(1) All three of these fabrics were inexpensive, and I think at least two were on clearance, so I have no complaint towards the company, but they were not completely color-fast. Not to such a degree that their attractiveness was impaired, but when I prewashed them all separately, all left varying degrees of either light gray or pink (the middle one) on Shout color-catcher papers. When I rinsed the left one and middle one again, however, Shout papers remained white. The fabric on the right, however, still returned the paper with a faint grayish tinge, even when washed again, with a delicate detergent, the next day. I will be careful when I wash the garments I plan to make with these fabrics, avoiding washing for the first few times with color-susceptible white underwear, for instance.
(2) I had to call customer service during the ordering process, and their representative, a man, was very pleasant and helpful. No long wait to speak to a human being, either!
(3) I ordered on 2/15, and by 2/16 got a notice that the order had been processed, giving a UPS tracking number. A few days after that, UPS tracking was saying that it was on its way and would be delivered the next day. I was delighted, but the next time I checked tracking, the progress line had greatly regressed and there was no indication of when to expect delivery. There appeared to be no way I could contact UPS and get an answer from a human as to the reason, but after a while (thanks to the covid-19 vaccines being delayed, I realized that it must be due to the winter storms disrupting things between the East and West Coasts. The package arrived on the 23rd.
(4) While I didn't use a yardstick to measure, the fabrics seem to have been given a generous cut, and they were all whole pieces.
On the whole, I am very pleased and expect to be ordering from fabric.com again.
Added later: I believe that shipping was free for orders of $49 and above.
First time I ordered they were fantastic, fast delivery great customer service but now after my third order it's just going ridiculously worse, second order they forgot my white faux fur, and didn't tell me that my order was in 2 different packages, so originally I thought I was missing a LOT more. When I contacted them about the fur the customer service was so nice to ship me my fur free of charge, but tbh I'd rather pay shipping charge to get my fabric decently. They had it packed in the smallest box imaginable, so much so it ruined the fur making it all crinkled, and matted. This time I placed a large order and after being landed with an over 100+€ customs charge I find out I'm missing 4+ yards of fur AGAIN ( and it's the white too the one I need the most along with other colours) now I'm thinking is there another box? Because I did not get a receipt but I wouldn't know I wasn't TOLD. So I either wait to see if UPS will deliver another box ( and basically let $100+ worth of fabric be forgotten about) or I contact customer service to let them ship me my remaining fabric squished into a tiny box and be bombed with custom charges AGAIN.
I, too, have ordered from this company several times, without incident, but my experience with my past 2 orders has been bad enough that I will never order from them again! My last order was shorted, a lot. Ordered 3 yards of a particular fabric, received a little less than. 5. After I complained, they sent the right fabric, it arrived days later than expected and fabric.com made a big fuss about the tiny piece of fabric I had received first. They made me ship it back to them, or they said they were going to charge me for it. IT WAS LESS THAN HALF A YARD AND WAS THEIR MISTAKE! But I had to jump through a lot of hoops, at great inconvenience to me.
My most recent order was worse. I ordered several different fabrics, 3 yard cuts of each. After confirming my order, they then emailed me to inform me one of my fabrics was nearly out of stock and I could only get 1.5 yards. But that I could choose another, as long as it was the same price, and I responded within 24 hrs. I chose the SAME FABRIC, in a different shade, same price, same designer, same everything (except color)! 3 days later, I got a response from them telling me I couldn't have that fabric because it was of greater value! I immediately responded, with screenshots from their site of the fabric i had originally ordered and the fabric i had chosen to replace it, showing it was the same price. A few hours later, I received an email saying "sorry, your order has shipped"! I did everything, jumped through every hoop they threw at me, only to realize in the end that they most likely, never intended to fix the situation!
Customer service is terrible. I regret spending so much money with them. NEVER AGAIN!
The other reviewers are right; Fabric.com could really give a crap if my home business was hinging on getting the fabric in time, which it will not. As sometimes happens, I realized I didn't have the fabric I needed. I ordered it Monday, wanted it by Wednesday or Thursday. But when I checked out, there was no shipping option and suddenly the order was complete. I immediately called customer service and was told in fact that is the only way to get expedited shipping, whereupon they - and here the irony just kills me - THEY PUT YOUR ORDER ON HOLD FOR DAYS until they get around to calling you and asking you what kind of expedited shipping you want. They held my order for three days and then had the nerve to ask me did I want to spend $60 on a $40 order to get tit next day. Had I just let it be normal shipping, I might have gotten it by now! Though based on the reviews I probably wouldn't have. It hasn't ruined me, thank God, but I will not make nearly as much this weekend as I could have. I found the same stuff online and wouldn't you know, they promised to have it in the mail by the next business day. The world's largest online retailer can assure me their vendors get it in the mil almost immediately, but these schmoes at Fabric.com can't even be bothered to process my order for at least 3 business days. I could go on about how the people I spoke with were terribly unimpressed with my plight and kept implying that it was sort of on me, I should have known better since the site does say it takes 2-3 business days to ship your order. Silly me, I thought it was 2014 and the 3 day warning was for incredibly busy times like Christmas, not your average Tuesday. Like another reviewer said, I wish I could give them 0 stars but I had to pick at least one.
I have you all beat- this is my worst experience with any vendor, ever. I have placed the charges in dispute with my credit card company and am filing a complaint with the BBB.
I ordered 15 yards of fabric that was advertised at $5.58 per yard. I received only 10 yards. When I contacted them, I spoke to Natasha who informed me that the fabric was sold per PANEL (the repeat length) which is 24".
I had the item up on my computer screen and it clearly showed the price was per YARD. I told her I was looking at it RIGHT NOW and it shows the price is per yard. She said to refresh my browser, and when I did, the price magically changed to PER PANEL.
YES- they changed the pricing on their website WHILE I was on the phone with them to justify short-shipping my order. Talk about fraud!
I told Natasha I had two different screenshots of that page that I had (thankfully!) taken previously that proved the item was originally advertised per YARD. She didn't care. Told her I was reporting them to the BBB and Natasha said, "Go ahead, I don't care!"
Best part is that she refused to allow me to speak to her supervisor, even though I could clearly hear the supervisor in the background telling her what to say.
I have been a long-time customer but have not used them since they were bought by Amazon. Will never shop at either Fabric.com or Amazon again.
My credit card company and the BBB are both fighting this as I have the documentation to prove that they did not give me what they advertised. They will spend more money and time fighting this than it would have taken to just give me the missing 5 yards of fabric or a credit for what I didn't receive.
LOSERS, LIARS AND THIEVES
My absolute favorite place. Their fabric is the greatest; Snappy service; Great service department; I love, love, LOVE it!
Ordered Sat. 4/12. The website states orders will be mailed within 2 to 3 business days. On Thur 4/16, it was processing; and Fri. 4/17, it's on hold. I was not notified by email that my order was on hold. I found out on checking the website. So far, I am disappointed. My order was $284, & I paid via Paypal.
Update: 4\22\15. I emailed customer service Mon 4/20 and Tue 4/21, but I received no response. I followed up with the phone call today, 4/22, and was helped by Lashonda. She couldn't find out why my order has not been shipped or why I had not been emailed. She put me on hold, which was okay with me, to talk to her manager. She came back, and said her manager was busy with another customer and she'd call me back. She didn't call me back. I phoned about 5 hours later and got another person who then told me they would overnight my order. In my emails, I told them that I didn't want my order put on hold, that I wanted them to ship my order without the items that were unavailable, and credited for what they couldn't fill. I hope that's what they did. We will see tomorrow...
UPDATE 4/23/15 Well, the order did NOT arrive as promised. Instead, I got a robot-generated email that stated my order is on hold because an item is out of stock. This is RIDICULOUS. So as of today I have sent 4 emails and talked to a customer service rep twice. Stay tuned...
4/24/15: Chatted with Jeanna online this time. She assured me that my order REALLY will be overnighted today. And, she gave me a $10 coupon for my trouble. And, she said I will be credited the out-of-stock item. I'll report back.
4/27/15 I received an email today sayiing my order was shipped UPS ground. That would NOT be overnight, as promised. We'll see when it arrives...
4/30/15. Tracking information says it will arrive 5/4. We'll see...
5/4 The package arrived. There was a mistake--a wrong fabric. I called and they're sending out the right fabric. I'll let you know if I get it.
5/19/15 Have not received my fabric yet.
Delayed shipping even when i requested expedite service! So annoying
Answer: Hawthorne Threads is great.
Answer: Im using them for almost a year but no more... they keep sending me 25 % discount almost every week to gain me back... NO WAY! Yeah i order atleast 2,000 each order... total loss for them... until now they still awe me money for the fleece fabric i order long time ago, when i order it it has 50 yards of it, after 10 days they gonna tell me its out of stock, waited for replacement, until now no replacement... i got a lot of horrible experience with this company,,, dirty fabric that looks like somebody use it to rub on their body... really really sucks!
Answer: My business is making curtains. I have dealt with this company for the past two years and I think the customer service department is doing the best they can with trying to making it look like the company has it together. They do not have it together at all. There is no excuse with the volume of business that they do that they cannot afford a system that can tell you immediately an item is out of stock. I cannot tell you how many times I have purchased fabric from this company only to learn three days later that it is not in stock. Then they hold the rest of your order for another three to four days after you answer an email telling them to continue to ship the rest of the order. I have had fabric arrive to me balled up in a box that they didn't even bother to put in a bag, I have had fabric with shoe prints on it in the middle of the bolt or pieces of fabric missing from a ten yard order that were cut out of the middle of the ten yards. I am trying to eventually not use this company at all anymore as they don't have a clue as to how to treat customers or just don't care. The only problem is they have run all of the mom and pop online fabric stores out of business with lower prices (this was maybe two years ago) and the smaller businesses couldn't keep up with them so they closed. Now that they have the market they have raised their prices because they have very little competition out there. If you leave a good review for this company you are one in a million that have had a pleasurable experience. Just because you bought from them once and don't have a complaint means nothing, consider yourself lucky.
Answer: It's a US website, so they'll take the money in US dollars, but if they take orders from Australia your bank or payment processor will have to convert the currency according to the current exchange rate and I think they may also charge a fee for doing this.
Answer: Thank you so much for your inquiry. Please feel free to send your contact information to edhr@fabric.com, and I would be more than happy to forward it to the appropriate people.
Answer: You would have been better off contacting fabric.com directly. It doesn't look like they even know about this website.
Answer: I would call or email them, including as much detail as you can... order #, what fabrics were ordered and approximately the time of the order. Have never had this happen to me from Fabric.com, have from another online site and was lucky that I got the help I needed. Good Luck.
Answer: As a customer of theirs, almost an ex-customer of theirs at this point, I can honestly say they have made absolutely no changes for the better in my case. They have paid absolutely no attention to any of my issues with them, which is why I'm about to become a former customer.
Fabric.com has a rating of 2 stars from 380 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Fabric.com most frequently mention customer service, business days and credit card. Fabric.com ranks 113th among Fabric sites.
