Hulu has a rating of 1.6 stars from 1,175 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Hulu most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and free trial problems. Hulu ranks 226th among Streaming Movies sites.
Hulu is a fantastic streaming service with a diverse range of content, including current TV shows, classic movies, and original programming. The ability to watch new episodes of my favorite shows shortly after they air is a major plus. The ad-supported tier offers great value, although I wish there were fewer commercials during playback
I've tried most of the movie sites and Hulu is by far the absolute worst. The website itself is slow and difficult to navigate. Their disabling of right-click makes it even worse. Movies stop at random places to load, ruining the continuity of the movie. And trying to skip ahead or back stops the movie outright for anywhere from several seconds to half a minute. You can't even pause a movie where you want because of the delay. Subtitles are out of sync with video on most movies. You have to pay to watch the movies, and then pay again if you want to watch them without ads. Even the free bootleg movie sites work better than Hulu. I tried their free trial so at least this poor experience did not cost me anything.
Normal cable doesn't cost much more and with Dvr you have the option to fast forward through ads of shows you've recorded. Hulu is too greedy for that and even if you for example
Start a show over or even rewind it a bit you HAVE to watch the ads over again. Pissed me off so much it's not worth it to me.
I pay for 11.99 plan that says "NO COMMERCIALS" yet they still play 1 ad before and after each movie or episode. When I call they say with the 7.99 plan you see 5 to 7 commercials. My argument is I'm not paying for a limited commercial plan. My plan says NO commercials that means zero not 1 or 2. They won't do anything about it cause they are in a contract with those networks. But they shouldnt label their plans limited and no commercials when in fact all plans have commercials, just each plan differs on how many commercials you see. Also dont get their live plan, it constantly goes out and doesn't work we dropped it the same day we added it.
Hulu is pretty good. They would be better if they could cut down on the commercialism. Especially for a paying customer. I like the ability to watch a program I have missed 24 hours later. That is a brilliant idea. However, the downside are the commercials.
Literally the worst movie site I have EVER experienced. First off, there are WAY TOO MANY commercials. The commercials last from anywhere between 3-5 minutes (might as well watch actual TV). Second, half the shows fail at streaming and consistently pause or disconnect in the middle. Third, buying HuluPlus is the biggest scam. It has no benefits over the free version other than access to a FEW more shows. For the same price you pay for Netflix or Amazon, HuluPlus still streams commercials and has access to barely anything. Additionally, there's no point in buying it if you plan to stream from a smart device because the technology doesn't even work on them. Stay away from this site. You are better off using Netflix, Amazon, or any other website.
Tip for consumers:
DON'T USE IT! Use Netflix or Amazon instead.
Purchased Hulu live to avoid getting cable. I watch maybe 4 channels on live and some movies here and there. Just noticed, one of my live channels is now only available as an "add on". An extra $8 a month on top of the $74.99 I already pay. Nah. I will go with Philo for a 3rd if the price. Sorry Hulu. I paid your fees for 3 years now. No longer.
I am now going to every site I can to leave bad reviews about HULU. I hate them with a burning vengeance. They are on of those sites that purposefully makes their service hard to cancel so you accidentally stay signed up with them charging even when you thought you canceled! I tried the site for the free trial, realized they were basically sub par netflix and then attempted to cancel. Talked to their customer service people and they were rude as hell about the whole thing! I am very angry!
This site is fantastic. It has just about every popular tv show out there and is great for when you miss your show or forgot to tivo it. The only thing that has been disappointing, is that when i was abroad i couldn't use it. Apparently you have to be in the united states to us it right now, i think though that there's an option that you can say where you are that you're trying to access it and maybe they will try to expand into those countries as they get more hits from them... keep your fingers crossed!
This service is a total rip off! Stay Away! They try to lure you in with a free trial and then when you cancel the service even during the free trial period they post it later and force you to pay for the entire billing period even if you cancel before. For example they said that my cancellation didn't post until July 22 but even though I clearly don't want the service they are forcing me to pay until August 11. Stay away! Way too expensive and terrible customer service!
I keep it for certain shows I can't do without, but hulu needs to hire competent people that can build a basic friggin' interface. Get on it already! You suck Hulu! You're ripping us all off making us use that backwards bs and you know it. Man tf up.
We just paid to get hulu live and the short of it is, it doesn't work. At all. I even called hulu today to figure out how to get to the live tv and was told that they are having issues with it and there is no estimated time it will be fixed. Im not sure what we paid $40. When I asked if it would be fixed for the Olympics tomorrow, the customer service women said she had no idea. So we will be canceling that subscription and looking for another option ASAP. Sorry, hulu. But don't offer a service if you cannot actually give that service.
I went ahead and try Hulu "free trial" becauss I've been hearing good comments about it. From what I know is the free trial was suppose to last up to 30 days. 1 week later, we were already charged. Then it also indicated the next payment that will be billed. Ain't free trial suppose to last up to 30 days? I cancelled my subscription due to the issue. Can't keep their words like Netflix.
Hulu is an interesting streaming platform that has for a long time provided some great shows. Unlike other streaming platforms, Hulu provides a free catalog as well as a premium catalog, both of which are supported by advertisers. Competing platforms do not have advertisements on their content, especially when you're paying for the service. Hulu did eventually introduce a more expensive option that removes general advertisements from the content, but every once in a while I will still get advertisements on certain content where they couldn't remove the advertising. However, there have been numerous times where an episode simply will not load for one reason or another and there are times where content gets removed as I am watching it. It is frustrating not knowing whether or not something is going to be there, but that is a limitation that all streaming platforms seem to have.
Get current content. Movies that are decades old. B reated movies. Multiple movies in the same line up. Just a complete waste of time. Shut hulu down and come up with another business plan. Sad to see a company charge for such garbage. You will be a thing of the past in tow to three years if not sooner. Waste on time and money.
Hulu is one of those rare sites that when you first hear about it, you think it's too good to be true, and yet they offer everything they say they're going to offer. I've been using Hulu for quite some time now since I don't regularly watch TV and I must say I really do enjoy being able to stay current with TV through Hulu. It is definitely not the best out there especially because the tv networks offer their own access to the same shows through their commercial providers. Hulu only really brings the major networks together and it doesn't provide anything outside of that. So the one thing you definitely won't see on Hulu are shows from HBO or Showtime or any other pay per view networks like that.
This is by far the WORST streaming service! We pay 93 dollars a month for terrible service and buffering every time you you're trying to watch something. Called them about our NBC local channel not working and it's not fixed Yet! Now it's buffering so bad you can't EVEN watch it! Called them back and all I get is hung up on! Time to dump you Hulu!
I was charged for 2 months tried to get refund get no response could t even log into my account they were told about this. This company don't care about the customer and like to steal money from people. Charged me for the free trial period also. I would never never recommend this to no one
Customer service has always sucked with this outfit, anytime I've called them they just shined me on even hung up on me once. They raised the price five bucks in January they are now jerking the price up another ten bucks so I will be leaving Hulu and going back to cable. I started with Hulu going back in the days when it was free and then paying for it happily but I'm no longer happy.
I really wanted to cut the cable. But who is not the way to go. It freezes, loses its audio, loses its connection at every program change. I know it is not my connection or my Internet as nothing like this happens on any other service I have Netflix, prime, Apple TV. Stay away from it
I hate the new interface. They removed all commentary after the show. They messed with the search, your cue, everything. They gave us Windows 10 like boxes. I hate Win10 and hate this format. I'll be cancelling my paid subscription since I have cable, Amazon, and Netflix. I guess the fools who don't care what their customers want get bumped out.
If you wanna watch this at night when ur kids are in bed DONT! The commercials are so insanely loud it will wake the whole house. I have to be constantly on the mark to mute them. If they turned the volume down on the commercials I would at least listen to the commercials. I could understand a little louder but this is nuts. If you watch a show an doze off, don't worry the commercials will shock you awake! Seriously HULU turn down the volume on the commercials cause all your successfully doing is making sure I don't hear a word of them because I hit the mute button.
Tip for consumers:
Don't watch at night when you're trying to be quiet you will get busted.
This platform is so spineless. It backs down to the woke mob and ruins quality shows to add terrible suggestive propaganda just to validate corporate greed. This company cannot be sustained and should be completely reorganized
Tip for consumers:
Site jabber is great

I have been paying for no commercials for over a year yet most shows have them and some are over 200 seconds numerous time throughout a damn hour show! Freaking ridiculous! Plain and simply false advertisement!
The app on my tv quit and would not reopen. I attempted, several times, to contact customer service, but I was repeatedly hung up on and sent to survey. Anyplace that thinks this is acceptable doesn't deserve to be in business.
I did like Hulu until they took off a tv show before i could see how the last season ended. If they are going to take off a tv show they should give people a notice so you could make some time to watch them all in a week or two! Some one is not very bright at Hulu!
Signed up for a "free" trial - just received my bank statement and it seems I was charged 6.36 for choosing the commercial free option when I signed up for my trial. Was I asked if this charge was ok? NO! Was I ever notified that a charge would occur- NOPE! I called their customer service line and got an I'm sorry and there's nothing I can do- this among many other reasons is why I cancelled my Hulu membership
