I signed up for the $1.00 'trial', for which they provided absolutely nothing, but promised that for only $19.95 I could have 'more'. When I called to cancel, one Melissa gave me a ten-minute runaround, including "We can't find your account', 'We need your credit card number again', and 'Would you mind if I put you on a brief Hold?'. They finally promised to cancel my account, and promised I would receive an email confirmation 'within 24 hours'. If I don't get that email, I'll be back here with a shotgun.

Well, guess what?! The 'within-twenty-four-hours-email-confirmation' never arrived. What a surprise! Oo ooh, how fun! Back on the phone.

This time, another, one Marilyn. Looked around, asked for all recorded information, then out me on hold. Came back to report that my account had indeed been 'closed', 'confirmed' that the closing email had been sent, and provided a 'transaction number'. Reminded me that my 'account' was still active through midnight tonight. I thanked her, reaffirmed that we would be doing no more business together, and hung up.

Five minutes later, my phone rang. I let it go to Answer, and Lo!, here's Marilyn! She wants me to call her back and 'review' my credit card number, 'for their records'. I picked up the phone, and she suddenly 'apologized' for calling, 'Sorry, misdialed, sorry to bother you'. Hung up abruptly. And all she wanted was my credit card number...

At best, it's a one-time ripoff. At worst, it's credit card fraud. Avoid. Avoid!

And go ahead, you bastards, and sue me. If you dare.

Checkmate is a deceiving site. They will get your information, but to get what they promised you must keep feeding them money. Don't waste your time unless you have lots of money to toss.

I will definitely use this site again and refer to friends I got easy access to all the information I was looking for and it didn't cost a lot so that was a plus

The application didn't have what information that I truly needed, so it didn't do me any good. I would recommend they give all the important information that is highlighted and advertised.

I am ALWAYS very careful to not select auto rebill options for services unless I like a company's service or product. I read the site and saw that there were 2 options. I chose the 1 time 1 month option. NO WHERE did it say (unless it was in such small print that I couldn't see it when I magnified the screen to 175% to check) auto renewal. But low and behold, a month later, I get a notice from paypal that my account was compromised and there is a charge again from instantcheckmate... I disputed the charge then went to the site to get the phone number. I called 10 times and spent over an hour and a half until I got some guy (who I will now call Mr. Idiot) who said I had to cancel the auto-renewal on my account and he would note the account so that when they got the dispute from paypal it would authorize a refund... Well. No such happening. Paypal came back today and said "oh, you cancelled your subscription on xx date, so the charge was valid. SCAM, Bait and switch. Fraud! Don't use them (the so called background check was CRAP, too, by the way. The information that came through was mostly incorrect for myself and the wrong person for my hubby and had me connect to people as family members that I had never been related to! It was a total joke.

I signed up after reading what would be provided in the "FREE" report. I clicked on the "UNLOCK MY REPORT" button entered my credit card information for the $22.88 report. I had to pay another $1.99 to get the report in pdf format. Then when I read it there was NOTHING in it that couldn't be found by doing a simple "GOOGLE" search. If I wanted to get the "business associate's" information or ANY other IMPORTANT information on the person I ran the search on I had to "UPGRADE" for another $19.99. I will say that after asking to speak to a supervisor and voicing my displeasure with the results I was refunded HALF of my fees ($11.44). It remains to be seen if they really refund anything.
DON'T USE THIS SERVICE FOR ANYTHING.

Very professional and I got all the information that I needed. They were also very pleasant and helpful when I cancel my subscription. I would use them again in the future if needed.

Useless info, like the horoscope of the person, for $25. Then for anything possibly worth something is $20 more. A search on Google and White Pages will yield you BETTER info for free!

I signed up for one month trail which I used it for back ground check It was no use and just used them one they but they helped themselves for 18 months payments until I find out what they do. They are fraud I did not signup for anything, DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY BANK ACCOUNT OR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION

On October 16,2015, I was drawn to the web page advertizing Instantcheckmate.com in that I had interest to seeing what data would appear concerning myself. The data was presented in such a manner that one could assume I have an arrest record which I do not and said information was of little or no relevance. Having retired from a law enforcement agency, I was interested to see if that aspect of my career would be documented. It was not. Rather than being charged $10.91 for a one month trial subscription, I received an invoice email on Oct. 17th indicating a balance due of $45.82. I am unable to get back to the bait and switch web page; however, I was told by Megan, an operator at their phone number of *******985, that the error was at my end and I had selected the subscription rate. I will be addressing the fraud with my credit card company as well as the Better Business Bureau. I suggest others that have been taken in by this organization to also contact their credit card company and the BBB.

Additional information: Monday October 19th at the request of my credit card company, I called *******980. The personnel at that number were, I must say, very courteous and helpful. Appropriate refund was apparently authorized. I was told that the refund would take a couple of days to appear on my card statement. This I can live with.

The $ I paid gave me what I asked for and more. Didn't know I signed up for autopay monthly...but the company took care of it. I only paid for what I needed and they delivered greatly.

It's a great tool. Never lets me down. Every background, phone, address search I do returns the exact information that I was hoping for!

This boy is not a human being. I was just blind of him. Thatswhy he has got chanch to cheat on me.he cant stay with one girl.he is the perverted person.so he's used to one after another one.on that reason asuasl he started abuse me, ignored me as much as he can. Was able to clear up any misunderstanding that I had with the membership and completely satisfied what I needed.

Nothing here that cannot be easily and freely found with Google. Charged more than authorized. Completely disappointed.

It goes ON AND ON with "loading your results" pages, until you hit the end after a long time where it asks for your money to see the results. Complete waste of time.

My customer service rep was great friendly fast and courteous and he provided the most respectable customer service ever

After going through the entire questionaire, they had me living in a city that I never lived in. Saw no reason to pay for worthless info.

Absolute garbage. Made me jump through numerous hoops and demanded my email address only to tell me what I already knew. A money scheme undoubtedly.

First warning- There are bogus positive reviews, and recommendations from phony "consumer protection" websites all over the internet designed to misdirect consumers away from legitimate consumer protection sites.
Second, beileve the other reviews on this site, it's all what you can expect if you go there. Before trying this site, I had collected free iformation by just digging around the internet. I was led to believe I would get more in depth info. First they gave me a choice: either $34 for one month access, or $80 something for 3 months, BUT, no matter which one you choose, they continue to charge your account until you call a phone number to cancel (which turned out to not so easy.) That "report" contined far less info that I already had. And some of it was inacurate. BUT, they then offered a more indepth report for another $16 and change. This again returned garbage, unless you think a horoscope, or somebody's "sign" is worth over $50/month. An added insult- they wanted an additional $2.99 to be able to download the report you paid for. If you are not totally disgusted enough to get out of the site at this point, they will be happy to keep throwing more offers, and charges at you. They have attempted to legally insulate themselves with disclaimers basically stating that they don't guaranty accuracy, and you shouldn't use their information for anything that matters. That says it all. Next, I'm off the Pay Pal to see if I can keep them from getting their hands on any more of my money. Hate to give them even one star, it's way too much.

All of the information listed was correct, except for one picture. I felt like it was missing some juice.I know there is more.

The customer service is outstanding very precise and informational. I would recommend this service to anyone. Thank you all your help.

For the last two weekends the web site has been down, there is no way to call or contact anyone I tired email and phone, no one cares
