Unbelievable
February 18, 2025

It was a Saturday afternoon and my car died and needed a rental quick. So the only place I could rent it was TF Green Airport. So I went ahead and booked one as I was in a hurry. I thought hey what a great site. So I took an Uber down there. Then as I got down there the airport said I could not get car without a Credit card which was absolutely ridiculous as I had already paid for the car. So all of a sudden I am way down in Providnec with no car. I did figure something out and found a small rental car company that helped me out. So I emailed Economy booking and told them what happened which was an honest mistake when in a rush. They emailed me back saying that they won't give me a refund. So for a guy on Disability the 200 they stole from me his huge money. I mean it was a mistake. I really think they should have given me my money back. I REALLY THINK YOU SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM ECONOMY BOOKINGS. READ THEIR OTHER REVIEWS. THEY SCREW OVER A LOT OF PEOPLE. I WISH I TOOK THE TIME AND HAD THE TIME TO DO MORE RESEARCH.

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

Blackmailed
November 13, 2024

We booked a car through this company for a 5week rental from Stansted airport. We contacted booking group several times before the rental to let them know that we were going to arrive at 4 PM instead of 10 AM and had no response from them but we didn't think anything about it. On arrival to pick up a car through Drivalia we were told there was no car as we had arrived late we informed Drivalia that we had told booking group about a later arrival, but they had no knowledge of it. The drivalia rep then informed us he would find us a car if we were prepared to pay the top insurance premium of £40 extra a day I pointed out to him and that was over £1000 in fees and we couldn't afford that he said therefore there is no car for you so we were left stranded at Stanford airport. Just to double check I then went on the drivalia website and discovered there was at least six cars available to book at Stanford airport but he would not give us one unless we paid the £40 extra. He was basically blackmailing us.
We contacted bookings group to tell them of our situation and up-to-date. They have done nothing about it, except to tell us that we arrived late.

My husband and I arrived at the car rental center of the Miami International Airport and were directed by BookingGroup to an area outside where a shuttle would pick us up to take us to the offsite car rental location. We called the number for the car rental agency multiple times in the course of 30 minutes to request a shuttle and the phone rang continuously, without an answering machine or anyone picking up on the other end. When we called BookingGroup for help, they also could not get an answer and told us they could not get another car for us. We were charged for the rental anyway. When we filed paperwork to get our money back and sent the phone records as proof as requested, we never got an answer and no money back. I do not trust BookingGroup to work with reputable car rental agencies and will not use them again.

If you book here you will not receive any confirmation email. All they send is an email with 1 button. When you press that button, money is immediately withdrawn from your credit card. There is no way you can get this money back. Immediately after it happened I called but with 0 results. I was within 24 hours of picking up the car and therefore not entitled to a refund. What they could do for me was send an email with where and how I could pick up the car.

DO NOT use this car rental company. They do not adhere to their own refund policy. I cancelled my reservation due to bad weather 72 hours prior to my pick-up time, well within their stated 48-hour cancellation window. Despite this, I did not receive a full refund. Instead of a refund to my credit card, I was given a credit. Additionally, a cancellation fee was deducted from what I had paid, even though this fee was not mentioned in their refund policy. To make matters worse, if I wanted the remaining funds transferred back to my credit card, it would cost an additional 60 euros ($65.07). Essentially, you have to pay twice: once to cancel within the 48-hour window and again to have the money transferred back to your original payment method. Look for a company that honors their commitments and doesn't charge hidden fees when you cancel according to their policy.

Scammers

I booked a car to be picked up at Europcar in Alicante airport. On arrival Europcar told me I booked through the US? I am european... Therefore I had to pay an additional fee of 300€ which I refused. Now Bookinggroup threatens me and they will charge me a no show up fee while I stood there for 2 hours and nobody helped me. Thank you gangsters...

Not a good service

Very misleading wedsite, was redirected to an American page and offered the best deal although was completely useless as I didn't have insurance to drive the car. Been contacting customer service for the past week but yet to get even a reply. Stay away from this company because they're support is terrible.

We rented automatic car, end up getting manual car with problem. Their is no way to get response/ support from any one in bookinggroup.
I am still waiting for refund/ compensation on all the problems that we had during our rental. 6 month has pass, and no way to get response from the company.
They have all my details + the complaint details, but does not do anything

Full coverage is completely useless

I logged a full coverage claim on August 18th, and still to the time of writing on September 14th I still haven't heard back from the company - despite both providing all necessary documents as well as attempts to contact their service department. The customer service department is non existing. If you email, zero response. If you contact them by phone then you'll just get rerouted through various pre-recorded messages. Completely useless service, book directly with the actual car rental companies to avoid the same situation I've had.

Be very careful

When booking via Kayak it took me to booking groups site however the pick up location had changed from Luton to Stanstead i called immediately to be told they couldn't change the airport pick up nor give a refund?

The black day was on the 29th of December. Standing for over 1 hour in line for a car. It finally was my turn. The person at the dollar/Thrifty desk told me there were no more cars left. This has been 17 days ago. I stlll waiting for my money. I contacted them many many times. Don"t book with this company! I bought the insurance and still, the desk people still try to sell insurances that I didn't need or want. If they sell you insurances they get a percentage! That is why they try so hard. BookingGroup in awfull. They steel your money!be warned

Avoid doing business here!

This is the worst scam I've ever had in a car rental. I booked a Kauai Hawaii rental. It purported to be $63/day from Avis, which I thought reasonable. I declined damage insurance, roadside assistance, etc. Having a grasp of basic math, I thought this would be $441 for the week. I thought what was in small print - $1182 was with all insurances etc. There was never a chance to check what was to be billed to my credit card. Well $1182 was the amount billed me. And when I reached Economy Group in Latvia they said that $63 was only for the first day! Each additional day must have been $187. To cancel the booking 3 days later cost $75 Euro.

This is fraudulent. And I can't see how to post my review amongst the, no doubt, company written glowing reviews on their web-site.

This company is a scam
October 12, 2019

Reserved a family car through their site and paid all in advance including the all risk' insurance. When arrived at the airport, no reservations was known to dollar car rental. Had to pay double the price I paid to bookinggroup.com and extra for the child seat, which I had paid for before as well. Called them a thousand times, but they are always closed. Not sure when these people work. Sent email to them, got confirmation, but no answer. I have waited 3 months and I am placing this story now. So be careful, their promises are only lies. Contact the car rental directly to get a good offer.

I booked with them in Jan-2019 for April-2019 I paid 56 CAD for full cover insurance.
When I arrived to pick up the car, they said that I don't have insurance and it is not include all the tax. In the end I was charge 200 more. When you tying to call them, you can't get someone. You only can send an email and after two weeks they said this is what should be we can do anything.

Staff were all friendly and polite. Reserved the van online beforehand which made the process even more streamlined. I've used this branch of BookingGroup three times now and every time they've been great so I'd definitely use them again in the future!

BookingGroup now at National counter. Easy access at Newark Airport. Seamless rental. Used kiosk. Got brand new Hyundai Sonata. Fair price. Easy return. No problems. Way cheaper on this trip than Hertz my usual choice.

They advertise a price and only at checkout do they include all the forced add-ons and fees (20% of quoted price). They also advertised a 7 seater + 2 bags, but it really had no luggage space. And they wouldn't allow me to rent two smaller cars instead without charging an exorbitant fee. Go direct to the car rental form.

Flew half way round the world to visit a sick relative, with rental booked at Vancouver. On arrival was told I could not have the car, as I did not have a credit card. This was not mentioned during the online booking. No offers of cash guarantee, Debit card, wife's Credit or Debit card, passport held in safe etc. etc. Were accepted. Used another rental company. Submitted complaint - and told "read the small print". Company now fails to answer all and any queries. Even worse - their UK office has been forcibly closed down as they failed to submit legally required accounts in valid timeframe. WHAT A BUNCH OF CROOKS!
