get an email that both my orders were cancelled for no reason. Keep in mind that I placed my orders about ~5 months ago and only now do I hear about the cancellation. Given the demand of this product, it is now sold out everywhere, in which back when I placed the order, I could've ordered it elsewhere while available. Now, Best Buy screwed me big time. Insult to injury, I just received another email that the cancellation was made by error and I can reorder the products through a link. I click the link and it says the product is sold out. How does a company your size not exactly know the quantity of how much your customers can order and you joke and tease by back and forth emails, which in the end you say, "thanks for pre-ordering with us almost half a year ago, we can't match the demand so we'll cancel your order for a full refund. No harm, right? Whom would've received your present doesn't want it or need to get it right?". Good job Best Buy.

I was trying to buy an espresso maker on-line and engaged in their on-line chat session for a price match. Best Buy had what I wanted in Silver and another retailer had the same item but in black, a point I made clear in my chat session. I sent a link to the competitors site along with Best Buys SKU. The on-line "specialist" said they would match the price after purchase. I proceeded to make my purchase and sent him the order # for price adjustment. At this time, he stated that he could not match the price since it was a different color. You would think that someone at best Buy would honor the price the on-line chat "specialist" offered. They did not. They did however tell me that I should buy the product from the other retailer. I will NEVER shop Best buy again!

I hate that I have to leave a star. Used to be a great place to buy electronics and household items and used to have a wonderful warranty program but not anymore. We bought a computer for my daughter with a warranty that was almost the cost of the computer that covered all damage to the computer. We were told when buying the computer by their sales rep that if anything happened you could bring the computer in and they will replace it. Not true you have to take it to Geek Squad and they have to look at an then make a determination if they are going to replace it. You have to call geek squad which we have tried to contact for 2 Days been hung up on several times and been on hold for hours on end just trying to speak with someone so they can send us a box so we can send the computer back and then they can return it to you 3 to 4 WEEKS LATER. I called to the cooperate office to Corie Barry the CEO and I was told by her staff this is their process and sorry. I said this not very good customer service for a company that makes 42.88 BB in revenue and his response was sorry that is how we do business. They obviously do not care one bit about their customer service and DO NOT BUY THEIR WARRANTY it is a HUGE SONG AND DANCE trying to get them to replace the broken item. GEEK SQUAD IS A JOKE. I will never buy anything from them again. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I went to return a tv that was damaged inside the screen when I went the second day they were closed so I was told to go back Monday! And when I did the first employee asked for the receipt. I have it to him and said I'm not touching that, hello of u don't want to touch it and o understand bc the Corona viruse than wear some damp gloves stupid and then the second employees comes and look's at the tv and says nop we cant take the TV back! Like it was still under the 15 day warranty. Not only that they All called the police! Like what!? Since when was it under the law to go exchange or return an damage tv that wasn't my fault, and the way the treated us was disgusting! Never will will I go back
If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. I promise you Ive been on hold today, March 24 2020, for a total of 8 hours. I was transferred over to 8 different departments. I only wanted to purchase a macbook. I am a college student and my university recently transferred online due to the pandemic and I need a laptop now. The amount of BS I had to go through is truly unbelievable. I would NEVER, EVER buy from best buy again. They charged me 5 TIMES for an order that THEY keep cancelling. The first was a delivery issue (they said it could take until April 24, and I have email proof, even though it was available for pickup at a store nearby). So I tried to do that, change the shipping option on the same order, but they cancelled both' orders because it was a duplicate? I tried ordering a third time, and it did not go through, I called and waited on hold for 2 hour and they told me it was an issue with the bank (it wasn't, I later confirmed it was their own system). So the order went through, and then somehow got cancelled. I try ordering a fourth time, and the system claims that I have reached my limit with macbook purchases (I only have cancelled orders, all by them...). I call and Im put on hold another two hours, only to have the rep tell me he can't do anything about the override. I make a new account now, and try using my paypal, and I get a message 5 minutes later saying my identity could not be verified. I was never even asked to verify anything other than my email and phone number. What kind of goddamn company is this?
This policy is very one sided I bought a computer case at best buy in Bowie Md. I always inspect items like this due to Best Buy's habit of items not being complete. They took my money from my account via debit card which was immediately deducted from my account. Now I have to wait 10 days to have my account credited then I want interest paid this is not right.

I did not let me access my statement history online => Make me not aware that I am paying too much for the interest. Then, to get all of my statements, I have to wait for 10 business for the statement to come through the mail. What an efficient company!

The site is ok but the stores are a complete nightmare to deal with. Filled with "customer service" and "sales people" who don't know the first thing about computers and almost never have the parts you need. GeekSquad is just as bad they don't know sh*t about computers either. Ask either the sales people or geeksquad a simple question and you get the I don't know answer or we don't carry that in our store response. I try to avoid going to that store as much as possible due to sheer aggrevation and swearing whenever I'm in there and/or leaving from that hellhole. Walmart is better than bestbuy and that's sinking to the bottom of the barrel when walmart (another dump) is better than bestbuy. That in itself is pretty sad. I wish compusa was still around and I wish circuit city was still in business. I do most of my computer parts shopping through amazon or newegg (when they aren't acting like screwups). And bestbuy's prices are still higher than amazon or newegg and you have to fight them tooth and nail to get them to pricematch something. It's rediculous how those stores are ran. And from the horror stories I been reading from employees with their stupid morning meetings and sales numbers for the week the sales people must get it's a wonder anybody even works there with the amount of $#*! some of those poor bastards go through but then with how a lot of those employees are they're just overpaid for doing absolutely nothing and not knowing anything. Minimum wage is still to high of a pay for a lot of bestbuy employees
Bought two Samsung's tv. High end thousands of dollars spent. Tv had blotches of color. Was told it was "cosmetic" and warranty (which was also bought) didn't cover it. Now have two defective TVs and they won't replace. Take business elsewhere! Had to give one star to submit but would have given a negative zero

Best Buy will price match. They will do so for several other major retailers. They will not with internet only like Amazon. It is very important to match the item you are BUYING to the item that is in the ADD. If there are any even slight modifications they will not do it. For instance I wanted and purchased an HP with a backlit keyboard. The ADD did not have the backlit keyboard so they would not match the price I wanted them to. In this case I ended up going to another store to buy my item. Best Buy does not mention price match so you have to ask for it. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
I had a great distaste for Best Buy due to many negative experiences. Recently I begrudgingly went back to Best Buy to look at 4k TV's. I found the experience to be very enlightening. The sales staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I am not kidding this truly was a great experience. So much so that Best Buy has become the store I Once believed it should have been.
Since then, I have gone back multiple times for other products. There rewards program is "ok". Although they do step you up a level once you start to buy more product. They send you $40.00 off certificates etc. They have a fairly extensive relationship with Magnolia as well. The Magnolia sales person actually delivered my TV personally. I am giving them 5 stars now based on multiple experiences. By the way do take advantage of their price matching program. There are significant discounts to be had there.
BIG PROBLEM for Best Buy customers, If you go Christmas shopping in early December, nothing you purchase will be returnable after the gift is opened on Christmas day because of a 14 day return policy which is UNHEARD of in the retail industry. Your stuck with it. They did it that way intentionally and they will enjoy telling you that you cant bring it back.
Had a problem in store at the Best buy in S. I. N. Y. I had won a tablet at a raffle. It came with a pick up receipt. I went in store to buy a soundbar. I picked out what i wanted. When the sales person brought to their station i told them i wanted to return the tablet and put the money towards the purchase. They directed me to customer service. I explained to them what i wanted to do and handed them the pick up receipt. I was told by the clerk i would receive a best buy gift card and i can then go back to the clerk and pay the difference. A few minutes later i am told the clerk put the credit on the original purchasers credit card and it cannot be reversed. I spoke to the manager Michael A. Asu and he confirmed what had happened. He was no help in getting this resolved. If i was told where the credit was going to i would have stopped the transaction but i was not. I left the store with no tablet, soundbar or gift card. I tried going through Best Buy twitter account but no response. I then went through Best buy forums. 2 people helped me but what they did was call the store and told me that there was nothing they could do. I do not know who bought the item and cannot have them do anything about this. The Best Buy clerk made the mistake of telling me i was getting a gift card but then realized it could only go back to the original credit card but then never informed me and just proceeded with the transaction. At this point i do not know who to contact and i have wasted a lot of my time trying to have it resolved.

We bought a 65in tv and scheduled it to be delivered on January 2. It's now January 8 and Best Buy has decided to cancel our delivery twice. The second time they didn't even tell me it was cancelled, they just never showed up. I called their customer service line and they refused to make good on the delivery. They also refused to give me a refund so I can't go somewhere else to buy a tv. They also refused to reschedule my delivery until they get the tv back to their warehouse, after arbitrarily deciding to not deliver it. They also refused to let me speak to a manger, saying I have to wait for them to call me. Truly a frustrating experience.
Best Buy, College Station. TX. My daughter received an Xbox Live subscription on an Xbox card bought at a Best Buy off Gulf Freeway in Houston, TX for an Xmas gift (12/25/19). With this gift she received a "gift receipt" stating the item bought (Xbox card) and price paid. My daughter already has an Xbox Live subscription so on 1/6/20 we took the "gift receipt" and the brand new (security code intact and not scratched off) to Best Buy In College Station for a store credit so that she may purchase another item for Xmas. The store manager refused to return the Xbox Live subscription card stating Best Buy never gives a return on those items purchased. I pointed out that we have a "gift receipt" which stated items bought can be returned for a store credit. The manager stated he "can issue a "gift receipt" on anything bought - it doesn't mean the item can be brought back for a store credit". SO BEWARE, "GIFT RECEIPTS" ISSUED BY BEST BUY MEAN NOTHING TO BEST BUY! It does not mean the recipient of the gift can return the gift for another item.
I purchased an $800.00 Arlo Pro 2 security system. The base console didn't work, the charging cords constantly malfunctioned, and one started on fire, and could have burned my house down. Customer Service for Arlo was horrible, and I disputed the cost of the system, which was non-returnable after 15 days. I also disputed the charges with my credit card company. Best Buy was horrible, and absolutely refused to budge. In short, I paid a lot of money for trash. Arlo didn't honor their warranty, and had so many issues that they were out of stock on the cords, which were made in China, and clearly chronically defective, based on the 4 cameras I purchased. Out of 4, only one worked, and that failed a short time later. The cameras themselves, which are hundreds of dollars a piece, also failed. I will never shop at Best Buy again. Their short warranty is a dead giveaway to the disreputable approach they take to their customers, knowing their merchandise is excessively priced junk. In short, the way they operate is virtually fraudulent, like a beautiful Christmas Gift that turns out to be a box of cow dung. All show, no quality.
Ordered a security sensor on 12.22 with guaranteed delivery 12/24. Received an email that shipment delayed. Called 12/24. And told them we are leaving 12/28 and if shipment to arrive after 12/27 it will set outside all winter. Was told "no to worry" would arrive before that. Was given a tracking number that didn't work until 12/26 and then UPS said it hadn't received the shipment. BB no help. This company is dead from the shoulders up and I expect them to be out of business in the next few years. Be clear I called them 3 times and was always assured "no problem" I would have cancelled on 12/23 and they didn't have the product ready for shipment until after 12/26 and would not let me cancel. This is not Amazon type service.

Answer: I would write a letter to your state's attorney general. There are laws regarding taking advantage of senior citizens. I would specifically ask for documentation from Best Buy in which your grandmother gave them permission to recycle her 18 month old computer. If they cannot produce that document they may be in very big trouble with the state's attorney general. I would also write the BBB and contact your public officials. This I think would be paramount to theft if your grandmother did not give them permission to recycle her computer. On the flip side of things, ASUS is a very good machine. My son is a computer scientist and swears by ASUS. I have three ASUS machines one of which is over 5 years old and it is a workhorse. Unless something significant happens in the ASUS business world, I will continue to buy ASUS!
