I've been playing this since 2012 and have won many items. It's a great way to purchase items at a low cost.

I am one of the many idiots who got suckered into signing up for this site. Fact.

From approximately 11:30pm to 7:00am, I monitored the deals on the site, continued to bid on a DS3 and still left the site with $63 dollars of negative income, and no DS3. (Mommy is so sorry I failed you, bud!)... Fact.

DealDash claims they are positive you will win something on this site. Fiction.

To be honest with you, this site is for people who have a LOT of time on their hands and a LOT of cash to spare. I do not recommend signing up for this unless you are both of the above. The deals are sweet, definitely; but think of all the time and effort (and yes! MONEY) it takes to "save" money on a deal (which really isn't a deal, because when you think about it: the cheapest thing they have on the site is a 10 dollar gift card... the minimum amount of bids you can buy is $34... getting the picture now?

Also, even if you buy $34 dollars worth of bids, the chances of you winning a nice TV (like those they post of Facebook with the nice old lady who genuinely seems happy) well - it's slim and none... That old lady probably spent her entire retirement money on this thing. The bidding is addicting, but it burns a hole in your pocket faster than you can say "DealDash".

I'm sure they make a ton of money on this site. Honestly, I wish I thought of it first. Bravo!

In conclusion - save your money. If you like the thrill of the hunt of a great bargain, do what the rest of the people do and go shopping on Black Friday. There's no fee for that!

Me? I'm going to hang my head in shame...

Not worth it at all. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I purchased my first bid pack and i won a $10 gift card with one bid. Ok, thats great, 16 cents for a $10 gift card. Then a few more small items that supposedly no one was bidding on, which i honestly believe they were just there because i was a beginner, and if i have luck with a few purchases, then I'll keep bidding. The auctions are supposedly fair because there are items that are one-per-user. I tried winning a kitchenaid stand mixer several times, I've spent about 400 or so bids trying to win one when i noticed i was bidding against someone who had already won one. It was a different color, and different model, but they're both kitchen aid stand mixers so its clear some people are bidding to sell items won which makes it unfair for the rest of us.
Also, after an auction reaches $5, no new bidders are allowed, but if you placed even just one bid in the very beginning, you basically have your foot in the door for the rest of the auction. I was up all night trying to win the kitchenaid stand mixer and then out of nowhere people who had not been bidding were able to place bids because they had placed in the beginning.
I would recommend Quibids instead. It is much better and more fair. In quibids, once an auction has been going on for a while, it is locked and only recent bidders can continue bidding. I just wasted $75 for nothing and all i got was a $10 gift card. You're better off just buying things on amazon.
This brings me to another issue. On dealdash, you get your bids back if you buy the item at full retail price, but items are rarely sold at retail price. On Quibids, the money you spent on the bids placed goes towards the buy now price, so you don't have to make another large purchase, you can just pay the difference.

UPDATE: Thank you, Dave, I just saw the credit on my card statement. I did give DealDash another try, but I have not had any luck. I do appreciate your customer service, thank you so much.

Tip for consumers:
Just don't do it.

Really sorry to hear you did not like your shopping experience Kilcia. We see you won a $10 gift card to Amazon, two different Hasbro games and a 17pc Craftsman screwdriver set. The reason we offer the buy it now to get your desired item and bids back is to offer you a better experience and it also allows you to play again without having to buy more bids. Furthermore, I wanted to let you know we've refunded your $75 payment in full. We hope you'll give us a second chance and please email us with any questions. Sincerely, Dave

I JUST HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO BID ON THE AUCTIONS. I KEEP DOING LIKE I DID ON EBAY. WHEN SOMEONE OUT BIDS ME I JUST SPEND EVERY BID I GOT ON THE AUCTION I AM PLAYING. WITCH IS STUPID ON MY PART I HAVE WON A FEW GOOD THINGS. BUT I HAVE TO STOP PLAYING THIS SITE. I HAVE ALMOST MAXED MY CREDIT CARD BUYING BIDS.AND THEN BIDING ON THINGS WHERE THERE IS ONLY A FEW PEOPLE BIDDING. BUT WHEN THEY OUT BID ME I GET MAD AND BLOW ALL MY BIDS. I WOULD DO THE SAME THING AT THE CASINO. I WOULD WIN A COUPLE HUNDREN DOLLARS AS SOON AS I WALK IN THE DOOR. BUT I WOULD NOT LEAVE TO GO HOME. I WOULD LOSE THE MONEY I0 WON0 AND $500 TO $1000 MORE. STUPID I KNOW! BUT THERE WAS FIVE TO TEN TIMES I WOULD LEAVE THE CASINO WITH THE $1000 I COME WITH AND $3000 TO $7000 MORE. I JUST HAD TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY THE MACHINES AND NOW I HAVE TO DO THE SAME WITH THESE GAMES. I THINK THIS IS A GREAT SITE. THANK YOU FOR HAVING IT

The site is good if you are smart... You have to beware of a handful of bidders the only bid on large items and go all out. It seems crazy that people bid over the cost of an item But there are a few factors you need to be aware of... if you win a 600 bid pack for $30 that = 30/600 = $. 05 a bid and at that price you can afford to bid high. The thing i do not like is the limit you can win in a month ( i reached it 2 times already) and you have to wait until your start day (15th) for the limit to be reset, with high prices of a lot of items it is easy to reach the limit IF you win large items ( example apple computer is 1100 to 1700) that is 1/3 to 1/2 of your monthly limit. They need to rethink that limit over again. They need to a block on bidding after a certian $ amount is reached to stop all the last minute bidders from comming in and stealing the item that are bidding on and losing all you time and money for that item. I think like after the auction reaches $10, no more bidders are amitted and the current bidders can play out the auction fairly..

If you're persistent and learn the tricks of the trade, you can score some decent deals but this does take a lot of time and mental energy. Their prices for electronics at the "Buy it Now" price are exorbitant but that is probably the real retail price (which no store really sells items at). The cost per bid is 60 cents but in my time on the site, I've only seen them ACTUALLY sold at 60 cents once a week at most so it's better to wait for one of their deals.

Also, their shipping could be faster. They make a ton of money off these auctions (even being generous with saying its 16 cents a bid which is the usual sale price, they make $100+ bucks off an item they sell for $10 that was maybe worth $25) so they could certainly afford two day shipping.

Customer service was nice but they really need to do something about the issue of having multiple users play an auction at the same time in an effort to help each other out (push other legitimate bidders out by creating an illusion of 5 bidders when really it's just 1 and a couple of his friends or one person on a couple of devices). This is called "team play" and explicitly against the DealDash rules but TONS of users do it to the point that the bigger auctions especially are almost completely rigged. I don't believe this is a scam by the company but they should really log ips to prevent the problem before it starts.

They are much more afforable and win-able than QuiBids but I wish they would occasionally implement a multi-choice auction like QuiBids so that you can choose between a laptop, camera or tv for example. They also need to have more auctions going live simultaneously. There's usually only one auction going live every five minutes so with the No Jumper feature (which is nice but needs to be reduced from 500 bids to 300 like they do on their Black Friday deals) you may log on and only have an option of seven or eight auctions.

Overall, not a bad penny auction site though.

Tip for consumers:
Only bid on things you are willing to buy at full price and do that when necessary so you can get your bids back. ALWAYS factor in your bids into the final sale price of any auction you've won or are trying to win (e.g. if you put 100 bids on a $10 gift card and bids are 16 cents each, you're really paying $16 PLUS whatever price you won the auction at).

I understand the business model of DealDash - they are fairly upfront about it, but...

I did spend several weeks watching and observing "winning strategies", but there are hoards of professional bidders on the site who win the vast majority of the auctions.

I have found many items purchased on DealDash being resold, which is against the terms and conditions, but it happens anyway.

The value / prices quoted for items are very inflated - you can buy many of the items for much less than stated.

They have several unique-to-Deal-Dash items - if you try to find them via internet search engines to research the value / price, you will find web pages which say the value is what Deal Dash is quoting, but I suspect the pages are put up by Deal Dash. Examples include the Schultz Massage Chairs and the designer furniture. The Massage Chair lists a value of $14,500 (!), but no one would ever PAY that for a brand/chair that can't be evaluated or purchased through any other outlet. The decorative items - clocks, etc - the quality is NOT GOOD. I actually won an auction for a clock, which arrived damaged. I contacted customer service who responded to me after EIGHT DAYS. I was asked me to send pictures. I did. Then I was sent an email with a return label and it all had to be in original packaging (save your boxes!), then it had to be returned before a new clock would be shipped out. I finally got the clock and the face was installed slightly crooked and frankly it is cheaply made. This for a clock where the value was portrayed as $575! How about the Japanese knives for $1500?

Bids are always discounted now - one day 15 cents, the next day 14, the next 13 then 12 cents... a fairly repeatable pattern. Even with discounted bids, the wins are so infrequent that it just isn't worth my time or effort.

Summary: expensive "infotainment" where you *might* get something of value from time to time if the professional bidders slip up.

Update: yes deal dash will refund your PURCHASE PRICE if you are not happy with product... BUT they do NOT refund your bid costs!

Hi Melissa. Thanks for getting in touch. I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Firstly, I would like to let you know that re-selling items purchased on DealDash is strictly against our terms and conditions. We have a dedicated Compliance team in charge of monitoring the listings and removing the items purchased on DealDash from sites such as Amazon or Ebay. If you ever come across an item that you think is being re-sold, please notify us so we can have it removed right away, we'd really appreciate your help with that.

I am very sorry to hear that you were not happy with the quality of the clock. If you're not happy with the quality of an item, DealDash will refund your money and bids after you return it.

If you wish to return the clock, please send an email to my personal address: adrian@dealdash.com

I look forward to assisting you and helping you find a solution, since your satisfaction is extremely important to us.

Best,

Adrian

Hi Kim,

Thank you for your candid and honest feedback.

I am truly sorry for any frustration you’ve felt in our auctions. I will make sure this feedback gets shared with everyone at DealDash during discussions about how we can continue to improve.

We do have some bidders that have been with us for a while and others that are more active. As you know, we introduced a limit of 50 auctions wins per week, after which we saw the number of unique auction winners increase by ~30%. We’re also adding more One Per User auctions based on customer feedback like yours! Recently too, as you may also have seen, we held a promotion called “Every BidBuddy Counts!”. For this promotion, all BidBuddy bids added 9 seconds (+ multiplier) of Time as Highest Bidder each time a BidBuddy bid was placed.

Our pursuit to improve never stops! If you have any further ideas on how we could make the auctions on DealDash more fun and exciting for everyone our Customer Support Team is available 24/7 to help out and collect your feedback!

Sitejabber for Business

Gain trust and grow your business with customer reviews.

From the business

Bid on auctions and save. All auctions start at $0 with no minimum price reserve. Everything must go! DealDash is the fair and honest bidding site. Founded in 2009, millions of bidders have enjoyed Deal Dash auctions since.

Business History

Established in 2009, DealDash is the longest operating site of its kind in the United States. Before DealDash was founded, millions of Americans tried out 1st generation bidding fee auctions. These first generation auctions left many people with a poor experience.

After one such letdown experience, spending $50 on a pay-to-participate auction site with nothing to show for it, our founder decided to create a fair and honest alternative to bidding fee auctions, where losing bidders don’t have to lose the money they spent bidding. That is how Deal Dash was born in 2009. Today, over 1,000 brand named products are discovered and won by customers every day!

Bid in our online auctions to catch a deal and if you don't win the auction, you can buy it now and keep on bidding!
