Hulu has a decent variety, but far far less than what you get with Netflix. The quality of the video is very good and the audio is good as well. Hulu has manual and auto settings for quality, which is useful in areas where your internet bandwidth isn't optimal for HD and it works well most of the time. Often times though you'll end up buffering when it really shouldn't be necessary and no amount of pausing will allow it to buffer to a point where you can continue watching it. If it weren't for the ads it wouldn't be such a major problem. But it only buffers to the next add and then it empties your buffer has to start from nothing again, which frequently causes problems with less than ideal internet speeds. The adds are obnoxious and you're forced to sit through them over and over again if something happens and you're forced to refresh the video. The player has a bad habit of tracking your video way to far ahead when using touch screen controls on your tablet or mobile device which causes you to have to sit through more irritating commercials.
The bottom line is it's way over priced for something that has ads. I don't have cable for that specific reason. If there's ads, it should be free or at least much cheaper. I only plan to keep my subscription for a few months and then ditch it for 6 months or so and then renew my subscription for a couple more months. I imagine most people do it this way as the value is pretty mediocre. I like Hulu most of the time, but they really screw you over a heck of a lot.
There's no 4k resolution, but they do support 1080P and 5.1 surround sound. So reasonable quality for both video and audio.
Excellent services now i can watch my fav. Shows on my PC. Really great quality and high definition
Hulu locks up after commercials. You have to start the app from the begining. They are completly indiferent to the issue. Go figure.
Hulu is full of errors and ads. I switched to Netflix and I have no problems and no ads for the same price. BOOOOOO Hulu!
We're trying to extract AT&T from our lives. DirecTV must go after serving us since 1988. AT&T RUINED them. We signed up for Hulu Live + Enhanced DVR + No commercials... every option available. Here's a list of concerns that we've been, thus far, unable to resolve.
We pay an additional $15 for the privilege of forwarding through DVR'd commercials. We also pay an additional fee for unlimited screens. We also pay an additional fee for no ads -- and here's the best part... there are STILL ads. I'd say Hulu nickels and dimes us, but the fact is it's not nickels and dimes, it's $15's every time you turn around. Unacceptable.
As if the Fast Forward fee wasn't enough, using our AppleTV, we are unable to fast forward with scrub/preview so that we can see WHEN the commercial is over. Hulu simply pauses the screen while the clock advances. No solution. Premium price. Unacceptable.
We have all Sony TV's. Hulu Live will not play on them. Hulu blames Sony. Sony blames Hulu. Guys- get over yourselves. We bought Sony hardware and we want(ed) to purchase Hulu content. That shouldn't be an issue. Unacceptable.
We set up "My Stuff" with the shows that my wife and I watch. We were immediately presented with a very nicely laid out menu of shows... but they report 39 unwatched, 53 unwatched, and so on. That would be handy if accurate, but there's no way to mark episodes or seasons as watched without going into each episode, fast forwarding, and letting it end. That's absurd and negates the value of the aforementioned attractive menu. How would we know when new episodes were available? Unacceptable.
Our internet tested with a 60ms latency. Netflix doesn't mind, Amazon video doesn't mind, AppleTV doesn't mind. Their services all work flawlessly. Hulu... most DVR'd shows will not pull up. 4/5 tries ends in failure after 2-5 minutes of waiting. Unacceptable.
How do you think my wife feels about me cutting the cord and buying Hulu? Why aren't there more accurate portrayals online when I checked reviews? I'm dumbfounded by how bad this experience has been. It's not even close to par.
Change my mind.
Hulu sucks. I am so frustrated that here I am leaving a whole review about it because the answer they give to the issues is bs. This past year or so has been god awful! I have a brand new MacIOS. Plenty of space, new hardware, plenty if storage etc. I also only use Hulu on this one device ( So what happens is not "cache" issues like Hulu likes to claim *smh*). First off, every movie/show glitches out immediately upon playing. I have to refresh and restart 2/3 times just to start a movie. Then the screen will freeze after a commercial. When I refresh annoyingly the SAME commercial plays over again instead if starting the film, then freezes again every 10 minutes or so. If you need to pause or rewind -forget it. The glitching starts again. I go through this cycle of all of the above I'd say no leas than 5 times every hour long movie/show I watch on Hulu. That being said. Dont waste your money on a $#*!ty service when you can get the same services at the same price but without all the glitches and bs. Use Netflix. Even Tubi. Anything us better than Hulu.
Hulu has gone downhill and is truly a pain in the butt to use these days.
I only reactivate these days when they have a show or movie that I cant find anywhere else.
Note: This is not just me. These issues have been reported across the board. Any other service is better. Hulu needs to figure their $#*! out.
Not to mention the "play" bar never goes away. Unless you hit "stop" and then "play" i which case it freezes and you'll have to refresh all of hulu to start the same movie, watch another glitchy commercial and hope that this time you can move the cursor fast enough to the bottom right corner that the play bar will disappear without having to do all of the above AGAIN! Sorry about typos. It's late.
Hulu has always been a thorn in my side. I've never really understood the service and, after a year of using the service, I really don't see it as a good value or as a service worth keeping.
Most shows only offer limited episodes. Many shows they push you to subscribe to their live streaming service in order to see the show, nevermind if you already have cable or streaming TV service, and missed an episode, you're mostly out of luck.
I find the movies and series are much like how Netflix operates, low budget films with sub par acting and pump out movies and TV series like Hallmark channel pumps out Christmas movies that all have the same themes.
The other thing I don't like about Hulu is, if your payment doesn't process the moment they run the card, they instantly cut the service off without so much as a courtesy notice or even a grace period.
Yes, I realize all these services are pay as you go no contracts but, every streaming service that I have it gives me a courtesy notice of my payment won't process or they have a backup payment method that they try or they give me plenty of notice that it wasn't able to process and all of my streaming services give me anywhere from a week to 30 days to bring my account current without any penalty.
Also, customer service is really non-existent at hulu. I feel like they are a bunch of millennials who think that they have hit the big time because they are customer service for hulu. Most of them don't care, most of them have a kill em with kindness not my problem kind of an attitude. It's like I need to feel blessed that I am able to speak with them and have their service in my home.
I also think they have way too many commercials. Even antenna over the air stations don't have as many commercials as Hulu. When you're paying eight bucks a month for a service, and you are watching a lot of shows and movies with them, can you imagine all the commercials that you were seeing but yet you're still paying for the service? I don't mind a couple commercials don't get me wrong but, when you have to sit there and watch 3-4 minutes of commercials regularly, it takes the joy out of it.
Beyond that, I've enjoyed some shows and the occasional movie on Hulu but, overall, I don't feel that Hulu is necessary and I don't feel that it has enriched my life at all, furthermore, I've never felt as though there were any programs on Hulu that made me want to race home to make sure I can watch them.
All of these streaming services that are out there now are competing for your business and some of them have good Hollywood movies but a lot of them just have these low budget films that they push off to be something spectacular. They're very predictable and have no depth, heart or soul.
Hulu maybe a good option for you but for me, I want more out of life than to be numb with cheap mass produced entertainment
You where the best. You chose the wrong path and have to die. Go out with a bang!
Simply put I LOVE HULU. Whats more to say, free tv, awesome quality! I can watch it all day long
Wow, Hulu just is clueless aren't they... Their old app was superior and the fact they replaced it with this garbage is absolutely insane...
Its the lack of buffering that makes this app almost useless. If I get a bad LTE connection, this app will pause over and over and over and over and. Well you get the idea. So when I use this anywhere where there is a bad LTE signal, every single show is unwatchable. And, Netflix NEVER has issues in the same location that Hulu has, and in terms of buffering, I don't think Hulu buffers AT ALL...
The fact Hulu does not buffer is mind boggling... So whenever the signal is affected, so is the video and then you get absolute garbage quality. Who wants to watch a show that pauses and unpauses practically the entire time...
The old app seemed to work a LOT better in low signal situations. Or at least I don't recall it pausing, unpausing, pausing, etc. etc... Anway, I'll keep Hulu for the desktop/laptop version which is great, but this mobile app is absolutely pathetic... Please FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR FRICKIN CUSTOMERS ADD BUFFERING to the #*#$ app!
A great site for looking for new movies and going some where else to see
OUTRAGED that the anti Christian bigot, hate-speaking Sarah Silverman's show "I Love You America" is still on HULU! Both vile and unfunny, she made news last week again:

And here: https://www.dailywire.com/news/*******/sarah-silverman-pro-life-law-makes-me-want-eat-paul-bois
She has made "jokes" about such subjects as rape, the etiquette of having sex with God, used racist terms against various groups such as Asians, that she would like to kill Jesus again herself if He came back, feels threatened by the display of an American flag, plus many more vulgar Tweets and references.
There is a definite double standard here: if Roseanne is wrong and got her show axed over one racist remark, this dirty freak should've been canceled long ago for her extensive history of perverse, racist, and anti-Christian remarks, going back to 2001 or earlier.
I will be boycotting Hulu and tell my friends to do the same unless the perverted troll Sarah Silverman and her hatespeaking "show" are immediately cancelled and removed from the lineup so she can no longer USE HULU AS A PARTNER TO DISTRIBUTE HER RACIST, ANTI-CHRISTIAN, BIGOTED, HERETICAL, HATEFILLED FILTH.
After cutting the cable several months ago I could only get my husband to agree to do it because Hulu live is the only streaming service that offers the Philadelphia Flyers and unless you have cable or FIOS, this is the only other way to watch them on TV. That being said I was tired of paying over $280 per month for cable and internet service. I have Hulu live which runs me approximately $45 a month and I have gigabit internet service which is approximately 100 so I knocked almost half of my bill off. Great. Until you try to watch TV with Hulu live. The constant buffering, the unsync renovation of the audio to video, the games that appear to almost be played in slow motion and standard definition, not to mention cutting off the last 2 minutes and 20 seconds of the Super Bowl in which the Philadelphia Eagles won for the first and only time in franchise history! Be advised though that Hulu buys blocks of time for events like sporting matches, so if the block of time is from 8 to 10 p.m. who live will cut off at 10 p.m. even if the game you're watching is going until 10:05)
Also if your TV is not of the newest technology you will not be able to stream directly through your smart TV app to Hulu live, you can only get Hulu Plus or standard Hulu. That's why we have Roku sticks on all of our TVs even though they're only a year or two old.
Hulu live only offers approximately 40 cable channels if you're lucky. Right now though it's our only choice besides cable. So to work around all of the issues most of the time I watch through the TV apps on my Roku stick. I can log in and subscribe to most of them with my Hulu live account, but for those that hulu live does not offer, I just use one of the 27 family member's cable or dish logins who use my Netflix login haha. I don't watch a lot of television so it's not unmanageable or unlivable for me, but if you are someone who watches live TV a lot this is not going to be the best option for you
I had been overcharged by Dish for many years. Hulu Live is the best answer I could have hoped for!
Watching the same three commercials over and over is a special kind of torture.
The smackdown show the new episode airs to late I wish It show air like 8:00am in the morning I think it will help alot
Hulu is awesome. All my favorite shows and the price is just right
Answer: Not worth it since they updated their interface into an unusable mess. Customer service is awful, stay far away.
Answer: Happened to me. Stay away from hulu. My systems is high speed and works great with YouTube 4k and Netflix 4K HDR. Hulu obviously is bandwidth limited which might work for customers who watch old movies but their technology is not good for 1080P and modern technology.
Answer: It's hulu yet clearing the cashe every time before starting Hulu is substandard there overloaded
Answer: Yes & with Hulu Live you get all of the local channels like CBS, NBC, Fox & ABC. The shows are clearer too because of the way they come in from their On Demand libraries. I love Hulu Live & was so tired of Dish for a few reasons. You should just try it. You get the first seven days free & can cancel anytime. No contracts, equipment or bullshit. All you need is a good strong internet signal which most of us have today. My monthly bill was $100 with Dish. My new Hulu Live bill is $80, but that includes no commercials & an extended cloud DVR where you can fast forward through commercials on recorded shows. You also get access to their whole Hulu library.
Hulu has a rating of 1.7 stars from 1,179 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Hulu most frequently mention customer service, credit card and free trial. Hulu ranks 200th among Streaming Movies sites.
