I don't usually need customer service with Blick. The one time I did, they contacted me before I contacted them! This customer care team works very hard to quickly and efficiently correct an issue and they are pleasant while doing it. Really a treat in today's world of mediocrity.
This company is beyond real, I order 2 items that listed available, and I had a big order and mostly were gifts for Xmas and I was traveling so dates are imp. They ship all the items except for 2 And they fail to mention that these 2 items were on back order. I receive an email a week later saying sorry these items didn't ship. I complain, they said they made a mistake Ans didn't update their system, buy dont worry we will ship one of the items soon. Today they shipped it and charged me 15.75 $ shipping for one tube of paint that fosted 14$?! And I had free shipping with the initial order, so noni got screwed with it. I have been using this shop for a long time, but this was beyond anything I experienced with an open shop! Ill never be using their shop again! Be aware
I have used Blick for years, probably spent $1000. Today, I attempted to add an item to my order and the representative was rude and unhelpful. I am done with Blick. Edit: 9/26/17 I would have felt a lot better if anyone from Blick bothered to ask me what happened. Instead, they just posted a canned "sorry, not sorry" response. Jerry's Artarama has better deals and treated me a lot better.
Qualified staff answer phone order requests in a very professional and knowledgeable manner. Abbey knows her way around art supplies. She offered experienced advice and efficiently fulfilled my order -- all over the phone! She did not press or upsell me, but I purchased more because of her shared knowledge.
We are very pleased with this easy new shopping experience. BRAVO!
Ordered some specific brushes for a film production - we order most of our products, goods, trims, fabrics etc online from all over the world so we are used to shipping, ordering etc. We even provided our FEDEX number to the company. None of that seems to matter... This has been the most ridiculously slow process I have ever seen. Timeline: Ordered some brushes May 16, and probably won't see them until June 03. If all of our vendors conducted their business like the DickBlick company does theirs, we would never get to camera on time. Holy cow bad customer service!
I was incredibly shocked to read so many bad reviews written about Blick Art! I have ordered numerous times and have received my orders quickly and perfectly. I make my own cards and eventually, I want to scrapbook. The blank cards sold are incredible-beautifully heavy paper of many kinds, from watercolor paper to hemp, bamboo, multimedia. Strathmore card paper is one of my all-time favorites. They sell EVERYTHING I need-a huge variety of pens, pencils, markers, adhesives, craft products. The site is easy to handle. If you are someone like me, who makes cards (but I don't paint), order from dickblick.com. I have always been more than satisfied!

Blick made ut easy to find what needed anto place an order. Good follow up past ordering and tracking. The items came when promised and arrived in good shape. Hard to beat all of that and the art supplies priced below what we paid elsewhere.

After going to couple of big stores for canvas frames, I decided to give dickblick a chance. Really good prices, fraction of the cost other stores have to offer! I love the the frames. Collection is a bit limited, but lots of sizes!

I placed an order in December which never arrived. When I emailed to ask what the status of my order was I received notice that the order had been cancelled. I called in immediately and moved up three levels to get this sorted. I had done my due diligence in calling in the order and changing my email address on record. Somehow that info didn't get saved. I needed the order to be sent immediately because I was teaching. It took about 25 minutes for the whole situation to be sorted. I was willing and happy to pay my portion of the shipping (about 25$) but asked them to pay the rest of the Fedex fee (about 50$ for them) to have the order here quickly. A supervisor called Tray (hope I spelt that right) was super helpful and they took responsibility for their company mistake. I received the order very quickly. Thank you for your help and I will be ordering from DickBlick again in the future.

No other store has as much as they have. Almost all pencils, markers, paint, watercolor, paper, clay, canvas, yeso, frames, spray paint, books, art gifts and curious stuff like eraser eggs that look like actual erasers, art puzzles, notebooks, stationary stuff, art stuff for kids. Its the most complete I have ever seen. If you like art you will love this store.

I was worried about the negative reviews that I found after placing an order and it's true that the order (two orders to be exact as one was created with wrong billing address) was just hanging there with the "Held" status for two days.
I called the international customer service number and to be honest I haven't ever waited this short for the customer service to pick up the phone. Everything went quckly and smoothly, wrong order was cancelled, other order was confirmed, the same day my card was charged with the right amount and goods were shipped. Received them 6 days later.

I think that DickBlick offers reasonable pricing on art materials and popular brands of materials like graphite crayons, lithography crayons, easels, markers, oil paints, etc. Have yet to find a vendor that is a match who delivers quality on par with Blick's and their mid-range pricing at the same time. Bottom line, I think they are OK and would be a repeat customer of theirs, but I would keep an eye out for other art vendors and bargains for the same materials, supplies, and otehr things that Blick offers at Amazon.com and search Google to see if I find the item elsewhere for an equally good or superior price before shopping here.

Ordered three oil brushes from blick web page on the 16th of February... they were shipped from Illinois and are expected to arrive here on the 27... 11 days to go from Illinois to California... what slow service hard to justify using Dick Blick to purchase art supplies when you can go to Amazon or others and get far better service... really disappointed...
I received my order and was missing one item despite it being on the packing list, but my email to customer service was replied to in a timely manner and they are sending me my final item now! I was happy with the products I did receive.

On Dec. 11th, my son ordered art supplies to complete a Christmas project. We got word today (Dec. 14) that the order had shipped with delivery slated for Dec. 24th from FedEx! WTH? We paid $10 for shipping and it takes 2 weeks to get this? Won't be ordering from this company again.

I have been ordering from Blick for a few years. When they made a mistake in my order they quickly showed their true colors as a company. Their "customer care" deptartment is nonexistent, unhelpful, and actually rude. So, the result is losing a customer, poor reviews, and spreading their poor business practice across the artist community by word of mouth. Very unfortunate that they made the choice to treat their cutomers in this manner when we have so many other online stores to choose from.

Ordered a few times in the past from Blick's and had only one issue of damaged watercolor paper. Probably from the carrier. Now the last two orders have been a disaster. Wrong product sent, (Watercolor paper that is the wrong weight), and dirty, greasy fingerprints all over it. A replacement was sent and the exact same issues. Wrong weight paper and marked with fingerprints. This tells me the same idiot probably repacked the order and never took the time to 1. Made sure their hands were clean, and 2. Made sure the right weight paper was selected to ship. Not acceptable. Will be doing business with other art suppliers from now on.
I always really liked this company until I found they were using spyware on their web site. This means that items you look at show up as ads on other sites, and is very creepy. According to their own web site:

I have ordered several times at Dickblick.com during the Covid-19 Pandemic. I received my purchases before the actual shipping date. I received all items. They did not price Gouge as other major art stores did during the pandemic. I highly recommend this Company for your art supplies. They do have competing prices compared to other suppliers. I have an 8 year history of frequent orders with DickBlick. Best service, huge inventory and BY FAR the best prices. Most Canadian art stores are so bad that I have no choice but to order from DickBlick. And I pay the 100$ Fed Ex happily because it is still way cheaper than doing a Canadian order. For example, the awful Prismacolor Premier pencil sets cost 3 times more almost everywhere else. Frankly, there is no close second and I would be stunned to hear of professional artists ordering from anyone else.

I am not satisfied dickblick.com products. Before one week I purchased some paint from this site for glass painting. But I got the old stock paint so I cannot paint on the glass and the paint is not fixing in to the glass. I checked the expiry date but they did not mention the expiry date on the bottle. After the checking I tried to call many times but they did not give good response.
They ship the slowest possible method, despite charging for shipping. Their shipping page makes you think it will ship FedEx Ground, which is absolutely not the same as SmartPost. You will wait an extra week and Usps will probably misplace your package for a month.
Went to get my school kit and they said they were sold out but they had all the individual items. I said OK but can I still get the student kit price just without it all taped together and they said no. Whats the difference? Why wouldn't you provide good customer service and honor the price I had on my class coupon? Wont be going here anymore.
Having had several years experience ordering from Blick, I can give them a solid 5 stars. Always willing to help, accepts and /or replaces items as appropriate. And helpful & polite on the phone. (This is a 2 way street). Store employees are similarly friendly and helpful.(Tampa Store). During covid they are wiping down frequently touched surfaces at 2hour intervals. Prices are usually excellent so I check their website before anyplace else. I AM a Blick preferred customer and recommend it for savings at brick and mortar locations.

You selected FedEx@home for delivery which can be a quicker delivery method however it is not an expedited service and processing of these orders may still take up to two business days. While there may have been a slight delay while we made the security check, your order was still processed on time and the tracking indicates the order was delivered on 11/12/14, a day ahead of schedule. I like DickBlick. Inexpensive prices with a variety of good items. I don't like the price to ship or the length of shipping, however. I also like that they sell individual colors of Prismacolor colored pencils.
