Listia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 415 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Listia most frequently mention customer service, gift card, and many people problems. Listia ranks 186th among Auction sites.
Been active on Listia for about 2 months. Already have well over 100 positive reviews - mostly selling but some buying. Haven't had a problem so far *knocks on wood." Couple of times I had a question for support and within a couple hours, I had well thought out, informative and helpful responses. Only issue is that I have one buyer that doesn't confirm delivery within a day or two like everyone else. Not that they open disputes or anything, it just locks up your funds until 20 days after payment way made. That's only 1 buyer out of dozens. Seems like they have really tightened things up in a good way since switching back to Points from Ink. Fill out some surveys and it's like free money. Highly recommend giving it a shot.
I bought a. 999 silver gram bar from what appeared to be a trusted seller but instead received a small silver grain bar about half the size of a gram. When I did all that listia asked me to do they said I didn't send pictures which I sent 3!. Regardless listia closed the account with no other options. The seller of course was happy to have my credits and not worry about making any other corrections as he can keep selling grains for grams and listia isn't incorporated enough like that of ebay, amazon or even etsy to manage a site such as this one. With all that said please do not misunderstand me there are many good sellers and buyers but listia is a great place for the con artist and listia will stand behind them.
Credits are not worthy what used be in 2012- 2014 $1=1000 f*ck you listia bring back the old site.
Won: $2,750 gifts cards and electronics.
Lost $324.00
My last day i scammed $450.00 worth gift cards and my account suspended till now.
$2,750+$450 you do the math.
I think people need to realize that you can't trust anything for face value. I'm new to Listia and I reported some middle schooler trying to auction off 2 laptops, and he was using images from Ebay, of all places. I got on the next day and his auctions had been deleted by Listia. So far I have won a $5 Starbucks Giftcard and a coupon for a free tub of Pillsbury Dough (cookie dough, biscuits etc.)
I think people just need to do a bit of research. If it looks like a stock image, you can drop the image into Google image search and it will find any versions of that picture on the internet. I do agree that Listia staff need their customer service skills looked at, but most of this stuff could be handles by people being a bit more cautious with what they bid on. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is!
First it was a great site to sell as other reviewers mention. But the credits devalue very quickly so I highly recommend you buy something as soon as you sell. Also, there are a lot of foreign sellers now selling cheap foreign made items. This site use to have a big garage sale or flea market feel, now it has a "Big-Lots" feel to it.
Listia doesn't care about abiding by the law when it comes to keeping the site honest. Instead of responding to and removing listings reported as counterfeit. The law requires sellers to know items are authentic or they can't be listed but Listia disclaims responsibility, stating their lack of knowledge. That's not good enough! Like Ebay, Vestiaire, Fashionphile, Bonanza, and other sites, Listia needs to employ experts who DO have knowledge and remove illegal items.
I spent $75 on credits to win an auction. I won it then went in hospital and with pain meds forgot to verify address so lost all credits and never got item. The seller relisted and sold it again.
Also credits are worth hardly anything now. Used to be credits were worth more.
Hi Alberta. We're sorry to hear about this. If you haven’t already, please submit a support ticket explaining your situation so we can review this for you. Usually if your address isn’t given within the required time frame, the credits will advance to the seller. Thank you for your understanding.
When you look into the past of this site, you will see most of the "auctions" come out of China, where you have to pay shipping and handling, also provide your credit card number. Despite that, the site use to be fun. Could get some great items real cheap if we're talking "credits." Now that XNX is here, it's like you need a wheelbarrow full of XNX, where before it would only cost a few credits or so. Got ripped off a few times by "buyers." They took my merchandise and also demanded a refund (and got it). Honestly, this site now leaves you wide open to identity theft and getting ripped off as well. It is going to be totally awesome in a couple weeks when Trump places the tariffs on China and leaves them high and dry. In the meantime it's time to ditch this site. There is no way possible that Listia does not know what is going on, nor can they deny being part of this racket!
For all the people listia had scam, discretieded, wasted their time, money, and effort,; they need to be sued. Listia doesn't abide by their own terms of service so I don't know why they would expect any one else to.
Hi Melanie,
We're sorry you feel this way, but contrary to what you think we definitely abide by our own terms of service and rules. We have them and follow them strictly to ensure our site continues to remain fun and safe for our great users.
Sincerely,
Tom
Most of the people who bid are scammers. I sent an item to someone who won the bid, watched as it was delivered by tracking, and they had the gall to try and say they did not get it.
Not only that, but "Everything is free!" is a crock. 98% of the items you have to pay shipping and handling, and most of the people charge an arm and leg. A five dollar necklace was free, yes, but the shipping and handling was $14.95. They lived one state over. I mean c'mon!? That's more than the necklace itself was worth on Amazon! Not only that, but you have to pay for more credits if you are one of the people that has nothing to list. You get 700 credits for listing an auction, but if you don't have anything extra to give, say bye bye to those credits unless you want to pay.
Honestly, you'd be better off just avoiding this site. The items with no shipping and handling are crap anyway, and that's if you even win the bid. I've seen bids get up pretty high. Listia... totally not worth it.
This site is badly administered by a group of moderators who have little or no sense of logic, or fairness. Sellers are allowed to auction things which are totally unusable, with no penalty. Support requests are often ignored, or can take as long as 10 days to be reiognized. After over a year on this site, I have concluded that it is easier, less frustrating, and ultimately, less expensive to simply purchase those items I need or desire. Don't waste your time!
Out of all my winnings i never received more than half. Ppl will say they never got your auction when they did them tell admin that way they would get your auction and keep the credits
Yes its happen to me. Its all bull$#*!
Hi Chas,
We're sorry to hear that you have only received half your winnings. Hopefully you were able to get a refund. We don't require, but highly suggest Sellers to use tracking so that we know an item was sent and received. Otherwise, our Admins use the information provided to make the best decision in a dispute. We hope that your future transactions will be more successful.
I have been buying and selling on Listia. For over a year! I mainly sell beads and jewelry making supplies and I turn around my credits and buy all sorts of things for my family! I have purchased gifts, toys, clothing, craft supplies, and many many gift cards at Listia.com. I actually funded a large portion of my Christmas shopping with gift cards from Listia this year. I have occasionally had difficulty with individual users, but there are always bad apples out there... but the site itself is GREAT! Thanks Listia!
I made a account with this site a while ago. But a day ago I tried 20 times to log on and it would tell me user or password was incorrect so I made a new account. And today I put money onto my account and within twenty minutes they banned my account and took my money and credits. And won't give back money or add to old account which right after they banned me I was able to sign in. Talking to my lawyer about what I can do. Site is a sad excuse of a good idea. Maybe if they won't steal your money and allow scammers all over their site take credits from good people. But a mom of two boys can't get on and get craft stuff for her sons gets banned and her money stolen. Sorry pieces of s**t.
Hi Melissa. We're sorry to hear about this situation. If you haven’t already, please submit a support ticket explaining your account so we can review this for you. Usually if we review your account and it is a duplicate, we will remove the second account. Hopefully we can find the right account for you so your money is returned. Thank you for your understanding.
This app has gone completely downhill! They change currencies what seems like every six months and make your current currency worth nothing when they do so. Sellers mostly never send out what you buy and when you try and get your credits back they don't do anything about it... waste of money and time! Don't use this scam app! You are warned!
Tip for consumers:
Don't waste your time or money app is a scam!
Products used:
Toys , Action figures
Wow! I should have read the reviews before listing on this site. I listed a nice ring for what they use "points:. I listed it for 2000 points. I never received a confirmation of how many points I was charging etc. It was an auction for a week. Then I get a weird email asking for shipping and stating I sold it for 51 points. Then I click on the reply button to tell this person I didn't sell it for that amount and I get this advertisement. A Listia advertisement using my ring in the ad stating I was giving it away for free! "How would you like to get an item like this ring!"
Tip for consumers:
This is so ridiculous and obviously ran out of a home. This isn't a true legit business. It's so unprofessionall!
Hi Devra,
Sorry to hear you're unhappy with your transaction. When you signed up to use our service, you agree to auction off your item for whatever final bid it receives. We have start bids for auctions if there is a minimum credit amount the Seller is willing to sell their auction for. I'm sorry if your auction item did not reach the amount of credits you were hoping for when listing.
As for your auction being used in an ad, the site may generate example auctions that are listed on our site and yours may have been included.
We hope you will give us another try as we have a great community of users.
Sincerely,
Tom
I have had many problems in the past year of selling. I do continue to sell because I am hooked. There are two big problems with this site: They want you not to charge for shipping. The amount of credits you earn does NOT cover your shipping cost. So in the end you end of up loosing. Another problem is all the auctions from china. They consume the site and it ends up being all junk for auction
Credits are pretty much worthless compared to a year ago. To win an a $15 gift card use to be a max bid of 42,000 now it is well over 142,000
Hi Brittnay. Thanks for your review and feedback. We understand your concern for the credit value. Like most marketplaces, our credit value is based on the economy of our site. We're actively monitoring the value of our credits and one of our top priorities is to try and keep it stable. We hope you can continue to enjoy your experience on Listia.
It has some good and bad things. First the good is I like you can ear points. Bad though is there is really not a lot of nice things you can earn with the points, people list their stuff way way way to high. Also I don't like that you have to verify your address it is very annoying. Plus I got yelled at on Listia by a seller that listed an item that I had at home. They said that it was this really fine piece of jewelry but I know I bought the same exact piece at Walmart for 5 dollars. Also bidding is way to competitive. I feel like you never win anything.
Hi Leah. Thanks for your review. We require an address verification to make sure the address is valid so that the Seller is not at a loss when the item is shipped and the item actually reaches it's destination. As for the listings, since they are members' items, the type and value (to the user) will vary. We hope you can continue to use and enjoy Listia.
I don't understand if you advertise Free Shipping then it should be just that. I have noticed people being bold enough to post within their ads that the cost of a particular item is as such and figured using credit exchange ratio and adding into that figure the shipping cost. Well let me be the first to inform anyone that figuring the cost of free shipping into the listing amounts is not free shipping and the moderators need to get on the ball sorting those people out and insisting they deduct the shipping amounts from their listings. This needs to be dealt with asap. People don't like being taken advantage of. You can sort out only the free shipping listings but many of those post that free shipping has been added to the listing amounts. This is no fair
Trading practices.
Lista fixes bids! I bid on an item up to the last second which was like 3:30 but they let someone win who haden't bid since 2:30 according to there own bid listing mind you! That side is a waste of time. And on top of it to many people on there playing games I had someone who won my auction but they never would give me a real name to send it to so they never got it. Sounded to shady! Sorry to say I will leave Lista it's not right.
Tip for consumers:
Be careful.
Hello, Listia doesn't allow bid fixing. We'll be happy to check in to any problems you have had. Please open a support ticket and reference my name, and SiteJabber.
Thank you,
Tom
I have tried to contact them several times, always get "generic email" which is no help. Purchased credits at another site and filled their requirements to get more credits with Listia but never got credits. Back and forth and back and forth. This site is a bunch of crap, never get any help just run around. Don't join this site, it's more nightmares than anything. They don't care about their members at all!
This site used to be a good site with honorable people where you rarely got cheated but they've changed their policies in a way that benefits "new" users who want to scam you and since you can't leave negative feedback, they can bully and harass and then leave "neutral" feedback that leaves a permanent stain on your record. And support is a joke. They just give you canned answers and don't do anything for their loyal users that helped them grow to who they are now.
Hi Lisa,
I'm so sorry to hear that this happened to you on our site. So that we can look into it, can you please give me your username (so that I can open a support ticket on your behalf and reach out to you) and a link to the auction(s) where this happened?
I'll be happy to look into this for you and help get the issue resolved. Thanks.
Tom
Just this week they removed 3 of my listings because I only listed one of each per listing. They wanted 5 or more in each listing but my experience has proved that a multi item listing does not earn enough credits to cover the cost of the item and the shipping. It was the 3rd time I've been reprimanded and the second time they removed my listings. They should also allow a reserve. Debra H. Said it used to be fun and I agree, but not anymore. Mostly Chinese listings with no free shipping.
I am just here to tell everything that the bad experiences are from their own mistakes. You must do your research before you bid to make sure that you are bidding on a legit item that you will receive. Contact the winners of their previous auctions to confirm that they will ship to you.
I won a 3,300 credit bid for 6 games on a Thursday morning. By Saturday, it was already shipped out. By the following Thursday, the games were in my possession and all worked as stated.
The only bad experience I had was all of the auctions that were stolen right out from under me when someone bid higher than me right before it ended.
As for the cost of shipping, only look for Free Shipping auctions to get the best deals. This minimizes the shipping troubles. It also allows sellers to send stuff completely free since you can ship most of the stuff on Listia for free anyway through USPS.
I have written 2 reviews for Listia, and the first review I posted, got a reply! But now they REFUSE to write back and even TRY to make amends... or right the wrong that was done to me! My reviews will never change unless something is done!
The people who run the site I scammers! They DO NOT provide fair rulings on conflicts! Even when tracking is used they come down in favor of the other person, no matter how rude or nasty that person maybe
I like listia, have used it almost a year, but the nasty people are just ruining it. Last one called me a liar and now that feedback is at the top of the list. Should just have the rating and no comments from nasty people. I have a good rating (100%) and trusted seller badge, etc, but that is the feedback at the top that others see first. It is not our fault if the person is too dumb to use tracking and so the post office loses an item, and we the honest ones suffer for it. Leaving after i receive the last item i won.
Tip for consumers:
nothing would help, a lot of the trusted sellers cannot be trusted, and if an item gets lost, which is no ones fault, they can be nasty with impunity.
Oh oh Kate V,
Sorry to hear about that. So that we can look into it, will you please contact us via a support ticket and include the auction link in it? We'll be happy to look into it. You can contact us here: https://help.listia.com/requests/new
Thanks!
Well, I've spent almost $40 in shipping for stuff that earned me enough points to get a $15 Amazon gift card of $15 worth of silver in a Listia medallion. Fun at first, but people don't let you know they got the stuff so you have to wait 20 days for points. Sure you can earn points by "completing offers"... but you are just being data-mined.
There are some nice people, but there are some miserable people, and it is the miserable people who make me say "enough!"
Tip for consumers:
Sell items that only cost a postage stamp to send, otherwise you are losing money big time.
Hi Rainy M.,
Thank you for your feedback. We try our best to maintain a fun and safe site for our community of users. We encourage users to be mindful of other users' time, but of course there are instances where some uncommitted user ruins an experience for another. We hope this is not the end of your time with Listia. The vast majority of our users are on Listia to have and give a positive experience.
Sincerely,
Tom
Listia is a marketplace for Free Stuff where you can give away stuff you don't need anymore and get stuff you want in return for free. It's fun, free and very easy to use.
Hi B. B.,
We're sorry that you feel this way, but there is no pretense. We suspend users after careful investigation and evident proof that a site rule or terms of service was violated. Also, our terms of service clearly states:
When you receive a Credit, Listia hereby grants you a limited license ("Credit License") to use the Credit as a virtual token to be held, bartered, traded and/or transferred on the Site with other users (and/or Listia), in exchange for permission to access and use content, applications, services, and various user-listed items, in accordance with these Terms of Service. The Credit License is transferable by the holder to any other user, provided that both users comply with these Terms of Service and maintain their accounts in good standing. Except as expressly permitted by this Agreement or otherwise expressly permitted by Listia, the Credit License may not be sublicensed, encumbered, conveyed or made subject to any right of survivorship or other disposition by operation of law or otherwise, and you agree that any attempted disposition in violation of these Terms of Service is null and void. Listia may revoke the Credit License at any time without notice, refund or compensation in the event that: (i) the Credit program is suspended or terminated; (ii) Listia determines that the account holder has committed fraud or other illegal conduct; (iii) Listia imposes an expiration date on usage of Credits in compliance with applicable laws and regulations; (iv) the holder's Account is terminated for violation of these Terms of Service; or (v) the holder ceases to maintain an active account or terminates this Agreement.
Therefore, we are not stealing any credits. Any credits earned through a violation of our site terms is deemed void since it was acquired fraudulently. I hope we were able to clarify things for you.
Sincerely,
Tom
