Hulu has a rating of 1.6 stars from 1,175 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Hulu most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and free trial problems. Hulu ranks 227th among Streaming Movies sites.
Hulu is a fantastic streaming service with a diverse range of content, including current TV shows, classic movies, and original programming. The ability to watch new episodes of my favorite shows shortly after they air is a major plus. The ad-supported tier offers great value, although I wish there were fewer commercials during playback
I've tried most of the movie sites and Hulu is by far the absolute worst. The website itself is slow and difficult to navigate. Their disabling of right-click makes it even worse. Movies stop at random places to load, ruining the continuity of the movie. And trying to skip ahead or back stops the movie outright for anywhere from several seconds to half a minute. You can't even pause a movie where you want because of the delay. Subtitles are out of sync with video on most movies. You have to pay to watch the movies, and then pay again if you want to watch them without ads. Even the free bootleg movie sites work better than Hulu. I tried their free trial so at least this poor experience did not cost me anything.
I had a little bit of a problem with getting the student discount and I called their service center hotline. The woman who answered was so nice and so incredibly helpful! Kelly should absolutely get a raise for how hard she worked on helping me figure this whole debacle out. Although there was not much she could do for me on her end of the spectrum, she was so respectful and committed to helping me! Ask for Kelly if you can!
Hulu cares nothing about fixing problems customers have complained about for years: 1)They stop recording shows before the end. You never see who got voted in or out. They cut it off! 2) You watch TONS of ads. Even if the special buys ended weeks ago, you still must watch. 3) Tonight a show I always record, is no longer in "My Stuff". I now must wait a FULL WEEK to see a news show! Wow! No warning re: changes. So Far, This is the WORST streaming provider I have tried. I've also had to call several times in the 3 mo. I''ve had them because of their ads getting stuck and freezing, so I can't watch anything! I'm paid up for 17 more days, but I'm quitting NOW. Nothing works reliably, esp. DVR which is how I watch TV. Shows! For their POOR service, they decided to raise the cost! BYE-BYE!
Hulu plus finally launched and for $7.99 it is a really good deal IF you like the tv shows they currently have in their line up. If you ever wanted to watch a series from beginning to end, buying a boxed set is very inconvenient and this way you can watch all of their shows for cheap and then continue to watch the current season as well. I am giving this a full heart for the cheapness of the package. Video quality is also excellent
Hulu used to be a great place to go to watch tv shows and movies at an affordable rate. Since they've upgraded, if you have Hulu basic you're pretty much not able to watch anything of value. Terrible. It's best to look elsewhere.
The first episode of False Flag had subtitles and then the 2 nd episode has no subtitles. Really! This is the most inconsistent and worst streaming channel ever. If you rewind an episode you have to see ads for 1.5 minutes again, so its really difficult to go back to something if you missed a dialogue! Dont waste your money on this service!
Someone used my information and created account an account and never used the service. I have been charged over $300 and when I tried to dispute it they said they do not refund fraud or any other disputes and that is their policy. They need to change their policy in the event of fraud because I cannot be the only person who had a fraud against them with a streaming company. Hulu(Disney)should be ashamed.
I don't appreciate getting ads in spite of paying for a premium subscription, but what finally did it was agreeing to an add on (Showtime) so I could watch a movie. After signing up I come to find out the movie isn't available to watch for another week and a half. I don't appreciate Hulu constantly lying about what you're supposed to be getting. The streaming quality is also one of the worst out of the different companies I've tried.
Hulu+Live subscriber here. The commercials are louder than what you're watching. We pay for no ads and still have ads on demand. I've been watching something and as I'm watching it, it's removed from the lineup as I'm LITERALLY watching it. The only reason I have hulu is for football but other streaming apps are picking it up finally so it's time to part ways with hulu. It's become spectrum. I was trying to get away from that.
Starting to lose its appeal. Many shows that used to be free are now premium member only. We had a Hulu Plus membership for a while but figured it's not worth the cost if you still have to sit through advertisements during your shows. Another thing that is making Hulu less-attractive is the fact that you have to wait a week or more after the original air date to see some of the more popular shows.
If you are looking for a viable alternative to cable, hulu is not a bad option. The live TV service is really good! However, as far as their other content not great at all. They claim to have the largest movie collection on the web. I have yet to search for a movie and find it on hulu! Now they do have some series they have produced themselves that are ok, but not nearly as good as Netflix. Overall they are just ok especially if you choose the live TV option for 40/month.
Don't waste your time or money. Terrible amount of commercials it makes it unbearable.
Hulu should be free to the public due to its ungodly amount of commercials.
I don't get it. The advertiser pays hulu to advertise and yet they make the consumer pay monthly.
Although it will never happen they should offer their normal commercial filled service free and offer a commercial free subscription.
They are worse than cable.
Please save your hard earned money and blow it on something worth while
I hope Hulu gets shut down soon. I would give it negative 5 stars, but it wont let me. All I tried to do was delete one profile on the new stupid updated version and it turned into me waiting on the $#*!ing phone for 45 minutes. $#*! Hulu.
I made a mistake when signing up for Hulu under a special they were offering. I called the customer service which is impossible to get a hold of. Told them I was trying to sign up for the special and ran into some problems. There answer was "there is nothing I can do about it". I said then cancel my account, there answer was Ok. I had never been a customer, but because of that experience I never will be a customer of there's.
Since the first time I visited Hulu, I was skeptical that one website that doesn't "look like" it's owned by some network, which means that it would be somewhat impossible to host a variety of TV and movie content for free. So it was free and... after watching Family Guy and The Simpsons... a LOT of it, Hulu became an everyday part of my life. I don't need TV anymore because of Hulu. It has infected my mind with pure entertainment!
So now, I have Hulu Plus... for $7.99/mo, it's pretty much the rent for a site that's pretty much like a room full of every season of my favorite TV shows that I can take around with me on my iPhone!
I never knew such a site... a dream... could be as incredible as Hulu... and I'm even happier with Hulu Plus adding to it!
Tried to watch the movie "Vacation," which is an hour and a half long, but there were so many commercials, it's 2 1/2 hours long on Hulu (the limited commercial plan). Seriously?! There's a commercial break like every 5 minutes. I just counted 19 commercials during the last break. I gave up trying to watch the movie. Going to cancel Hulu... not worth $45 a month. Ridiculous.
7.99 to start sounds good until you subscribe then you find out all they got are a bunch of old tv shows and movies of with you can find most for free on Roku. If you subscribe you better get ready to pay extra for anything good to watch. 49.99 for live to and as little as 10.99 for stars, HBO, and others. I think it's a big joke and hate it. I will never subscribed again.
I joined like maybe 6 months ago and up until about 3 months ago I was only paying $7.99 a month then they started taking out $22.98
And leaving my bank account I wr drawn. Sorry I make contact and they said someone added me on HBO and that definitely bull $#*!. And they are all only giving back $1499 of my money.Which is completely bull $#*!
The only the ng I ever watched was like 3;shows.
Hulu is awful and crashes every 5 seconds. It takes forever to buffer and even the ads don't play 90% of the time. If I'm watching a 42 minute show and get ads as long as 135 seconds like 4 times throughout the show, what am I paying for? This website is absolute $#*! and I've tried being patient with their stupid website for months. I am so over it, Hulu is awful.
I get Hulu during the fall/spring season of new shows each year-have done this about 3 years now. Then I disconnect it til next fall. I have subscribed to the level WITHOUT ADS. There is a specific box to check to do this--I believe it is a few cents more but is well worth it. I have never been pushed to sign up for the yearly price. I do agree that their setup could be a lot more user friendly. I also use Netflix, Britbox, CBS & sometimes Acorn. Note: I watch all these programs on a no frills laptop without any problems.
Been a subscriber with Hulu for a while now, but I find I rarely use the service. The content is fine but the ad experience is the most intrusive and pervasive of all the streaming services. Every ten minutes there's a long ad break—almost two minutes of ads. Between episodes of shows, there are ads. After the theme songs, there are ads. Ads and more ads. It's like watching network TV but you're paying for the privilege of letting third parties try to pitch you their wares. Hulu offers an affordable basic yearly subscription rate, but if you want to go ad-free, you have to switch to a monthly rate that's prohibitive—well over twice the price. It's almost cheaper—and much more pleasant—to BUY ad-free content and watch it on another service. Sadly, I'm paid up for the next 10 months. Would prefer a refund so I can defray the cost of numerous seasons of "included" shows that had to go out and buy on Amazon Prime because they were unwatchable on Hulu.

I do not like some of the type of commercials they put on such as eharmony gay commercial. This doesn't need to be put on TV. I don't want my kids seeing this and let's say it's more then just that commercial
Tip for consumers:
If you like gay commercials for your children then watch it with them
Used to love Hulu! But now after this atrocious update you can not find a series to watch without Hulu starting you on an episode of which they decide. Then to find the episode you originally wanted to watch you have to press a series of multiple buttons to find all episodes. Hulu your update is no where near user friendly. I do not like it and apparently there are plenty of others out there that feel the same. They will either need to make a change or loose me as a customer.
This is the worst site EVER! So many ads, they seriously have one every few minutes. What bugs me the most is my favorite shows are on here... So I find myself sucked into this site, though I honestly HATE this site, I have a membership though. Its an awful Love and Hate relationship... Ugh Please Hulu just take away these ads. We pay for this.
My account with Hulu was hacked after I cancelled my account some months ago and these 10 folks got it going again... and have been using it illegally... I have password security. Never gave my password out to anyone. I'm from WYOMING NOT LA but they refused to give my money back and charged me for future use even though NOT using. Reporting to my bank and negative reviews for Hulu every place I can place them to warn folks not safe and not cooperative when hacked. Terrible! Find another streaming service.
I enjoy Hulu and use it more frequently than any other video website, however I would like to see them update their content a little more often and quicker. I've watched the entire second season of Homicide Hunter (A show I've gotten addicted to) but they do not have season one or any other season available to watch. And I know so far, that show has about 5 seasons.
