Hubzu has a rating of 2.5 stars from 318 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Hubzu most frequently mention real estate, earnest money, and credit card problems. Hubzu ranks 161st among Real Estate sites.
If you have the money and a modicum of intelligence it can be a godsend for savvy real estate investors. I bought a great fixer-upper that I'm thrilled with. It was a little scary the first time. I'm still using Hubzu looking for my next property. Pay attention, ask questions and read the contacts! Get an agent or attorney if you don't understand!
Behind there is a broker that sells out of the MLS. I made my offer, the time of the auction ended. The system said: "congratulations! You are the winner" and two minutes after the system accept another offer $ 500 more higher. The web portal has its own offer to raise the price automatically In customer service they never answered my complaint.
This site has been very helpful and very concerned about my well being. Arra the specialist that i worked with was amazing she spent hours with me and walked me through everything step by step. I'm going to recommend this site to families, friends, and colleague. Thank you for making my life a little less stressful.
My real estate agent and I placed a bid on a house. Hubzu did not post a minimum "meet price". The auction ended with my bid being the highest bid, but they unilaterally cancelled my bid, did not provide an explanation and placed the same house back on auction 30 minutes later for $20K more than my bid. My agent tried to contact Hubzu, but like many other reviews I have seen in the internet, they are unreachable by emails and phone.
If the bank established a minimum price, they should disclose it.
Shady business practice.
Hi,
We appreciate you sharing your feedback with us. Because many bidders may have experience with traditional auction formats, a Hubzu bidder may think they have won the right to purchase the property because they have the highest bid. This is not always the case. Reserve price is one factor that may prevent the highest bidder from winning the property. A reserve price is the minimum the seller is willing to accept for the property in an auction. If an auction ends without the reserve price being met, and no selected bidder is declared a winner, then the seller reserves the right to accept a lower bid, negotiate with a bidder, or propose new terms to the bidders. It is important to note, it is also the sellers right to simply relist the property for auction again. If there is anything else we can do to provide you with more information regarding auctions or assist you in future properties, please don’t hesitate to contact us at Hubzu Customer Care at 855-882-1314. We thank you for the opportunity to respond to your concerns and hope to meet your expectations in the future.
Thanks

Yes, I bid on a house after many weeks of research and did find many disturbing things that did not ad up. So when I won the house I got the big surprise. They claim I did not meet min. Bid but the owner was willing to negotiate on the price. They gave me a price over 200,000 higher then my top bid price. What a waste of time. Either they do not know how bad these home conditions really are or they just think some moron is going to offer full price and then put hundreds of thousands of dollars of work into them. What I did find out is Hudzu and this LLC company is one in the same, so they are fixing the prices and they also are in control of the properties. That is confirmed from the bank that use to own the property I was biding on. So bottom line, do not waste your time and very possible lose your 1,000 deposit just to bid. By the way, 3 months latter the house I won on auction still keeps coming up again and again for new auction

I have tried to bid on many houses and have been the highest bid several times, yet my bid was not accepted! It did not meet the price they wanted! Then in the next hour they email me saying that the house is available to bid on again and I should put in my bid!
Crazy is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result... I'm not crazy, I am done with this site!
Hi,
We are sorry to know about what happened. Because many bidders have experienced traditional auction formats, a Hubzu bidder may think they have won the right to purchase the property because they have the highest bid. This is not always the case. Reserve price is one factor that may prevent the highest bidder from winning the property. A reserve price is the minimum the seller is willing to accept for the property in an auction. If a bidder disagrees with the reserve, we encourage the bidder to still bid on the property for what they would be willing to pay. Because if an auction ends without the reserve price being met, and no selected bidder is declared a winner, then the seller reserves the right to accept a lower bid, negotiate with a bidder, or propose new terms to the bidders. It is important to note, it is also the sellers right to simply relist the property for auction again. To learn more about the auction process, please visit our FAQ page at https://www.hubzu.com/about/faq#auctions on Hubzu.com or feel free to contact Hubzu directly via phone or chat. You may also reach out to us at customeradvocacyteam@altisource.com for any other concerns.

Hubzu is possibly the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with and if I can persuade one person to avoid dealing with them then writing this review will have been time well spent. I decided to buy a foreclosed home from them earlier this summer and did everything I was supposed to do, including wiring the earnest money. Then after they had my money, and the deal was done, they reneged. They didn't even bother calling to let me know. I had to make repeated calls to their hotline, my banker, and their law firm to get my money back. I never could actually reach anybody at their company, only their outside law firm. Who knows if they'd have given me the money back if I hadn't been so aggressive. Hubzu sucks. Avoid them at all costs.
Honestly, I have not used Hubzu in a few years and I did have a client who put in an offer, it was accepted and then they said a higher offer came in but then it came back on the market at a lower price so that was extremely frustrating to my client. Hopefully, things have gotten better in terms of bidding and accepting an offer.

We are closing today on our new home. We used Hyle Chu from Tower Realty Sacramento. He is a REO specialist and FUN to work with.
The agents at HubZu worked very hard for us to get this beautiful home. We would like to thank Arif Ahmed for all his personal assistance on our deal!
Do not listen to all the bad reviews! Try HubZu they are the best!

My experience was only positive. They work hard to keep you informed. There are delays in the process but these obstacles are not the fault of Hubzu - they are just as anxious to make a sale as any real estate agent. They always get back to you and, in my experience, will provide as much information as they can.

Aug. 2017 I bid on a property, Hubzu countered and I rejected the counter. Three or four days later I placed another bid on the same property. Hubzu countered with my identical offer and I accepted. After waiting for a week and a half for the sales agreement to arrive I received an email stating that my offer was rejected and the property was being re-listed. This is a very deceptive business and I would recommend staying away from them.
I purchased a property through this site using a real estate broker. I have never been in an auction where the closing time kept getting extended. In this case over 8 hours. Then Altisource takes over with the most incompetent staff ever to do the closing. Their constant errors led to a 6 week delay in closing. Stay Away!
Tip for consumers:
Don't use it!!

I was alittle nervous at first cause of all the reviews. I Bid on a house and got it. From beginning to end it took about a month and half to close. The process was really easy I think. I got a great price on a house. So im very happy. I would do it again. It can be alittle confusing at first. Next time I might trying my own closing company. But it was nice cause they paid for it if you used theirs.
This is not a scam. But I can see why people think it could be.
Hubzu is very easy to bid on a property. The representatives are very helpful. If there is a technical issues, you can call their toll free number and someone will come online and help you step by step. Thank you

Never again would be too soon to buy a property through them. Terrible communication dealing with people from other countries. Waiting in the lawyers officice (finally) to close and waiting for paperwork. Still receiving documents to be signed a month after moving in. Too much bad to list.
Although I've been a realtor for 40 yrs. My experience with these online services has been very limited and I could use all the help I could get. That is what I found.
Not only was the party I spoke with very patient, they make sure I got all the info I needed and reassured me that they were there for me if I needed them again.
Thank-you Hubzu...

My experience was amazing, the functionality of the website is so flawless and easy to use. I recommend it to everyone and they deal with all the work of getting the property that you just have to pay the money and then sit and wait, everything will be done without you having to hustle for getting the property.
I won a bid with hubzu. Nice house, great price. Paid for a inspection, Appraisal wiring fees etc. 1 1/2 week til my closing date I received a email after business hours stating that they were canceling the contract because of title issues. Hubzu houses are not checked for clearrd titles before placing them on their site. I was devastated I as well as my family became emotional attached. They gave me no options no explanation and no fluent English so I could understand what's going on. This would have been my first time purchasing a house therefore I was devastated. This site is a disaster! Before purchasing please make sure in writing that the home you're trying to purchase has a clear title! Please stay away from this site I'm out of 1000 dollars. Please read your contract thoroughly there's things listed to protect hubzu from there mistakes which end up costing you!
So i won the bid. Was told via automated email the next day that the bank will be reviewing my offer and that it could take "several weeks" to get back to me. Great. Well, "several weeks" went by and nothing. Reached out to Hubzu and they are greasy in how they answer... they are basically worthless with zero info. Reached out to Listing Agent/Asset Manager and they never replied back with anything. And then they sold the property to someone esle. Wow... just wow. Pathetic. Never again will i waste my time and tie up my credit card hold while they string you out with zero communication. Great customer service Hubzu and bank!
Hello Rick, We apologize that you have experienced a longer than normal response time. It typically takes a few days to be notified if your bid has been selected. However, a short sale offer/bid acceptance often takes significantly longer due to the review conducted by the seller's lender, not the seller themselves. The average time to accept a bid or offer on homes with Special Conditions or short sales is longer than auctions or traditional sales. We fully understand the inconvenience this may cause a bidder. This information and more can be found on Hubzu.com/support in the FAQ's or if you need further assistance in this matter, please contact us at customercare@hubzu.com or call us directly at (855)882-1314. We are happy to assist you.
Went to review some townhouse etc. they are selling at West New York. Placed some pics on the website, but upon view of the area and house, it did not quite resemble the pics. People around told me that the place is deserted for 2-3 years. Rough estimate of some local contractors is - over $250K gut renovation is required to make the place livable. If you add that to the so called "good deal" + 5% commission etc., it's actually much higher than well maintained and renovated similar properties across the street! Strange this site managed to sell so many properties. It feels like another nationwide housing trouble in the making!
Hi Andy,
Thank you for your valuable feedback and also for bringing this matter to our immediate attention. Please contact us at customeradvocacyteam@altisource.com with your contact information and specific property details so that we can conduct a thorough investigation. We will go ahead and have our vendor inspect the property once we have the information.

Make sure you read the contract and review which bank you are dealing with, more specifically Ocwen Bank is a complete scam and will not allow you to secure a lawyer and make any modifications to the completely unreasonable buyers contract. It was nearly impossible to even secure a lawyer after winning a bid as every lawyer in NJ recognized that Ocwen bank was unreasonable. Proofs in the pudding when a lawyer doesn't want to take your money!
Hubzu went a step above, they helped me with my questions, and followed up with me to make sure I understood and to see if I needed anything else.
The website is very user friendly and so is the customer service representatives.

Hubzu/Altisource one of the worst companies to work with when closing Foreclosures. You work with off shore employees who speak very broken English, but their email states they office in Atlanta, GA. Their closing department refuses to return phone calls, Harass buyers, threaten to cancel signed contracts, charges buyers high fees to use them. Employees are rude and demanding. I would never recommend Anyone use their site to bid on a home.
