“Yellow holiday cactii great starter plant and new modern packaging came in good shape even with our”

Robert G.
4/23/20

3 beautiful starter cactus plants with 4 to 5 stalks in soil that has already started to divide at top of the hard to find Yellow color cactii blooms. New modern day packaging in heavy duty green plastic bag with each cactii in their own celluloid preformed envelope that kept pot firmly in place, lightweight, and no paper to unpack. Completely happy - I did not expect blooming size, but will bloom nicely this holiday season. Like the bonus bulbs. Saw so many bad reviews, but completely satisfied here.

“Don't buy here”

Terrible retailer. Their stock was crap, packaged poorly and had to be replaced. And their customer service is worse. They may have cheap prices, but you get what you pay for. If looking here - stay away!

All six gerbera daisies had well developed roots... reaching out of their 2.5 inch pots. But, the leaves were yellow, showing they had been shipped the slowest way possible. I have thrown away two as they were beyond help. I am a sucker... so am trying to nurse the others back to health.
Went to Home Depot and hot HUGE, Healthy, Vigorous plants for $9.00 each!

Will NEVER shop at Direct Gardening again!

I ordered multiple items and the delivery instructions said to deliver to the rental office. I went on vacation for a week and came home to my order on the porch with Texas fried plants
I sent them pictures of all the plants in and out of the packaging but you have to send them back the shipping label. By the time they responded I had thrown it away.
This used to be a great company. V

Reviews sum up experience quite well. Nice web site, professional appearance, but ZERO customer service. Phone number is a constant busy tone / signal. Email inquiry just returns an automated ("expect shipping delays") response. I can't comment on product as I have not seen any yet (placed order 6 weeks ago). They blame shipping delays on COVID19, but other sellers have no problems delivering within a 6 week window (should be plenty of time, even with COVID19). They seem to be consistently horrible in meeting customer expectations. I'm going to dispute charge on my credit card and see what happens.

I will only ever use Stark brothers or gurney's from now on. I normally use one of them but wanted to try this nursery. Notice how this place doesn't have customer reviews on their site? I didn't. That's very telling. The shipping time frame is fine, still waiting for stuff from other nursery I ordered from at same time. What I don't like is not being informed of substitutions without offering refund prior to shipping. I'm pretty sure this is like a bait and switch kinda op... I'm angry as hell and from other's comments here I'm thinking I won't ever have this resolved. Also, why the handwritten checks on the packing slip like items were checked to actually be in the package? (see pic) Nice touch. Oh, and they forgot to ship one item entirely. Use legit places that offer reviews on site and proper communication unlike these dirtbags.

I am landscaping a new property. Saw Creeping Thyme (Walk on Me Plant) advertized and ordered - paid $44 with shipping.
Plants came saying they were dormant. How about dead! There were supposed to be 5 to each little bag. All tangled up. Had to tear them apart. No evidence any have or will grow. Paid $44 with shipping. Supposed to be 60 plants. More like 60 shrivelled roots.
A real rip-off.
Bought 2 trays (6 pack) at Lowes for $12 each. As suggested, cut them up into smaller plantings so was able to plant the whole area again. Healthy plants. My bad for not staying local!

I waited 8 weeks for them to ship me garbage. Of 5 items, 1 did not ship at all, 2 were substituted to different bulbs (out of season in June), 2 arrived in poor condition because they used the slowest postage option available. DirectGaradening.com keeps refusing to issue a refund until I pay return shipping on the goods I didn't order. Hoping BBB and credit card complaint get my refund.

Can get a refund if I ship it at my expense back to them. I will never order here again, BTW check out address before you order company has many different names but same address.

On April 21, ordered 3 plants and was advised to allow 2 to 3 weeks for processing.
On May 16 - 3 1/2 weeks later, requested a cancellation or confirmation of shipment.
On May 18, Direct Gardening said they would do their best to cancel the order, but could not if it was already in shipping.
On May 28 - 10 days later, requested cancellation again due to the plants not being received.
On May 29, Direct Gardening said my cancellation was being processed.
Today, June 4, a credit still has not been issued. Of course, this would be a non-issue if Direct Gardening only charged your credit card at the time of shipping.
Lesson learned - read the online vendor reviews.

I placed my order for phlox collection in middle of April. After 5 weeks of waiting I tried to contact them via email - no luck. My multiple asking for cancelation has been ignored and my cc has been charged anyway, over a month after order. When it finally shipped, it took a week to arrive and I live in the same state as they. My order was sent in green garbage bag, with nothing to secure. Photo shows how phlox collection looks according to Direct Gardening. Dry, tangled and mangled roots. Not dormant, just dead. I filled complaint with BBB, because scammers like them has to be put out of business.

If you don't mind waiting many weeks, receiving plants in crushed containers thrown into an oversized plastic bag with no packaging, most leaves off if succulents, then buy from this company. They sent plants out by Fed Ex do not mark pkge. Live Plants, so your order takes a scenic tour through many states, sits on the ground until it finally arrives at your home with completely bashed it plastic containers, half of the dirt out of the pots, along with most of the leaves missing & they expect you to pay for returning the plants in order to get a refund. My suggestion is that whoever wants to buy plant from this place, you might as well just put the money in the toilet. It is a completely waste of money. I received the plants (dry branches) by FedEx in a bag which were already dry. I was shocked went I saw that "trash".

I ordered on April 26th, they've already got my money. Here it is, middle of June - and nothing! No response to emails. I wish I had researched them before making a donation, which is basically what it is at this point because it's looking like I'll never receive my order.

DO NOT purchase anything from these people. Their products are crap and they really don't care if you are unhappy about anything. They just say this is our return policy so send them back if you aren't happy. It took 2-3 months to get my order and 3 of the plants I ordered were bare roots in a little bit of soil and paid $6.99 for them. The others were 1" - 3" of which I paid $9.99 for. TERRIBLE

I should have read the reviews before I purchased my seed from Direct Gardening. That mistake is on me. I am a retired President and CEO of a hospital foundation and know good business practices. I order some potato seed from Direct Gardening and when the package showed up the 4 bags of potato seed were rotten. I called their customer service and asked for a refund or a replacement and sent the photographs of the rotten seed. The lady told me to plant the seed and if they didn't grown in 90 days call back. I emailed on their site again images of the bags of rotten seed, I said if you do not believe me send a pick up order and I would ship all four bags back. They stated if i wanted to ship back I had to endure the expense of shipping their rotten seed back. I am not one for putting good money after bad. No future business here!

It took 3 months to get my order. I'm in Texas, so we need to plant early, that didn't happen.
I got about 50% yield from what they sent me. After a bitter complaint, they sent me another delivery gratis, with the added present of a highly poisonous plant... to dogs, cats, children & humans. Oddly, THAT PLANT, arrived in pristine condition... hmmmmm. My neighbor planted it in a place no one can get hurt by it.
Just don't use them.

I spent almost 100 dollars almost 2 months ago. For what is supposed to be plants. Broken sticks that are dead is more like it. The rose bush is almost completely dead. I wish there was a way to submit photos. I did call a couple weeks back they said the delay was because my black elephant ears hadn't reached them. So obviously it's not a nursery. I won't make this mistake again..

Many negative stars would be a better rating! This is the biggest scam going! Back in the beginning of April, looking for plants online during this crazy "shelter in place" reality, I placed a rather large order with this company. The original "wait time" information posted seemed reasonable. But, as many weeks went by and none of my emails were answered, I began to think that I had been scammed. Finally, in early June, after my email stating this, I received an email that my order was in " in processing". Frankly, by that time, I had found another vendor and planted my garden areas.

The Direct Gardening plants began arriving in late June. Sent through UPS land in plastic mailing bags full of dead plants in small pots. Not dormant but dried, snap-twig dead plants. I cut back to see if I could salvage anything but these were gone.

I have emailed the company, but, based on reviews on other sites, I don't anticipate any refunds/actions on their part.

Ordered plants on April 29th. Still not here on June 9th. If they ship now they will probably all be dead when they get here because of the heat. Sent multiple emails. 3 weeks ago they told me they were processing the order and shipping it. Phone always busy so you can't talk to anyone. The one star is only because they do have some cool plants, you just can't get them. No customer service.

I ordered 5 trees with a cost totaling $91.95. When the trees arrived 4 out of 5 appeared to be dead. The instructions said that even if the trees appeared to be dead go ahead and plant them and be patient. They will come alive eventually. I went ahead and planted all 5 trees in a large 6 foot diameter hole dug at least 2 feet deep, mixed in a generous amount of soil additives and put mulch on top. The trees were watered on a regular basis. Well 4 of the 5 trees remained dead months after the planting. When I asked for replacements, they said I needed to mail them (via snail mail) the original packing slip that came with the shipment. Even though I provided a PDF copy of my order acknowledgment, they refuse to do anything. Obviously, they set those rules up to thwart anyone wanting replacements because most people throw away the packing slips when the shipment arrives. Many of the other items we ordered on the same order are also doing very poorly. This company is horrible! Stay AWAY!

Ordered a variety of plants. Had questions and only got some 'non' answers. Cancelled the order on March 27th and got a reply that the cancellation was 'under review'. What review?
Then on May 10, (6 weeks after cancelling) I got a message that my order had shipped!
Customer service finally answered, basically telling us to sent it back on our cost, with very little, if any chance of getting our money back. There are a lot of better places to lose your money than this place.

Tip for consumers:
Simply buy your plants anywhere but with them. You will be disappointed

Plants for garden. Cancelled the order and they acknowledged the cancellation, but then six weeks later they shipped it anyway. Charged the credit card and they tell us to ship it back at our expense, while a refund is unlikely going by our experience so far.

I bought strawberries, blackberries and lavender from this place and all I got for my money was 3 dead sticks for my blackberries even after preparing them with the instructions they sent, never even got a leaf. Planted the strawberries like they said, not one out of 6 even got any sign of life, same with the lavender. I had to wait til the middle of spring before I even got the so called plants. So I missed out on getting any of these fruits this planting season. If your smart you will NOT EVER BUY from this company. I wasted almost 40.00 for nothing but stress and disappointment. I only gave it a 1 star and to me that's to much.
