HD picture is no better via satellite upgrade. Cost went up. Quality went down due to a black/gray horizontal Genie bar cutting off the top part of the screen. So, I am paying more for less picture. Often heads of people or words on screen are blocked. Bad! & no fix.
DIRECTV can't get their s*** together. Three different channels I wanted to watch today were unavailable because contracts had expired. It would be different if this weren't a common place event. Sort out your business dealings. Doing anything else shows you have zero regard for your customers. This has everything to do with corporate profits at the expense of customers. 1 star, only because zero is not an option. Do not recommend.
When calling technical support you either hook up with someone from India Mexico. Are the Philippines not fair? I'm already frustrated that my TV don't work now. I have no experience with the DirecTV service that is now owned by ATT.
I really liked DirecTV. I found that the amount of channels and quality of service was on par with the local cable companies. I haven't really experienced to many outages because of stormy weather. I found that when the weather is stormy, the cable companies have outages as well. I have very few complaints, but the major complaint i do have is the customer service. I cannot understand the majority of the indian call center reps. I know it is more expensive, but is it really worth it to save a little bit of money even though the call center employees are so hard to understand? I would rather pay a few dollars more and be able to understand and easily communicate with the person i am speaking with.
I had Direct Tv for several years total including when AT&T tookover. It got worst when At&T tookover. Many phone calls were made on TV reception problems. The last call a rep came and said I had an old dvr and should be change.He changed it and told me to sign his papers on work he did. Unknown to me I signed for 2yr DVR upgrade I thought the DVR was bad. I cancelled and got Comcast and was charged $74 for early cancellation by Direct Tv a week before the 2 yr anniversary. It didn't matter to them about Tech misrepresenting his work. I told them if I knew the contract was ending in a week why would I cancel them and get charged. It didn't matter to them. Phone calls and letters to dispute the charge was to no avail. They said they would refer me to a collection agency if I didn't pay and my credit would be downgraded. Poor service and poor professionalism. Their reps didn't care. The billing department was rude.
Well they did it to me a 2nd time. I scheduled a install appointment to make up for a previous appointment that the tech had shown up 40 minutes after the scheduled appointment. I had waited most of the day and had to make another appointment. So I rescheduled and this time I sat home all day and no call to indicate that the tech would be late or was not going to make it. My appointment was scheduled from 12 to 4. At 12:30 I received a text saying he was on his way and should arrive soon. At 4:30 I call customer service and they said just wait until 5:30 and would call back. Well no call back. Just a text message stating they rescheduled my appointment for the 3rd time. They gave me no choice of day or time. So should I waste another day waiting on these fools? What poor service. Never again. They sad part is I've got 2 years before I can get out of the contract.
My May 22nd bill from entertainment was double from all of my past recent billings. I have contacted both direct TV and CenturyLink only to have them blame each other. I am currently waiting for a call from a supervisor from direct TV and have zero expectations of hearing from them. My next move is to contact TV attorney general's office. I cancelled my service and will NEVER use the company again.

I've been suffering for 20 years with Diectv. Finally had enough! Piss pore customer service. Over seas China people have no knowledge or solutions to most issues. Most of the time you can't understand you or you them. They hang up on you disconect, lie and promise things that they can't deliver.

I canceled service and returned my equipment back in July. I now have a past due amount for service that I have not been receiving (it is October). When speaking with customer service and a supervisor I was told that I never cancelled and that there was no proof of me returning the equipment. I have a receipt from FedEx along with serial equipment numbers on the receipt. I was yelled at by the supervisor stating that I never cancelled service. I called back again and was connected to another agent and she saw on my account where I called in and canceled, even though the previous two agents called me a liar.
I deceptively paid for service for the past couple of months that I did not use and had cancelled. I have never been spoken to with such disdain and unprofessionalism by a company in my life.
They have been taking my money deceptively and now when I refuse to pay "a past due bill" for service I canceled I refuse to have this company just take my money and treat me this way.
I have been a customer of Direct TV for years. Only because I live in an area where I can not get cable or Fios. I called couple months ago to canx service because its to expensive. They talked me into keeping service by giving me a discounted monthly rate. Much lower for the choice package. I open my bill recently only to see a $400 balance? (2 months) I called them and the deal was never applied. They stated they saw the convo. But it was pending and never went through. Only to tell me they could not do that deal it was to low! Told me I had to pay the past due in order to even help me with the account issues that they promised me. I have been transferred around from person to person trying to get help and the line keeps hanging up on me!
Directv, is full of it,, they I order NBA, AND NFL channels, when I don't even watch football nor basketball. They say someone in your house did there is noone in my house but me. Then the channels that NFL is on is not on my TV. When you go to those channels it only says direct tv. They going to tell me we took off the NBA ticket but you have pay half on the NFL. Yall think I'm a fool to pay for something I didn't order and it's not on my TV. They can have their boxes and all never again. I am very dissatisfied. I was a loyal customer for years. The lady I talked to in billing told me it was a mistake on their behalf, and they I'm going to pay for their mistake, not my money.
After using DTV for years, we decided to cancel service since we weren't watching DTV anymore but yet were still paying $63 monthly. Keep in mind, we've paid our monthly bills on time and never had to call DTV for anything. When I finally got a rep on the phone to cancel service, she kept me on the line for 15-20 mins asking questions and telling me the process to cancel service is long even though I kept saying I just want to cancel service. The icing on the cake was when she told me that my cancellation would not go into affect until 2 weeks later because of the billing cycle. I even spoke to a MGR (Frantz- ID# FN2655) and he said the same thing and was no help. Over 45 mins of my day wasted. Let's see what my credit card company has to say about that. In my opinion, stay away from DTV and choose cheaper online streaming services with better business practices. What a nightmare to just cancel service.

I recently signed up for DirecTV and was told that I needed a box. When the technician arrived for the install, he told me that I don't need the box after all, and that he couldn't take it back. He told me that I would have to take it to an AT&T store, at my convenience but that there was no limit on the retime. I attempted to return the box 32 days after signing up for the service. Now they won't take it back because "I'm over the 30 day limit." 2 of their employees lied to me and scammed me into purchasing something that I don't need.
I cancelled my service in the middle of the billing cycle and I haven't used it since. I even told the tech that I wouldn't be using the service but they said they couldn't cancel until the 2nd but my bill was all caught up. Turns out that it wasn't and I've still been charged an entire month for the service and they don't pro-rate, so I have to pay for half of a month where I didn't use their service. I will never deal with this company again. Not only was the customer service completely unhelpful, but the stupid satellite would go out if the wind blew too hard. Stay away from this company unless you have absolutely no choice.

Do not fall for any Direct TV promotion you will be sorry. Direct TV spends an enormous amount of time and money on promotions which end up being a complete misrepresentation.
I had a new roof put on and called for a reinstall of the dish. They scheduled Me for almost 3 weeks away. I have been a long time customer with Sunday Ticket every year. They do not even care about customer loyalty. I reinstalled the dish Myself. I am really thinking of canceling.
Since I've been on directv over 10 years their service has declined at an alarming rate I have dvr to record so I can time commercials now a 1.5 hr movie is 4 hours long also on a regular show there's 4 minutes of ads every 5 minutes of programming and the same shows over and over again 24/7 every week I only watch 6 channels and I'm getting mighty pissed off somethingbmust be done or I'm leaving I prefer local channels and 1 get 12 HD channels here for free
The system has been installed for less than 3 weeks, it's been down less than it's been up. Today it went out for the fourth time. Since they can't provide the service they are charging me for, I asked that the Uninstall their equipment, of course there's a cancelation fee. They can't provide a service, but they can darn sure charge fees. Avoid them, absolutely useless.

With our move of 3miles, we decided to switch from Dish to DirecTV because of the NFL promo (3 games not network). We had much more service from Dish for what would be the same price. We thought we might save a little, but we aren't. We are charged for HD, but we have no local (major networks) HD. That was not disclosed. Their attitude is one of "tough $#*! - pay us the $420 and you can switch". Our business would never survive if we conducted ourselves in the same way. We will stay and pay for the 2 years and then switch as fast as we can. Funny how here in football fan country the services are talked about with strangers on the street and the NFL promo brought DirecTV a lot of disappointed cumtomers in our area. We have not had service interuption, thus the 2 stars vs 0 stars.

Well, today I checked my credit report through credit Karma and found out that I was sent to a collection agency for $71.00. I talked with Alex in Wireless Service, who transferred me to Honey in Technical who transferred me to Hershey in Billing who transferred me to her supervisor Mae who told me I would have to pay $89.17. This is ridiculous.

First, only use a satellite service only when you don't have any other choice, it's terrible during bad weather.
Next, DIRECTV plans can never be broken even for 95 year old veterans who no longer needs television service. I've tried to call and explain his situation but DIRECTV doesn't care about their customers, only money for there spotty product.

Please don't fall for using DirecTV, the agents lie and will do anything for the sale. I was told last year when I went to them that I would have access to redzone and sunday ticket. I was also told I could cancel anytime with no penalty. When football season arrived, I had no nfl access and was told it was because I was streaming rather than with a dish. I didnt cancel last year but when it got time for football this year, I called to cancel. I was told I would have to pay the equipment off and owed $200. I told them that I was not told that when I signed up and that the boxes were useless to me. They said, no they are just like any other streaming box and can still be used. I argued for an hour before finally just paying the $200 to get rid of them. They lied when they say the boxes can be used just like ROKU. They are proprietary to Directv and do not work at all.
