“Customer Service is STOP ON!”

Kaila H.
11/6/23

I came in here to shout out the IPSY customer service. I have been a loyal IPSY user for 6+ years. The basic glam bag is plenty for me since I like to try items before I buy full size. Throughout the years I have had some problems with items (wrong shade, lost packages, late delivery, etc) and they have compensated those issues promptly and with understanding. Just recently was looking through the app and realized I never got my September package. They quickly replied to my issue and promptly sent me a new package with the same (or similar) items. 10/10 on the customer service!

I joined back up for Ipsy Glam Bag. The price is now a total of $7 more per month and the items were pathetic! I wound up canceling after 2 bags. What a shame that something that I was once so good has gotten disgraceful. A big waste of money!

Ipsy has outrageous value, even if you only end up loving 3 items out of the bag, you still got what you paid for. Also you're trying products out, that's the point of samples, so you're bound to not like something, and I can't imagine ipsy is doing it to hurt you personally. Also I love the bags, the gudetama was magic.

At first when I started receiving Ipsy nothing ever came in the bag that matched any of the interest that I had. Then I started receiving the pretty pink envelope completely empty. No bag at all but the never miss charging your account. No customer service phone number to complain to. Total waste of time!

Ipsy sent me an email (I used Ipsy back in 2020 so a marketing email) I opened the email and they auto charged my old card on file $164! You can not call anyone so am having to dispute the charge through my bank. Shame on you Ipsy.

Tip for consumers:
Do not click on the emails they send you if you have a past account

I tried Birchbox at first and really liked it. I put it on pause for a while. I just felt like I was getting more of the same. I tried Ipsy and it's very similar but more makeup products, which was a nice change for me at the time. I would suggest both equally, but if you want more makeup samples go with Ipsy.

I signed up and joined through Facebook to get off wait list. When I tried to order, I was told my address is invalid. I instantly canceled my subscription. Two days later $20 was taken off my credit card. I looked up their # and it's no longer in service. I don't recommend this company at all. Big scam!

I have had a glambag subscription for almost 2 years now, three bags never delivered and I got the run around on every one of them, they refuse to refund they will not reship, keep telling me tracking will update and sending me the same copy paste response, I had to contact my bank to have the charges reversed for November, December and January's bags. Also had my card double charged a couple of times, they took their time refunding the duplicated charge. The bags are cute and the products are nice, but it is sometimes hit or miss with the products. I had a few bags that I received that were nothing but lotions or self tanner and were disappointing. But other bags I received had full size items and were well worth it. Very disappointed in their response to items not delivering though, I am not sure what they mean by time frame for delivery when 3 months have passed with no bags received. It would be worth it if the bags actually would deliver.

I have been a loyal subscriber to Birchbox, until I found ipsy. I found that Birchbox sends me the same brands over and over, how many bottles of dry shampoo does one person need?
IPSY is a dream! I get a mini makeover every month! All the colors sent are fun, and useful. THEY ALL COME IN A MAKE UP BAG! The bags are have been fun,, bright, sophisticated or beachy. All are sturdy and a welcome pop of color in my purse. Best part, I can put the entire IPSY collection for that month away inside it, and done! TRY IPSY! You will have fun with it!
P.s. I did not "wait" on a list. I called customer service to inquire about the service, I received my first bag a couple of weeks later.

Biggest scam, worst products. I canceled my account 4 times and month after month. I keep getting billed. I contacted them and they canceled it. I just looked at my last credit card. There is another charge. I have never ever seen such a rip off company. Look at the reviews!

The product qualities overall themselves are pretty good. However, the personalization options I had chosen were not very accurate matches. I cancelled after one box and I was unaware that I also had to cancel the refreshments option. If you have subscribed to that; when you cancel your account it will not cancel the refreshments. You will still get charged monthly, and you must cancel that separately. I feel like this is a hidden fee for them to still make money even after you don't subscribe to the boxes anymore.

Tip for consumers:
I would not have subscribed to the refreshments option if I had known it would continue to charge my account even after canceling the boxes.

I signed up to get a free glam bag. Was charged for it. As I was signing up The site closed so I figured it didn't go through. Never got a email confirmation. Got charged for the free bag and bags after that. Tried to cancel. You can only cancel with an email. I never got a confirmation email. Trying to cancel they said they do not recognize my email. 1 800 number is not in service. The bot asked me to send my credit card information. They make it impossible to cancel. I had to go to the bank and pay to get a stop payment. The products are low quality dollar store Items.

My friend advised me to use IPSY, sent me an invitation to use the free bag for the first time, after which I signed up for the monthly subscription. After sending the bag, they inactivated my account, without warning in advance. In response to my letter, what was the problem, they answered that they noticed unusual activity, and the other questions about "what activity it is", "will my account be recovered", I did not get an answer.
I did not lose hope, I wrote to them from another e-mail, I told them the situation and will you believe that I received the same answer "unusual activity" ․
I am disappointed, I will never use their services and I will not advise anyone.
They do not have a basic culture of communicating with their customers.

I joined IPSY with a friend. We thought it would be fun. Trying new cosmetics & skin care. Why not?
Joined on April 2. Ordered the "glam bag" same day. The bag arrived 2 weeks later. I understand shipping delays due to covid. So. Fine. I then purchased a bunch of "add ons" on April 4. As of today...(April 20,2021) not delivered. Nor can I get any response from customer service. Status says shipped. No tracking or confirmation email. They were quick to take the payment from my account. Conveniently there are no refunds.
I think these beauty bags & boxes are a great idea. They are VERY poorly executed. No customer service & very delayed shipping are red flags.
Most likely coming from overseas. I had the same experience with BoxyCharm. I have cancelled my memeberships with these companies.

Tip for consumers:
IPSY bags are less expensive than most. At $12 a bag/month. The shipping is very delayed. Customer service is zero.

I was very excited to join Ipsy because a good friend recommended it. I upgraded to Glam Blag Plus and even purchased an added value product of Ciate mascara. However, when I went to use it this morning, it was dried out and unusable. The Shaina B eyeshadows were nothing but dust when applied. The cosmetic bag was so cheaply made that I've relegated it to a coin purse for my laundry trips. The Context nail polish is not even full size. Quite frankly, I'm not sure if I even want to use the facial masks. My gut tells me that the owners just buy cosmetics in bulk from China and attempt to package them nicely. I cancelled my membership today and I will make sure that they do not continue to charge me. Bottom line is that there are better kits out there; skip Ipsy.

Tip for consumers:
Don't fall for the hype or the "add-on" products. Higher quality products are available at Walgreens or Duane Reade.

Products used:
I tried most of them and not will continue to use any of the ones I tried.

Ipsy sure does draft my account on time the 1st every month but here it is August 19th and I get an email this morning stating my Ipsy bag SHOULD arrive on August 25th... Really? 25 days after you take my money... seems like it's taking longer each month. I'm done with them and no more referrals either

Ipsy is a very good deal to me. Once they understood my likes and dislikes(which I needed to provide them to know what I really want) I am extremely pleased with it and my other statement was quite premature. I really enjoy it. Go for it ladies!

I cancelled this subscription over a year ago and continue to get charged. I've emailed several times where they continue to tell me they aren't charging me. I cancelled this when I moved out of my violent ex boyfriends house. I have no idea if they are sending anything at all not that I would want anything. TRASH COMPANY. I'm over my money being stolen!

I was very disappointed in the samples I've received. I've never heard of any of the products. I tried them and felt like products I could get at a drug store. I'll give all my samples to my daughters for play makeup.

Ipsy seems like a great option to try multiple new products but beware the customer service is beyond appalling. It's not the 1st time that my order didn't arrive but this time they had the audacity to apologize then tell me I'd get a partial refund and a few worthless points. Seriously they are charging me for items never recieved and offering minimal reimbursement. I can't even believe this is legal. Modeler, the only way to communicate is through their email on their terms and I have never gotten resolution for the screw ups on their end. So sad.

Ipsy is trash. First of all, they're a total ripoff. The things they send are generally not useful. Not to say that everything they send is useless, but 9/10 times they are. I'm just so frustrated. I ordered a June glam bag at the end of May. It is now July 12,3 weeks after shipment in June. I assumed my bag was lost, so I requested a refund just to be met with "Although we don't issue refunds, we always offer replacements for lost or damaged items (as long as it's within 45 days of the original shipment date)." Really? What an absolute joke. I do not want a replacement. I don't ever, ever, ever want to work with Ipsy again. I understand not offering refunds in most situations, but not even when the issue is on THEIR end? I would never ask for a refund if it wasn't completely on them. Don't support this company, you're better off ripping your $12.84 up. Go support a local beauty company and give an honest business some love.

Tip for consumers:
Don’t support them. They only care about money and not about their customers.

Never give them you credit card info, they tried to stole money from me when I did not purchase their service. I've already given my infos when they told me i would be on a waiting list so I cancel everything, a few month later I see a charge on my credit card... when they refunded me they kept 17$...

I attempted to cancel my subscription after being placed on the wait list. Prior to entering your payment information, there is nothing about a wait list on any of their pages. Cancelling is easier said than done. There is no phone number for ipsy, nor can you just email them. You can only send them a form through their own contact page, which is sketchy. I received no reply from them to my cancellation request, and 2 weeks later they charged my card. I attempted contact again and received no reply after 3 days. So, I contacted the BBB and received a reply that day. They said they would refund me in "5-7" business days. It has been 8 and they have not refunded me, I have nothing pending at my bank from them, and they are again not answering me.

They send out a pretty decent variety of products, though it doesn't always match your profile. What helps more than your profile are your reviews; if you always rate liquid lipsticks pretty high they will probably send them pretty often, for example.

The thing I like about ipsy is that it's a good way to try out different brands/products/formulas. There's a mix of drugstore brands like NYX, higher-end brands (though these are more often sample or deluxe sample size rather than full size) and indie brands like colourpop. I've gotten things I wouldn't have bought (or even heard of) otherwise that I ended up loving. And even if I get a dud item now and then it's only $10 per month with a product value a lot higher than that, plus cute makeup bags.
