Hulu has a rating of 1.6 stars from 1,175 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Hulu most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and free trial problems. Hulu ranks 225th among Streaming Movies sites.
Hulu is a fantastic streaming service with a diverse range of content, including current TV shows, classic movies, and original programming. The ability to watch new episodes of my favorite shows shortly after they air is a major plus. The ad-supported tier offers great value, although I wish there were fewer commercials during playback
I've tried most of the movie sites and Hulu is by far the absolute worst. The website itself is slow and difficult to navigate. Their disabling of right-click makes it even worse. Movies stop at random places to load, ruining the continuity of the movie. And trying to skip ahead or back stops the movie outright for anywhere from several seconds to half a minute. You can't even pause a movie where you want because of the delay. Subtitles are out of sync with video on most movies. You have to pay to watch the movies, and then pay again if you want to watch them without ads. Even the free bootleg movie sites work better than Hulu. I tried their free trial so at least this poor experience did not cost me anything.
Hulu has a huge disadvantage. Not only do they force you to watch ads unlike both Netflix and Amazon, they run the same few ads over and over and over again. It's so annoying that you feel like boycotting both the companies who run their ads on hulu and hulu itself. I always think twice about watching something on hulu, because it's totally insane to watch a show where you have to see the exact same commercials 6-7 times per episode.
I want to know why your service is absolute $#*!ing $#*! compared to Netflix yet you have the god damn balls to charge the same amount when you're not EVEN $#*!ing updated on $#*! and you're always removing most of the older seasons of things or shows. Seriously. $#*! you guys.
I was getting to know my way around hulu and BANG... something happened. It said "we are building your lineup". What the... I can build my own line up. Now I can't find anything AND what happened to all of the programs that use to be on the channel? This is the stupidest (right word?) update I have ever seen. Hulu won't be getting my $12.00 /mo. RIDICULOUS.
Signed up for a free month. 7 days later they billed me. Called and complained. They said it was because I signed up for Live TV. Didn't see anything during initial sign-up about immediate billing. Bait and switch
Anybody been subjected to the changes at Hulu? The interface is more confusing and difficult to use than before, and advertisements - lots more advertisements, and for longer duration. Which is undoubtedly the cause of the "upgrade." They must think if they change up the interface enough, nobody will notice the increased advertising. I didn't see my bill decrease, though. Ugh! Hulu is definitely helping their competition. The new Hulu is absolutely horrible!
This company is horrible and taking advantage of it's users by jacking up prices but providing a ton of crap for it's users to deal with. It's expensive, there is always an issue, it always just spins and gets stuck, and you can't use tmobile internet without you having to call once a week and spend an hour on the phone to have it reset. It has good shows but it's not worth it.
Tip for consumers:
We ended up canceling. It's not worth it.
Hulu started as a 'cut the cord' provider for free and like $10 no ads. Then they bundled, then the charged more. My latest plan was $78 for no-ads, Disney+ and ESPN. Just put a movie on. Oh, it's supplied to Hulu for USA… and guess what - 9 sections of ads of 3 mins, or I can chose a 30 sec interactive ad. No. I choose to cut the cord from you Hulu as you just turned into the monster you promised not to be - a cable bundler full of ads. Subscription cancelled. Using my money to buy some nice bottles of wine to go with my Netflix, Amazon, ANYTHiNG but Hulu!
Their commercials between shows hang up and freeze. Once you back out and restart, it happens again and again. Especially after the Jameson Orange liquor commercial, guarded it will freeze every time after that commercial. Customer service is a joke. When someone finally answers, you cannot understand them because they're from another country. We're canceling this piece of crap and I suggest you really consider before buying into this mess.
I only got Hulu for this past year in college because my dorm didn't have cable in the bedroom. It was good for that, but now that I'm back home and will be in a newer dorm this fall, I have no use for this. Only subscribed in addition to Netflix so that I could watch American Idol since I had no cable. The ads ruin it. May pick it back up at some point, but probably not. Also had a lot of issues with the streaming regardless of how good my internet was and in the case that an ad didn't load properly, the whole thing would get messed up and I'd have to close the app/refresh the screen in order to try to watch again.
Netflix is better, and has no ads. Netflix is a good supplement to cable. Hulu is only of any value if you don't have cable.
I like to know how HULU gets three and a half stars when most of the ratings are disturbing. Who runs this company. According to what I read the ads are all in Spanish. Which is one of the complaints. What happened to the English language. I was under the impression where you live you learn their language. It's outrageous how you cheat, lie and steal money and they get three and a half rating. If this was a court case you will be in jail. Is this something wrong with this picture?
I have some time on my hands these days and I wanted to watch some old housewives episodes. I found out that Hulu offers them, so I sign up and I start watching. 2 days in and I'm loving it! On the 4th day (took a break on the 3rd) I go to watch some
More episodes and it says "this isn't included in your current subscription, we offer plans and add ons blah blah blah" who lets someone start watching a series and then says "WAIT! The $6.00 your are paying a month isn't enough, you now have to pay $62 bucks to continue watching it!? Hulu you guys did me dirty, that's not cool man.
Every time I get really into a show it constantly say we are having trouble playing this title. I give up! I really really wanted to watch a certain movie. The app said I would have to upgrade to premium. No problem, except I still can't access the movie and customer service is a joke. Good by Hulu. You really suck!
Constant clock error code, restarting my DVR because it freezes up after every episodes. Commercial etc. No more $7.99 out of my pocket. I will stick to Netflix, since got no cables, maybe when Empire episode 2 starts Sep. 2015 since I'm in be by 8pm. Bye!
Let's see, where do I begin? They say they have shows from a channel, but turns out they only have a few of those shows available and not all the seasons, if more than one ur lucky. Then, try to actually watch shows it's all errors and loading issues (at least 3 per show). Live TV is awful. Stream stops frequently and just kick you off HULU, usually Right in the Middle of an important news story. Huge chunks of shows are just lopped off if there is any interruption in loading. ADS seem to play perfectly from beginning to end though. And there's a LOT of them. Almost as much as CABLE. Also all interface must be done via a phone or tablet. Interface stinks. So glad we use a tablet for most b/c I couldn't imagine trying to find anything on that app on a tiny phone screen. Good grief. I don't think we'll keep it for much longer.
Hello,
I just got off the phone with hulu customer service.
They won't reset my firestick because the hotspot has trouble maintaining my IP address. After 4 times, I can't get a 3 second fix on their side.
Hulu rep was cocky, tried to tell me "she can't change technology" and "it's the internet". Well, I'm over educated and don't need her pale explanation.
During this time of recovery from an economic downturn, people are saving money and have become more frugal than ever before. Many people have cut back on the luxury items and only focused on obtaining the necessities. Going to the movies with high priced tickets and popcorn was a luxury that many people cut back on.
As we began to embrace these cut backs we put together a list of websites to watch movies and/or tv on to little or no cost. We kept in mind a number of things such as affordability, reliability, clarity, and much more. This site is effective? It is very easy to navigate and to use. The pros is that it is free and user friendly, the con is that they charge for Hulu Pro but it is still affordable. The purpose of the website is to watch tv shows or movies online for free. I would you definitely recommend this website to a friend.
Watching Lord of the Rings trilogy... halfway through 2nd movie... dropped all 3 from the platform with no warning as expiring. Hulu sucks. Stop promoting garbage I don't want to watch and focus on doing things properly.
Every other commercial is in Spanish for months now. It's really annoying. I canceled solely for this issue. I contacted them, was told "they were working on it"... a month later, still no fix. There's way better providers other than Hulu.
Disney+ package, espn blocks Nhl games regularly, Hulu worked fine last year but now will constantly give error message when trying to watch or resuming playback. Now on 3rd game tonight yet never finished first 2...
Hulu is like Windows 3.0 in its design and execution. Try to offer constructive advice and customer service hangs up on you. We canceled 2 hours into free 5 day trial. YouTube is much better though as expensive.
Hulu has increased it's prices for everyone who has it…. My subscription was 64.99 and now it will be increased an additional $5.00 so they can force Disney+ and ESPN down peoples throat. It would be all well and good if the service they offer wouldn't freeze, however, it does and on a consistent basis. Day, evening, night, all you get is a partial show that freezes and Hulu coming back with "They're experiencing difficulty. I've deleted the app, reinstalled it and it'll play for about an hour or so, then yet again "FREEZES ". My internet is fine, I have no issues with Prime, Apple TV, etc., just Hulu. And yes I've done everything it asks and yet this is what I get every hour or so……
Besides being unable to make the text out from the background at times, on a large screen TV, the text is too thin and hard to read if you have poor eyesight. At least with the old interface, you could tell what show you were watching, even if you couldn't read the text. My mom hates it not only for that, but due to the wiping out of her favorites, she can't watch anything now.
Worse yet, they installed this abomination of a UI AFTER charging their monthly fee, money she would have preferred to keep and cancel her account instead. Hulu's just lost two more customers.
Will never use Hulu again. Don't trust them! Shady business practices! Signed up for the big Black Friday $0.99/month for 12 months deal just over 2 months ago & decided to add the 7-day free Hulu Live trial only to be told when we decided against keeping the Hulu Live that we could no longer keep the deal we were on & had to pay full price. WHAT A SCAM! So you're actually punished for trying out an added upgrade if you don't keep it. The woman I spoke to said she understood my frustration but just basically kept saying over & over again that it was their policy as if reading from a script. Management is AWFUL. Asked to speak to a manager twice, both times put on hold only to be told they would not come to the phone. Wow. I will never be back and will make sure I let anyone and everyone know about the scam they're running. Couldn't afford their big deal they offered so now they've found a way to SCAM people out of it. Horrible business practice. Will be sticking with Netflix & Prime.
At first I was a little bit wary of paying $9.95/month for what used to be free on hulu for their new service hulu plus, but it really is a good deal since they stream it in much better quality it seems. Nice to be able to have all of the current season's TV shows as well. The combo of hulu plus and Netflix makes it seem like I rarely watch cable TV now. I am a big fan of HDTV and high quality images but the on demand feature of internet TV is just too alluring.
If you have Apple products you better not touch your screen while you're watching. What a horrible platform for streamingFOR YEARS. Why can't they get it together?! Why? They don't seem to care. So many other problems as well, all "viewing" related. And that's the business. Viewing shows! What a waste.
