Always great food! I like how they separate the food into individual paper bags which makes cooking and figuring out portions a breeze. I also like the big card they use for each meal. My 10 year old and 14 year old's both can make a dinner from start to finish without help (although I do stay in the kitchen while the stove/oven is on;-).
Cheating & Fooling New Customer Last week I have seen their offer for new subscription for $21.96 for 4 meals in a week, but NO WHERE they have mentioned that the subscription will be doubled from 2nd week onwards. They have charged $45.46 for 2nd week. After checking with their call centre support, he said that they have added shipping, handling, packaging, etc? So why its not been cleared in their communication on 1st instance only, why kepy all hidden and cheating/fooling customers? Pathetic experience
Be cautious! I received an email link form Hello Fresh for a trial or their product, but unbeknownst to me with this trial I also signed up to receive weekly shipments of their product. Yes, I imagine it was somewhere in small type that this would happen, BUT it was definitely not upfront and made clear that with my trial I was committing to weekly shipments! I thought I was just sampling it to see IF I would like to use their service! The sample box I ordered was not even food that I eat! I ordered food that I do not eat because I had guests staying with me that would eat this kind of food. Ie: pork, pasta, carbs. This is food I do not eat... now my guests are gone and I have a box of food arriving that I will not eat! In the trash it will go! I have now CANCELLED my stealth subscription!
BE CAUTIOUS OF THE SMALL PRINT.
My experience with hellofresh is not a good one after signing up for hellofresh I had canceled a week ago after going through those many steps today another box showed up I had to cancel a second time I got charged for the box I didn't want I called and asked if they can do anything they said no the account is canceled as of right now just watch out the company's pretty sneaky if you cancel double check to make sure it's canceled you're not going to get charged another box
When i go back to the box service I will not be using this company I recommend other meal prep companies
A few family members have been using hello fresh and highly recommend it so I thought we would give it a try. A family member gave us a discount code for 60% off. Great! I set up my account and entered the code. 60% off was applied and it looked reasonable £20 odd for 3 meals for 4 people. Sounds quite the bargain doesn't it? That is until you have already entered your card details and choose your meals. Only 1 of the options I was given didn't cost any extra and that was literally bangers and mash. 1 of the meals was a Greek gyros (incase you don't know that is meat, sauce and chips in a wrap) it stated that it didn't come with the wraps but you could purchase these as an extra side? It is part of the meal you can't have gyros without the wraps! Most of the options my children wouldn't eat so it would be a complete waste of money. Really not family friendly, very overpriced and rubbish options. I tried to cancel and it did the usual trying to convince me to stay I just clicked through it all. Got to the end and it told me I'll still have to pay for "my last box" I haven't had any boxes and I'm pretty sure with everything you get a 14 day cooling off period! I won't be paying a penny to your rip off company. I really struggle to see how anyone would pay you anything.
Hi- you have reached SiteJabber/ HelloFresh USA. Please forward your questions to HelloFresh in the country you are in. Thanks
You're honestly better just shopping smartly and going to Aldi, save a lot, or other stores that are lower in price and shopping deals, than to do this. I mean convince is awesome but Jesus it is EXPENSIVE if you really think about it and add it up!

It’s very expensive

Saw an ad where Hell Fresh offered a fifty percent off for delivered meals. We thought we would give it a try and I log onto the official site. I proceed to fill out the pertinent information including credit card info which is charged immediately. I attempt to pick my meal plan which is automatically set at 4 days a week. I pick my meal plan and then at check out I notice that there are meals that I didn't select. I make the changes and try to confirm my order and it reverts back to my original order? After trying this three times I decided that this isn't worth my time. I get an agent on live help and attempt to cancel my account. I get the standard shady company rhetoric like she doesn't hear what I am asking. Instead she's telling me I'm going to see if I can fix your order. I tell her no, I want to cancel my account and again she says I'll fix this. After eight minutes, I give her my formal request to cancel our meals. The agent tells me sorry she is not allowed to cancel memberships. So I end with so I'm paying for food that I won't eat and she tells me "sorry." This is a low end company beware of giving them your credit card info!

Stay away

I cancelled all orders on the application and I didn't know that by default never-ending orders are scheduled WITHOUT my consent. On the application, it showed for the next month only and I cancelled it. Fast forward I get a notification that my next shipment is arriving in 24 hours. I called the customer service and they said that there is nothing they can do to stop the shipment nor charging me for an order that I don't want. I told them that's a mistake because I cancelled future orders. Not to mention that early in the morning I called to close the account, because there is no way I can close the account on the app nor remove my credit card info. But once again there was nothing they could do for me, so I'm paying for a service that I don't want. I haven't received an email with confirmation that I cancelled the account and even worse I'm not able to remove my credit card information. Message that Hello Fresh is sending "whether you like it or not we have you as customer, you cannot cancel unless you talk to us, and more importantly we have your payment info to charge you up front!" Horrible!
First order missing one 10oz chicken and one 12oz chicken. They offered a refund. I wanted my chicken. They couldn't do that. So now I have to go to the store and buy chicken to make the recipes. I thought that was the point of ordering food.

Very dissatisfied I received coupons from fab kids for 16 free meals received 4 of them in june they took $116 out my acc aug 12 I called aug 13 I was unaware of their messy business the compromised and agreed to sen 1/2 of my money back within 5 to 10 business days off course I didn't receive it I myself own a business its not about the money its the principal
I was buying hello fresh regularly, I decided that I was bored of the meals and put my account on hold. However they continued to dmsend boxes of food, I was away for a week when it first happened and I got home to it rotting in my driveway. Even after Putting my account on hold they still took money from my debit card. I canceled that card and rang my back to stop giving he'll of reach authority. I reached out to them via their chat and asked them to please stop sending boxes and to cancel my account. I told then I had put my subscription on hold. They told me they could only refund half the money and that they would send the next box to a food charity, whatever. They didn't, it still arivved at my house. I am now being harrased! Absolutely harrassed by their debt agency for money, calls and emails. You are not getting any money. I canceled my subscription. I double checked that no more boxes where coming to my address. Please $#*! off a leave me alone
My first order contained a menu with green beans and a poblano (like a green pepper) the beans were soggy and blackened and too rotten to use: the poblano was rotten on the top half so I had to substitute with a green pepper. If they could do as good as their marketing and packaging, they could be world class. My second order was missing a recipe and a vegetable so I unsubscribed. I may give them a second chance but so far CHEF'S PLATE is sending fresh food with similar format. Sorry no photo, my wife and I are seniors - just found this site - I love reviews - keeps them on their toes. M Garratt Kelowna

We tought Hellofresh was a good way to save time, it lost us a ton of time et we never received any food from them. It litteraly have given us headache after headache et we keep waiting for costumer service to get back to us, wich they never do. The first week the box never came and after two days, we had no news from hellofresh and called them, only then did they told us that our box was damaged and gave us a refund. The second week they told us the box was delivered while i was sitting 2 meters away from the door. We never received it and after asking our neighbours, none of them did either. It's a scam, don't waste your money and your time.

I have received expired food from them. And I have been charged for boxes I never received! When you call the customer service they simply say it has been processed so we won't give your money back!
I was interested to try a meal delivery service but it was so expensive I was hesitant until I got (about 100) HelloFresh.com 6 meals for $20 cards. I decided to bite and chose my three meals. About a week later, we received them.
I was surprised how heavy the box was. After opening, I realized that 98% of the weight was dry ice. The meals were exceptionally small. The "steaks" were of low quality and only about 3.5 ounces each. The shrimp, for which I paid an additional $15.98 for two meals, were the cheapest variety of very small shrimp and there were very few of them. Add to that, I did not realized this was an extra charge until I saw my credit card charge since they DON'T TELL YOU ABOUT ADDITIONAL CHARGES when you check out.
So, overall, it is a lousy and very expensive service. For half the price of what it would have cost without the coupon, I could have purchased 3 times the food from a quality grocery store (e.g. Whole Foods)!
Don't waste your money on this "service" since it is overpriced and of low quality.
Terrible customer service. I spoke with someone in July who told me I had UNTIL Oct 31st to cancel my subscription. Then when I got charged on the 27th I called to see why, they said "no you need to call BEFORE the next shipment date." I contacted customer service (who had the convo on file) and they did nothing to help the 79 dollar charge I was issued, for something I did not order. This is not the first time I've had bad customer service with them

This company is the WORST! I had a coupon for a discounted week so I used it and then suspended the account immediately. The meals were OK. Four weeks later the account reactivated itself (according to the call center that was in the agreement but how about an email heads up). The red bell pepper in one of the meals was moldy and that meal was a waste. The next week nothing came at all so I thought it was a fluke but I found out it was still billed to me. They said they would discount the meals I never received and that they knew I never received as a "courtesy". Then, even though the meals were still in their warehouse, they refused to refund a pending delivery. I think they would have charged me for the week I did not receive if I wouldn't have called even though they know FedEx didn't pick up that week. This is a SCAM and not worth it at all. The meals aren't nearly as good as Blue Apron. Phone customer service is TERRIBLE. STAY AWAY!
I, like many reviewers, received a free promotion from a family member. We put it in and scheduled it for last week. The meal was fine - the produce was kind of so-so but whatever. My family ate it.
We were still on the fence whether it was worth it or not though. Last week we also ran into a Groupon for a discounted box of Hello Fresh, which we jumped on. I didn't even give much thought to it until I logged in Monday and discovered it had already shipped out this week's Hello Fresh.
What? I didn't even know I was signing up for a subscription when I tried it! To make matters worse, there was no notification/email sent that it was made OR that it had even shipped!
Needless to say, I feel duped by Hello Fresh. Sure it's a fine concept, but this practice is shady at best. The fact that others are complaining about it too makes me question the honesty of this company. You can better believe I'm going to watch the company carefully once I cancel and report any fraudulent charges if they don't honor that I close the account.
Got two boxes, some produce was frozen and I was unable to use them or cut away most of it.
Second week of two boxes and it was horrible! The peppers that they sent me where either mushy (as in liquid running in the bag) or wrinkling, which means to me that I had to cook them that day. Green onions on all the tops where black and molding. Garlic got frozen and became mushy after it thawed out. The key components to each dish I had to throw away. The only thing worth keeping was the seasonings. Even the meat was swimming in liquid in their vacuum sealed bags.
So I called to get my money back on at least the last two I got. I was refused a refund, all I would be able to get was $20 refund on my card and a $20 credit to an account I was never going to use again! They even said that I could send pictures to "verify" and show their shipping department, but when I asked if I go through all this and it is what I am saying it is, I will get my refund? She basically told me no. So I hung up on her.
It's a scam. Don't waste your money or frustration
Avoid if you want to try before you commit
You commit to a second box before you've tried your initial free one... Really, really poor as they blame this on having to order the good for your second box before you try your first. They will not prompt you to choose your meals for your second box. So I've got to pay for a box of meals without selecting or see what I'm getting!
The FREE trail is structured purposefully to catch you out it would seem. I actually got an email today that says they are changing their email structure so you get this the Sunday before your Wednesday cut off. So evidence here they haven't been doing enough to make the process clear- they should therefore honour refunding people who felt enough communication was not made before this new email schedule roll out. Looking at reviews would seem this change is due to Frequent dissatisfaction.
Jamie Oliver should be wary of promoting this as there are a fair amount of disgruntled users. Worth also mentioning although they claim to adhere to the 14 day cooling not off period (which made me feel safer about trying it out), they then counter this by saying it's not applicable to fresh goods...! So no kind of buyer protection here.
Tip for consumers:
Customer service also fiercely support their strategy to ordering that clearly means you're stuck making at least 1 full priced purchase, if you try it out like me and get caught out by them not prompting you to choose your food options before cut off
Hello fresh claim their family meal box feeds a family of 4-5. The meal portions seemed reasonable in the first couple of boxes but then gradually decreased. When I called them to ask about meal portions I was told I should be receiving 150g serve of meat per person and if I received less this must be an error. In the next box I received 2 meals with less than 500g meat total (to feed 5 people). When I called again and asked for a refund was told meals are for 2 adults and 2 small children only, thus this amount was sufficient. An example of a meal would be 480g mince, two potatos and 2 zucchini, sprig of herb. No way enough for a family of 5 and a complete rip-off. I paid $38 for a meal with ingredient worth $15 max.
I've had massive issues with orders showing up past when they are supposed to be here. I decided to give them another chance, first box was supposed to be here yesterday...halfway through today and STILL WAITING...DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. Home Chef was better...

It's a fun way to prepare a meal. Sometimes it gets boring planning meals but they send innovative recipes that are a bit different from everyday. It's good even for 1 person. Try it.
Always on time, always delicious, good proportions and easy to follow instructions. Packaging is also getting less. Things like oil shouldn't be included though since we have it at home.
Avg. 500kcal per meal (like a 13yo girl would need for lunch). They write about 1.5-2x more calories on their recipes than they actually deliver. The recipes themselves are poorly made show the wrong pictures of the steps or the steps are just in an inconvenient order and way too overengineered. On almost every package there's at least one ingredient missing or swapped. Often meat packages are damaged and vegetables are moldy. Also, account for energy costs/time loss as almost every recipe wants you to turn on the oven even for just roasting a mini zucchini for 5 mins. Everything is poor quality. 2x time loss, 0.5x food.
Horrible customer service. My husband and I had used Hello Fresh a while back and had multiple bad experiences- open meat that leaked all over the rest of our food items-rotten meat that smelled horrific and was discolored, rotten produce (happened a lot), and late deliveries. But, when they sent a coupon code and boasted newer better recipe options we were convinced to give them another try; hoping that newer and better would apply to their overall commitment to excellence. Not the case. They did not even deliver our last box. When I called about it, they told me that if I did not have the box (that had been delivered to a wrong address) in hand to return, then they could not refund the money we had paid. How does that make any sense. They recommended that I go knock on the door of the residence where it was delivered (again, not our address!) and try to retrieve the box. So confused and upset. Luckily I was able to dispute the charge with my credit card company, but for anyone looking to use Hello Fresh, don't bother. If they bother to deliver you food at all, it won't be fresh, and they definitely don't care. I was calm and tried to work through this call to arrive at a sensible outcome. They preferred to keep my money and not my business. Worst service ever!
Tip for consumers:
Not consistent in their deliveries. Sometimes late, sometimes on time, sometimes fresh, sometimes not. Very time consuming to try to contact them and sort through it all. This is our second attempt at using their services
