BEWARE! IF YOU BUY INTO THEIR SCAM, WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD BILLING FOREVER. I purchased a "prepaid" plan at Target (1Gb data/month, unlimited talk & text) in November 2018. Upon activation, I accepted a free 30-day upgrade trial with the assurance I would be able to cancel the free upgrade and return to my plan without penalty. Before the free upgrade trial was up, I tried to cancel the upgrade, but there was no option to go back to my prepaid plan in their drop down menu (only the free plan with less service than I paid for). Since you cannot talk to a real person after signing up without paying extra, I submitted an online request to cancel the upgrade trial and return to my prepaid plan. I got this response: "By now you have assigned the plan $0.00 due every 6 months and you also have active the subscription FreedomPop Phone Premier Semi-Annual for $ 26.94 monthly, plus taxes: $ 3.21. Due to our policy once the renewal charge was applied to your account we won't be able to process the refund."
My credit card was charged for the upgraded service. I submitted multiple complaints asking for a refund. Nothing. I complained to the BBB. They didn't help. I finally called my credit card company and had them reverse the charges and block FP from trying to make those charges again. FreedomPop then INACTIVATED MY ACCOUNT because going to the credit card company "violates their terms of service". FP refused to refund my prepaid amount or fulfill their 1-year service obligation I had already paid for through Target. No phone service. Money lost. Lesson learned.
NOW OVER A YEAR LATER (1/31/20) THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD $53.10!
The FreedomPop annual plan is ideal for me. 50.00 per year with 1000 sms and 1000 VOIP minutes is without doubt the best deal in wireless. I used the AT&T variant and network and voice quality is excellent. I purchased the premier add on which enables voice mail with speech to text and rollover of up to 500mb per month of rollover data. For those on WiFi at work or at home most of the time with need to make a few calls, posts, or texts the service is for you if AT&T coverage is solid in your area. The company has never charged me for anything since my initial purchase and I couldn't be happier with the money I'm saving. One caveat_ After switching from unlocked Moto G4 to AT&T branded LG V20 (both work great on FreedomPop with AT&T SIM) I found that the V20 will not update. The solution is to borrow a friend's AT&T SIM or keep an AT&T prepaid card around and activate a 2 dollar per day plan AND add a 1 dollar 100 mb data add-on from the menu. The deposit to fill the prepaid account initially is 10 dollars but I got all updates to November security updates. I simply cannot say enough about my positive experience with FreedomPop. Excellent alternative to prepaid or costly long-term contracts.
I cancelled my service with them two weeks before the trial period was over. I was pissed later that month when I was charged $24.99.
The network is good but many time we disappointed due to the weather. But overall you are providing good services.
Great service great experience would recommend to everyone I don't get service where I live but freedom pop works here
I have been pleased with this phone service from FreedomPop. I have had it for 6 months and I have no complaints.
Excellent service as long all directions are followed and the apn is entered correctly. Innovative solutions. Priced right and reliable service.
I don't know where to begin... I have heard nothing but lies out of FreedomPop. It started on day one, September 1,2018. I made the big mistake of ordering from them a device for internet service. Afterwards I did some more digging for information then decided to cancel that order. The same day. That's where the trouble began. You can not find anybody to talk to! It "sagest" you go to here... after you go there it tells you to go someplace else... you go there and it tells you to go to the first place you went to. A circle and you never get to anybody or site to cancel. After finally finding a phone number and calling you get the lies. They started there. I call my bank they tell me what to do. I waited a day or two call FreedomPop back because the charge to my account has not been removed. The bank has to continue until FreedomPop tells them to remove it... which the never do. FreedomPop says as long as there is a dispute filed with the bank they can do nothing to my account. I get with the bank they say there is no dispute filed. Okey... I tell FreedomPop who then puts the blame on PayPal. PayPal says same as bank. FreedomPop says upon digging in their files they see where a refund was issued on September 3. I get with PayPal who says and shows me that there is no refund from FreedomPop on file. I've lost count on how many lies FreedomPop has given me.
FreedomPop is a no good place to deal with. Not at all. I would hate to think what would happen if I had bought then something happened to the device...?! Mercy... the courts would have to be involved. Which may be where this goes.
Please,. DO NOT DEAL WITH FREEDOMPOP IN ANYWAY! If they treat their customers like they treat me (which I'm sure they do) their product is no good. A No Good Company... Managed by No Good; s... with No Good products. Don't Deal with FreedomPop!
Bought a phone on groupon for freedompop Dec 2 2014 and still today Dec 28 it doesnt work, the worst reception ever, and let me tell you about their support, or lack of. I have emailed *******@freedompop over 10x and NOT 1 has been responded to. And yes I have also waited hours on hold. When I first got the phone it wasnt in their data banks and took 3 hours on the phone to get hooked up, doesnt work at all when I try to use it outside my house. The reception is so bad, I sound like a craklin robot. And NO ONE will help. They just dont give a $#*! about their customers. Im a disabled vet just needing a phone for emergencies and this has been the worst purchase ever. ZERO stars or NEG stars is what they deserve. I have never had such BAD customer support. I would HIGHLY recommend you DONT get involved with this company. The only support I have received is on their Facebook page and that takes days to get back to me. I literally HATE this company DO NOT JOIN FREEDOMPOP or you will hate yourself
I Love FreedomPop because it is so affordable. I tell everybody about FreedomPop. I would tell everybody to switch to FreedomPop.
I purchased a refurbished cell phone from Freedom Pop and a couple of weeks later the wallpaper on my screen got very light and distorted. The pics from the camera and the rest of the wallpapers that were stored on the phone were all so lightened and distorted that you could not see what the icons were making it hard to use the phone properly. When I called them to report this, the rep just told me they would replace my phone and that all I had to do was return it in the same box it came in when they shipped it to me. Before I shipped it, I did some research on the Freedom Pop website regarding the return of an item and found that I needed an RMA number to make sure the phone was received and posted to the right account.
The rep on the phone did not even mention and RMA #. When I tried to call them back to get the RMA #, The automated voice response said that if I wanted phone support it would cost me $5.99 a month and would not let me speak to a rep unless I agreed to the charge which would be charged to my debit card right away, then the call would be transferred to a representative. I hung up the call, went online and opened a trouble ticket asking them to send me an RMA #. Their response was, I had to wait 2 - 3 days for them to respond to me with the RMA #. In the meantime, there is a 30 day period to return and item back to Freedom Pop. In other words, you have to return your item within the first 30 days upon receiving it. By this time, I only had a few more days left before the 30 days expired. It's been 3 days and I still haven't received their email with the RMA #. I don't understand what these people are up to but looking at the other reviews, it does not look good.
Yeah you get what you pay for. I had it because I used my work landline for all of my personal and business calls and only really needed it for the random evening call or weekend call. For a couple of years their VOIP mostly worked. HOWEVER, over time their product(s) have considerably worsened instead of improving if that is even possible. For example, their VM app used to work fine. Someone called, left a VM and you listened to it. Then they "upgraded" to junk called Visual Voicemail. And this alleged improvement would not let you actually listen to the voicemail-instead it is "transcribed" to a horrible translation of what the person said-with very little transcribed making any sense whatsoever. And thus it didn't work and yet they charged an add on fee for something that didn't work. Additionally their data usage tracking was utterly random-there were time that I would turn on my phone for 5 mins. And turn it off and use up 50 mbs of data magically. Other times I would leave my phone on all day and use 10 mbs of data. And I was only using this service for calls, texts and VM-no other apps. And early on when I had the service the first couple of years 5 years ago, they actually had non-horrible phone support. Then that went away like the regular VM. So for every question you would have to submit a ticket to be answered within 48 hrs. According to their site-but often it would take a week to get even a response. And finally, yes there are all kinds of add on fees and taxes that are charged without your consent. Over the last year or so things go so bad I couldn't take it anymore and decided that even with access to my work landline I would ditch them and their balky phone and frankly going with Cricket for a flat $30/mo all inclusive on the ATT network is worth it to avoid all of the Freedom Poop hassles and idiocy and insanity.
In November of 2016 I purchased 2 Wifi hotspots, Mifi® 500 4G LTE by Novatel Wireless from the company FreedomPop.
I also purchased their Premium 4G plan for both devices as well.
For several months I had exceptional service, that worked fairly well in most environments until July/August of 2017. The service deteriorated to 3G to only displaying 1 out of 4 signal bars. Rendering the device to not be able to surf the web or even download files due to extremely poor speed.
As of December 8th of 2017 I filed a complaint with my dissatisfaction of the service via email. I had previously called their company several times with absolutely no answer. Even going as far as to make a visit to their office in West Los Angeles during normal business hours on a Tuesday at 3 pm with no one even being there at the premises.
As of December 11, a representative, Christian P, finally responded:
"It is our understanding that you are unable to get support and that your device only shows 1 Bar of signal. I'm sorry to know this situation but I'll be glad to help you out."
Furthermore giving me the same number I called several times with no answer.
Another attempt to contact them was made December 26th in which I spent exactly 30 minutes on the line with absolutely no answer.
I was finally able to reach them December 27th, being told that one of the devices was suspended due to them not being able to bill the account, however the bill was already paid for December and not due until January. I had placed a temporary block on the account due to lack of communication on their end.
I have tried to withdraw my credit-card information as well as my wife's, however the system has kept all the information. They claim to be no contract, no commitment & able to cancel anytime, but have been nothing but fraudulent the entire duration of this episode.
I have been a customer for two years now and have been ignoring several issues. Now I have to start talking to the public. At the end of March, my credit card was expiring and so I updated with a new card from a major bank. After several "errors" the card was accepted and the hold charges showed up on my card account. The next day a charge for my monthly billing showed up on my credit card account but when I logged in to my FP account it showed that my account was suspended due to failed credit card. I had 8.54GB of rolled data the day before my billing cycle ended. I opened a ticket and the account was reinstated but my rolled data was zeroed out. I complained but got the run around until I opened a complaint with the BBB. I saw that the Feb-Mar monthly data allocation did not get added and it took two weeks for Customer Service to admit that their system failed and lost last months data allocation. They then added that it would NOT be added to my balance and they close the ticket. I think they can bamboozle the Better Business Bureau.
I think they will do this again by claiming my credit card is a debit card or a prepaid card. I too have seen extra charges on my card which were already in the main bill. Last year I went without my (paid for) premium voicemail service because they kept jerking me around saying I need to uninstall and reinstall my app on the phone. This went on for 5 months until I raised a stink and then they admitted that it was a server side issue and it would take some more time to fix.
Like the other commenter on this page says, they will try to take revenge for posting and delete my services again. I expect this to happen and then I will take my complaint to the next level.
The Consumer Protection Department of the State Attorney General's Office needs to take a closer look at Freedompop's business practices.
Okay but not always reliable. We are discontinuing the service.
Answer: I know of three telephone #s for "Freedompop": 800-228-9207 888-743-8107 855-703-5785 If you can't reach a representative at any of these #s (I very recently had success with 888-743-8107 and they helped me with my billing issue), GO TO FREEDOMPOP.COM AND LOG INTO YOUR ACCOUNT (hope you remember your password!). THEN, CLICK ON (or, just hover over) "MY ACCOUNT" ATOP PAGE From its drop-down list, THEN CHOOSE "ACCOUNT SETTINGS" At the bottom of that page, you should see "DEACTIVATE ACCOUNT." (Click on it and follow subsequent instructions)
Answer: Because they rip you of with small amounts (on a monthly basis), so many don't realize, once you do it's too late, and for the last charge you dispute it, but you don't care wasting time to report this... And those who are really on top and make sure not to be overbilled, they make sure to tell you that they are selling all their to a new carrier, so they get rid of you!
Answer: No you cant, they are garbage, not worth wasting your time on
Answer: Get away from these people soon as possible! You are going to have to change your credit card soon.
