I have dealt with this company several times before but after yesterdays encounter with Terry I will not use their company ever again. A family had ordered a wood casket from them & had it shipped to my funeral home. While transferring the decedent from the church trucks to the hearse the swing bar cracked really badly. I informed the family & also called & told Best Price what happened. The young lady said she would call me back after she spoke with the manager. So I get the call back & she says we can refund back $75. I said I don't know how the family will feel about that after spending almost $1200. So family calls & Terry was very rude to them & then hung up on them. I call them from the funeral home line & they did the same thing to me. I then call from my cell. I get through & before I could get a word in edgewise Terry starts calling me STUPID! Not once but several times! Then asks me how in the hell did you break the swing bar STUPID! Don't talk to me until you email pictures STUPID! Is this how you speak to grieving families & myself a licensed funeral director? I WILL NOT TOLERATE SUCH IGNORANCE. DON'T ORDER FROM THEM! Or Terry just might call you STUPID too or something worse!
I've never been treated to rudely and unprofessionally in my entire life. I called to inquire about the availability of a specific casket for my wife who had died two days prior. I asked him to tell me a little about the caskets they sell and he began a condescending rant which included "well our caskets are made to hold a dead body"... and that was just the beginning. I can count the times I've purchased a casket with one finger and but I've purchased lots of other things and this person was the most rude and offensive person I've ever spoken with over the phone. The only reason I still went through with the purchase was because they had the casket my wife had picked out before she died and I couldn't find it anywhere else. While the initial treatment and ridicule was bad enough the next interaction with them was even worse. The casket arrived on time thankfully. However, at the cemetery, in front of all of our friends and family, they tried to lower the casket into the concrete vault to be lowered into the ground but it wouldn't fit it got stuck. The workers tried to lower it but ended up having to remove a piece of trim (all in front of 100 people) to get casket into the vault. The advertisement said that the casket would fit into a standard sized vault. I called the next business day to let them know about the problem and they proceeded to say that I was stupid and an idiot at least three times and that it was my fault it wouldn't fit. The cemetery and funeral director also called to corroborate my story and they were treated equally poorly. This company is SO rude and unprofessional that I don't want anyone to make the same mistake that I made. The cost savings isn't worth the poor treatment in my opinion.
... Honestly I do not know how this man stays in business with an attitude like he has. Rude, arrogant... In all honesty if this man were giving away Urns or caskets I wouldn't take a thing from him. I would not recommend this company... Did not get a receipt, the casket was not received on time. Called to inquire, but I was hung up on several times, I was threatened with phone harassment, and I was yelled at. Not how anyone wants to be treated at such a time... When I called Best Price Caskets, the gentleman was very rude, obnoxious and could not even get the first question out before he briefly told me what to do. Then wanted to hang up and I said 'wait a minute'. With that, he said he asked 'wait what?" then proceeded to say you are not purchasing a casket from this company. He had a call coming in. I then hung up. I will never ever purchase caskets from this company... I called and identified myself as a previous customer who had just purchased a casket from them less than two month ago for the death of my Brother, and was now purcasing one for my Mother who passed away as well. Did it matter? No. The individual who answered the phone, the owner, Terry Zimmer, accused me of being a "New Yorker" and implied his dislike and discrimination against people from New York. He was racist, rude, insensitive, shouted over my questions. I was simply trying to obtain information regarding a specific casket and inquire about specifications. He yelled at me and said "the specifications don't matter" and was extremely condescending... I called back, the owner, Terry Zimmer, answered the phone a second time and continued to be rude and yelled at me. I asked to speak with a manager and he transferred me to a salesperson. That salesperson told me he could not escalate the call because Terry was in fact the owner of the company. According to the Better Business Bureau, the business is registered as a partnership with Terry Zimmer as owner. The Better Business Bureau for Dallas, TX, also listed several complaints against this company.
My wife called them about their caskets in preparation for her mother's passing. She found a casket that she liked for around $1,400 total but never placed an order. Once the time came to make funeral arrangements, she called to make sure that the one she liked was available and could be delivered on time. They told her she had up to 3:00 PM the next day to place the order. Well, we went to the Funeral Home and when we told the director that we're having a casket delivered. Unexpectedly, he offered to provide a similar one for the same amount. That eliminated any chance of one being delivered late or my having to take the time to inspect it and deal with the packing materials. The FH has to accept a 3rd party casket, but they can't guarantee it arrives on time or in good condition, nor will they take responsibility to inspect it and deal with any shipping material. Hence, it was a lot easier to accept the FH's offer and eliminate this extra hassle that you should factor in when making a decision to use a 3rd party service for a casket.
When we got home later that evening, my wife got a call from BestPriceCaskets asking if she was ready to finish placing the order. My wife said she was sorry, but explained that the FH offered a casket at the same price. That's when the salesman became extremely rude to my wife, accusing her of "shopping around" and wasting their time. Naturally, my wife responded that this was not the case and that he was rude to someone that just lost their mother yesterday. This $#*!'s response was "well, we lost a sale today!" and hung up.
I strongly suggest avoiding these folks unless that's the kind of people you want to deal with at a low point in your life.
Ordered a "Last Supper/La Pieta casket in white on 8/14/2015 with guaranteed delivery by 8/16/2015. Wake was on 8/17/2015@ 3:30 PM. At 1:30 PM the casket had still not arrived and we ended up buying a cakset at the funeral home $2300 more expensive than what we had ordered from bestpricescaksket.com. This company, especially Terry the salesman is nothing but a scam. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Their truck drivers who are supposed to deliver the caskets are lazy and do not go to the airport to pick up the casket when it arrives way in advance. They never offered condolences and became irate when I disputed the charges on my credit card when it was their fault that the casket, ordered 8/14/2015 never arrived by 8/17/2015@1:30pm. When callled they said they may be able to get it to the funeral home by 8:00pm when the wake finished. This company sucks when your mourning and grieving the loss of your mother and then treat you like $#*! on the telephone because they cannot meet their promises. They need to go DOWN and close. If you cannot deliver a casket for a funeral within 3 days then you need to get out of the business. THESE PEOPLE ARE HEARTLESS AND FOUGHT THE CREDIT CARD CHARGES WHEN THEY DID NOT DELIVER BY THE MORNING OF THE WAKE WHEN I ORDERED 88 HOURS BEFORE THE WAKE. Find a better rated company/ This company does not deserve your $$$$$. $#*! THEM!
Answer: Price shop online for the casket you want. Then approach the funeral home that you have chosen and ask them if they will match the price. Funeral homes are already making money on the funeral services and they hate internet competition. In my case they matched the price and I even avoided the shipping costs.
Answer: I purchased a casket from Best Price Caskets and the casket was of excellent quality, arrived on time, and was boxed and packaged correctly to prevent damage. In fact the funeral home asked for my signature to authorize the funeral home to uncrate the casket so it could be inspected. The funeral home uncrated in my presence and all was OK. A form then was sent to Best Price Caskets that all had arrived OK.
