Listia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 415 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Listia most frequently mention customer service, gift card, and many people problems. Listia ranks 186th among Auction sites.
Been active on Listia for about 2 months. Already have well over 100 positive reviews - mostly selling but some buying. Haven't had a problem so far *knocks on wood." Couple of times I had a question for support and within a couple hours, I had well thought out, informative and helpful responses. Only issue is that I have one buyer that doesn't confirm delivery within a day or two like everyone else. Not that they open disputes or anything, it just locks up your funds until 20 days after payment way made. That's only 1 buyer out of dozens. Seems like they have really tightened things up in a good way since switching back to Points from Ink. Fill out some surveys and it's like free money. Highly recommend giving it a shot.
I bought a. 999 silver gram bar from what appeared to be a trusted seller but instead received a small silver grain bar about half the size of a gram. When I did all that listia asked me to do they said I didn't send pictures which I sent 3!. Regardless listia closed the account with no other options. The seller of course was happy to have my credits and not worry about making any other corrections as he can keep selling grains for grams and listia isn't incorporated enough like that of ebay, amazon or even etsy to manage a site such as this one. With all that said please do not misunderstand me there are many good sellers and buyers but listia is a great place for the con artist and listia will stand behind them.
Firstly listia seemed fun and exciting but then it got horrible. My auction clearly said digital delivery and in the description it said its a digital delivery but I had to refund it.
Secondly after working hard and putting up auctions I managed to get myself some credits and a very great buyer who would bid on almost all my auctions and give me great feedback, listia suspended my account for funneling? What? NO PROOF!
A year ago a friend of mine said her listia account was suspended for no reason after she had 7,000 credits.
LISTIA IS A SCAM
BE AWARE
I had asked a lot of my friends and family to try this but now I will TELL THEM ABOUT THIS SCAM
Listia is a fun way to get rid of things you don't need anymore and trade them for things you want for free. The community is all about giving and getting :)
Have you noticed that listia reduced the price that they sell there credits this makes everyones stash of credits worth less and every thing on listia cost more
Hello Gregory,
As you may know, Listia is an online marketplace where you win other people's stuff using credits instead of money. It's up to the Seller to decide what they want to list their auction item for, using a Starting Bid amount. We do not have a credit-to-cash ratio as it varies from category to category, and from listing to listing. You may see the same items, but they may end up with different final bid amounts. The final bid amount can be contributed to the clarity of the listing's image, description, seller's reputation, timing, etc.
Also, you may find users bidding more for an item in the jewelry category versus the pet supply category. It really depends, so we do not have an actual credit-to-cash or cash-to-credit ratio as it is determined by the every-changing dynamic marketplace. Better listing quality contributes more attraction to potential bidders as well. Also, what you may value less on our site may be valuable to someone else. Therefore, we cannot determine or control how much an item will go for in the end.
As for private deals, we do not allow private auctions on our site and do our best to ensure that they do not happen. We work very hard to maintain a quality site and will continue to do so. I hope you will be able to continue to use and enjoy Listia.
Sincerely,
Tom
I do not recommend listia at all. I've been an on and off member of listia for about 3 years. I have not had many problems until recently, when a buyer filed a dispute claiming she only revieved one of the two items I was auctioning (bracelet and earrings). Why in the world would I want to keep any of the items I am auctioning? Isn't that the point why I am auctioning them? I even went through the process of wrapping them up in pretty tissue paper and making sure they were nice and proper, because that's the type of tidy person I am. She (the buyer) wrote "So I received an envelope today wrapped in purple paper... when I opened it only the bracelet was inside... I though it was earrings as well"
I can tell she was lying. You don't put "..." if this is a proper dispute. It clearly shows she is trying to make informal business. This made me very angry, becaues I know for sure I put the earrings and bracelet together before wrapping it. I wanted everything to be perfect. This lady was a lying scammer and she should be banned. After this experience, I do not wish to continue business with Listia any further.
I paid 50 dollars for credits and then right after they suspended my account and i told them to give me my money back or un suspend my account but they just ignored me and didn't help at all.
Hi Aki. Could you please submit a support ticket regarding this issue? And please specify that it is in response to this SiteJabber review. Thank you https://help.listia.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I have been using listia almost 2 year's, and have listed almost 1,000 auction's. I have enjoyed myself there greatly. But when it come's to the few of disputes that had been listed against me I got the shaft. I'm quiting listia because of this last dispute. I auctioned off A DVD, and 10 day's later the person wanted there credit's back. I assume after they already watched/recorded the disc or something. But the kicker is the disc the person is and will be sending me back isn't the one I sent them in the first place. I never owned that disc, and all my discs have no marks on them this one is beat up badly. So enclosing the shipping I paid to send this disc to the person I will have to eat, and this person will be returning this disc to me, and I'll be docked for the credits I got from the auction. I'm going to be using up my credit's I have on my account and then I will be closing it. It's really not A bad site, but the Mod's do not use fair judgement. Warning if you try this site take it from me, make sure you mark all your auctions "All sell's or final or similar" Beware of Scammers who don't verify there account's also.
Listia is a great service ive been with them almost 3 years now with a couple of minor issues with buyers now the Fill out trusted surveys section and free games for the PC are bad the surveys are normally you putting in personal information and getting nothing some are very long the free downloads are dangerous with spyware adware and viruses i have all of these from the free downloads section best items to sell are coins and mp3 devices like apple and android Good Luck on Listia
Hi Anthony. Thanks for the review. We're sorry hear about the surveys and downloads. If you haven't already, please submit support tickets next time you experience this as you shouldn't be. Hope you continue to enjoy your time on Listia!
I was an "early adopter" of Listia, and it was a site with great potential when I first joined in 2009. What is LIstia? Well it's a sort of barter marketplace, similar to what eBay WAS back when it was a trading post for collectors and garage salers-- except on Listia, people trade with "points" rather than dollars.
For some years, it was really a great venue and the system worked well... unfortunately, the site owners' efforts to attract people and provide "incentive" and "value" that attracts new users has backfired... in such a way that the site now is plagued by severe "point inflation."
What that means is that where you could two years ago trade 120,000 points for a $50 Amazon gift card, today you need 500,000(!) points to trade for a $15(!) Amazon gift card... essentially meaning that the "value" of the site's point currency becomes more and more worthless on a daily basis.
I have basically lost confidence in the site and stopped using it-- even though I still love the idea of a moneyless trading system. I can't really recommend the site anymore... or I would have to say that a new user should AT LEAST be aware that what's worth something today may be all but worth-LESS in a month from now. A great shame... another cool venue that has shot itself in the foot...
Tip for consumers:
I would say that Listia has outlived its usefulness and is in slow decline towards its inevitable demise... UNLESS management radically changes something.
Listia is a fun, innovative, smart website. As a developer myself I can attest to the HUGE task of creating and maintaining a website of this caliber while imbuing it with positive ambience- and a self regulating credit value system? Kudos developers and to all those that would trash talk Listia based on a less than pleasant user experience or two while completing one of the myriad offers for credits available there I would say: I have experienced a few instances of not being credited when due myself however a complete support system is in place and friendly and functional to boot... I've been asked to provide proofs of completion as well... it seems demeaning in the moment but realize validation of this sort is a necessary evil... if users can scam a system, they will. Simple as not trusting everyone because of the few. And that becomes the baseline, the status quo for what is expected in app functionality in terms of security. Listia is an example of idealized love create it let it fly and let the users' various levels of input define how the system functions; with experience comes knowledge of real and potential pitfalls to the paradigm- the creator's brainchild.
It is a secure platform. I am CNISS MCITP,
Have transacted credit purchases from Listia numerous times, and have never experienced a site security issue. All transactions have been accurate and timely, I have never experienced an unauthorized transaction of any sort. THANKS LISTIA!
Hi Anthony. Thanks so much for the nice review and sharing your insight about and experience on Listia. Our developers definitely appreciate the recognition. Hope you continue to enjoy yourself on Listia. We appreciate great users like you!
I was recommended through fb by many friends I do like the app because you can earn credits through surveys and buying I use PeanutLabs Surveys and im being really honest but I cannot afford to use 5$ on the app only because I am verry poor but I do love how the surveys you can do it and get credits especially right now because they are 1.5x more credits I earned 6.6k credits in a survey and now im bidding on a present for my mom I really like this app/website even though I use the app you guys should try it
Hi Evelyn,
We're so glad to hear you like Listia and have been able to participate in surveys to earn credits. We hope you continue to have a great experience!
Listia is absolutely pitiful!
Not only the fact that you are free to get scammed on there, but their customer service is $*!%.
It was 11 PM last night when I was trying to get into my normal Listia account. I had not been on in a few days. I forgot the password and was locked out of my email. I decided to create a new account. Shortly thereafter, I started bidding, won several new items and tried to verify my address for shipping.
I waited nearly a whole hour for my address to be verified. I finally got an email that my address was declined. I was pissed off so I decided to submit a request. I detailed my situation and after another hour of waiting, I received another email thatmy account was suspended.
Listia is a joke. They actually track your IP Address so that you can't create another account. Isn't that illegal? LISTIA SHOULD BE SUED!
To hell with Listia! Their customer service center is probably full of high school drop outs who are inept at responding to people's emails. Listia is a joke. Don't use it.
Tip for consumers:
DON'T USE IT!
Hi Mike B.,
We are sorry that you are unhappy with your account suspension, but our rules and terms of service clearly state that a user can only have ONE account. Creating another account would be considered a multiple account, which violates our terms of service, therefore would be removed. You can view the the suspension rules here: https://www.listia.com/rules#suspensions
I hope we were able to clarify things for you.
Sincerely,
Tom

Way too many scammers on this site for me. As a newer user it took me a little bit to get the hang of things. I lost out on shipping at first and quickly figured out how to set minimum bids. Instructions on the site can be difficult to find for certain questions. After selling those items, I tried to use my credits. I have bid on and won 7 auctions. To date, I've only received 1 item. 1 is still pending. 5 I had to request refunds of my credits because seller wasn't redponding to me or just never sent item. I would give them plenty of time (in most cases a month) to ship. I left neutral feedback (because the option for negative feedback was disabled) after the latest scammer got $7. Of my shipping fees which I had to pay thru pay pal. She wrote back lying saying I didn't read instructions and just paid shipping five days ago and didn't wait 14-21 days for the item. In fact, I had paid shipping over 34 days prior to filing dispute and then waited over 30 days for shipping. There are a few good sellers. The one item I won came with the week of winning the auction. The other I am waiting on was shipped the day after I won auction. These good sellers are few and far between the scammers though. Most other reviews I have read in this site are also true.
Hi Kim,
I'm sorry to hear a few of your transactions haven't gone so well. The majority of our auctions do end successfully, with both parties happy. We try our best to maintain a fun, fair and safe community on our site, but there are times when we do get users who just do not uphold their end as a member. Have you tried submitting a support ticket to have your issues resolved? If not, please do so. We can look further into situations once we are notified of them. Again, I'm sorry that we received this feedback, but hope we can change things around for you.
Sincerely,
Tom
I Would Say Do Not Use This Site All They Care About Is There Selfs And Taking Your Credits When Do Not Need Them And As Long As They Get What They Want They Are Happy I Listed A Auction On There Site And It Got Deleted For There Know It All Moderators That Do Not Know Nothing About Shipping They Only Favor Certain People On There Site Too Which Is Not Right They Also Can Not Ever Take Responsibility For There F ups Moderators Working For Them
Tip for consumers:
Do Not Use There Site Shut Them Down
Hi Stephanie. We are sorry you feel this way. To address our Customer Support, we definitely do not take 6 days to respond. As for our moderators, each and every decision is made carefully and based on our site rules, not favoritism. If there is a disagreement, users are always welcome to inform us through a support ticket. We're sorry to hear of your experience with us, but we do hope that you'll continue to use Listia and have the positive experience that many of our users have daily.
Yeah your site having major issues. For that I'm out! Missing credits from promo sign ups, to magical credit charge after winning item, jumps up *******
If you're giving things away it's a great site. If you want to charge shipping you better be ready for a butt load of idiot's! People with zero feedback ratings and NO experience on Lista will bid on your items and claim they never saw that you charge shipping. EVEN when its clearly written in the title and 3 or 4 times in the listing. Once they have bid, it puts other, potentially paying customers, off and they look elsewhere. Which, wastes your time and money. This isn't a "now and then" kind of thing. Out of maybe 50 auctions I have listed with shipping charges I have had at least 30 of them fall through!
Listia provides no protection against this. You can't even offer a second chance to the first bidder. So, your listing is basically DEAD!
Members will relentlessly hound you over the fact that you charge shipping. Even to the point of harassment! And the admin. Couldn't care less. You cant even give negative feedback! So, that idiot can just keep on screwing people.
If it weren't for the fact that I do sell to a PAYING buyer every day there, I would leave and never look back. Once I have my product selling on my own site, it's gonna be BYE BYE LISTIA!
My first listing experience wasn't a good one. My item was bought by this total weirdo who sent me this comment: (I had not said anything to him except asking for an email I can send my shipping charge to through paypal).
"Thank you for your item. I could really tell that you love me and my family. <-[WTF?!]
No offense my cousin said that you are idiots by i don't think so."
He sounds exactly like the automated scam emails I get from Craiglist (but at least those people only waste a second of your time). Three days now and he still won't send his email. He sent his address though.
Yeah, no, I'm not sending anything until I get my shipping fee. Total scammer, weird automated message, and total waste of 10 days.
Also, the value of their credits changes like, multiple times a day. It's annoying. I'm worried that if I give away stuff, before I can save enough credits to get something I want, my credits are going to be worth much less.
This was my first (testing the waters) experience and it wasn't a good sign.
Honestly, just selling your stuff for cash and then using that cash to buy what you want is easier. I recommend: Ebay, Amazon, or Craigslist.
Hi Jess. Thanks for the feedback and we're sorry to hear your first listing experience was not ideal. We hope you continue to list things with Listia and experience the many great users and community members we have on the site.
If you use this site, just know that if there's ever a dispute over credits listia will always believe the buyer over the seller in a dispute. I sent not one but two packages to a man claiming he didn't get it the first time, wanting to do the HONEST thing i sent out another one, I couldn't afford tracking and if you don't want to spend the money to track the items you send then DONT SIGN UP on listia. Because people will scam you and listia will allow them to. I understand that without tracking there's no proof that he got it, but what about the fact that they can't prove if he DID get it and scammed me for twice what he paid for and also wanted his credits back. In was basically called a liar by the staff and they refunded his credits so I lose out on my items sent and the credits aswell. This is a complete scam and waste of time. Its much cheaper and far less stressful and dramatic to just go buy the things you want. People sit there and bid tons of credits on items you can buy at your local DOLLAR store and they dont seem to mind wasting credits on such things as pictures of an overweight ginger girl in lingerie, to me, that seems as though it violates they're supposed "rules" but in reality there isn't any. Because then staff couldn't care less about any of it. I'm not joking when I tell you i seen used anal beads go for thousands of credits. So basically stay away from this trailer park of a website because its not legitimate.
I liked this site at first until I spent 60.000 credits on a braclet that I never received I requested a refund and still weeks later listia has done nothing about this matter
Hi Carmela. We're sorry that you have not received your item. If you requested a refund, the Admin should be taking care of it for you. Please continue to communicate on the dispute if it is still active. Hopefully it all works out.
I was listing a few xbox 360 games on this site and was being harrassed by a moderator that goes by the name farmgirl not sure what was wrong but each auction i listed she would have something negative to say about it i put 3 pictures of my item and gave all info of damage if any and i also stated that if the issue was not acceptable then i could and would make it as good as new if it was a factor this moderator kept making the statement that i wasnt adding enough info for my auctions if there is nothing wrong then why cant i say slightly used no scratches or never played if that was the case? So i removed my auctions and tried to respond to the moderator with this message --- Moderator Farmgirl Hello, i removed this auction so you wouldn't be worried about the listing and i will contact the administration and find the guidelines i must follow to adhere to your postings on my auctions i guess listia isn't the place for me to give and get free stuff. Link to my listings http://www.listia.com/auction/*******-viking-battle-for-asgard

Tip for consumers:
this site will cause anger management problems for you and does nothing but give power to those thyat are mearly seeking a power trip for the riding not knowing i bet the admins would see that this moderator was running people away from using the site instead of assisting the sellers with the needs that show a problem
Screw Listia! The admins are complete jerks and buyers screw sellers all of the time! I have spent over $50 on shipping items free to buyers and the buyers are ungrateful thieves who are out to steal your item and your credits. One buyer who stole my item, my credits and the money I spent on shipping has a history of scamming people out of designer purses and crying to lisita that they never got their item. Seriously, they have left over 88 negative feedbacks for sellers saying they never got their item. Listia of course sided with the scammer even though I provided proof of shipping the item and now I am out the shipping costs, the value of the item, and my credits. And one ungrateful buyer cried to Listia that an item I sold them as new in package is not new because it has a goodwill price sticker on it. Um, hello, Goodwill sells brand new items too! I'm sure Listia will give the idiot their credits back so AGAIN I will lose my item, my shipping money, and my credits. Forget that. Do not sell items on Listia unless you want to be screwed by the evil Listia admins and ungrateful buyers!
Tip for consumers:
Do NOT sell items on Listia! Buyers are out to scam you and Listia will side with them and you will lose your items, your credits, and your shipping money! See the receipt in the picture? Yeah, the idiot complained to Listia that I never sent their item and Listia gave them their credits so the person stole my item and my credits! Not to mention the $3.58 I spent on shipping!
It seems like most items posted on this site get lots of bids rather quickly. Every thing I have tried to get from here has gone up to several thousand points and I end up not being able to get it. In order to get points you have to list items which means finding something you can part with that someone else would want, taking pics of them, writing descriptions, mailing them (which includes paying to send them if you offer free shipping). If you want to get items and don't have things to list then you have to pay for points or sign up for free trials of things and such to get points. The whole point of using listia is because you can get free stuff. But, if you have to sign up for things and pay for bids it's not free. I was looking for some yarn on there and the bids went from a couple hundred to a couple thousand in a few hrs. And it still had 5 days left. By the time it was done I would have had to buy points to get the yarn and I may as well just go out and buy yarn if I have to do that, cause it's no longer free. I wouldn't spend $20 on bids just to try and get yarn or a shirt or something when I could end up being outbid and waste the money. May as well just go to the store and buy stuff for that amount and actually get the item. If you have lots of things to part with and want to take the time to list them then it would be worth using the site. If not then it's pretty much not worth it. So annoying how everything goes up to thousands of points and you can't get anything unless you've listed a bunch of stuff that and/or spent money to get loads of points.
Tip for consumers:
If you want to get items from here you need to have items to list that people will want. So, first you need to gather up some things and list them to earn points or spend the money and buy points because you will need loads of them to get things. All of the listings seem to go to thousands of points fast.
Hi Rebecca,
Thank you for your feedback. Listia is a free site and provides a service that essentially is free to all our user. Earning credits can be done without listing items, but to fully benefit from our site and be able to bid on great items, it is highly suggested that users also list items to sell. We cannot control how much auction items are sold for as it depends on how much the bidder places credit value to it. Users have the best experience on our site when they are both a Seller and Winner. I'm sorry that you have lost out on items that you've wanted, but hopefully another auction item will catch your eye and you can bid on it soon.
Sincerely,
Tom
Having been a member on listia for over 2 years with 100% positive feedback and almost 2000 completed auctions as a seller, I am livid beyond belief that listia has changed the format of the rewards store from a GIN to an AUCTION format! I usually only stuck to getting items from the rewards store because they were always brand new and from either Walmart or Bestbuy. The reason why I primarily stuck to the rewards store is because listia allows ANYONE to become a member and immediately start selling. They do not require ANY verification in order to become a seller and there are 1000's of scammers trying to get over with clearly bogus auctions. As if that weren't bad enough, the moronic "mods" ask the scam sellers to please include more information so they have a better chance of selling the item. It is LAUGHABLE. That aside, there are also many sellers that offer items that "have issues" like cracked screens on cell phones, items missing parts, or they ask over inflated shipping costs. So because of this, I stuck to the rewards store for 90% of the time. Now since it's an auction format, they have millions of people vying for a handful of items and it has turned into an all out bidding war and buyers are driving up the credit amounts because of it. Listia is clearly taking advantage of their members and the stupid ones are allowing it by overbidding.
Tip for consumers:
Too many scammers and garbage to sift thru
Hi Greg J.,
We're sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our Rewards Store update. Did you have a chance to read our blog post regarding the change?
http://blog.listia.com/2015/02/25/rewards-store-updates/
Feedback is always welcomed from our users. All changes and updates made on the site are based on many factors, which include users' feedback, benefit and experience. At times, these changes may not make everyone happy, but we keep the entire community in mind when these changes are made.
We hope these ongoing updates will not change your experience on Listia.
Thank you for your feedback.
Sincerely,
Tom
It was a hurting site because of the OUT OF CONTROL INFLATION but now that Listia has changed its trading currency to its VERY OWN XNK... most users have left the site. Listia is now a Chinese HACKER site run by Chinese HACKERS.
Listia is a marketplace for Free Stuff where you can give away stuff you don't need anymore and get stuff you want in return for free. It's fun, free and very easy to use.
Hi Yeimy G.,
Sorry to hear about that, but if you haven't already, please contact the support team so that they can tell you exactly why your account was suspended. That's usually only done as a last resort. The support team can be contacted here: https://help.listia.com/requests/new
Thanks!
