3 beautiful starter cactus plants with 4 to 5 stalks in soil that has already started to divide at top of the hard to find Yellow color cactii blooms. New modern day packaging in heavy duty green plastic bag with each cactii in their own celluloid preformed envelope that kept pot firmly in place, lightweight, and no paper to unpack. Completely happy - I did not expect blooming size, but will bloom nicely this holiday season. Like the bonus bulbs. Saw so many bad reviews, but completely satisfied here.
Terrible retailer. Their stock was crap, packaged poorly and had to be replaced. And their customer service is worse. They may have cheap prices, but you get what you pay for. If looking here - stay away!
Was going to order some plants from here but after reading the reviews I changed my mind. Will go to a local nursery near me and buy my plants from there.
I put in an order 6 weeks ago, I tried to cancel the order a few days later and their answer was can't cancel the order because is on shipping department, they took the money from my account, and 6 weeks later still waiting for my order I will never buy from them again, and I will tell everyone i know to never order from this site, hopefully I didn't lose my money, customer service is practically none, worst ever, I don't even know if it's a scam
I would never buy from them again all plants were rotten and dead took tem four months to get to us and the poatoes starts were rotted could not plant
I understand things are slower during pandemic but 4 weeks and my order has not shipped! They said 3-4 weeks for delivery at the time I ordered and I paid for shipping! Never again.
It was the worst experience ever. I received dead plants. Customer service is horrible. People don't buy anything here, you never get your money back.
I ordered 10 Pampas Grass plants in August 2022. None of the plants survived and Direct Gardening refused a refund of my money. I suggest you shop a different website for your plants.
Tip for consumers:
Buy your plants on a different website

I planted all ten plants, none survived
They send dead twigs and when the dead twig does not bloom, they replace it with another dead twig. I ordered 2 Hydrangea trees, not even one of them had a little hint of green color.
I ordered 2 bushes took 6 weeks to get my order, of course its COVID. They arrived dead, no one answers the phone no one answers emails, $90 and I want a refund. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE OR ANY OF THEY AFFILIATES.
Good for Directgardening that you HAVE to select one star! They deserve ZERO stars!
I placed my order April 16th! They arrived June 17th. Please see the pictures one is the picture of what I expected and the other is the picture of what I actually received. I patiently waited as the site suggested... and this is what I got! Sadly, I didn't find THIS site until after I ordered or I NEVER WOULD HAVE ORDERED FROM THESE PEOPLE. I have no problem with "mom and pop" sites, they tend to be slower, but have EXCELLENT value... not so with this site.
Long story short... NEVER ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE.
Check out Etsy.com instead... you'll be amazed at what they offer.
Asked to cancel and got dead plants a month later with no response from company. Sent 30 emails and no response do not buy from them steal money and dont care beware
I ordered a cocktail tree 2-3 feet. But I got a 3 ft stick with roots in a bag with no soil. And it took over a month to get it. I would not recommend this company.
I found a good deal on a blueberry plant I wanted from Direct Gardening. But when I went to order it, I discovered a $9.99 shipping and handling fee which made it not worth it for me.
This is the worst gardening company I have ever used. I ordered potatoes and, after a very long wait, they arrived moldy and rotten. Customer service is terrible.
The picture below is the potato seeds they sent me they were moldy slimy and smelly. And they want me to pay to send the shipping label back to get refund. I will never do business with them again.
Tip for consumers:
Don't order from Direct Gardening
I bought 36 Lupines last year and - as of May 8 - they hadn't started coming up yet. I emailed asking if they should be sprouting yet. I received a reply saying if I was unsatisfied I could get replacements if I had a original packing paperwork. I didn't ask to return them and they didn't answer my question. I replied reiterating my question and asked - if I eventually decided to get replacements would the had email order confirmation be sufficient? They responded and again did not answer my original question. While they offered to send replacements they did so in manner that was unfriendly and onerous, and included me to print out my credit card statement showing the charge and sending it via postal mail. The only reason I can see for this - rather than simply sending a scan via email - was to make the process as inconvenient as possible to discourage customers from following through. Additionally it came off as self serving and unfriendly. Why would a company treat its customers so carelessly if they really cared about them? Is there such widespread abuse and corruption among gardeners? There are many companies competing for my business and I will take my business elsewhere.
I am going to take part of the blame for ordering from Direct Gardening because I didn't look up their reviews BEFORE placing an order. Now that I have received, AND returned (at my expense) my joke of an order from them; I have now realized they have horrible reviews and I KNOW first hand why! My 49 plants (not seeds but plants) were shipped in a plastic bag inside the plastic bag were more plastic bags with roots---no soil, no preserving gels just roots in a plastic bag. I immediately contacted customer service asking for a return label only to find out they don't issue return labels... so if you want your refund you have to pay for the return. So shame on me for not doing my research but hopefully this review will help someone not to make the same mistake I did. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING ON LINE. FYI BBB rating is D+.
Tip for consumers:
They have a D+ BBB rating (run away)
I order 2 different times and am still waiting. I ordered in April and it's now June with no plants. I have phoned( phone is constantly busy) and e mailed with no response
I placed an order 4/18 received an email 5/17 it had been shipped (no shipping info tracking # nothing) so when nothing showed up I emailed them 5/30 only to receive a very short BS response I emailed several more times never getting an answer to my question I did finally get tracking# but said it was undeliverable!? And was sent back! They forced a physical address when I placed the order and I have a po box yet they said it was sent to post office... then wanted me to pay more for them to send it back when I refused and said I wanted them to refund my account they refused said it was past time for a refund so I just got screwed out of 150.00$! TOTAL SCAMMERS DONT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!
Scam company.
Rediculous. I hope you see these reviews before you waste money and get cheated by this company.
Wouldnt let me choose no stars... which is what they should get.
I rate this place a negative 100.
I placed an order for plants in March and here we are at the end of May and still no plants and they are took the money back in March
I ordered a total of 30 Gaillardia Arizona Sun drawf plants in two different orders
What did a I get...
1]3 Apricots in stead of Arizona Sun
2] two non drawf or full size
3] three have never bloomed
4]Five have died
5]the rest got a fungus disease
Considering Gaillardia's don't but them here
Very disappointed
Don't waste your time on this rip-off! I got my plants after waiting a month--2 bushes and 3 flowering plants. Don't believe the dormant bunk. They have not grown at all in the recommended 6 week waiting period, and when I tried to get a refund they reported they would only replace and NOT refund because contrary to the grow instructions and recommendation, a refund must be requested within 14 days of original purchase.
Now get this... replacements--additionally received "dormant" plants that don't thrive STILL only have until the 1 year date of the ORIGINAL payment. Why would anyone with a modecum of intelligence believe that any replacement plant would be any more viable than the original that never grew? I couldn't speak with a supervisor and I would advise EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM!
Had great luck with this company. I ordered, then saw reviews, and was skeptical. I considered cancelling, but decided to take the $50 gamble. I'm glad I did. I potted the plants immediately after they arrived Out of about 12 plants, one arrived with dry roots. I thought I'd lose it. But it is doing well along with all the other plants. The order did take awhile. But since they are bare root better to plant in the fall anyways. Not sure if they ship based on best planting times.
Maybe not everyone understands that a bare root plant, that didn't get light for a week or so, does not arrive looking good. After potting them, I slowly acclimated them to light. After potting I put them all in the shade. After a couple of days I placed them in part shade. Then eventually placed them in the correct light requirement for the type of plant it is.
I ordered from Direct Gardening again hoping for the same results.
I debated on giving a 4 or a 5 as a rating. The 4 would be for one plant arriving with dry roots. The 5 would be for the good prices this company offers. So I'll settle for a 4.5 rating.
4/13/2017 I order 4 citrus trees Ship tree in BAG LIVE TREES NOT BOX you do not SHIP live trees in a BAG TRASH the trees All JUNK HAD TRASH ALL trees REP OFF DO NOT BUY FROM direct gardening REP YOU OFF
I ordered 24 Indian Current Coralberries, 2 Pink flowering almonds, and 24 burning bush from Direct Gardening. I soaked the roots in water and planted all of these as directed in July of 2017. I watered all of these plants every other day. I waited until May of 2018 to see any sign of life. I sent a registered letter to Direct Gardening on May 9th, 2018, first delivery attempt was refused, finally on May 17th, 2018 they accepted the letter requesting replacements for all of the above mentioned plants but 7 burning bushes. With the exception of the 8 bushes, all others did not show any sign of life in 2017 or in 2018. I have emailed them 3 times now to get a follow up on the request for replacements, no response. I have tired to call them 20 times since May 17th, 2018 and receive a busy signal. I have been gardening for 25 years and have experience with growing bare root plants. I am very surprised of the amount of plants that survived. 14% (7 of 50) plants showed any sign of life in 2017 and came back in 2018. This is a very low percentage of survival. I would not recommend Direct Gardening at this point, even if you are an experienced gardener.
Sells a range of gardening supplies, plants, vegetables, trees and flowers.
