Live TV - not good. Nice selection of channels, but too much buffering, often kicking you out back to the fire stick menu. Happens more in early AM and in prime time. Can't get used to it. Can't set reminders, making for constant guide checking to see what's on next. Included DVR irritating to use. Once record is set for a program, it will record every time that episode is played, not just one time. You will have to find a another time for the same program to turn off recording. Program guide displays 5 channels at a time. With the firestick, there is no paging up or down. It only moves up or down one channel at a time, and only shows 1 1/2 hours at a time. If you want to see programming from 8PM - 10PM, you will also need to scroll right to see 10PM, then scroll back left to 8PM, then scroll down 5 times to view the next 5 channels, Obviously, someone does not care about how clunky it all works.
Streaming - excellent. Great selection of shows with no buffering problems.
Data use - big problem here, if you do not have Internet unlimited data plan. First month of service used 95% of my data (my plan has 1280 gb/month). Cox unlimited plan is $149 month. Not gonna happen. If you are in my situation, you can turn off a bunch of data hog options, like automatic updates and sharing your data. I need to unplug my firestick when not at home to save data. Yes, it can chew up data with the tv off unless you unplug the firestick and/or the router. Got lots of help with a google search for saving data on these devices.
Bottom line for me is to junk the live tv and stick to streaming. Get an external antenna and local channels are free. But data problem still does not go away. At least it won't be buffering.
My mother got this email stating hulu was new and improved and were asking former hulu users to come back with a year subscription for 5.99.
So we get on hulu on our tv and look for new episodes of blue bloods and we cant find them anywhere so we get on the phone and they state "wait time is 1 hour" we then got online to chat. That is when we found out that there was a change in the 4 months since we had hulu. Now you have to pay for live tv which means no new episode it took 30 min of chat to find out it was 39.99. What a rip off
So we canceled within an hour of signing up.
They then took money out of my acct after telling me it would be on our reg payment date. If they were talking about the last subscription that was on the 5th of each month. Today is the 7th. And why would they take any money. They have always taken the money after the month. They overdrafted my account and i had to go through a dispute to get the overdraft off my account. Alot of running around for the chance to watch the episodes that are on and i cannot see them.
So if you are thinking of using hulu... DONT DO IT!
Get the cbs, abc, and nbc app on your phone or tablet its free on those and you can cast to your tv. Freeeeeee freeeee. DONT USE HULU YOU ARE SELLING YOUR SOLE TO THE DEVIL.
Yes there are ads. No big deal. But the ads are 3x louder than the show. It is so annoying. I have to mute every ad they are so crazy loud!
First let's me say Hulu is not user friendly, npr is it a consumer base streaming service. Hulu is a you pay self serving streaming service. They would like you to think you pay for a service to stream movies and TV, bit they ate just another marketing service who attracts people in to thinking you are buying a service for you and your family, but your not! Let's say you setting up your profile, they ask you name, age, gender. Why do they need this for TV? Has a she approprate switch why age then? Well lets say you put to days date in the set up, of will automaticlly turn switch to kid appropriate shows and look your profile so you can't even change it. Why there is a age switch? Because they want to know this info do they can collect marketing info to sell on you. So you pay them to watch content you pay for while they track your info to sell it. In a since your paying someone to track and make money on you! There is no need for this and by the way then try and change your profile OMG this app is a big pos and now I know why so many bad reviews because it makes money on commercials, data collection, and from you. What to you get a big fat headache dealing with a service you think would be designed for the user who wants to watch shows that's it, but no just another pay me for what Hulu wants to do. Anyone else think you should be getting what you pay for? I am personally sick of crOp companies that think we are all dumb and will ing to pay for this carp. Now I also think there ate many other issues with Hulu but a lot are already covered here so not going to mention, but one should see how those issues got into what I am saying and you now know why those problems exist also because they ate not a service company working to give you a product of good quality, but trick you to pay them to run there back side business selling all they can about you. Just another self serving scrappy company working on your dime.
Its absolutely madding to try to watch a football game on Hulu live. Its constantly rebuffing and missing plays.
My name is Lateefa Whitner. I was charge in my account and I didn't enjoy it. The management refused to speak to me
$40 a month and still have to watch 90 second commercials 5 times in a 30 minute show is atupid. What a rip off. $40 a month for a $5 value.
Way overpriced for local. $45 month should be comercal free and that is still overpriced. Plus the movie content is rearly updated
I pay for HULU and there is NEVER a Boston Bruins game. VERY VERY VERY FRUSTRATING. I pay extra for these stream services but never the best team in the NHL.
Nothing on. Pay for live tv hulu sucksnothing you want to watch can I say hulu sucks yes I can nothing u want stay away. Ok
I tried Hulu for the 2nd time because they sent me a promotional email stating "(MY NAME), Check Out What's New in June
Your favorite day of the month is here. That's rightnew shows and movies just dropped, and June is on fire. Don't miss out. Sign up today for your one-month free trial."
"One month free trial only available by
Clicking through this e-mail. See terms below.
One month free trial offer valid for Hulu (ad-supported) or Hulu (No Ads) plans only. Offer valid for new and eligible returning subscribers only. After free trial ends subscription fees apply starting at $5.99/mo unless canceled. Cancel anytime. Terms apply."
The reason why I thought that I was an "eligible returning customer" is that it addressed me by my first name. If it had said "Dear customer, you MAY qualify for a one month free trial, click here to check your status" or something like that, then this review would not have been written.
After I discovered I was charged for the month I thought was free, I called their customer disservice line and sat on hold for 15 minutes. The agent that answered would not let me get more than 8 words out of my mouth before she interrupted me to tell me how wrong I was to expect a free month (a 2nd time). After the 3rd interruption, she said that she would refund my $$ and cancel my account. Their advertising email software should be sophisticated enough to differentiate between previous customers and new customers that qualify for a free trial month. It is 2020, after all. Although this experience ended up ok as far as the monetary expense is concerned, it soured me on ever trying Hulu again. Not worth the BS. There are many other options for streaming.
I see a bunch of bad reviews and most are talking about video problems and commercials and such. Since I watch hulu on my Xbox one, whenever i have a problem I just restart Hulu and everything is just fine and that's only when I have a problem because I don't have any problems too often. Also I don't even pay for my Hulu my friend shares his account with me and he also has the no commercial plan and it is just so great. I used to always go on Netflix allll the time but now I'm almost never on Netflix because Netflix definitely has good movies and good shows but Hulu also has many shows that I really, really enjoy and they come out with new episodes the day after a new episode comes out unlike Netflix where it uploads by season and takes a long time to upload a season of a show after that season is finished. Anyways I don't have any problems with Hulu because I don't watch movies that often and there isn't that many good movies on Hulu (well they do sometimes but just for a more limited amount of time before they're removed) and one thing that I absolutely loved on Hulu is how they rated shows' episodes instead of just the whole shows in general and it was very useful when I went to find a particularly good episode of a show but my only complaint is I think they removed it because I can't see any of those ratings anymore after the update which Is pretty frustrating because I just loved those episode ratings. Anyways for all the people who have to video problems and stuff like that well it just really suck because youre really missing out.
Hulu seems to especially struggle with Sunday PM streaming on NBC; also lots of trouble with the mobile iPhone app.
I don't know why people complain anyway I have been with Hulu for a long time and I have no complaints with them
Hulu sucks dog dookie and is the most pain in the $#*! website to use in the history of history Hulu lick my hairy sweaty nutsack you piece of $#*!
Garbage, pure and simple. Save ypur money. I wouldn't use this service for free. It's been a humiliating experience
Ads get longer and longer. Now they stall out so that it takes even longer to get thru them. I am CANCELLING Hulu!
Answer: Not worth it since they updated their interface into an unusable mess. Customer service is awful, stay far away.
Answer: Happened to me. Stay away from hulu. My systems is high speed and works great with YouTube 4k and Netflix 4K HDR. Hulu obviously is bandwidth limited which might work for customers who watch old movies but their technology is not good for 1080P and modern technology.
Answer: It's hulu yet clearing the cashe every time before starting Hulu is substandard there overloaded
Answer: Yes & with Hulu Live you get all of the local channels like CBS, NBC, Fox & ABC. The shows are clearer too because of the way they come in from their On Demand libraries. I love Hulu Live & was so tired of Dish for a few reasons. You should just try it. You get the first seven days free & can cancel anytime. No contracts, equipment or bullshit. All you need is a good strong internet signal which most of us have today. My monthly bill was $100 with Dish. My new Hulu Live bill is $80, but that includes no commercials & an extended cloud DVR where you can fast forward through commercials on recorded shows. You also get access to their whole Hulu library.
Hulu has a rating of 1.7 stars from 1,179 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Hulu most frequently mention customer service, credit card and free trial. Hulu ranks 200th among Streaming Movies sites.
