Been active on Listia for about 2 months. Already have well over 100 positive reviews - mostly selling but some buying. Haven't had a problem so far *knocks on wood." Couple of times I had a question for support and within a couple hours, I had well thought out, informative and helpful responses. Only issue is that I have one buyer that doesn't confirm delivery within a day or two like everyone else. Not that they open disputes or anything, it just locks up your funds until 20 days after payment way made. That's only 1 buyer out of dozens. Seems like they have really tightened things up in a good way since switching back to Points from Ink. Fill out some surveys and it's like free money. Highly recommend giving it a shot.
I bought a. 999 silver gram bar from what appeared to be a trusted seller but instead received a small silver grain bar about half the size of a gram. When I did all that listia asked me to do they said I didn't send pictures which I sent 3!. Regardless listia closed the account with no other options. The seller of course was happy to have my credits and not worry about making any other corrections as he can keep selling grains for grams and listia isn't incorporated enough like that of ebay, amazon or even etsy to manage a site such as this one. With all that said please do not misunderstand me there are many good sellers and buyers but listia is a great place for the con artist and listia will stand behind them.

Tip for consumers:
when buying silver ask to see it on a scale not just sheet pages.

I started trading on Listia from Day #3 of its launch. The credit concept is wonderful. I was an avid seller and bidder. Unfortunately, for the last few years, I've had to deal with their out-of-control inflation. I warned them of this three or four years ago, when it started to escalate. They did not act, but only replied that they were keeping an eye on it. Then they compounded the problem by offering 'Get it Now' purchases. Now sellers are asking astronomical amounts for their wares, often leaving out the auction process. I rarely list items anymore and will only bid on low-credit items on occasion. Listia must do something to curb the inflation or I see a demise of the site in the months ahead.
I was with Listia from Day 3 of launch. It had a rough start and then evolved into a fun site. Then they offered 'Get it Now' buying. As a result, inflation soared. Now they've jumped on the high-risk crypto currency bandwagon. During that transition, I spent down the credits I had and decided that Listia was no longer worth my time. It's so much cheaper to buy from eBay since many Listia sellers are listing their products at outrageous prices. Items I planned to sell on Listia are now being sold weekly at the local flea market. What doesn't sell goes to charity. I will maintain my membership should things change; but for now, goodbye, Listia.
I was excited when someone in my plant swap group referred me. Now I'm just pissed. I have only had 3 auctions. 2 are scammers. Not very good odds. I send what was promised plus extras and 15 days later no credits. One dispute who admitted to getting item and because they are idiots who can't read or be bothered to look it up I lose. No thanks! I love sharing all the wonderful things I have received. I'll stick to plant trades and craigslist.
Stay away! There is no real Listia Assurance. I lost over $50 worth of credits when a seller didn't sell me what was advertised (she actually sent me trash in the mail). Listia still let the seller keep the credits and never responded to my dispute. They also removed my ability to leave feedback for the transaction. It doesn't get any worse that this!
I have been a Member since Apr 16,2011. When I first joined the site it was awesome. I loved "buying" and "selling" things I was interested in, however they messed up with the "buy it now" option. Prices inflated and good items were harder to come by. Yet I stuck by their side. Now with this new crypto-currency taking hold on Listia it's a sinking ship. They're going down a very terrible path.
I have been a member since Aug 2012 and could not be happier. I read these bad reviews and wonder if there is something these folks just don't grasp. Yes, you can buy credits and support the site or earn them for free by taking surveys, completing goals or just watch a video. When you sell, I strongly advise to mail with tracking and save your own butt. Yes I had a buyer state her tracked item was not received. Sad sad sad. So yes there are the scammers on both ends. Just like court you need to prove your case with any dispute. No need to complain when it doesn't go your way. So get the clutter out of your house, list it and get what you want for free. This site is so easy to use. I'm not going anywhere.
Hi Sandi. Thanks for your review! We're glad to hear that you are happy with being a Listia member. And thank you for the advice you share with others. We rely on great users like yourself to allow a great experience for all :)
Listia banned my account because I referred the people who live in my house hold. Only 3 of us signed up but I was somehow banned. They stole money and credits from me. Do not download Listia, it is a scam.
Hi Anna. As written in our rules, if you have referred people who are on the same computer or in the same physical location as you, your referral will not be valid. If a referral is not valid the invited person will see a warning message about this at the top of their signup page. This rule is in place to prevent fraudulent referral activity from creating multiple accounts on the same computer or from the same location. Thank you for your understanding.
This site allows some to sell items & while they forbid others to sell the exact same item.
Items were removed several months back while there are sellers who are selling the exact same items and when those are flagged nothing is done about it.
Very unfair site, shady at best. And what's with all the credit hiking? Until they straighten out their act I will not return as a seller. I want 100% unbiased treatment however that will never happen.
Hi Giana. We're sorry to hear you feel you were treated unfairly. If something is not allowed on the site, we do not discriminate who can and cannot list the items. If you ever see this, please flag the auction and let us know through a support ticket if you still see it up. We hope you will return as a Seller soon.
This site is a joke. I've always shipped with DC and the TWO times I do not the winners claimed they never got their items. People are just on here looking for ways to get as much stuff for free without even spending the credits. What a joke. If you sell do not trust anyone to actually be honest that the received your items.
I'm really so upset about a problem that i'm having on Listia. I don't understand why the moderators dislike me so much.
I have been enjoying this site for months... i think i'm addicted to it... but that's going to have to change i guess. I had a really good auction of an old Waltham Pocket Watch of my Dad's. A lot of people were interested in it and i got a nice high bid. The person that won gave me positive feedback. And a couple days later wanted his credits back. The moderator sided with him, without telling me why. I had not broken any rules.
I guess the worst part is that i don't have 400,050 credits to refund. So i'm sure i will end up banned soon. Very sad and upset :(
Hi Janet. We're sorry to hear you're upset with the Admin's decision. If you haven't already, please submit a support ticket as we'd like to clarify the reason why the Admin refunded the credits to the Winner. We want to make sure you know why this action was taken. Thank you.
I won an auction in September, communicated w/seller, transferred $4.75 to her PayPal account for shipping. Seller acknowledged, sent tracking number, which did not work. Item never arrived, I contacted Listia who transferred the credits back to my account. My inquiries regarding the $4.75 shipping were ignored. They have a good idea but lousy customer service.
Tip for consumers:
Only bid on items w/free shipping. Listia will protect your credits, but not your actual money.
Hello Susan B.,
Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that the auction you won did not end successfully. I’m glad to hear your credits were refunded, but also share in the disappointment of the shipping payment you made. As much as we’d like to help you retrieve the shipping payment, as stated in our terms:
http://www.listia.com/terms
5. Shipping and Pickups
You agree to respond to all valid requests to ship or pickup items from closed auctions in a timely manner. Failure to promptly arrange for shipping or pickup of items may result in a forfeiture of credits. You agree to work out shipping expenses with the auction winner outside of the Site. Listia is not responsible for any lost shipping expenses and cannot refund or help recover shipping expenses for any reason, including lost or stolen items, damaged items or non-shipment.
Contacting PayPal to retrieve your payment would be the best option in your situation. As a future note, when using PayPal, don't send the payment as a gift or personal payment.
I hope your next auctions has a happier ending. If you need any other assistance, please submit a support ticket and we will help you there:)
Sincerely,
Tom
I have sold many of used toys, cds, books on Listia. It amazes me that everything I listed was sold, including even a Chinese movie, an artist graphics biography, a kid poetry book. The site is definitely easy and rewarding to use. I was able to buy new race car toy, some used puzzles and books for my kids before the Christmas.
I trust Listia, as if I don't get item auctioned, I would get my credits back through Listia moderators. Overall, I love this site.
Most users must know why I say that, listia id a total fraud and scam, if your membership is free of charge, one day they will ban you say you dishonest and try to scam their resources. Not recommended for everyone to use it.
Tip for consumers:
Do not pay to Listia
Products used:
Listia all winning bids items
Lots of junk. People list their used items and free samples with hopes of trading them into something better! I've been a member for about 4 months now and found a few good items but you need to search diligently through the listings and figure out if your actually paying more for the item with your credits than you would be paying with actual money. Had great hopes for this sight but all in all really disappointed.
I have used this site for over a year now. At first I was addicted but as time went by that feeling gave way to basic anger of the way Listia solves problems They send generic answers to problems that do not solve anything. For instance when an auction is closed and nothing has been resolved they send these generic answers that cannot help you because its closed and there are NO buttons that work to click on F#!*&^(*) very frustrating to say the least my credits they never credited me for was also given to me as a FU we did too Never did a human take a calculator to see they did screw me! Never did I get anything/problem solved with satisfaction! They never credited me for 3 of my auctions I held (total was around 7000) Plus 2 people ripped me off my shipping payments ($5.00) All this has sucked the fun out of Listia for me
Great so far. I did notice some of the negative feedback. In fairness if someone does not read the description or the shipping terms and ends up with something THEY misunderstood, that is not Listia's fault. If shipping says "digital" than it is a email not an actual item. Also, selling certain gift cards and getting suspended is also the users fault for not reading the terms and conditions. If a bidder does not receive what was stated credits will be returned. Important to READ and not get angry at a site for a personal mistake.
I love listia, because I can get rid of the stuff that has been laying around the house - things like cd's and my old stamp collection. In return, I can get gift cards or items my kids want for Christmas. Just like any other auction site, you do have to be careful who you do business with, but the choices are endless, and "free" is always good! I also like the sense of community that comes from doing business with the same people, as listia is still small enough to be personal, but big enough to have choices.
Listia is where sellers go when they've been banned from all of the other selling sites/apps.
This site is credit based, not only will you be unable
To get a straight answer as to the dollar value of a
Listia Credit, credits change value randomly.
Example: One day they will be selling 10,000 credits for $4,
The next day it will be 5,000 credits for $6.
Dupes, fakes, & recipes that can be googled make up the bulk of the items being sold.
Customer support is slow, robotic & frustrating.
Hi Bails,
Thank you for your feedback. Like most marketplaces, our credit value is based on the economy of our site. We're actively monitoring the value of our credits and one of our top priorities is to try and keep it stable. We do hope you continue to use Listia and find some amazing things our users list :)
Me and my hubby had been on listia for over 3 yrs, we cant log in since they have these screwed up letters you cant read! I emailed listia support several times and now 2 days later still cant log in. To top it off I am getting emails about items won from bidders. I cant mail my items as I dont have addresses for the winners!
I keep getting Nuts its disabled in your region! I am done, I keep my customers happy and am a honest seller and cant get on to mail my items.
Hello Theresa,
If you're having problems logging into your account please contact our support team so that we can look into it. They can be contacted here: https://help.listia.com/requests/new
For that matter, anyone who's got an issue that they'd like us to look into should use the above link to contact us about their specific situation. We cannot reply here but once a day per post, so it's really hard to get into the details when they're needed to address a situation. Thanks!
No help from support, always seems they don't even read emails, I know they must be busy, But I would rather wait weeks for a reply than just get a response that has nothing to do with my case, 2x now on 2 different problems they were of no help nor do they seem to care. If you have a problem with a buyer or seller you are on your own.
Use with Caution!
Even though I use listia for exposure, it is the slowest, most frustrating site I have ever used! So cumbersome to navigate around! No matter what your doing on the site, the page loading ADDS, and the traffic, has much problems with all the traffic! Just minutes ago, I was replying to a message, hit "reply" error message of to much site traffic - wiped out my whole message! Such a pain to deal with!
Hi Brett. I'm so sorry to hear about the inconvenience. Please submit a support ticket if the site is not working for you, that way we can identify the problem further.
I've been on Listia for three years now. At first, I sold and bought a lot of stuff. Then the pro sellers got on and prices started to get crazy. Now, it seems it is only professional sellers and everyone is charging outrageous shipping prices. You can't afford to bid on anything if you are only a part-time player.
Hi Debra. We're sorry to hear that you are not enjoying Listia as you did in the past. We are always open to our users' feedback and welcome them through our support tickets. Hopefully your experience with us will return to where it was was before. Thank you for your review.
As a premise, Listia is a nice idea: give away things you don't want or need any more, and bid for things you like. However, the very nature of human beings means it attracts a large number of undesirable individuals: fraudsters, scammers, cheats and leeches. Lots of the things being given away are little more than worthless rubbish (old bus tickets for example), while others are fakes and still others are very low quality costume jewelry one could buy from a high street store for next to nothing. Needless to say, most of the members are in the USA, and overseas members get a pretty rough deal, being expected to pay the postage both for items they give away, and items they bid on. Beware of scammers offering worthless goods and charging through postage.
Hi Matt P.,
Thanks for your feedback. We try our best to keep our site fun and safe for our users. Our mods and even users diligently flag and help remove any users that do not bring quality to the site and our valued users. At times, a few bad eggs get through, but we are aware and continue to make sure things are taken care of for our community's safety. As for postage, many members are from the US, but you'll be surprised to see how many of our users are not. As we continue to grow, I'm sure our members will be able to provide and find postage that is favorable for all. Thank you for being a user and we hope you continue to enjoy our site.
Sincerely,
Tom
Listia is a marketplace for Free Stuff where you can give away stuff you don't need anymore and get stuff you want in return for free. It's fun, free and very easy to use.
Hi Jimmy D.,
Thanks for your feedback. Could you provide me with your username? I'd like to look into this and get back to you.
Thanks!
Tom
