Given to me as a gift because I love British TV, but this US Britbox app is junk. They highlight a new show non-stop but I tried watching Why Didn't They Ask Evan several times and it buffers, plays 2 seconds, buffers on and on for 2 days now. Happens frequently. Don't even get me started on having to sign in EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU TRY TO WATCH IT. No other app requires constant sign in or buffers like this one. Don't waste your money.
I signed up over a year ago for an annual membership with NO autorenewal. Of course, it autorenewed... at almost twice the original annual billing. I contacted them to cancel and refund. They cancelled and refunded the incorrect account. Fine. I contact them again a few weeks later when I don't see the credit on my credit card. They say they'll process a refund. I wait for weeks. Never happens. I contact them again. They say it's too late and they don't offer "partial" or prorated refunds. HOWEVER, they did cancel my account and it doesn't appear that I have access. So, they charged me for a year without my knowledge or consent, lied to make me think there was a credit coming, and then when I realize that isn't the case, it's too late. I asked to speak to a supervisor. They said there wasn't one available. I asked that one contact me within three days. No one ever contacted me. Now I have to go through my credit card company and through the Better Business Bureau. They suck.
I know Britain is on another continent, but if they are unable to do the job, why are they accepting money from customers in the USA? I have had problems with the streaming service ever since I signed up 4 years ago. Now there is literally no solution they are willing to offer for logging in on my TV. My credit card I had on file had a fraudulent charge, so I was issued another card. This was not a problem on my laptop, but I have tried to get help for logging in on my TV and after 6 weeks of trying, it looks impossible. The 2 customer service phone numbers they have listed online do not work. I begged them to give me a workable number with nothing offered. After multiple emails in which they repeated themselves telling me to try a password they created, of which tried 6 or 7 times, they finally called me and I was in the shower. When I called back, (6 times now since yesterday) the automated message says, " There are no service agents available right now, call back later," end of call. I'm afraid discontinuing service would be just as difficult. Their customer service is a joke.
This can not be viewed on my latest smart 4k tv, or any tv. I beleive you HAVE to have a Samsung tv to access the app and content in itself is not worth bothering about. I don't want to buy Apple Tv to view or small laptop or tablet.
Sadly Britbox will flop as people realise it is inaccesable compared to Netflix and Amazon and even Iplayer, most will cancel their subscription b4 the one month goes-really badly thought out in every way.
When I enrolled in Britbox I was unable to access it on my TV the Samsung model I have does not support it. I immediately contacted the support online and canceled. A debit for the yearly payment appeared on my account on January 9th. When I contacted the 1-800 number I was told that since I did not cancel within the trial period, a refund would not be issued (evidently they did not receive my email canceling). I consider this very poor customer service.
Ever get the feeling you've been had?
Like a wet weekend of tireless repeats, oh and Spitting Image. This is laughable at best and insulting at worse. And they have the audacity to charge for it.
Brit Box offers great series-Silent Witness -the latest we watched McDonald & Dodds-Amazing writers -best we've seen- wish there were more seasons soon- we're watching the last episode!
We watch lots from the Brit box!
I used the service for a number of years as an expat in the US. I was part of the group that was charged $699 earlier in the year instead of $6.99 monthly. I had to cancel my credit card as a result and to be fair, BB did provide 3 months of service free of charge by way of apology. However, when I went to enter details of the new card they were not accepted for some strange reason. My new card works in all of my other accounts but after 5x repeat emails back and forth with their 'customer service' there is no apparent remedy other than suggesting I please 'check all my details' again. Obviously something central to their system is the pivotal tie-in to the original credit card when an account is formed [mentioned by others on this site] but updating a card should be straightforward and not a customer problem in this case [insult to injury is that the new card was necessitated by their monumentally bad billing error]. I am sorry they have trusted web security to an untrustworthy and inept supplier, but I am now a relieved ex customer.
I signed up for a one month free trial, within a week britbox charged me $8.99, but not only that but all of a sudden I was subscribed to Acorn and charged an extra $6.99 I don't even have the acorn app. Been trying to cancel both, SUCH A BLOODY RIP OFF, DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO EITHER ONE OF THESE APPS, about to sue for my money back
It took us a long time to subscribe but we felt it was worth the hassle in order to see all the great shows on offer. After being able to watch for a few weeks, we were suddenly told that we had to subscribe again. We tried to put in our PIN # and were told it was invalid --- we went online and re-subscribed and changed our password. Next time we tried to access BritBox, we were again told that we had to subscribe and that our PIN # was invalid. I have called Customer Service twice and both times they said they were busy and took my phone number, promising that a technician would be calling us within 10-15 minutes... they NEVER called! I am now going to have to go to the hassle of stopping payment. This is just the tip of the iceberg, by the way! When we are watching a show, it will suddenly cut off and the 'loading circle' appears --- sometimes it stops after several minutes, but usually we just have to turn the thing off. How does BritBox stay in business? Meanwhile, I'm trying to find a corporate address or phone number but have had no luck with my attempts. I guess if I were BritBox Corporate, I would hide from my customers, too... We'll just stick with Acorn.
I should have written this review months ago since we are so unhappy with the performance of Britbox. All of the other services we stream on our TV perform just fine, but Britbox has been horrible from the beginning. It constantly buffers, then requests that a the code provided on the TV be input on a tablet once we sign in there, only to force the same process repeatedly. We are just biding our time until we are closer to our November anniversary date. After reading what other reviewers have to say, I will cancel in September, so that Britbox customer service has two months to actually put through the cancellation. I agree with others that customer service has not been any help with permanently solving the problems with their service. The programming, for the most part, has not been worth it either. With all of the competition out there, you would think that they might fix their problems, but I guess they are just happy to take our money and wait for the next unsuspecting customers to come along.
Really disappointing. Hopeless if you need subtitles. Could not find one program which had them, and you have to click into each title to find out. Dreadfully designed app. Avoid.
Politically correct pathetic programming who are these idiots to censor British classics like ain't half hot mum and fools and horses, these half wits wont last two minutes, stay clear,
I have tried on smart TV also Bt box and a android box, but it is impossible to move cursor over to sign in box, this happens on all three devices so Britbox sign in page clearly has a issue, because of this I cancelled my free trial within two days.
WITHOUT PREDUDICE
So signed up to watch Doctor Who and other programs only to find they have been removed also noted not all full series are shown very little new content
False advertising?
Don't go there! Absolute garbage. Happy to take your money but can't deliver a service. Customer technical support wait is 24 hours. Can't solve problems. Look at ternatives.
The cancelation policy really sucks. It reminds me of Netflix in the beginning. Movies were terrible so I cancel but no money back out $76.00 dollars. Will never order again..
Signed up on beta version before going live
Issues around limited platforms and buffering but still continues to take subscription
On rolling out fully thought I'd see if they improve
Content more covered to younger market
Recently used my add on via EE, BritBox continued to take my subscription and they declined to resolve so basically took double the subscription
Recently when logging in BritBox takes me direct to resubscribe page when already subscribing
BritBox yet again failed to resolve and customer service have a habit of blaming others than themselves so I cancelled after having 2 months subscription out of me on leaving and no service
Extremely poor and BritBox has a very long way to improve
The programming is amazing. The app is terrible. Either doesn't come on or completely freezes. I have it for many years because of mystery shows, Brits are the best!
