Avoid this site. They say they have the items in stock. They take a week to say they are short items. They ask if you want a substitute. You Substitute a item and they get that wrong so now the order is completely messed up. You spend hours to days on the phone trying to resolve the situation. Waste of time and money. Never can speak to a supervisor, they dont return calls or emails.
I LOVE this site. I found it in March 2013 through a blog I discovered on Pinterest. I have ordered with them at least 3 times now and they always have great selection, prices, and are timely. The fabrics are unique and vibrant, and most of them are extremely durable! I love that if I leave the site, I can save my cart for a later date.
The one time I did have an issue was when an item I ordered was not available right away, it was on back order. The item came separately (I did not have to pay any extra S&H). Unfortunately they had sent me a mislabeled fabric, and while cute, it was not what I ordered. After e-mailing customer service, they responded within 24 hours. They sent me my correct order free of charge AND I got to keep the wrong one - which I was considering ordering anyway if they made me return it, it was so cute!
Overall, a fabulous site. I feel bad for anyone who has had troubles in the past, but I have had nothing but quality fabric and wonderful service!
I purchased fabric at Walmart and then realized I did not have enough. Walmart had sold out so I ordered the same from Fabric.com and was disappointed to find that the fabric was faded. Perhaps a different dye lot?
I've purchased from fabric.com a couple times, and the experiences vary wildly from a slightly late delivery, to a piece cut short. But now, after waiting a month on a decent order they just canceled it without explanation and refunded me the sale price minus shipping. I should have trusted the reviews before buying. Their prices aren't low enough to risk the unreliable customer service they provide.
Ok! I get it! It's discount, cheap fabric. But, they should be up front about what they are selling and not claim that it's something else. They advertised charmeuse, and described it as very lightweight and appropriate for blouses, skirts, and lingerie. I will agree that charmeuse is appropriate for all those purposes, but what they sent me was cheap, heavy, costume satin. It was VERY stiff and VERY loud when touched. Plus, it was "seconds" in that it had red spots on it that were very noticeable. Definitely not buying from them again.
Fabric arrived damaged because they stuck a sticker to each piece. I could not get the sticky out of one of the pieces and attempted to contact the company for days, both email and phone, and never got a response, a return or a refund, just an unusable piece of fabric.
We purchased some fabric from them and it was. Ever received. I filed a claim with them and ups investigated 3 times. Someone signed for the shipment using my first name but the picture of the signature wasn't mine. Anyway fabric.com wouldn't refund my money or ever resolve the fact that I said I never received the fabric i ordered. They never offered to ship me a new shipment either. We spent $100 bucks and never got anything in return, and we are a low income family. Just beware. I tried to post a review on their site but it was never approved so it never posted. I hope someone reads this before buying from them. Please please please, purchase your fabric somewhere else. Don't get screwed.
I sent for two samples of stretch velvet - Navy and Royal Blue. The Navy was perfect. I made an error cutting a sleeve. Reordered and the fabric was so full of flaws it could not be used. Do they just close their eyes and cut? Shipping this way they should cut every piece with a light. Flawed fabric should never leave their premises. I returned it and was sent another piece which was not even close to Navy. Is closer to the Royal sample!
If a company selling on line cannot purchase from a dependable mill, then they should not be in business.
Sample books are the "bible" for a drapery business. How would a business succeed if the fabric was a different shade from the sample book? The same applies to Fabric.com.
I guess I'll have to have one outfit a different color! VERY SAD!
Also, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB.
I looked at a number of these posts, but I have to say that I was very satisfied with my order. I ordered minky and fleece and got them both quickly and both were wrapped up and clean and tidy in a box. I was very happy and will use the site again.
I had really high hopes for this company. Their website is so professional and I was convinced they were the right choice for our order. We're a young couple and invested over $500 in fabric only to get the wrong order 3 times. The portion of our order that was correct was damaged. When I called I had to wait almost 15 minutes to talk to a supervisor that really couldn't offer much help or guidance. The best they could do was a $50 credit which I'll never use because I'll never order from here again. Stay away! There are far too many comparable fabric websites to waste your time with this one. Oh and to add insult to injury, I'm returning the fabric that was delivered in error and they're deducting the shipping charges from my credit... but I wouldn't have to return it if they'd sent me the right product! Very frustrating.
I placed an order for 38 yards of material. They emailed back stating they had two pieces that totaled 42 yards and I said that's fine so the order total was changed to 42 yards. I was supposed to have the material by a certain date. When the date rolls around, I haven't received any follow up, and when checking in they haven't shipped it. No response to emails. Over the phone, customer service reps say they will check on it and of course there is no follow up. Called again today (5 days after I should have received the order) and the rep said they would reach out to the vendor who was drop shipping it to me... so they don't even have it in stock (a previous rep said they would check with the warehouse to see when it was shipping, making it sound like they actually stocked it). I had a hard deadline with my customer that I missed because of fabric.com. Don't waste your time with this company, there's a good chance you will be disappointed. I wish I would have checked all their bad reviews before trying to do business with them. I will be going straight to the source next time and finding the company that actually has the product to sell.
I ordered 9 yards of fabric for a backing, imagine my surprise when I only recieved 8 yards and it was cut into 4 pieces of approximately 2 yards each. Fabric was also cut crooked and very wrinkled. Customer support said I could return it but there was not more in stock and no guarantee I would get continuous yardage.
I used to order quite often from Fabric.com and they always had low prices, and excellent customer service. The last 2 orders I had were a terrible experience. The wrong fabric was sent, the order was delayed with no communication, and it took over a week for customer service to respond each time. The last time I didn't have to return the fabric received in error, this time I did, but they didn't give me a return label, or even a shipping address. They also have already charged me for the replacement. I used to love this store, but they have increased their prices too high, and their customer service has become horrible. I won't buy from them again."
I have shopped here for 3 years. I love the selection, the sales the overall prices are better than elsewhere. I love having a place to get any type of fabric, and not just quilting fabric. I am quite baffled at the bad reviews. I have never had a single problem and I have purchased quite a few times. Speedy shipping and customer service when I have a question. Love this place.
I was very pleased with my experience with this site. I placed an order and received it in 1 week. Fabric was just as pictured and good quality. I order some black out backing and it was too heavy for my window treatment. I had to request a return authorization. This was a very easy process and my credit was received in 1 week after return. I will definitely shop here again.
I ordered several pieces of fabric in 1/2 and 1 yard lengths. There were several (20-40) yards of each fabric in stock when I ordered and while I saw there would be shipping delays I didn't think it would be too bad. A few days later I got a notice that one of the fabrics was out of stock, and the next day got one that told me nearly all the rest were out as well. I emailed them to ask for a cancellation, and after emailing twice and waiting a couple weeks someone finally got back to me and said they would refund me $26. My order was $30. Now $4 isn't a big deal, but I don't want to waste money when I'm not getting anything! I have yet to hear back from them and get my money back. I have ordered a couple times with no problem, but this cam as a surprise. I don't think I'll order again...
After a second order I experienced the same situation. Original delivery 2 days but changes to 5 more days from original delivery date. Causes me to miss gift dates.
I bought a shank of yarn at a good price, and it arrived quickly. However, I probably would have bought elsewhere if I'd known they didn't spin the yarn into a ball. Now I have to work with it still in the shank, which will be a pain...
Just simply exceptional service, but better yet, Fabric is as close as possible to a small image. I couldn't believe my eyes. It superseded my expectations. This is my new place to shop. I have a fashion show coming up, and this most certainly met my sketches. Variety, colour, price, and delivery. You have it all. Bravo.
My wife ordered and paid for fabric from this company. Fabric.com's preferred carrier UPS lost the package. Instead of Fabric.com doing the right thing and refunding my wife her money, they told my wife to file a claim with UPS. This is not a normal business practice. The business standard is, they should be filing a claim directly with their preferred carrier, UPS in this case. Fabric.com should be refunding my wife her money. They will not answer my emails concerning this issue.
Answer: Hawthorne Threads is great.
Answer: Im using them for almost a year but no more... they keep sending me 25 % discount almost every week to gain me back... NO WAY! Yeah i order atleast 2,000 each order... total loss for them... until now they still awe me money for the fleece fabric i order long time ago, when i order it it has 50 yards of it, after 10 days they gonna tell me its out of stock, waited for replacement, until now no replacement... i got a lot of horrible experience with this company,,, dirty fabric that looks like somebody use it to rub on their body... really really sucks!
Answer: My business is making curtains. I have dealt with this company for the past two years and I think the customer service department is doing the best they can with trying to making it look like the company has it together. They do not have it together at all. There is no excuse with the volume of business that they do that they cannot afford a system that can tell you immediately an item is out of stock. I cannot tell you how many times I have purchased fabric from this company only to learn three days later that it is not in stock. Then they hold the rest of your order for another three to four days after you answer an email telling them to continue to ship the rest of the order. I have had fabric arrive to me balled up in a box that they didn't even bother to put in a bag, I have had fabric with shoe prints on it in the middle of the bolt or pieces of fabric missing from a ten yard order that were cut out of the middle of the ten yards. I am trying to eventually not use this company at all anymore as they don't have a clue as to how to treat customers or just don't care. The only problem is they have run all of the mom and pop online fabric stores out of business with lower prices (this was maybe two years ago) and the smaller businesses couldn't keep up with them so they closed. Now that they have the market they have raised their prices because they have very little competition out there. If you leave a good review for this company you are one in a million that have had a pleasurable experience. Just because you bought from them once and don't have a complaint means nothing, consider yourself lucky.
Answer: It's a US website, so they'll take the money in US dollars, but if they take orders from Australia your bank or payment processor will have to convert the currency according to the current exchange rate and I think they may also charge a fee for doing this.
Answer: Thank you so much for your inquiry. Please feel free to send your contact information to edhr@fabric.com, and I would be more than happy to forward it to the appropriate people.
Answer: You would have been better off contacting fabric.com directly. It doesn't look like they even know about this website.
Answer: I would call or email them, including as much detail as you can... order #, what fabrics were ordered and approximately the time of the order. Have never had this happen to me from Fabric.com, have from another online site and was lucky that I got the help I needed. Good Luck.
Answer: As a customer of theirs, almost an ex-customer of theirs at this point, I can honestly say they have made absolutely no changes for the better in my case. They have paid absolutely no attention to any of my issues with them, which is why I'm about to become a former customer.
Fabric.com has a rating of 2 stars from 380 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Fabric.com most frequently mention customer service, business days and credit card. Fabric.com ranks 113th among Fabric sites.
