I opened an account with Capital One and deposited a cashier's check from another bank. They locked up my account in an investigation for fraud for 4 months. During these months they told me they had no info for me and sent me to the investigation department to leave a message that would never be answered.
At the end of 4 full months, I was finally able to talk to someone which claimed they needed "verification of ownership of funds". I spoke to someone else who screamed at me and said he was reporting me to the police for a counterfeit check. At that point I went to the issuing bank of the cashiers check and had an officer verify directly to Capital One that the funds were released to them. 5 days later, my funds were still in investigation and I was told I would need to file a police report to subpoena my funds. I called the following day and a supervisor FINALLY agreed to release my funds. These people are the frauds.
Capital one bank took a second payment after telling me they didn't get the first payment even after I advised of a confirmation #. Now 2 weeks later they still won't give me my money back. On phone 4x lied to every time. Cancelling my account as soon as I get my $2697.01 back. Capital One is horrible and their customer service people are terrible. Megan after 1 hour getting nothing done told me to have a nice weekend... It was Monday at 6:36PM, Told me we are available 24/7 but no one was available to process my return credit.HUH? I asked for her supervisor, they dont take calls? E-Mail, don't have that information? "You have to look that up on your own"? Are they serious?
I purchased a pair of earrings from Edward Novell jewelry. They were $400. I never received them. They were on my capital one card. I tried to stop payment on them but capital one ended up paying the jewelry store. They do not care about their customers!
I've been using the P2P option since it was actually under ING Direct. The service seems even more seamless now that it's under Capital One. I was skeptical of the merger at first but I'm officially old!
My debit card was canceled due to a fraudulent charge on April 24th. The employee I spoke to that day did not double check my address nor did she expedite my card for 1 to 3 day delivery.Over 2 weeks later I am still waiting come to find out that they sent it to just a zip code no address.I cannot buy food take my animals to the vet get gas or do anything because the account is locked. Totally unacceptable for someone in charge of someone's financials to be that bad at their job
They charge a Cash Advance for using credit card for my car. I went into GTE to pay my car payment and they charge me 16.00. I paid my car and the 16.00. The worst company ever. I was trying to make payment for over $10k. Used a different bank account. Made a mistake. Had couple return payments, but then finally paid my balance in full after fixing my bank account. Mind these payments were not even due, I just made bunch of purchases and wanted to pay them off the same day. Few days I came to know that my account is closed due to multiple return payments. And they voided my $150k points that I was going to use to book my honeymoon trip! Called, asked if anything could be done and nothing! They just don't care about losing the customer. My AMEX would'vE never done this!
Called to get my card replaced, spent 45 min trying to get a half English speaking gentleman to understand me and to verify my identity before nothing would work. Then he transferred me to another guy passing on zero knowledge of the conversation who then pretended he couldn't hear me talking to him and hung up on me. In the end I wasted well over an hour of my life on the phone with them just to not get my card replaced. I closed my account with them over this. They have hands down the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life.
In the event of a billing dispute on your credit card bill, this is a company which will not support you. To have a a credit card issuer which will help you resolve it in the event of a dispute is an important consideration but one that people dont often consider. There are lots of alternative credit card issuers, I suggest you use another bank! Capital One is very bad!
Constantly having issues with them flagging me for fraud? I use my card and pay it off, I have had to verify my bank account is mine 4 times now. This time I called and the system was down so they couldn't even help me I have to try to find time to call again - just spent my lunch break failing today. There are people who I'm sure owe them money but they're coming for the ones paying what's due? Seems backwards to me. Sick of spending my time proving I am who I am and getting my bank involved in a 3 way call like I'm a child on an allowance. Rerouting my subscriptions then cancelling both my cards. Never had an issue with my secured but I barely use it due to no benefits so they'll be losing both my cards due to the inconvenience I've been through
Capital One is a company that lies and if you have more then 1 Fraud report to them, they say you don't have to pay for fraud but that's not true. I got over charged at a business and called capital one fraud team, and they told me to contact the merchant myself. $#*! you Capital One
When my credit score was 508, it was Capital One that took a chance on me and sent me a pre-approved credit card based on the fact that I had my pay directly deposited into my checking account. With the daily information that they provided me on my account and checking for other cards I was preapproved for---well let just say that after twelve months of due diligence and on-time payments, my credit score today is 715 across the board... in one year. The only complaint that I have against Capital One is they don't have a feedback email, or I would thank them that way.
My card was used by my daughter which bounced and three hours after I paid it off so she can use it. They canceled the card with no notice because of that. Wtf this company is terrible no notice no phone call email text nothing just canceled. Often over two years. Never again.
Just wanted to send a friendly review about my experience with capital one service. I suspected a couple fraud charges on my statement and contacted them on the issue and they were fantastic to deal with! Very much appreciated the excellent service they provided me and love dealing with the great staff I dealt with!
I completed a pre-approval form for a Capitol One Rewards card that was supposed to have a $95 annual fee; the process completed by saying I would be approved, but the details then showed the fee was $395. I went ahead and completed an application for the $95 fee card, but it then said I was denied... And I have an 835 credit score. They obviously tried to trick me into getting the higher fee card.
I opened a Capital one venture card. They sent it in the mail and I activated the card. When I tried to us it with a merchant they returned the card to me stating "Declined" Prior to the use of the card there were no emails, letters or text messages telling me they deactivated the card. When I called the customer service office, they said the fraud department wanted a driver's license picture social security card picture, utility bill with my name and address and three months of my entire checking account showing job deposits for income verification, but yet the card had already been given to me. They want to review how i spend my money that was why they asked for three months of checking records. They recorded my call but would not let me record at my end, knowing what they do to the public would probably trigger a lawsuit. They are plenty of other institutions that don't violate your person identity the way they did mine, consumer beware!
Use someone else.

There was a problem with a title on a vehicle, the DMV mailed capital one instead of me. They just needed to mail the documents back to the DMV. After half a dozen phone calls with no response from managers and unanswered emails to help center I'm actually having my auto loan picked up by another company. Miserable customer service. I can't even get them to understand the problem. And have caught them lying to me about recieving the documents.
Take your business elsewhere. Plenty of companies would have given me the same interest rate. They aren't worth the headaches if something goes wrong.
Been making on time payments every month sometimes over and above minimum payment and get credit raises it's a joke no room for advancement even a perfect acct with them they look at your credit report not your acct and say no to increase
Dropping credit lines for no reasons, locking unlimited card at about 2,500 unless I pay the balance... when my usual charge is few thousands... useless I've been with them for many years, used to be good. My problem is, I never carried balance...
Credit Score 810, they dropped one line from 18.5k to 10k, the other from 22.5k to 10k...
Now launching a bigger job, I have to combine different cards... ridiculous, will be opening other lines elsewhere. No use for this bs.
Credit One has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. In addition Capital one will state they send you information regarding your complaint when they never did. They lie regarding fraudulent transactions and will not assist you in the matter. Terrible terrible credit card company!
Answer: No really I can't I mean from the very beginning they said they mailed it and then a week later when I called and they had not mailed it yet when I checked my bank they take the money out of my bank and then tell me they're going to hold the money for 7 days to make sure the money is there I think they take the customers for granted in a big bad way
