Listia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 415 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Listia most frequently mention customer service, gift card, and many people problems. Listia ranks 186th among Auction sites.
Been active on Listia for about 2 months. Already have well over 100 positive reviews - mostly selling but some buying. Haven't had a problem so far *knocks on wood." Couple of times I had a question for support and within a couple hours, I had well thought out, informative and helpful responses. Only issue is that I have one buyer that doesn't confirm delivery within a day or two like everyone else. Not that they open disputes or anything, it just locks up your funds until 20 days after payment way made. That's only 1 buyer out of dozens. Seems like they have really tightened things up in a good way since switching back to Points from Ink. Fill out some surveys and it's like free money. Highly recommend giving it a shot.
I bought a. 999 silver gram bar from what appeared to be a trusted seller but instead received a small silver grain bar about half the size of a gram. When I did all that listia asked me to do they said I didn't send pictures which I sent 3!. Regardless listia closed the account with no other options. The seller of course was happy to have my credits and not worry about making any other corrections as he can keep selling grains for grams and listia isn't incorporated enough like that of ebay, amazon or even etsy to manage a site such as this one. With all that said please do not misunderstand me there are many good sellers and buyers but listia is a great place for the con artist and listia will stand behind them.
Stay away from this website. The owners seem to have a million accounts and just award themselves credits to buy up anything good. You can spot some of them easy though. Biggest and most obvious gimmick around. You'll find they are often the 'buyers' who don't pay up, until say 20 days has passed, will you get the payment, worthless credits that they are? Possibly not. As for the users of the site, the regular users are the scum of the Earth, the type eBay would ban at a moments notice. So if you really want the stress for a few worthless credits, and really want to give up your personal details to angry weirdo's, then Listia is the place for you.
Listia started out to be wonderful but now they are getting credit hungry and if you have an object that is worth more credits they have several different credit fees- very disappointed and am thinking about looking elsewhere.
Tom is always sorry to hear about the 1000's of complaints members of his website have. But never accepts responsibility for anything. It's always someone's else's fault.
Tom F. Always uses a cut and paste response.
Tom F. Never has any actual solution for the problem. Just some vague response to make it seem like he cares.
Tom F. Has apologized over 1000 times on behalf of listia.
Hey tom. If your constantly apologizing. Maybe you should recognize the problems and fix them instead of being the stooge who is dumb to the facts...->. F, Tom F...
I've gotten a lot of great things from Listia. Things I would have probably paid a lot of money for on ebay, so in that respect, I love the site. It gets expensive giving out free shipping when listing your own auctions, but I think the costs I've paid for shipping are kind of an exchange for the cool stuff I've received. Now, there IS a ghetto section of Listia that makes me cringe. Almost everything in the 'Digital Delivery' section is ridiculous. They should only allow gift cards. Period. I've seen what looks like 16 year old girls listing 'PICS OF ME' and crappy wallpapers and recipes you could get from google in three seconds. It's really creepy and makes me ashamed to share the site with others.
I was really enjoying this site for a couple of months, really liked sending and receiving things from all over the world. Very user friendly. Unfortunately, my account was suspended for reasons that were not true. They said that I was bidding on my own auctions to "funnel" credits. This came about because my son bid on one of my auctions to win something for his girlfriend for Valentine's Day. He has his own account, that he was logged into from his own phone. They said that we had the same IP address. There is no way in the world that this is true. There is something seriously wrong with their system that would allow them to think that.
It is not a scam or a rip off site, but they have problems that still need to be worked out. So do not get too involved, sending your goodies all over the world because if they shut off your account, you lose everything.
Credit to dollar ratio sucks, good luck even getting credits back on your shipping cost! I'm done selling until the credits comeback down! Ever since they instituted the sell your credit, the ratio has been going up. My guess is the power sellers sell their items in large chunk, turn around and set their credits for sale at a stupid ratio like 8500 to the dollar. But listia does not care they take 20% of the money you make from selling your credits. Hell even Ebay does not take 20% common already!
Hi Chris. We do not have an actual credit-to-cash ratio as it is determined by the ever-changing dynamic marketplace and it will vary. Therefore, you will see fluctuation. Hope this clears things up for you.
I listed a piece of furniture For Pick Up Only. A person on the other side of California bought it, and asked me to ship it to them. Really? Then gave me bad feedback for not shipping a desk 500 miles. Listia ignored my messages. I closed my account. Too many non-shippers and weird people. 5 out of 10 never shipped items. Too much inflation with the credit system, too.
Hi Gail. We're sorry to hear about this. If your auction was properly listed as local pick up only, there should not have been an issue with your feedback as long as you did not voluntarily refund the credits. We can look into this for you again if you'd like. Please submit a support ticket if you'd like further assistance.
I really enjoy Listia. It reminds me of the way ebay used to be, which means dealing with individual sellers. Most of the complaints here seem to be solved by "buyer beware" - if you buy from a seller with a low rating, well, you know what you are getting into. I've won brand new Urban Decay makeup (on Listia) and a ton of new unique and vintage jewelry. I love it! Things I didn't want and would have thrown out have been transformed into Jewelry and I didn't pay anything to make it happen. I only bid on things with free shipping. I spend a lot of time on there and always have fun searching for ending soonest
They allow minor children to do commerce to falsely inflate their enrollment numbers to sell ads, listia is run with no integrity, I do not believe they should allow "FU" bumper stickers, porn and knives to be sold to 8 years old from facebook, this site needs to be shut down and the people running it need to be arrested for fraud among other things. After I out this posting up, they suspended from their site, they stole over 118,000 of my credits. Go look up the lawsuit, where they had to pay for almost $200,000 in back pay for their employees, that tried to pay in their devalued "credits" and or called them volunteers, the people running this site are thieves from another country, they need to go the prison.
Tip for consumers:
The problem with this site is they allow children on it, and there is no accountability for bad behavior. You can sell knives and guns and even porn magazines and allow children to purchase them. This site needs to be shut down.
Mary B.,
I’m sorry to hear your feedback. As stated in our Terms of Service:

We don’t claim to be perfect, but we do try our best to maintain a safe and fun marketplace. We appreciate your understanding and hopefully you will continue to use Listia as we appreciate our great users.
Sincerely,

Awful awful site. It used to be good.
But they don't care about your privacy! Contacted them about it and they didn't even touch on it at all.
A lot of scammers on there & people putting recipes that they clearly took from other sites.
Run far away!
I bought and sold on Listia for a couple of years There is more and more drop ship stuff from Hong Kong and China than anything else. It's basically the same stuff as Wish sells. After making 2 fairly large purchases and never receiving my merchandise and being told by Listia that I was not getting my credits back, I'm done. Basically they are thieves.
Tom- the credit value is making it impossible for sellers to make any credit value at all or even spend it! IT seems the bottoming out of the value of credits is happening every couple of weeks now! 1000 credits is about 20 cents and no one in Listia admin raises the starting of 499 to make it even possible to cover an envelope postage as it used to be. Why on earth are you making the credits so value-less? You want buyers to BUY more from you but your SELLERS are the bread & butter for your company and you are chasing them away! I see the quality of items listed decreasing too, all because no one can get anything for their items!
As an experienced and avid seller ( and buyer) I am getting very distraught.
What is Listia trying to do here? Truthfully! I'd really like to hear the reasoning...
PLUS the rewards store is boring and worthless but that's a different story...
Hello Em H.,
First off, I’d like to apologize for any frustration this has caused. I will try to best explain the reason behind the credits not being released immediately
As you know, immediate transfer of credits is a courtesy that we extend to our most Trusted Sellers. In some cases, even for Trusted Sellers, credits will go into a pending state. This will occur from time to time based on your trusted credit amount, credits being used on the items you are currently bidding on, and your completion rate. You currently have a specific amount in your trusted limit of credits. When you win an auction, such as your most recent won auctions, you are using a portion of that trusted credits in your credit balance. This is why some of your recently sold auctions are pending because we don't "advance" more than the total amount of credits currently at a time.
I hope this answers your question and helps you better understand the process of how credits immediately transfer to your account.
Thank you.
Tom
A lot of you people here leaving whiny reviews are just either lazy, boring or greedy. Listia has some of the most unique items, down to Earth people. I have ever bet! With most things in life you get back what you put into it. Some of you I can tell didn't and you don't know how to be successful and then you cry that it stinks. Listia ROCKS!
Yet another suspended account. My, husband and I share address (no $#*!?) and we have the same IP address (shocking, no?). I used his device and logged in... they banned his account but left mine... why his? My account had 5000 points... his had over 200,000...
Listia is a bunch of crooks being watched over by a small group of crooks...
Listia sucks... do NOT stockpile points--they WILL steal them from you somehow!
Hi Denise M,
Sorry to hear about this but there may have been a misunderstanding. So that we can look into this for you and your husband, can you please contact us here? We look forward to helping you get this resolved. https://help.listia.com/requests/new
Because Listia is selling credits for their gift cards up front of every other seller, you pay for shipping upfront from your pocket about 2.5 month before your credits are sold. Listia is selling cards digital delivery, so they have money right away and no need to pull any money out of their pocket. It is so ridiculous to even try to get friends involved with Listia, because I would feel guilty to send them such a unfair side! I'm with listia for about 5 years, but with in 2 month I will not put anything anymore, because they only wasting my own money! If you see reply on comments from listia, it is never to someone who is unhappy with Listia. I wish, they would give me explanation I deserve. Weekly I ship and pay with my money for shipping, in average $30-$35 from my pocket. Money for Credits I will get for these shipments in about 2 month!
I have been selling on Listia for a year now. I sell small items I no longer want or new gifts I can't return. It is a fun way to stay on top of clutter and earn points for things you do want. Start small, though. Shipping costs need to be factored in before you list. That is why I stick to small, lightweight items like jewelry and bookmarks.
Thanks for sharing your experience and tips, Lisa!
I have been a member for almost 2 years. I have won some great items and given away many great items. There are always bad apples that spoil things, but you have to be smart and read the listings and comments. I have had a couple of bad sellers not follow through, but you get that on any auction site. Ebay has scammers and fraudulent sellers as well. Most often the ones who complain are the ones who were suspended for violation the rules, *They are sent an email with the reason for suspension. I love Listia and will continue to be on there offering my items and winning more great things.
When I started on Listia at least a couple of years ago, credits were I believe worth about $1= 1000 credits, and they were fairly stable for quite a while. I really haven't followed it very closely recently, but I believe the inflation started about a year ago and now is just out of control. I just checked the going rate on 5/10/16, they are now going for $1=9100 credits. So my approx. ******* credits instead of being worth about $25 are now worth approx. $2.75.
Management does not seem to care and just keeps on issuing more credits in different ways, so I see no end in site for this hyperinflation.
I got stuck with my credits, I bought some to purchase something, won the item. Seller did not ship or respond to me. Although at the time Listia refunded for some of my purchased credits I had to keep some. They will not refund anymore for purchased credits even if sellers don't complete sale.
Stay far away, very far away unless you plan on using your credits very quickly.
I enjoy the idea of listia. And I really loved listia when I first joined, all the way up until about 1/2015. Something happened where they changed the credit value, and all the sudden items that were once 20,000 credits were now 85,000 credits. I wish I'd have held on to some of my stuff a bit longer since the credits have quadrupled in value in just a few short months. Then they changed the format of the rewards store where you could go and redeem awesome items immediately for the credits you accumulated. Well now the rewards store is an auction where you cannot get anything immediately, and the amount of credits these rewards store auctions end for is absolutely ridiculous compared to what they were listing as get it now offers just 6 months ago. But I've never had a problem with my account being suspended, I have however had to deal with not so pleasant moderators... :(
HI Stephanie,
Thanks for your review and feedback. Any changes we make on the site are carefully thought out to make the sight better for all. We always welcome feedback. Thanks for being a valuable member.
Sincerely,
Tom
I have used Listia a few years off and on. I have had haters, liars, and cheats over and again on this site. One person never sent her item claiming she was too busy to get it out. But, looking at all her feedback she left others, she did that to all the people. I had one lady get a watch from me, never left feedback, quit Listia and I had to wait forever to get the credits. One lady said she received the envelope but nothing was in it, now why would I do that? Then she asked for her credits back. WHATEVER! I am done selling on Listia and will try to close my account when I receive the last of the items.
I've been using listia for about 2 months and can't WAIT to close my account. You list an item/people place 'point' bids, then you take your points and bid on something you want. Problem? There is such a fuss over buyer seller ratings, mistakes are rarely tolerated, some members don't look old enough to be in high school yet, and a whole lot of badmouthing and complaining. One of the first items i put up for auction was a set of 'one-of-a-kind glassware worth over $100. I got 1 bid for **1 point**!. My listing said 'local pickup only', the winner(for *1* point) was from the west coast and has been sending me hate-email for not shipping it... get the Idea? Absolutely NOT worth the trouble, unless you have nothing to do BUT play listia games. H A T E D I T!
Horrible they scam you constantly this woman named freshpeachez23 buys things from the dollar tree and sells them over priced! For the teeny bit of points u get when you first start out! More than a few people are doing this! DESPICABLE!

I've never left a review before in my life, but I just happened to Google Listia and saw the overwhelming number of negative reviews. My experience has been nothing like these and I've had dozens if not 100 or more transactions on the site.
Aside from a handful of disappointing experiences, which I think should be expected on any site like this, I've continually enjoyed the experience. Admins have been very helpful in the rare instances that I've needed them.
This is a unique concept that I feel is being managed quite effectively. Assuming these users pay attention to exchange rates to get a good idea of what to expect and only interact trusted users, I'm surprised to see so many one-star reviews.
I don't doubt the validity of anybody else's account, but I just wanted to provide my perspective as a consistently satisfied user.
Hi. Thanks for the review! We're glad that you have been enjoying your experience with us. We do acknowledge that at times some auctions don't end favorably, but the majority of them do complete with a positive experience for both parties. We are always working on making sure the Listia community remains fun for all. We're glad you are satisfied and that you are part of our community. Thanks!
Used to be fun in the begining, now it's just a bunch of rude a-holes who want to try and rip you off. WAY to many people using it as a business site, ripping you off by charging to any points, then wanting more $ for shipping. I can go buy half the stuff myself... cheaper than points plus shipping. How but that!?!?!?! Now my wife got banned because some stupid chic running a business thru Listia screwed up and shipped the wrong item, and then called her a liar. Total B. S. site now. We both had 100% positive feedback. Won't ever use it again, total rip off with rude $#*! people now.
Hi Andy,
We're sorry to hear of your experience. We hope your concerns were submitted through a support ticket so that we were made aware of the situation. As for your wife's account, it would not have been banned for the reason you stated. Please have her submit a support ticket if she has not already. We can look into things for her. We hope you will continue to use Listia. We have many great users and items on the site, despite your previous experience.
Listia is a marketplace for Free Stuff where you can give away stuff you don't need anymore and get stuff you want in return for free. It's fun, free and very easy to use.
Hello Lauren E.,
Thank you for comments and feedback. We are always focusing on improving our community and positively grow our site. The majority of the auctions on Listia are great items, but there are times when certain auctions may not add great value to our site and its users. We have always strived to maintain a quality site and will continue to do so. As announced on November 3, our rules on Digital Delivery items have changed. You can read all about it here:
http://blog.listia.com/2014/11/03/rule-changes-for-digital-items-2/
In short, digital items that are are no longer allowed are:
- E-books and PDFs, including instructions, recipes, how-to guides, etc
- All other types of digital media (photos, music, text, etc) regardless of copyright ownership or resale rights
With this rule change, you should no longer see the “PICS OF ME”, wallpapers and recipes that you referred to. If you do, you can always flag the auction and someone will take care of it.
Thank you again for the feedback and for being an active member. We hope that your experience on Listia will continue to be a good one!
Sincerely,
Tom
