My husband and I decided after many years our pre-lit Christmas tree needed to be retired. We went tree shopping and found a great tree. It looks and feels like the real deal.
I was in home depot for 30 min before someone could help me. No one on the isles anymore, and it's all self checkout. What happened? It has gone so far down hill. Plants are SO over priced. Guess I'm moving over to Lowes.
After hurricane harvey we bought a new washer and dryer amongst other things at Home Depot at the league City address. We bought a Maytag washer that lasted 3 years. We bought the xtended warranty. The first week of June Maytag made an appointment for June 11th between 8-12. Never called and did not show up. Stayed on the phone to Home Depot for 32 minutes just to finally hear that they would be coming sometime today. Who knows when are if they really will. No courtesy phone call or anything. WOW. NOT my idea of how to do business. BAD taste in my mouth now.

Special Ordered a washer/dryer. After waiting over 3 months... First attempt... driver said wrong item on truck. Turns out he couldn't even read a label! It was on truck and he was supposed to come back the same day with it. He never did. Rescheduled... after NUMEROUS calls and HOURS later. 4 days later... now driver supposedly can't deliver due to a "personal issue".
Home Depot customer service actually said "good luck" and that was it. They said they had no control as they do not do their own deliveries. It is handled by the appliance company who hires the cheapest they can find and have no backup. So we tied up 2 entire days and now rescheduled again. No way to do business. Cancel again and I will be cancelling order and wanting my money back!

I have purchased all over their stores. I have renovated a kitchen (returned refrigerators that didn't fit the spot), puchased overhead lamps, bulbs, garden soil, plants, fountain pumps, artificial Christmas trees, outside patio pillows, batteries. I have always found their staff helpful and with a smile. I've even purchased window treatments, outdoor grills... even paint and nails. Just like an old fashioned General Store, only bigger.
Sadly I keep experiencing defective items. Recently the $294 Krauss faucets came defective. My plumber spent an extra hour jury-rigging a faucet that was sent without proper parts! Krauss offered to mail them but that would mean I pay a second service charge and be weeks without kitchen sinks. It took me 14 calls and booking three weeks out to get a plumber in my area so there was no waiting for Krauss to rectify the error. Being an hour away from the Home Depot, returning and buying whatever they had in stock wasn't an option. The plumber said in all his years he never had an installation issue with supply line washers like this Krauss product.
Tip for consumers:
You can’t trust ordering these days. But local and open the boxes to determine if all the parts are there and there are no defects. When you are paying trades to install these products, you have to count on them being functional!

I've had many great experiences at Home Depot. They have everything, which is good, but also a bit overwhelming. I've rented a carpet cleaner a few times and they are very helpful in that dept. I don't always find assistance in the regular store isles. If yuo already know what you want, ordering online is awesome. Same great prices and they deliver to your house or local HD store.
If only had a few issues with online orders, they allow you to buy but then find out later the item is out of stock and they cancel your order. Whenever I buy instore I'm always happy. Their customer service is great tho, so that's a plus! :)
I'm a pro contractor. I ordered 75W LED bulbs from Home Depot online but I was sent 100W which were too bright and unusable. Both the store and corporate said I had to return the items to a store myself though it was their vendor who screwed up, delaying my project and embarrassing my small business. I then ordered the same items from...(Prime)... where I'll get the items sooner and have to spend far less time and effort if there is an error with shipment.
I have left numerous reviews on my local Home Depot store on Yelp as well as sending complaints to corporate, complaining for years about their horrible customer service. Nothing has changed. Home Depot does not care about their customers.
Tip for consumers:
Other sites have a much easier method for returns and a faster replacement turn-around. It is risky to order online from Home Depot if you are on a timeline.

Home Depot is outfitting our new kitchen - flooring, cabinets, appliances, paint, floorboards, you-name-it. There is already evidence of HD all over the house and yard. The gal who designed our cabinet layouts in the San Diego Genesee store, Jennifer, is Specialty Dept. Supervisor. I was so impressed with her knowledge & personality! She knew more than my guy; he was really impressed, too. He goes there 7+ times a week. Really. Never a problem with this store yet. Yes, at least 7 times a week.
My favorite store other than all my girlie shopping -- the best policies and employee attitude I have ever seen. Several years ago I wanted to report a rude employee and realized the better action was to call in and give a pat on the back to the helpful ones -- so my call-in program began and I have called many times, so much so that I began noticing even more employees became even more helpful -- word gets around. Did you know each one gets almost $17 on the Homer $50 badge when you call in? Love it that I can bring my dog! They even let me bring back several dead plants I didn't have a receipt for -- I mentioned it in passing and they OFFERED! Didn't even have to ask! And if you're looking for a contractor, you can get some leads. They are just wonderful.
Went to Home Depot on Preston Hwy in Louisville today. Shoppers were not being counted, and many customers were not wearing face covering. Kentucky government is letting businesses decide whether they allow anyone in without a face covering. Obviously, Home Depot doesn't care about their employees or customers safety, as mask are the most effective at preventing transmission of the virus from am infected person, and not very effective at preventing someone from being infected. Come on people, start showing more concern for your fellow human beings instead of thinking it's all about you!
Buyer Beware! Do not purchase appliances from this Store. It's a complete joke how their operations work. They pay some incompetent 3rd party contractor to deliver the product, but they don't record or take accountability if something goes wrong. They pass you along to the next person to talk to and completely waste your time/energy. Do yourself a favor and buy from Lowes for some other appliance Store. Home Depots' Operations are full of blunders!
Home Depot does not offer any lower interest rates for cards. Your credit rate stays the same from the day you open up an account. The only time you will catch a break is if you spend over 300 $, do not use this credit card unless you intended to spend a ton of money. They offer nothing for the low income family's to save money. Maybe a 5 $ coupon gardening. They do not ever lower your interest rate.
I should have given zero star for Home Depot online delivery. Customer service persons are pathetic, have no control on online service. The delivery man delivers the item and customer service person have no idea where the product is?
I ordered a bed, they scheduled evening time, however, bed was delivered in the morning without any notification. I was lucky that no one picked our item from our door step.
Very very poor service. Never go for online delivery.
Over a month ago, purchased a Maytag dishwasher from Home Depot. At the time of the first delivery, they broke a valve and flooded my kitchen. During the second delivery, two weeks later, the dishwasher was so badly damaged in the box that it's door wouldn't open. Now I understand that problems happen, but The Depot refused to accommodate us in any fashion. Not even to allow us to request a delivery time, and forget asking about a reduced price on the delivery. Apparently, after asking around, this is business as usual for them. Do yourself a favor and buy your next household appliance from an appliance store.
Worst customer service! Ordered patio furniture on June 2. It's now August 7th and I'm still waiting. They can't seem to find the furniture lost between HD and two freight companies. I've burned through 5 customer service agents over the last few weeks and just recently HD assigned a "team" to look into my issue. They said it would be resolved yesterday. No resolution, no phone call. If any HD customer service agents lurk on this site then you're welcome to give it a shot. My special "team" # is *******. I've lost confidence in your organization.
Have previously had excellent experiences with HomeDepot.com, but after purchasing a $6000. Hot tub we were prompted for a review. I outlined the minor issues with delivery (truck's tailgate couldn't really handle the load!) and major mechanical/electrical problems that customer service didn't get it right causing us some extra time, effort and expense to get it working (electrician to tell us our wiring was okay, waiting for a new pump and they sent the wrong one, etch) Put this in the review and it was kicked back as "it didn't speak specifically about the product". Tailored it down two more times and finally gave up. They wanted a positive review. Period. We paid for a functioning hot tub and delivery. That was the product we bought and I submitted a review based on that.
The sales people push the purchase of extended warranties on many items. Do not purchase it. You will be told it will cover repairs, replacements, parts, labor and multiple other items related to the specific product. However the insurer- Asurion will not honor everything you told during the sales pitch. We have purchased many products from Home Depot and have been relatively satisfied but we will never by an Asurion policy for any product anywhere.
Tip for consumers:
don't buy it

Again, depends on which shop you go to. Some places have very friendly people, some places have people who really know what they are talking about, and some places have neither! Next time I need a DIY project done I may just use the website instead of gambling on the in house service.
They have a 100% failure rate for my orders so far. They promise next day delivery then refuse to honor it. They promise 5 pool cover bladders but send 2 single Chinese knockoffs. They don't apologize for their deceit, they never make it right, and it's all to get a balance on your card long enough for them to get an interest payment, nothing more, just deceit. They have disabled all independent browsers so the vast majority of their clientele can't review them or their items. Frankly they didn't earn 1 Star, but this site wouldn't allow me to rate them lower.
Tip for consumers:
Use Lowe’s.com instead. So far I have had 1 bad experience out of dozens of purchases from Lowe’s and the late shipping was caused by the carrier not the retailer. HomeDepot has screwed up 2 of 2 orders and I can’t see why I would be the only one.

Didn’t use any. So far all items ordered haven’t arrive and the 2 out of 5 pool cover water bladders are in process of being returned for sending a Chinese imitation of what was promised and not the right quantity at all. Customer service is $#*! ok this and they lost a grill and grill cover earlier this year around Easter time and the local stores said “we don’t care what the website said we’re not delivering it for a couple weeks!”. I believe they get paid for returns so they do a bad job for the incentive.
After this experience, I will never shop at a Home Depot again. I ordered an item listed as having "5 in stock" at a location near me. I ordered and paid with a confirmation telling me I could pick it up in-store. When I arrived at the store, I was told it was a "special order, online-only" item. I contacted customer service to cancel the order and was told I could not cancel but would have to wait the 2-3 weeks for the item to arrive, go to the store, pick it up, call customer service AGAIN, request a return label, then mail the package back to the company myself and wait for a refund. I asked to speak with someone that could handle my request properly and was told to call back "on Tuesday" as no one in the administration would be available until then. The website information is intentionally misleading, and their order policies are designed to scam consumers out of their money.
I'm the type of shopper that will wander around a store for so long that when I finally leave it's dark outside! And, I have done that many times in Home Depot. I finally started using their online services, and now I can stare at knobs for my up-cycled dresser for hours from the comfort of my couch!
I took an item in to return that I had purchased a couple days earlier. I had the receipt. They had poor lighting and fit was not clear where to stand but I was the only person waiting. However they choose to wait until other customers came up and helped them first. They were rude for no apparent reason. I just put the kitem on the counter with the receipt and left. I would rather lose my $45 than shop there again.
This store has always had mediocre customer service in the past too. They are now my last resort for stuff I need.
For the most part Home Depot stores are hit or miss depending where they are. My best advice is to seek out older male workers for advice. Asking the average employee for anything more complicated than hammer and nails is futile.
I would recommend Home Depot if you go shopping there in person. Now if you order online this is a different matter. Just get something that you're not in rush to get! Takes forever... I just don't understand how some sites like Wayfair manages to process their orders within a day and that Home Depot takes for ever!
I bought a new gas range from Whirlpool from Home Depot Online (Order WP*******); The range was delivered on time but the technician who installed only tested the burners and not the oven. When I used it for the first time, there was a strong smell of gas and the temperature never rose above 100 degrees. I called Home Depot after 5 days to report the bad installation and lack of quality assurance, but they only cover issues reported <48 hours, and asked me to contact Whirlpool. Really... a $1000 purchase and it's up to me to figure out with Whirlpool what is the problem and get this fixed. Whirlpool client service is even worse but I did not buy from Whirlpool... Home Depot will abandon you! You are on your own, beware... It's actually like Amazon though you often get 30 days warranty with Amazon, only 2 days with Home Depot
