Due to an accident that left me with limited finger dexterity, I needed a shoe without shoe strings. The Gravity Defyer fit the bill in that it has Velcro straps plus it's super comfortable and lightweight - yet another plus feature.
After wearing these hiking boots a few times ( more than the return period) I started to experience extreme back pain, called customer service, they had no tech specification on the drop from heel to toe, seems they are trying to hide this info. The guy didn't even know what to call it, refused to take a comment to his company. I think it must be a deep drop ( over 11 cm). Most good shoe manufacturers will give you that information. Suggest you not but these if you have any back issues. Wearing these is like wearing high heels to hike. Not advised.
I have big feet, I bought a size 11, but 11 doesn't seem to come in wide, no matter where I buy shoes, but that would probably help this situation. I wore them a day, first with the corrective insoles, but had to take them out hallway through the day for more foot room. They hurt my feet more than my old shoes. In my right foot, my pinky is squished and the tongue wore on the top of my foot and bruised it. Then the left foot, it causes awful cramping in my arch. I need slip resistant for work. For some reason, they have an attachment on the heal part that stick out about 1/4 inch off the bottom. That part is slip resistant. But I nearly fell a couple times, as the toe isn't really slip resistant at all, though it appears to be. Plus, they're not really rockers but rather just fat soles. So I thought, I'll clean up the bottom of the soles and send them back, but after only one day of wear, the tag on the tongue is sweat stained, the lining on the inside is a bit worn, and they already stink (I don't even usually have an issue of bad foot odor) and I thought there's no way they'll consider them to be "like new" and send me a refund or exchange like promised all over their site. So I'm mad I'm out a hundred bucks for shoes I can't wear. And mind you, buying new shoes was a really big deal for me, as a hundred dollars is kinda a large expense for my broke self, and I've been putting off buying a good pair for about 2 years now. I used to always but sketchers slip resitant shape ups, but they seem to not exist anymore, so I thought these would be a good replacement. So wrong. I literally had better luck buying something similar for $8 off of wish.
My husband decided to try a pair. At my urging, He ordered a pair of "gdefy EXTORA II. This was after really looking and reading through the catalogs do he even called to see what the company person recommended for his special needs. He has Rheumatoid Arthritis and his feet are becoming very sensitive. He received his first pair in about 5 weeks? WHAT! They state 30 day free return-we didn't even get them for 42 days! Anyway, he started wearing the shoes and after about 2 wks they started making a cracking noise when he walked. It got worse & worse so he called the co they said they would send another pair. They arrived in 5 days! WHAT! He wore the new pair for maybe 4 days and they started the cracking noise. OK, my husband is still working-he needs good shoes, on his feet all day-he hurts ALL THE TIME- and YA, he has very "LIMITED" patience. He was DONE WITH THE SHOES AND THE COMPANY! I feel we were really "Taken in by the Company and their Claims we'd MISLEADING and FALSE! WE ARE BOTH GREATLY DISAPPOINTED. Done.
I have been in the brand name retail shoe business for over 50 years, I've seen products come and go, NOTHING is for EVERYONE and complaining about the fit of shoes you order is ludicrous, shoes MUST be fitted in a store by trained salespeople, PERIOD. That being said, now that I'm retired I work out almost daily, walking is a big part of that workout and up to wearing my Gravity Defyer shoes I wore New Balance mostly because of my need for a 4E width. My Gravity Defyers fit EXACTLY like my NB, I wear a 13 EEEE in NB, a 13 XW in Gravity Defyer. As far as my review these shoes are on a par (price wise) with the better NB products. The comfort for me is slightly better, knee pain is gone, toe cramping is gone, it took a 10 minute walk to adjust to the feel as these have a slightly thicker heel than my NB, but after that I don't even notice it. The different insole (high arch/low arch) is very smart, I prefer the high arch (again, a professional fitter will help you decide) it is the BEST company insert (included in your shoe purchase-there are some "aftermarket" inserts that you pay extra for that are slightly better) I think, if you have "issues" these shoes should be seriously considered, they are an option I am very happy I tried. DEFINITELY worth the price, I would NOT buy them WITHOUT first trying them on in a REAL store, NOT a "big box" store but a store where you can be SIZED and FITTED and you'll KNOW if it's right for you. It CERTAINLY was for me.
Now I go back to my favorite shoes Hoka one one, I won't change them, number 1 for me, sorry for all the inconvenience.
The GDefy athletic shoes had been recommended to me by an acquaintance - and I heard their commercials on Sirius. If you Google the non-sponsored reviews of best athletic shoes for plantar fasciitis, GDefy doesn't rank anywhere but i figured I'd give them a try anyway. I called the store near Stroudsburg, PA and the one in Brooklyn, NY that carries them and both stores did not restock them often as they're not big sellers. So I decided to order them online. I chose two different styles/colors in two different sizes because different reviewers had different opinions on fit. With the same discount it totaled about $518. But at least two pairs were going back as far as I was concerned. Ordered. Received confirmation of order. 7 days later I still heard nothing so I called. CSR told me that the order was being "held" because it might have been fraudulent (I'm presuming the total concerned them). So, when were they going to tell me? She didn't know. Were they ever going to contact me to see if the order was real? She didn't know. Essentially they were going to wait for me to call them (although they had my contact info) - which is the worst sort of Customer Service. She said she could talk to her a manager who approved it for release considering I called but had I not called, it seems the charge would have hit but the never would have been shipped. I cancelled the entire order. I saw my podiatrist this morning and GDefy is not on her go-to list for helpful support of knees or feet. I've now ordered her recommendation and already got the ship notice. Shame on GDefy. If you flag an order for a stupid reason then don't stick the flag in a pile and do nothing about it. Good customer service requires a little bit of work - and you guys did absolutely none.
