I purchased two certificates for a local restaurant, but cannot use them, since me and my wife are considered "compromised" and cannot dine in. Our certificates say for dine in only. We asked if we could therefore apply the certificates to take out. The owner refused, telling us to speak with LocalFlavor, they should return your money. I've contacted LocalFlavor multiple times and have received the same canned rejection note each time. They are only interested in making money and not their customers.
At a time when companies and people are banding together to help each other, LocalFlavor is showing it's true colors. What a horrible example of greed and terrible customer service.
Restaurants are not accepting the vouchers. Local Flavor is expiring them and keeping the money. No refunds being given out. They got the money but we got nothing in return. Is there a class action suit that I could join? This scam company needs to stop cheating people!
If you call their customer service number you get a recording that says no one can get to you at this time please contact us by email because that's the quickest way yet they don't answer the email either no matter what number you call you're just circled back around company should be investigated for fraud and put out of business beware do not deal with this company
For a long time the LocalFlavor offers and customer support worked great but over time unfortunately it's gone bad. First problem: LocalFlavor sells certificates for closed restaurants that have shut down. Apparently LocalFlavor has no way to know when an advertising restaurant shuts down or changes ownership. We've run into this at least three times. However at least LocalFlavor staff were always there to answer calls or email and provide a refund. Not anymore. No customer service or support calls are being answered by a representative anymore. No messages are being taken. What's worse is LocalFlavor has also not been answering email either. Sending them an email is also a dead end. BEWARE: LocalFlavor customer support appears to be gone. Getting creative I also called and left a message in another department but no one has responded.
I have used this company several times for area restaurants... you ave to read the small print regarding exclusions but I have never had a merchant blink an eye when presented with the coupon. At Christmas time, I purchased my husband a great deal on a golf outing. When it was nearing the expiration date, he decided to use it and found out that the place had gone out of business. I emailed the company and waited 2 days (no response) and made several attempts to call the company... same results as other (recorded messages, office closed message) but then I called the number listed on the certificate for MERCHANTS and they transferred my call directly to customer service where I spoke with a very helpful and polite gentleman, Juan, who took care of my request and after about a week, the full refund was back on my card.
I use the $10 for $20 at a local pizza place once a week for like 2 years with no problems. I just used it at a local Japanese restaurant today and had no problem. Not sure how all these people are getting ripped off.
Before you buy Local Flavors coupon for Johnny's Pizza, call local restaurant to make sure what it covers. Tonight I used $15 coupon for $30 worth of food. Coupon says not good for alcohol, only food. Total bill was $30.07, so we owed them 7 cents. Waitress came back, said coupon did not cover appetizers, so they charged us $6.43 for 2 orders. They basically gave us $23.57 credit for our $30 coupon. Not good public relations to not honor what they advertisement. Buyer beware what you're paying for before you commit to buying the half off coupons. Food was excellent, BUT not happy with way coupon was handled by management. Just know what you're buying before you pay for it!
I don't get the bad reviews. I have never had a problem using their certificates nor getting a refund for a restaurant that closed. The only (minor) gripe I have is that the value of the coupon expires after a year I think? So that's mostly my fault for not getting around to using them. Perhaps they're bad with merchants but better for buyers?
This site advertises a lot thru the Clipper-titled "Coupon Magazines" it mails to all households in the area. It has become a fraud. I have had three instances in recent weeks where a business went broke or shut down while a certificate I purchased was still valid. They have a way to report this and request a refund, but they simply refuse to reply to your request. The site says it will take just a few days, but they intentionally ignore you. I should have learned the first time, which is still an open issue months after I requested a refund, but I didn't learn. Don't you be fooled as I was. Next step: try to get action from the Illinois Attorney General's fraud group. I don't expect that will bother them much, though.
So we started local flavor to advertise our business. At first we thought it was great except the fact that they sold hundreds of vouchers and we are giving free product away left and right without any payment. This was totally a sneaky tactic on their end and it makes businesses look bad. If you are a customer please if you love a business just support them. Chances are they want exposure and being ripped off by this company.
Answer: Unfortunately it looks like their customer support is shut down or closed with no answers. I had to go to my bank to reject the transaction and get my bank to refund our money for the invalid certificates.
Answer: The number they have is bs as the whole company is. Most merchants say they were tricked and claim they get nothing. This is why merchants often are refusing these vouchers also. Have fun trying to get refund on anything. They were decent early in but not now. Stay clear of anything with these guys...
