$15.99 for standard shipping?! Get bent. Guess I'll stick with my local sewing supply shop. When I'm dropping $100+ on fabric, I expect great service and decent perks. You won't find that at Fabric.com.
Seeing all of these reviews makes me feel better - at least I'm not alone in my bad experience! I probably order from fabric.com 3-4x a year and have noticed they refuse to sell certain fabrics at sale prices. Even when they include these prints and designers in their sales, they somehow magically end up 'out of stock' before they can fulfill the order. This happened to me THREE TIMES IN A ROW with the same fabric... yet it was obviously restocked at least twice. Just don't list it in the sale if you don't plan on SELLING it for a discounted price. I find their business practices shady and not worth the gamble. It's time to start putting my money where my mouth is - I will no longer order from fabric.com. I've recently discovered www.quilthome.com and am so happy I have! The site and their customer service are 100x better than fabric.com. If you need a fabric fix (and who doesn't?) check out www.quilthome.com - I'm their new biggest fan;-)
I have ordered Tommy Bahama Beach Bounty fabric many times and paid U.S. $9.90 per metre. Imagine my surprise when I went to order and it was close to U.S. $22 per yard.
When I contacted fabric.com for an explanation, I was simply told that was the correct price. I find that a 'non-explanation' and more than arrogant. I have since bought the same fabric elsewhere for U.S. $9.90 per yard. And got a pleasant surprise when their freight was also half the price I had been oaying with fabric.com. Very dissappointed!
I've been a customer for about two years but won't be any longer. All due to their customer service. Mistakes happen, but it's how you handle them that matters. I ordered a denim fabric that had a bad chemical odor straight from the box, but I thought it will go away after washing. What I discovered as a result -- crocking and bleeding of the fabric in wet and dry condition. Needless to say, I was denied a refund because of prewashing. Total waste of money. I attempted to post my honest review and included a picture of my stained fingers, but it was denied by the company with the explanation that "it did not meet all their website guidelines". Never explained to me what they actually are. I can get over not being refunded but being denied the right to voice my true opinion is a little too much. Not buying from them again.
A few years ago when I started my business, Fabric.com was a wonderful company to use. They had great prices. Coupons were easily accessible. Free shipping on large orders. Fast shipping.
In the last year there's been a complete turnaround. I can't believe it's the same company. And this in the crapper service started before they made their big move.
On the 25th I placed an order, with over 160yrds in stock and 3 days later get a message that I could have in little pieces, not one continuous piece. I declined and requested a refund. It'll be 10 plus days before I get that, but oh not till later because it wasn't put in their system sooner. While I wait, stupid me, I placed another order. Once again plenty in stock at that time. Same thing, 4 days later they're out of stock, cancelled the order and now I'm waiting for a second refund.
This used to be wonderful company to work with. What happened?
I have issues with UPS Tamworth, UK holding onto my order because they do not take COD and it has been 'abandoned'. I called them and have been told I have to contact UPS in the US the area code doesn't exist so I can't call. I called them again and now I have to contact Fabric.com to get them to authorize release. What is this? Has anyone else had this issue? Tamworth depot have horrendous reviews and all I want is my order that I paid for. No one notified me that it was being held and that there was a problem. I thought I'd track it's progress as it was taking ages to arrive. Don't UPS, USA communicate with UPS, Tamworth? I have always received the package at home and paid COD there and then so why is there a problem with delivering it to my address? Can anyone help me please, I am pulling my hair out!
When you read that your order will ship out 2-3 business days from when you place your order, know that that is just a boldface lie. I try not to order from fabric.com because it is so slow but because of their wide selection I sometimes have to. In this case, I placed my order and ever since the 3rd day after my order I have been on their tails. I was GUARANTEED by a manager that my order would ship on the 4th day, and low and behold it did not ship, and now I have a whole weekend to wait to see if it will go out Monday. I find that when speaking to customer service I get horrible responses from them because their hands are tied by management. They are not allowed to escalate customers' claims per company protocol. So essentially, the customer service representatives are answering phone calls and emails with their hands behind their backs. This is an awful way to run a business and I've never been so angry with a business in all of my life.
I placed an order on 2/4/14and it was mailed today 2/14/14,10 days is ridiculous. The order just sat there for 10 days! I am scheduled to get it 2/17/14,, sure I will! Will NEVER order from this place again!
I have never experienced a company that had less customer service. They do not answer the phone, do not return calls, and do not answer emails. It is if fabic.com is a black hole. Very stressful customer experience and I am inclined to write every review I can find to save others the sham experience I had. Don't do it.
Fabric.com employees are extremely slow when it comes to the the packing for shipping! I think that they believe if you order over $35.00 and they ship for free that we shouldn't have a right to complain. If you order on a Monday and it is not shipped out until10 days later, on the following next Thursday something is definitely wrong. They ship via UPS, but it is not UPS it is them getting around to sending out your order.
If I could give 1/2 of a star I would have, very frustrated! Do not even get me started on them having fabric listed and then it is not even in-stock :(
It took a while to get my sample (I live in Australia). I think the original one was lost in the post, but they resent it as soon as I queried. When I ordered the fabric itself, it only took only10 days from ordering to delivery - just fabulous.
I have read the reviews on this company and I am shocked. I have been ordering from them for a few years and have been overwhelmingly please at their products and service. I have ordered everything from samples to 45 yards of slipcover fabric and never had a problem. I have normally received my fabric within 4-5 days after ordering. Maybe they are under new management since they moved, although I have order also from them since they moved. I hope things improve, because I pretty much stopped going into local fabric stores because they seem to have everything and at much better prices.
On 4/3/2020 I ordered fabric from this company. I paid for my order with paypal. It stated that it would take 7-10 business days to go out. I waited 2 weeks for my order and it never arrived. I went back into their website to get the phone number and noticed it now has a notice that due to Covid 19 it is taking 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to ship. I called the company and the guy that I talked to said my order was about to go out and to be patient. On 4/27 I sent a email inquiring about my order and waited for a reply. On 4/28 I tried calling to see if my order had shipped and had to leave a message. Kate in the evening I received a email that they were out of the product I ordered and they were not sure if it would be coming in but did I want to substitute another color. I sent a reply and told them to cancel my order and refund my money. I have now wasted 25 days on this company and now I have to start over looking for this fabric elsewhere.
I placed an order on 9/3/12. I hadn't heard back from the company in over a week so I called to find out about my order. They didn't have more order ready, and some of my fabric turned to be out of stock. They never informed me of this or communicated that things would take over a week to be processed. I would not recommend ordering from this website. I ended up canceling my order and they didn't care in the slightest.
I had two customers order from fabric.com The first ordered many yards where the watermark was on the right side of fabric and there was no way to cut out anything without the watermark being on it! The other ordered one yard of green fabric. There was a running flaw the entire length of the fabric about 10' wide. Her other piece was sunbrella fabric and was washed on Delicate and cold water, then air dried- the entire piece was pilled and had fade spots, obviously fabric that was faulty. Customer service was NOT good. She is still waiting for her money back on the fabric. Meanwhile, she paid for an item to be made that will not hold up! Do NOT order from this company. (I would add photos but it is not allowing me to do so)
So dissatisfied with the way they do business. 4 days after I placed order I received and email telling me that one of the 10 fabrics I ordered Is not available anymore even though at the time of purchase there were 41 yards and I only ordered 4. They gave me 24 hours to reply to that email or will send my order incomplete. They had 4 days to fail me and wanted my to rush and order a new fabric to replce tvat one. A supervisor had no idea how to handle my issue but the customer service consultants were trying there best to get me off line by saying that they don't "regularly update stocks" and "that they have some issues". Happend already with 2 of my orders. Not reliable and extremely slow when they finally send some of the orders. Not happy, will never purchase from here as there are other reliable sources out there. Fabric.com missed the mark for me by not providing product, customer service, resolution and respect. So what are they doing I wonder!?!
I ordered 2 yards of Liberty of London crepe de chine fabric during a 50% off sale, paying $31.75 per yard. After several days, I received an email informing me that my order was cancelled because the fabric is no longer available. I checked Fabric.com's website and saw the same fabric available at full price, $63.50 per yard. I emailed and called Customer Service and asked them to ship my fabric at the discounted price. They refused, but told me I could place a new order for the fabric at full price. I asked to speak to a manager, and was told that my request will be "elevated" to a decision making team and that I would be conacted withing 48 hours. I was never contacted. I called Customer Service once again and was told that my request was again being "elevated" and to expect resolution in 24 hours. I have not yet been been contacted though it's been days since the promise was made. Clearly, this is not a life or death situation--just an example of very poor customer service and perhaps a little bait and switch. Wish I could assign "no stars".
Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service from Fabric.com today. THE WORST. Basically they ran out of fabric I already paid for (ordered SUNDAY) and instead of offering me a coupon or an equivalent fabric at the same price, they told me they were anxiously awaiting my order for my replacement... which by the way had to be of equal or lesser value and if it was lesser they would not honor the free shipping. I also called them Tuesday and asked why it was not shipped... They told me it would ship Wednesday and they LIED about that too. I had to email them to ask why my order STILL hadn't shipped... They sold my already paid for fabric to someone else!
I call bull$#*!. Don't use these shysters. The bait and switch is a ridiculous move.

I ordered 75 yards of a fabric for a big slipcover job. They sent me only 45 yards. My seamstress called in a panic and demanded more fabric. So I ordered the fabric I'd already paid for. That was a week ago. I'm still waiting for a refund. They've been screwing with me for a week. If I hadn't needed so much fabric I'd have ordered from a traditional store. Save yourself a big hassle and go somewhere else.
I placed an order of fabric and yarn. The fabric arrived in a long tube box, with no yarn. Nothing indicated a second package and the shipping slip included the yarn. I called and the rep was nice enough and but the bulk of the yarn was now out of stock. She sent the 2 skeins that were available and refunded the rest, giving me the date they were expected in. Frustrating that they couldn't simply fill the rest of my order when they had it. So then I order again when the yarn was back in stock, only to realize it no longer qualified for free shipping. I phoned to place the order, expecting that the rep would waive the shipping. Oh no- I had to pay the shipping then call to request a refund. What the hell? So I placed the order online while still on the phone and then requested the refund. She put me on hold for about 20 minutes. Whole process was so ridiculous. Then, it took over a week for the order to be shipped. So done with this company.
Answer: Hawthorne Threads is great.
Answer: Im using them for almost a year but no more... they keep sending me 25 % discount almost every week to gain me back... NO WAY! Yeah i order atleast 2,000 each order... total loss for them... until now they still awe me money for the fleece fabric i order long time ago, when i order it it has 50 yards of it, after 10 days they gonna tell me its out of stock, waited for replacement, until now no replacement... i got a lot of horrible experience with this company,,, dirty fabric that looks like somebody use it to rub on their body... really really sucks!
Answer: My business is making curtains. I have dealt with this company for the past two years and I think the customer service department is doing the best they can with trying to making it look like the company has it together. They do not have it together at all. There is no excuse with the volume of business that they do that they cannot afford a system that can tell you immediately an item is out of stock. I cannot tell you how many times I have purchased fabric from this company only to learn three days later that it is not in stock. Then they hold the rest of your order for another three to four days after you answer an email telling them to continue to ship the rest of the order. I have had fabric arrive to me balled up in a box that they didn't even bother to put in a bag, I have had fabric with shoe prints on it in the middle of the bolt or pieces of fabric missing from a ten yard order that were cut out of the middle of the ten yards. I am trying to eventually not use this company at all anymore as they don't have a clue as to how to treat customers or just don't care. The only problem is they have run all of the mom and pop online fabric stores out of business with lower prices (this was maybe two years ago) and the smaller businesses couldn't keep up with them so they closed. Now that they have the market they have raised their prices because they have very little competition out there. If you leave a good review for this company you are one in a million that have had a pleasurable experience. Just because you bought from them once and don't have a complaint means nothing, consider yourself lucky.
Answer: It's a US website, so they'll take the money in US dollars, but if they take orders from Australia your bank or payment processor will have to convert the currency according to the current exchange rate and I think they may also charge a fee for doing this.
Answer: Thank you so much for your inquiry. Please feel free to send your contact information to edhr@fabric.com, and I would be more than happy to forward it to the appropriate people.
Answer: You would have been better off contacting fabric.com directly. It doesn't look like they even know about this website.
Answer: I would call or email them, including as much detail as you can... order #, what fabrics were ordered and approximately the time of the order. Have never had this happen to me from Fabric.com, have from another online site and was lucky that I got the help I needed. Good Luck.
Answer: As a customer of theirs, almost an ex-customer of theirs at this point, I can honestly say they have made absolutely no changes for the better in my case. They have paid absolutely no attention to any of my issues with them, which is why I'm about to become a former customer.
