I bought a FP phone for a homeless friend. Since he has extremely limited funds I turned off the automatic refill off. To do that I had to "deposit" with them $5. After the first month my friend turned off the $6 enhanced voice option. From that time on he was unable to make calls. He still should have had his 500 free texts. Texting died out in short order and he received a notice he had to buy more data before he could use the phone. I called FP up to find out what happened to the free 200 minutes and 500 texts. They told me their voice and text ran on the internet and when your free 500 MB of data was used up you had to buy more to use your "free phone and texts. By this time they had already confiscated the $5 I had to deposit with them. When I called to complain I was not allowed to speak with any supervisory personnel. They refunded the $5 they stole but refuse to reimburse me for the phone until they got it back. They promised to send a call tag for shipping but 3 weeks later it's not here. If someone reads this and still buys from these scammers beware! Their whole system in still in beta. That means a bug factory. I'm filing a complaint with BBB as well as the Washington Att. Gen. This outfit is nothing more than a pack of thieves. If they were close enough I'd find one of them and shake them upside down until my money came out of their thieving pockets.
FreedomPop is the best value in wireless out there right now. The free plans are great, and the value just goes up from there. Ive been using FP for 2+ years now with NO PROBLEMS. DEFINITELY CHECK THEM OUT.
So I thought a free monthly service so I could have a backup phone for emergencies.
THEY charged me $45 for NOTHING!
And when I asked for a refund THEY said NO! And then cancelled the account!
What kind of business doesn't give refunds for a service you DO NOT want especially when they start charging for crazy things!
1. You have to become a VIP member (3.99/mo) to speak with a representative, but even after upgrading you'll get put on hold for about 15 mins then it will just hang up on you. (Very hard to get help for anything)
2. Regular voice/phone services uses data. Therefore, this is false advertisement and talk mins are not actually unlimited. (1mb/1min or 500mb = 500min)
3. If you have less than 100MB of data left, your service will get suspended. So you can't call out or use the data that is leftover. (1GB really means 900MB is usable)
4. You have to use their app to use voice/text services. The app is very buggy and crashes in the middle of calls often.
5. The advertised pricing is not up to date. Real Pricing with usable data:
$19.99 900mb which means less than 900 mins available after using the internet a few times.
This horrid company sold me a "refurbished" iphone with a 30 day money back guarantee, and battery was 79% depleted. Within 2 days I complained and requested a refund. They assured me that a good-working replacement iphone with a good battery would be shipped. The replacement was worse than the original. After many, many emails I finally received an email acknowledgement that I was entitled to a refund, and that a prepaid return would be issued. After returning the phone I was informed that the length of time had elapsed and they would not issue a refund. So, they have the phone, and I have nothing. To add insult to injury, they proceeded to charge my credit card for a year's service, months after I made the return. Not only do I not have a phone but there is no phone number associated with my account. I have hundreds of emails from FreedomPoop, many of which contradict previous ones. This company is clueless where it pertains to cell phones or the public.
Deceptive business practices. Fraudulent charges, false claims, inferior service, complete lack of support. This is an abomination of a cell phone provider. It is a cell phone provider from hell. It's fine to vent here, but the Attorney General of California needs to be contacted with your pertinent information.

I use my cell very little and this service is perfect for me! I get great AT&T LTE service here in the midwest. The app is good with no ad pop ups. Great free service!
I SIGNED UP FOR FREE PLAN. STARTED USING APRIL 15TH WHEN HOTSPOT RECEIVED, AFTER USING FOR 20 MINUTES THEY TOPPED ME UP $20 HIT MY ACCOUNT UNAUTHORIZED. THEN WHEN I TURNED OFF TOP UP THEY HIT ME WITH ANOTHER CHARGE OF $6.99. THIS IS A SCAM DON'T DO IT
If you have been charged FP fees on your cc and can't get charges removed by FP and you continue to get additional charges applied to your cc every month, I highly recommend you contact your cc company asap and ask to speak with a supervisor about fraudulent cc charges being applied to your account and that you need to get it resolved today. Make sure that you have all bank statements/cc statements showing that you are being charged even though you have tried to close the FP account but have been unsuccessful. They will call FP while your on the line and try to resolve the issue, however you already know it's impossible to contact them, so you have that ridding in your favor. Tell the cc supervisor that you want a total refund applied back to your account for services not agreed to and that you want the FP auto transaction fees to be killed so it doesn't happen in the future again. This should help you get your money back faster and prevent FP in taking your money without your're approval. Good luck
Stay away from this company they will not help you and be very careful and watch your cc account as they will over charge you for services not ordered and you'll have a very hard time trying to cancel because they make it almost impossible to do so. Best advise go anywhere but freedompop and run away as fast as you can. It's a CON
I wish I saw all of the reviews before signing up, I was charged multiple unauthorized charges, some of them they refuse to refund!
They charged me three times for a mobile hotspot device.
I purchased a Freedom Pop mobile hotspot device as they had advertised at $19.99 which included a free trial. Upon checking my bank account after the purchase I found three $19.99 charges on my account from Freedompop. I tried to call them but you get recordings and no one ever answers, You are unable to contact them by phone. So, I emailed them, initiated a support ticket and also messaged them on their Facebook account. Days passed and never heard anything despite my contacting them again. As a result I called my bank and disputed two of the charges and my bank filed a chargeback claim. Still no word from Freedompop. Then I decided to cancel my order altogether and asked that they cancel it and refund my money. They finally just got back to me today and told me they would not refund the charges as disputing the charge with my bank was in violation of the terms and conditions of Freedompop. So, I am out three $19.99 charges totaling $59.97. I guess this is how that company makes money, by outright stealing money from customers. Before I ordered through them I did do my homework and researched reviews which were both good and bad but I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt and try their service. What a mistake. I gave them one star because you can't leave 0 stars on a review.
I love this service... I've never dropped a call or not received one because of crappy service the service is great and I would highly recommend everyone get and use this service
Great service and great customer service! I was iff when they said Free. But it really is free if thats the plan you choose. I have it on 2 phones and both work great!
Worst mobile company ever, took money from my wife's account without authorisation.
FreedomPop is a rip off. Stay away.
FreedomPop gives me great mobile Internet service at an unbelievable price.
I paid $20 initially to get my Franklin R850 wireless hotspot device (on sale), then I downgraded to the free plan and dropped all the services. I paid an extra $10 to turn off "auto-top up," which is a little sneaky, but oh well. I hooked up my account with 10+ freedompop friends and now I'll been getting 1GB/month of free mobile Internet service for years after only spending a grand total of $30 one time only. I think this is an amazing value!
Who wants to deal with those monopolistic cable and DSL companies? My brothers each pay more than $80 every month for cable internet service, how insane is that?!? Sure they get more GB of data per month than I do, but you can buy gobs of data on FreedomPop too, if you're willing to shell out a little money. You'll never get dinged with disconnect/connect fees if you decide to move around, unlike cable/DSL.
FreedomPop is great for people who are mobile, living life on the road. Good luck getting cable/DSL companies to give you any service at all if you tell them you live in a van down by the river for the next month or so, as long as good weather holds out. LOL! FreedomPop simply works almost anywhere I go, even when visiting other states or moving from one place to another. I highly recommend it!
So the commercial says a lot of attracting information encouraging you to signup but the customer service says another thing. It apparent the free internet is 119.00 not free.
To chek up, i try one week free service/20$/, it was no bad, but when i paid 60$ i do not have service. When i call or do massages just stupped answers or questions
I thought I would save some money on internet service so I gave Freedompop a try without reading reviews... BIG MISTAKE! I ordered a Netgear 6100 D router and modem and noticed I was charged for two even though the sales person said I would not be charged for both. I went ahead and cancelled my credit card and one transaction since I had only ordered one. I received both units then found out my computer has no wifi interface. After about 80 emails they sent me a RMA# to send back the unit I paid for then after receiving it, they refuse to send me my refund as promised since I said something to my financial institution and cancelled the card. Could not steal anymore I guess! You can't talk to anyone unless you pay $5.99 for "premium service" then as you can read from other complaints they hang up on you, so, I did not spend the money. This is the rudest bunch of thieves and swindlers I have ever encountered. I filed a complaint with Ripoff Report, filed two complaints with Federal Trade Commission and sent registered letters to the owner, the person in charge of "customer experience," and one of their board members and of course no response from anyone ay company headquarters. I hope the complaints to FTC does some good. Everyone with a bad experience with this bunch of thieves and swindlers should file a complaint with FTC and Ripoff Report and maybe an end will come to their theft and abusing peoples credit cards, overcharging, charging on closed accounts and telling people they will upgrade their phones then keep them when they are sent in..
Freedompop markets it's service as free but beware. Everything is an add on that costs money, even voicemail. That in itself isn't so bad, EXCEP that the website is not user friendly and there is no comprehensive account page which shows all the services that you're being charged for. Services will be charged to your account without you realizing that they have been added.
I was signed up for the free plan, but still kept getting charged close to 20.00 dollars each month and I couldn't figure out why. When I looked at my account page, it indicated that I was on the free plan and owed 0.00 dollars. BUT there is a separate services tab that you must go to if you want to see what add-on services are being charged on your account, and another separate international tab that lists any international plans which can appear on your bill.
I had not signed up for any add-on services or international plans, however, I had looked at the options on the website. Apparently, if you click on a service to get more information, there is no option to leave the page without signing up. It's deceptive and sneaky how they add services you don't want or need onto your account.
After you're hit with all kinds of charges you didn't expect, it's almost impossible to get in touch with a person to handle a billing dispute. I tried three times to talk to a billing person but as soon as I hit the prompt to ask a billing question the phone disconnected.
I would never recommend Freedompop to anyone. They are deceptive, add on costly services without your knowledge and there is no customer service. Freedompop is a fraud.
They responded to my review with the same BS they emailed me with. I TRIED to resolve the issue with them before disputing the charge with my bank and they kept telling me the same thing, that I have to refuse the 2nd phone. I told them MANY time in our email exchange that I NEVER GOT THE 2nd PHONE and they NEVER told me that they would look into it. They just kept saying that I needed to refuse the 2nd phone for my refund. How am I supposed to get my refund if they keep making me go in circles? I got fed up after about 3 weeks of emails and disputed the transaction. Keep in mind that I ONLY disputed the transaction for the 2nd phone that was NEVER SHIPPED.
FreedomPop has HORRIBLE customer service and they will not refund you anything, even for accidental double orders. I accidentally ordered a phone twice because their website wasn't refreshing. They wouldn't cancel the order and said I needed to refuse the 2nd phone when it ships, then I would get a refund. Well, while I did have 2 tracking numbers, only 1 phone showed up. I never refused the 2nd phone because it didn't come at all! So I disputed the 2nd charge with my bank and they reversed it. In response, FreedomPop canceled my account and banned me from ever opening one with them again. So I am being punished for their lack of communication and lack of proper customer service (I work in customer service management). I have reported them to the BBB, also.
Steer clear of this company. While the service is OK when it works, their customer service and their TOS both need some work to cater to the customer's needs better. The fact that you have to pay an extra $5.99 for good customer service should be a BIG RED FLAG. Customer service should be free to all. This company is a scam.
Answer: I know of three telephone #s for "Freedompop": 800-228-9207 888-743-8107 855-703-5785 If you can't reach a representative at any of these #s (I very recently had success with 888-743-8107 and they helped me with my billing issue), GO TO FREEDOMPOP.COM AND LOG INTO YOUR ACCOUNT (hope you remember your password!). THEN, CLICK ON (or, just hover over) "MY ACCOUNT" ATOP PAGE From its drop-down list, THEN CHOOSE "ACCOUNT SETTINGS" At the bottom of that page, you should see "DEACTIVATE ACCOUNT." (Click on it and follow subsequent instructions)
Answer: Because they rip you of with small amounts (on a monthly basis), so many don't realize, once you do it's too late, and for the last charge you dispute it, but you don't care wasting time to report this... And those who are really on top and make sure not to be overbilled, they make sure to tell you that they are selling all their to a new carrier, so they get rid of you!
Answer: No you cant, they are garbage, not worth wasting your time on
Answer: Get away from these people soon as possible! You are going to have to change your credit card soon.
